View RepliesI am creating a access db for use with a training company. All is working great.
What I want to do is create certificates within Access and then print by the Course load. Easy enough and I can do this.
The courses usually last two or three days, so i want to create a field which has the start and finish date on the certificate formatted correctly.
I currently use this
Code:
CourseDate: DatePart("d",[StartDate]) & " & " & DatePart("d",[EndDate]) & " " & Format([EndDate],"mmmm") & " " & DatePart("yyyy",[EndDate])
within a query which returns this
29 & 30 May 2013
what i want to print on the certificate is this
29th & 30th May 2013
I need to have the 'st' or 'nd' or 'rd' or 'th' in the date.
I am working with two forms frmManager and frmMMeasures where based on selection from the combo box of frmManager of the department, position and staff member frmMMeasures is loaded where MUserLoginID and MPositionName is populated based on selection from frmManager. This is what I use to populate the MUserLoginID field for the control source " =[Forms]![frmManagers]![cboStaff] ".
My problem is when I go to the next record on the form those two fields do not change from what was picked up from the form frmManager.
I don't know how to ensure that the correct data is displayed.
Why is it when I click on the TblCarerdetails and try to open a record with the plus sign I am present with the following error message Enter Parameter value CarerID///The frmCarerRota seems to be working ok, the relationships seem to be ok i.e TblCarers can have many rotas i.e. a different TblRota each week (1 - M)
TblClients can have different TblRotas each week (1 - M).why the tables are not linking correctly, if I click on the TblCarer plus sign.I should see the Rota details and a plus sign. If click on the plus sign, I should see the clients details. Therefore I am assuming that my relationships are not correct, I think I need to add an association table, but where and what fields do I need to add/create.
In my database i need two process in the database one is SOD(Start of Day) and the 2nd one is EOD (End Of Day). The purpose of these process to run multiple hidden queries in back-end. In both processes there are several queries to run. How i can built this but this is necessary for database. another thing these process execute only once a day. after login i want to run a form that will check that SOD is performed or not if not then SOD (Run SOD) Screen will appear if SOD not perform yet then system ask for SOD Process to run otherwise disable my dashboard items. and 2ndly if EOD not performed last day then system will run normally and not ask for SOD process.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just delivered my front end to the user. I have incorpoated a splash screen which uses the timer event and then a sign-in form opens. Trouble is, when the user opens the FE it just sits there on the splash screen. The Access security won't let the above process run because it stops all VBA until the user shift-starts and clicks the 'allow' button. After that it all works fine until I deliver an updated version and it all starts again. All using A2010. what I need to do to avoid the user having to shift-start?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running into the issue where some of my batch files don't run correctly when the Access Application runs them.
Batch File:
Code:
FOR %%F IN ("*.prp") DO IF %%~zF EQU 0 DEL "%%F"
FOR %%F IN ("*.drv") DO IF %%~zF EQU 0 DEL "%%F"
start "" "%~dp0Start.bat"
I believe that this is because the For loops above are deleting files and don't have permissions to do it when ran from the application.
How I can modify this VBA to launch as Administrator?
VBA Snippet:
Code:
Shell parent_path & "Copy_" & Get2000Or2100 & ".bat"
I want to wrap up an Access 2013 desktop app so that the user only sees the splash screen. I can get rid of the Navigation pane, but not the Ribbon or the Quick Access toolbar. At this stage I do not want to split the db or prepare it for distribution. I don't really want to generate a custom ribbon, as I shall need the standard one for development.I'm sure this used to be easy back when I last used Access (97), but cannot believe that I cannot find it anywhere in 2013.

I am a user who has been making some improvements to our database. Now that I want to test the improvements I need to create an mde, but can't.
The database was created in Access 2003 and I am now using Access 2007 on windows 2010. The original developer advised that we continue to use mde format - something to do with the runtime version everyone else who uses the database have.what I need to do to convert my mdb to an mde?
I created a call logging/work tracking type Database using SharePoint 2007 lists for the backend and Access 2013 front end for about 60 users and it has been running smoothly for around two years .
We use a shared outlook calendar and I want to be able to pull meetings & appointment information into the database from the calendar so I can assign the meetings out to specific people and keep of a record that they where given the request to attend. I was able to use the import outlook folder to create a linked table and it has lots of great information from the calendar apart from the two most important things you need in a calendar Start_time & End_Time . Is there something I'm missing in regards to these two fields? I assume I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure out what, nor did I have much luck with the Search function on here or google.
This is the list of field names it does import(everything apart from the meeting time and is it a recurring appointment)

I am calculating number of weeks between start and finish date. Some of the users have questioned the validity of calculation as they are not too sure if this is being calculated as Monday to Friday week or does it work by calculating 7 days. If the latter is true, then I should see a decimal value. I am using date diff formula.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI created autoexec macrro. But when i open the form as a dialog box it doesn't show minimize and maximize button.. it only shows close button so what should i do..Also i want to create the log in form as well..So here is what i want
1) when i open the database it shows me log in box and if i put right password and username
- if i put wrong password it should keep promoting me until i put right login details and this login shouldn't be displaying the close button otherwise users can easily access through database.
2) the navigation form should be pop up.
When my database application is closed a parameter box pops up asking for parameter from text16 but only if the Navigation Pane is hidden.
Some information:
The application starts with a login screen that has a hidden text box (text16) that allows me to limit what users can access throughout the database by setting it as the query criteria.
If a form is open that is gathering its data from one of these querys and you try to close the application the parameter box opens which is simply annoying for my users who do not know about access.
The interesting thing about this is that if I unhide the Navigation Pane and close the application with one of these forms open it closes fine with no parameter box pop up.
The goal is to have the Navigation Pane hidden and the parameter box not pop up.
Added information if the navigation pane is hidden I can use a command button with a macro that closes all open forms then quits application and this does not cause the parameter box to pop up.
So another fix for my problem would be to disable the "X" close button at the top right of the application.
Okay so I created a database inventory. I know I can turn it into a "application" making it a EXE file. I was wondering after that being done could I burn that into a CD? So it would boot from the CD. Pretty make it work like a program application as in word, excel, etc..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using my db for 3 years without this particular problem: I am now unable to add records to one of my tables - either through the form or in datasheet view. I have a patient table and a visit table. I put in the patient data using a form and then go to the visit form to add all of the visits for the month. I have never had a problem adding data to any of my tables but now I am unable to add data to the visit table. As much as I didn't want to I brought up last month's back up to enter the patients again. Before I did I checked to see if I could add visits - I could not. So I checked January's back up - same issue. I made no changes to the db before trying to add a visit .

When I tried on a different machine I get an error message that says too many Table IDs. Odd since I only have 3 forms, 3 tables and 3 reports. Lots of DoCmd's and switching between the 3 forms but not sure why this would create "too many Table IDs"?
I do IT support for different companies.
I have had a client moving to a new server a couple of months ago.
They have a small access application that reads csv files and exports them into Sage format that can then be imported into their accounts program - it also reports the total invoiced (whatever is inside the data CSV file) and has a printer friendly report with all the invoices inside said data CSV file.
The issue I have is that since the little app was moved to the new server - it stopped working.
I think somewhere in the code / options there is place to state the working path for the app. I think the app is trying to read the input data file from the old shared folder and thus not working anymore.
I can post the code and a sample CSV file. Specially because I did find a place with the old path and changed it to the new file share and it still didn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI do not know Microsoft Access that well when it comes to development.
A colleague and myself have inherited a project that requires us to research an application developed in Access.
We both have worked at SQL Server Administrators. All we have been provided is an .mdb.
The .mdb opens right up into the form view if you will.
When working with Access many years ago I know there are other views to Access when it comes to design, tables and relationships.
Does the .mdb need to be unlocked or opened in another way?
Is there a means of making an application grow/shrink to accommodate different screen sizes? eg. not all users of a distributed application will necessarily have the same screen size.
