General :: Checkboxes Not Saving To Table

Oct 20, 2013

I am writing a program in Access 2010. My check boxes are not saving to the table. I have stepped through the code with no errors and it only saves the last check box to the table. Here is my code:

Private Sub cmdSave_Click()
On Error GoTo cmdSave_Click_Error

Dim rs As Object
Dim db As Object

Set db = CurrentDb
Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("tblUserPermissions")

[Code] .....

I attached the full code.

General :: Saving Multiple Checkboxes To Table

Oct 16, 2013

I created a Microsoft Access database and access to the system must be controlled by User Access Level Control. The level of the user determines whether the user can add, edit, delete or view a certain form.

I created three tables which are linked via foreign keys: tblUsers, tblUserRoles and tblPermissions. (See the Tables attachment)

I designed the Permissions form to be user friendly by adding checkboxes on the form so that the Administrator can select whether a new user has Add, Edit, Delete or View rights. (See the User Level attachment)

To test my code I added a user as an Administrator. The problem is that when I select the Add, Edit, Delete and View checkboxes, it only saves the last checkbox to the Permissions table. The Administrator must have Add, Edit, Delete or View privileges on the Employees form, but now he only has View privileges. My code does not generate an error. (See the Incorrect attachment)

The Permissions table is suppose to save four entries(See the Correct attachment)

Here is my code.

Private Sub cmdSave_Click()
Dim rstPermissions As Object
Dim dbFSManagement As Object
Set dbFSManagement = CurrentDb
Set rstPermissions = New ADODB.recordSet

[Code] .....

find the attached MS access DB for INVOICE printing . I am facing two issues there .

1. {form INVOICE } sub-total must be Calculated from line total on {INVOICE DATA Subform} , I know this can be accomplished by adding a new field at sub-form and calling that value to main form's sub-total field .

2. And the real issue is i want to save this value from subtotal on form INVOICE to table field name subtotal .

3.I wish to make a reporting format for each INVOICE NUMBER , whenever report is being generated , the report shows more than 1 invoice details .

General :: Checkboxes - Create Text Field On A Report That Show All Yes Answers

Apr 8, 2013

I have multiple fields in a table that are set up as Yes/No and display as checkboxes on a form. Now I need to create a text field on a report that showes all the Yes answers. The text field needs to figure out if it's a Yes answer, then display the field name, if there is more than one yes answer in the fields it is looking at, it should separate each with a "," . This is a large text field, that could show as many as 10 Yes answers.

What is the best way to go about doing this? I use Access 2010

Multiple Checkboxes To Update Table

Aug 30, 2005

hi, i've a form with 2 combo boxes (month and year) and 2 buttons "save" and "get". I'm trying to figure out how to use that button to perform 4 tasks.

task 1:

when i select the month and the year from the combo boxes and i click the button "get", the form should populate the number of checkboxes equavalent to the number of days of that month. e.g: if i select feb 2008, i should have 29 checkboxes (due to leap year) or i select apr 2005, i should have 30 checkboxes.

assuming that i've done the date validation function.. like jan, mar, may, jul, aug, oct and dec should return 31 days, leap year etc.

task 2:

then how should i assign the date value to the checkbox? say if i check on the 5 th box, it should return me a value of 05/09/2005 (assuming i select sept in my month combo box and 2005 in my year combo box earlier on)

task 3:

how should i code the label for my checkboxes? i wan to have 2 labels on top of the checkbox. the first label to show the name of the day (e.g: mon, tue etc) and the second label to show the day (e.g: 1, 2, 3)

task 4:

not sure if this task is a tall order.. but nonetheless, i need to consult the experts here. let's say when i check multiple checkboxes at one go, how to update into the table i want?

e,g: i check 9 boxes (e.g: 01/09/05, 03/09/2005, 04/09/2005... 23/09/2005) then when i click the button "save", i should have nine records in my table designated to save the data.

pls help. thanks. :)

General :: Permissions Not Saving

Jul 10, 2014

I have created 10 User Group Accounts, and have set Permissions for the first 7 successfully. However, no Permission settings are being saved for any subsequent Groups. (Access 2010 managing a 2003 mdb file, Front and Back client)

After having experimented a little, I found that while Access allows you to create a Group name with 20 characters, any Group with 20 characters in the name does not save Permissions.19 Characters seems to be the maximum characters a Group can actually be named with.

Forms :: Automatically Insert Data To Another Table By Completing Checkboxes

Jun 1, 2015

I'm on my way on creating a simple Database for a company. This database contains several tables, one of the tables will record information about the training that had been completed by each employee. There are about ten sections of training that should be completed.

For instance, I have two tables called 'Development' and 'CSA_Lisence'. 'Development' is the table that record the information about training which containing ten checkboxes (which represent ten sections of training) and CSA_Lisence will be automatically requeried when all of the checkboxes on Development are fully checked.

Here's the step I've been worked on :

First, I made a function called 'CheckCompletion' to ensure whether all the checkboxes are checked :

Code:
Public Function CheckCompletion() As Boolean
Dim blnComplete As Boolean
Dim strCompletionSummary As String
strCompletionSummary = Basic_Inspection & Certifying_Staff & Safety_Management_System & Regulation_Part_145 & Part_M & EWIS & Fuel_Tank_Safety_Level_2 & Dangerous_Goods & Human_Factor & Basic_Supervisory_Training

[Code] ....

Second, I made a function called 'UpdateEmployee' to handles if all boxes are checked :

Code:
Public Function UpdateEmployee()
Dim emp_numb As Long
Dim emp_name As Long
Dim strsql As String
emp_numb = [Forms]![development].[employee_number].Value

[Code] ....

Then, I put this code on every checkbox's after update event (example only) :

Code:
Private Sub Basic_Inspection_AfterUpdate()
Call UpdateEmployee
End Sub

The problem is, nothing happened with the tables. However, when I managed to remove the 'If checkCompletion' condition, it worked and the 'CSA_Lisence' is requeried, but I will have ten multiple records with same contents (I just need one record per employee). I guess there's something wrong or missed in my code. Or i need to remove something?

I'm wondering if it is possible to:

i) have Group A create an excel file of items to be investigated (let's call the file tblNEW)

ii) open a record in the file through a form (let's call the form frmINPUT) to allow Group B to input investigation findings

iii) save the modified record into a separate table of all the work that has been done (let's call this table tblWORK)

iv) delete the investigated record in tblNEW once it gets saved into tblWORK

General :: Saving Records And Empty Comboboxes

Sep 16, 2014

I have a database that I've created for a number of clerks under me to use to track their daily tasks.

When clerks are entering their tasks, they do so through a number of combo boxes on a form (Assigned by:, Division of Law:, Subcategory:, Casename etc). When all of the combo boxes have been filled, the employee can click a button in order to save the record to the back end of the database and open a new blank record.

Currently, if an employee tries to enter the wrong data in a combo box and save the record, they will be prompted to enter data and not allowed to save the record; the problem is that if they leave all fields blank they can still save the record - thus creating useless data for reporting purposes. For example, an employee could enter their name and the date of record but leave every other combo box blank and still save the record. I want to lock the form such that they cannot save the record unless all of the combo boxes on the form are populated to reduce user error.

How can I do this simply?

General :: Saving User Defined Variables

Sep 16, 2012

I have a database that creates many forms based on queries which are based on user-defined variables. These are permanent variables added directly in the query, such as "if an employee is late 4 times in a month, we yell at them." I would like to be able to change this to "5 times in a month" if the users want to.

Rather than waiting for that to happen and having to change all my queries, i want to set up a form for them to access and edit the variable, save it, and then my queries to reference that variable.

My question is what is the best way to store and reference them? I could create a table, but i am not too sure how easy it would be to make my queries work with that.

I could also add them onto my main form which is always open, but I'm not sure how to make them save when access is closed. (a quick trial from my variable form won't let me update either a text box or label value on the main form).

They all have individual passwords to log in.

When I tried on a different machine I get an error message that says too many Table IDs. Odd since I only have 3 forms, 3 tables and 3 reports. Lots of DoCmd's and switching between the 3 forms but not sure why this would create "too many Table IDs"?

General :: Capturing And Saving User Name Who Created And Updated A Record

Jul 20, 2012

I have taken the Access Tasks template and modified a bit. It now captures and saves the time and date a record is modified. The database is on a network folder and is shared among our team users.What I would like to do next is make it,

1- capture and record on my Tasks table the user name of who created the record by using the fOSUserName() function. I have the table fields "Created by" and the VB code in a module. This would happen only once when the record is created.

I would also like to do this with the machine name for which I have the module too. fOSMachineName()

and,

2- capture and record the user name of who modified a record. For this I also have a field in my task table "Last Modified By" and i hope i can use the same fOSUerNmae() function.

I got to the point where I put an unbounded text box with the =fOSUserName() in it and it does show the user name but how do i get to record to my task table?how the template removes the tasks that are completed from the task list as soon as it is updated to completed? how can I make this happen with a cancelled option after I add it to the drop down list?
