View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm running into the issue where some of my batch files don't run correctly when the Access Application runs them.
Batch File:
Code:
FOR %%F IN ("*.prp") DO IF %%~zF EQU 0 DEL "%%F"
FOR %%F IN ("*.drv") DO IF %%~zF EQU 0 DEL "%%F"
start "" "%~dp0Start.bat"
I believe that this is because the For loops above are deleting files and don't have permissions to do it when ran from the application.
How I can modify this VBA to launch as Administrator?
VBA Snippet:
Code:
Shell parent_path & "Copy_" & Get2000Or2100 & ".bat"
I am making a database to coordinate the activities of my band (how rock and roll!)...
Is there a way I can somehow host the file remotely, and have users (4 total) access that file through their own computer using access, so they can write, edit, delete records?
We have a db at my work that we use like this, accessing from multiple computers, though this is on a network drive.
I am trying to set up a link to a file folder on the computer fore each individual, it is not going to the individual people, it is just going to the one person where I put the link to file.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just split a database into the front-end and back end components. But how to distribute it further.
Additionally, I need people who have the front end to access the database from their homes, not just from work.
What would I need to use?
Is there anything available for free?
I have a file called CAPTURE.BUF. I am trying to convert it to text. Here is what I ahve done, but I get the message box ever time.
Public Function copyFile()
Dim SourceFile As String
Dim DestinationFile As String
SourceFile = "C:PCPICSWCAPTURE.BUF"
DestinationFile = "C:INVESTMENT_REPORTSCAPTURE.TXT"
On Error Resume Next
FileCopy SourceFile, DestinationFile
If Error > 0 Then
MsgBox "Could not copy mls file."
End If
On Error GoTo 0
End Function
I need to import a text file into access 10, the problem is as i understand it access has a db limit of 255 columns.
The text file is delimited by | symbols. As i tried to import, it shows me to have 267 columns and all the columns are unique and needs to be used for my work.
I have a search form built that depending on the dropdown selection on the form, it will run a query to SQL Server 2008 and provide data. There are 5 SQL Server db's so there are 5 different queries. I have each SQL Server linked to the Access DB. When I moved to someones else's computer I got a ODBC Call Failed message. In order to fix this, I had to recreate the links on that person's machine, then change the SQL code in the query with the new name of the linked DB.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy question is when exporting an access table to a text file using a fixed file format can you combine two fields into one field and if so how do you do it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi
I want to use a batch file to start the DB. This will check if the Front End is on the users machine and if not copy it over.
It will then check what version of Access they are running and use the appropriate shortcut to open the Database.
This all works fine except that the Batch File does not close down until the Database is closed. Is there anyway to close the Batch File automatically while the database is running?
The Batch file I am using is
@echo off

rem ** Batch file to copy FE **

I have a problem with write conflict error. The database is functioning normally and without any problems but on particular computer. the systems are same (windows 7) with office 2010.I have a form with subform based on query. Changing the records in a subform is without any problems, but on one particular computar, I am allways receiving Write conflict error message. When I copy / paste the database from the wrong computer to another one, everything is OK. When I copy / paste it back to problematic computer, the problem is back also.It seems, that the problem is maybe somewhere in settings of this computer.
View 1 Replies View Related"The key or key combination ^{Break} in FunctionKey_SubForm has invalid syntax or is not allowed"

The "FunctionKey_SubForm" is a macro in this database.
It only does it on my computer when I opens this specific database.
This database works fine (copied it elsewhere) on everyone elses computer and also when I use it one another computer, whether the database is on the server or on the C: drive.
Since it works fine on all other computers, it's a setting in Access which is throwing up the error (even if it is " invalid syntax or is not allowed"), not the database.
Database works fine after I click through it but it's irritating and I don't recall changing anything.
I am able to successfully export data from an Access 2010 Query to a Tab Delimited Text file without difficulty.My problem is that the Query includes several 'tick boxes'. The resulting text file shows the text boxes as 1 or 0 as appropriate. What I actually require is a Y/N result.To achieve the required Y/N result requires some fiddly find and replace editing which is complicated by the fact that the query also contains telephone numbers incorporating 1 & 0, This then requires further editing of individual records to convert misplaced Y/N back to 1/0. Is their any way that one can force the export to convert text boxes to Y/N rather than 1/0.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere is the import statement I'm using:
DoCmd.TransferText acImportDelim, "IT315 Import Specification_txt", _
"IT315", "D:4533 Hires Rehire Status ChangeIT315.txt"
I can manually transfer the data ie thru File --> Get External Data etc but I can't seem to get the above statement to work --- with the same specification!!
The details are in the attached doc file.
I am trying to import a non-delimited text file into access, but where there is a strict hierarchy to the records, i.e.
NAME:
AGE:
DOB:
etc. etc.
The field names are constant throughout the document but the pages are of variable length depending on what is in the fields.
When exporting a table from Access as a text file, it keeps adding .00 to the end of the number format records that I am tying to export.
Why it is doing that and what I need to do to prevent that from happening?
I am working on a website which has over 1000 pages that has the same code, but only a link that is different on each page. So, I thought that I will create a database and work my way from there. I was able to work the code and combine everything. Now would it be possible to export individual record from a query to a file with .html extension? If not, .txt will work as well. However, I want to have another field that would have the file names and the file is saved under that name.The query name is "Code Query" and the field name is "Final Code".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to make noise to another computer, or start same sound file or simply to call another computer on lan or through vpn connected computer using vba...

A little background. I need to export the results of a query I use to build a report. For Print Master software I need the "Field Names" in the text file as well as the data for a Mail Merge in Print Master (PM).
"The field name information in the file you have specified is missing or not correctly formatted. The first line of the file must contain the database field names. Make sure the "Export Field Names" (or similar) option is selected in the program from which you are exporting data."
Trouble is, when trying to export the report or query, Access has no "Export Field Names" option. It works if I first export to Excel and then from Excel to "txt" then to Printmaster. I would like to eliminate the Excel step. Therefore, how do or can I get Access Export to transfer the "Field Names" along with the field data?
I am trying to export a table (and possibly later a query) into a fixed width text file and I am not finding where to set the specifications. When I select Text File in the export tab, I only get the check box about Export datq with formatting and layout. Is that basically it? I do have the table set up with the correct widths for the fields.
An additional question:
This is a large table with 99 fields for a total width of 804 characters. Is there any limit for the six of a record for such an export?
I have a table with below fields and content:
container_nr_no Type time
AAAA1233456 210 12:30
BBBB1222234 45g1 13:30
And I would like to generate a output text file like below:
FLD00101=1
FLD00102=AAAA1233456
FLD00103=210
FLD00104=1230
FLD00201=2
FLD00202=BBBB1222234
FLD00203=45G1
FLD00205=1330
FDL00.... should be generated automatically, starting with 101 for 1st container and 201 for 2nd and so forth. The output should be in vertical manner.
I'm currently working on a project within access which will allow users to select/input information in a form which will then save to the database.
What I need is to create a button on the form which will allow you to convert the data collected from the form to a custom text file template.
(Or maybe the last row added to the database. - although this may cause errors. Example: the form information doesn't save which will in turn create a text file with the data collected from the previous job)
The custom text file template should have a sentence description followed by the value recorded from the form.
Example:
1 configuration type: (data from form)
2 model type: (data from form)
3 Poc: (data from form)
And so on.
So in summary - I would be to use the form to collect the desired information which will save to the database.
Once actioned, a custom text file should be populated with the collected information (with specific data placement as per the example above)....
