General :: Pull Data From SQL Server Based Off Of Order Number?

May 27, 2015

I am looking into re-creating something I have created in Microsoft Excel into Microsoft Access. What I do in the Excel spreadsheet, is when I type in an order number, various fields in the spreadsheet are populated using vlookups and ODBC's.

I wish to re-create this in Access but not sure how. I have a basic form, with various fields such as, order number, part number, description, quantity. What I have in my mind is that I would like to be able to type in an order number, then the rest of the fields would be populated by a query to a SQL Server database.i can see a way to do this using VBA but would rather look for a more direct way if possible.

General :: Expression To Pull Data From 2011 To Present Date

Oct 7, 2013

I am trying to create an expression to pull data from 2011 to present date. I need the data for 2011 to only reflect 1/1/11 through 10/7/11 (today's date in 2011). I need the same for 2012 and 2013.

I don't want to have to enter dates each time I run this, therefore, a formula would be preferred rather than hard numbers.

Would Like Field To Automatically Pull Data From Other Table

Apr 28, 2006

Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble with our receiving database. This database consists of two tables. One for vendors, which basically contains their vendor ID as well as vendor name and phone # etc. The other table is our receiving data table. When our receiving person receives product in, they log this in the receiving table including info such as date, autonumber for record, vendor etc. The problem is, when the person selects the vendor id, which is set up as a lookup field, we would like to have the vendor name pop up atuomatically within that record. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this isn't happening. The person is using a form to enter all of this data and runs a summary report at the end of the day. Our accounting dept. is requesting this info be added, but I cannot seem to figure it out.
Thanks so much for any assistance!

Search To 'pull' Data From Diff Table?

Mar 29, 2006

v sorry for the basic question, but ive been banging away at access and i cant my head around this..

i need to run a simple query. the query/ search will ask users to enter in the number of a document. i want, when this code is entered, for 2 controls on the form be updated with codes that are stored in a table based on the code they searched for originally.

heres my table structure...
Table A
Doc ID (PK)
Doc No (manually input and is the search item that users enter)

Table B
Unique ID (PK)
Doc No (FK)
Info (to populate field 1)
Info (to populate field 2)

how do i perform this in the query section? do i need to manually code the SQL required, or is this query basic enough that i can just select the fields required in the design view of the query?

thanks guys

Forms :: VBA Code To Pull Data From Different Table?

Mar 26, 2015

I have a form I use for data entry, it needs to generate an id called RO Number and i need it be generated by access starting at number RO129036 and then keep adding sequentially, so RO129037 etc etc.

as i already have data in my DB that i need i cannot just reset any fields

having a table with just one field - the numeric part of the RO number so first one would be 129036 - so i need the form to pull this field, add 1, and then add "RO" at the beginning of it? i have really been struggling with this database

Modules & VBA :: Pull Data From Query (or Table)

May 4, 2015

I have a table that has four columns. Column 1 had people's names, column 2 has their email, 3 has a category, and 4 has their office.

I have a form with radio buttons, When you check a radio button and press OK it will display the e-mails for the people selected. Problem comes when it's by category, since categories are not unique to one person. I want to click the category radio button and have it display every person under that category, concatenated with a comma.

Problem is I can't make a listbox because it will show the same categories several times instead of just once, so I want the radio button with the category name on its label, and then in the code I need to tell Access to go to the table and search for the e-mails from a specified criteria, the category.

How do I do this?

The tables are just text, but the query would be too long if it was used.

Modules & VBA :: Updating Dynamic Combobox - Pull Data From Table

Oct 31, 2013

Right now I have a subform with a combobox that pulls it's data from a table. I want the user to either select an existing item or type in a new item and have a macro create the new table row. What I have right now works in the sense that it prompts the user if they want to creat a new item and the new item is created (and I can see it in the combobox list), but I'm still getting an error saying that the item does not exist in the table forcing the user to manually select the newly created list item they just typed in.

Code:
Private Sub MaterialCostCode_NotInList(NewData As String, Response As Integer)
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
'Update value list with user input.
On Error GoTo ErrHandler
Dim bytUpdate As Byte

[Code] ....

It appears that the new item doesn't always show up automatically and requires the form to be refreshed, so now I need to figure out how to get it to consistently appear right away without a refresh.

I have a module that is in Excel that is connecting to a back end database. I am trying to pull data from a table that meets a number of conditions. Form Field To Auto Pull Data From A Table When There Is A Match

Feb 5, 2013

I have built a nice database that has a form to enter data which logs in product received, there is a combo box on the same form that is linked through the query builder to auto populate the names from the contacts info table (the receivers of the product received) the contacts info table also contains information that is specific to each name such as locations.

As of now I have created a command button that brings me to the form that shows the information fields I need specific to a name, once I get that I have another command button to bring me back to the main form. How to create an additional list box on the main data entry form so as when the name is entered the new list box or text box (which is best?) will auto populate the information I need on one form instead of going back and forth.

Example:

Requester Name [ auto populate name ] currently linked to contacts info table (working)

(New field) Preferred Location [ need to auto populate location ] from the contacts info table (how do you pull locations specific to a contact name from the same table?

Store Data From One Table In Another Table

Mar 24, 2014

I am a beginner working with access (2013). I am looking for a way to retrieve data from one table and store these values in a other table. The tables are in the same database.

For example:
Table 1
Input [OrderNr]
Input [Nr] (linked to Table 2 [ID]
Input [Amount]
From Table 2
Get [Product]

Get [Unit]
Get [Price]
[TotalPrice] =[Amount] * [Price]

The result should be wiewed as a datasheet.

Problem 1
I have made the form and the links between the tables and it works alright on screen. Except the sum-function It does not work. I can only get the amount of items in the summery field for column TotalPrice. Is it because it is a column for calculated values? Other columns including not calculated numeric values works alright with the sum-function.

Problem 2
The data from table2 will not be stored in table 1

General :: Where / How To Store Reference Information

Nov 12, 2013

I have not developed a database application before. At my work I was seconded to fill in as a team lead for a change management team. We are in a production environment and need to track the progress of product improvements. The current system is very complicated using an enormous Excel spreadsheet and a very bid MSProject schedule. It is very handraulic in the way it is maintained.

Before I started I reviewed who inputs data, who uses the data, and what metrics are reported. I can reduce the amount of data that is recorded by only generating many of the existing Excel fields through calculation run when a report is generated or a chart populated.

I need to track the state of several hundred minor changes through the production run. The reference data I need to store is serial number against production batch. This is fixed data that is not changed, only used as to show the entry point of a change into the production line and which serial numbers the change is applied to.

General :: Possible To Store Forms And Reports In Separate FE

Jul 27, 2013

I have an A2007 database used for time and billing. As time goes on I've had to add more forms and especially more reports. I feel the because of all these "additions" the FE is getting a bit bloated, something like 2.2MB right now. What I want to inquire about is the possibility of moving at least some (if not all) of the forms and reports to another FE and can this be done without having to move tables and/or queries?

The navigation pane is "hidden" from the users so they don't see all the tables, queries, forms and reports but some are smart enough to figure out to "unhide" the navigation pane.Concerning the forms; there are certainly some forms that I do not want other users to open out of curiosity, or for whatever other reasons they might have, so these I would want to move. The same basic reasoning would apply to the reports.

My thinking would be this; move a particular form/report to a separate FE that merely acts as a "bucket" to store the form/report. Clicking on the control in the main FE would open the form/report stored in the other FE using the tables and queries in the main FE.can it be done without having to re-write a bunch of code? I know I can add code so certain controls aren't visible to certain users but I've not found a way to permanently lock and hide the navigation pane.

General :: Pull All Records In One Query If A Value Exists?

All employees have multiple rows of data. There is one column titled JOB. I need to pull all rows of data for each employee ONLY if there is at the minimum one value for the employee in the JOB column. I do not want to pull employees that have no values in the JOB column. They can be excluded from the query.

Example of all record for one employee. I need to pull all rows of data ONLY if the employee has a value in the JOB column.

General :: Simple Store Keeping Inventory Database

Sep 9, 2013

I am trying to create a simple store keeping In and Out inventory database using Access, I thought I had made it but looks like I am missing something here.

The store works on SRV (Store Receiving Voucher) and SIV (Store Issue Voucher). Products will be added based on SRV and will be issued out based on SIV. So far I have created the tables as you can see in the figure. One thing I am not understanding is where to keep the record of the Current Quantity of each product, lets say an Item has been added or issue out, it should be added or deducted accordingly from that specific products overall quantity. Right now I have a sample field within products table as you can see with the name QtyOnHand but that doesn't seem to be logical.

Best Ways To Store Data

Apr 12, 2006

Hi
I am creating a contact management database.

I have set it up and now need to create an invoice section. An invoice needs to be issued every month and is worked out on a percentage of works complete. For example in one job there may be 10 items of work and for 8 of these iems 25% of the work is complete and the other 2 no work has started.
Therefore my invoice needs to be able to calculate 25% of the value of the 8 items and work out a total price to be invoiced. Each time an invoice is created I need to be able to store the invoice value and the percent value of each item complete.
Does any one have any ideas as to a good way of doing this. That is if you can undersatnd what I am asking for. Thanks for any help.

Where To Store Misc. Data?

Jun 30, 2005

I have a handful of misc. data that is unique an really doesn't fit anywhere... I need it to be easily updateable, as it will and needs to change from time to time, What should I do with it?

Some of the data is a "Common Footer" that prints on ALL reports and DOES change periodically. I decided to create a common footer table with a single value and can access it from all of my reports... it works great!

However, I now have a bunch of other misc. data that I need to store, like the "Working Year" (I am going to use the field to dictate which year of info to pull the data from) "Common Header", etc. Additionally, I am considering storing formatting data such as font size (still considering this).

So with all this explained, to sum it all up, what is the best method for handling all of this misc. data? I didn't think creating a separate table for each piece was the best idea.

Thanks for your suggestions!
