View RepliesI have a multiuser data entry form which on using somtimes gets inactive, means the button stop working and we have to close the form and open again to avoid.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was reading how to make a a button open a webpage. I found out how to and what to type in the Visual Basics. It worked but like another user said, when ever he clicks the button, the window opens for the website but the window is not maximized. He said "I set the open new window value to True".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a database that produces employee contracts. To make it look as professional as possible I hide the Access main window when the splash screen loads using the ShowWindow function. The various forms to check and enter details all pop up without any problem, but when I get to the last stage where I use a report to produce the contract and then open it in PrintPreview mode, it won't display (unless I show the main window again , which looks very untidy!). Is it actually possible to display a report with the main Access window hidden?

Hi all,
I have a main form which is open in a maximized window (which i want to leave as it is), i have a command button which opens a form, now i want the form to open up as the size of a box i have created in the form, without altering the size of the first form. Also is it possible to move the 2nd form to the bottom left hand corner of my screem.
This is code i have so far does minimize window to what i want it to but also restores first form, which i want t leave maximized:
Code: Me.InsideHeight = Me.Box15.HeightMe.InsideWidth = Me.Box15.WidthDoCmd.Restore
Thanks in advance for any help,
M-.
I have included some code to disable the access PassKey (holding shift down as you open the database so that the database window appears). It is password protected and it works pretty well for normal users.
However, I have realised that even in this restricted mode you can go to File-Options-Current database and enable Access Keys. This then lets you open the database window by pressing F12.
My question is, is there a way to absolutely stop anyone from ever viewing the database window at all? All my code is password protected, but I still don't want an ICT person fiddling with my tables and queries!
I have a database and I need it so once the database file is launched the Database window & tool bars are hidden so people cannot see them. Along with that once the operator clicks on "Exit" on the main menu I would want it to close the database but display all of the Windows / Tool Bars again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a database that has a main form, and from that main form there are buttons that open their respected forms. I am curious as to how I control the size of all of my forms. They are all pop-ups at the moment. It all works fine on my monitor, but when opened on a smaller monitor it is too big and I can't even see the bottom of the screen. The main form is set to open automatically after the user logs into the database and it opens to fit the screen. also, all of my forms are modals.

Hello,
I am a researcher creating critical editions of ancient texts by collating readings from several manuscripts (i.e. different mss all contain minor differences). I create my edition in Word and use footnotes to record the variant readings. I also have a database - created from the word file - in which I can add context to each variant e.g. decisions, history etc. So I have a word file containing the text and its variants uniquely identified with a footnote reference and a database with one table and a record per variant and where the variant records are also unique and share the same number as the footnote. I would very much like to be able to open a window on my variant form which displays the word file at the correct variant (i.e. footnote reference) location. This will make it easier for me to record my assessments of the variant in the dbase while looking at where the variant occurs in the text. Obviously I don't need to see the footnote window as I have this info in the dbase.
I haven't got a clue how to do this and would appreciate any pointers.
Many thanks in advance,
Tim
Who can tell me how to minimize Access window while it's form is on top of other open windows (e.g. other applications which are maximized like Excel). By using acCmdAppMinimize command, only the Access window is minimized and if other applications are maxmized, they will be on top. So is there any vba solution to do what I explained?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThrough a set of circumstances, I have had to quickly migrate a long-standing (and business critical) database from Access 2003 to Access 2013, without the sort of prepping and planning that I would normally do in such circumstances.
Most functionality appears to be working ok...
Many of my database objects, especially queries, were given meaningful descriptions.
For example, a number of queries might have been described as "Accounts Data Validation".
When I wanted to run validation of the Accounts data, I would simply sort the database queries window by description, then scroll to the relevant section and run all of the tagged queries in turn.
However, having migrated to Access 2013, although the descriptions are still shown, I can no longer sort by them !
Medium term, I could probably assign different database objects to "Groups", but we are talking hundreds, perhaps even thousands of different objects and that would be a laborious and extremely tedious process.
Any way of sorting the database window by description in Access 2013 ?
Hello team,
My database window is hidden.
I have a form with data about an article. When I click a button, another form opens showing a sales graph of that article.
On the form with the graph, I have put another button to print it. The code behind that button is:
Private Sub printpriceevolution_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_printpriceevolution_Click
Dim stDocName As String
Dim MyForm As Form
stDocName = "frm_priceevolution"
Set MyForm = Screen.ActiveForm
DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, stDocName, True
DoCmd.PrintOut
DoCmd.SelectObject acForm, MyForm.Name, False
Exit_printpriceevolution_Click:
Exit Sub
Err_printpriceevolution_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_printpriceevolution_Click
End Sub
The funny thing is that after the printing (which works fine) my database window is shown, where it is supposed to be hidden.
Any idea what could trigger this? Does it have to do with pop-up dialog box settings?
Thanks
How I configure my Form Window to pop up as soon as I open my Access Database?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHello all,
Please help with this:
On opening my database, I have a switchboard that opens up.
How do also run a report automatically just after the switchboard screen opens. To make the switchboard open when I click on my database, I went to tools..> startup. But I don't know how to run a report automatically after that.
Thanks for your help!
I'm using access 2010.
How to set a single form's property to act as it's own "overlapping window" in a database that is set to use tabbed documents. I want most windows to have the tabbed layout but there are a few that I would like to have pop out and be their own windows.
I noticed that the Northwind database did this somehow. if you click on one of the products from the home screen a form pops up in its own window. I tried reverse engineering it, but no luck so far.
I'm trying to add a new functionality on my search form where the user can search for records that haven't been modified(based on the field DateModified) for certain amount of time. This is what I added in my search function but it's giving me "Invalid use of Null"
If Not IsNull(Me.txtInactiveTime) Then
Dim LValue As Integer
LValue = DateDiff("d", Me.DateModified, Date)
Select Case Me.txtInactiveTime
Case "> 1 month"
strWhere = strWhere & "(LValue >= " 30 ") AND "
Case "> 2 months"
strWhere = strWhere & "(LValue >= " 60 ") AND "
End Select
End If
txtInactiveTime is a combo box where the user chooses the time during which the records haven't been modified.(i.e. 1 month, 2 months etc.)
Field "A" is the drop list to select data like (Yes, No)
Field "B" is inactive but turn it to active when the field "A" is select to "Yes".
I have a database that has been functioning very well for nearly a year. Suddenly today, as I attempt to open a report (very complex report takes about 2 minutes to render), the database closes before displaying the report. I have moved the db from the server to my desktop and the same problem happens. It does not matter if I try to execute the report from the switchboard or from the Report Object List.
DB is 344,940KB. I have larger db's that work fine.
I don't know where to look for a way to stop this from happening. Nothing was done to the form design between the last time it worked properly, and today.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Thanks,
George
I've been working on a database for the past month and all of a sudden I'm getting an error "the microsoft jet database engine could not find the object 'database'" and when I click ok nothing is showing (i.e. no project window or anything). I normally do backups on something this large but for some reason I didn't on this one. The size of the file is still large but doesn't look like anything is in it.I've tried opening a new one and link and import everything but I get the same error.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy application is developed in Access 2003 version. Recently we moved from Access 2003 to Access 2010. Now users are facing usability issues like - in Access 2003 all the forms are opening in different windows and they can move to forms easily. But in Access 2010 all the Forms are opening in same window, if they want to move to different forms then they need to close the current window or press ctrl+F6. How can I enable/open forms multiple window in Access 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several tables linking our employees to certain supervisors, etc.On the Form, there is a drop down with all employees listed that someone can select and then enter the stats required. When someone leaves the firm, I want to remove them from the form dropdown list, but not delete them from the corresponding table. I have seen this in other databases where they someone added an 'Inactive' column with a Yes/No response and when you selected the inactive - yes, that name would disappear from the form when people select names from a dropdown to enter stats.how to make the names disappear from the view in a form, but not in the table related to that form?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a button on my form that should open a report in Preview node.
On SOME users machines, it appears that absolutely NOTHING happens when the user clicks the button. (preview mode)
Report parameters that may have some bearing are as follows. (Default settings in most cases)
Default View : Report View
Allow Report View: Yes
Allow Layout View: Yes
Auto Center : Yes
Auto Resize: Yes
Fit to page: Yes
Pop_up: Yes (This is NOT the default setting, as I would prefer the report to pop-up. If the report does not open in pop up mode, the users tend to close the DB instead of just the report.)
On the user machines where the problem exists, I have turned off the pop-up blocker in their web browser. It seems to work when opening in Report View.
Button Macro parameters are:
Report Name: My_Rpt_Name
View : Print Preview
Filter Name :
Where Condition :
Window Mode : Normal
Environment
SQL back end (ODBC Connection to server)
Access 2010 Front end
I am developing the DB in the bog standard install with no special permissions / add-ons. Also, my developer (log on) account is as a standard user, so there should be no (network) permission issues.
When troubleshooting on the user machines, If I open the report in design view and then open in Preview mode, it works.
Is the problem with the Form or the Macro or the Preview mode or maybe some Reg key that must be changed to allow reports as pop-ups?
