General :: Only Open MS Access Form Without Access Running In Background?
Aug 7, 2013
I have made a form on access which will be used by other employees within the company, however they have never used access before and they are wanting to access only just the form as I feel with Access and all the tools in the background will confuse them, plus I don't want them editing the data base its self.
Is there a way to only bring up the form, unless I obviously need to edit the date base.
I've done some research on Google and it seems I need to use:
SW_SHOWMINNOACTIVE
However I can not seem to find how I would use this or where?
and also if i did find a way to only bring up the form, how would I be able to switch it from that veiw to the veiw I edit in?
I'm using the changebackgroundcolor.zip sample that I found here at Lebans site. URL....I'm trying to find a way to keep the color that I picked after the database closes. I tried to follow the example here URL....but couldn't get it to work.how to get the color to stay on the color that was picked from the dialog box?
I have a macro set to email a form to a person once a condition is met. This works fine but I've discovered that Outlook (2010) has to be open BEFORE this macro is invoked.
I wanted to add a step to the macro before the one that makes it email that basically says to open Outlook.
I have tried the RunApplication macro, but I apparently am not getting the path right. I don't understand what the problem is.
I accidentally dragged Outlook to my desktop and therefore created a shortcut from my Start Menu, but now when I go to Microsoft Office in my Start Menu, Microsoft Outlook isn't one of the options. I can't find the path to where it may reside now.
I am using the path to the shortcut on my desktop.
I have an access form that fills an access table (MS Access 2003). Also, I have a Word (2010) document/template with some template text and empty fields which should be filled with data from access. Is it possible to insert a button in access form which would open a word document and populate appropriate fields with data from that form?
I was wondering if this was possible. I did a search on Google and on this form and I could not find anything. Is it possible to display a form without displaying Microsoft access in the background? In other words I would like to display just the form alone with access running or if possible a way to have access minimized with the form still showing. If anyone knows any tricks on this could be performed I would be very grateful.
My database is slowly coming together. For the final part of this phase i would like to create a shortcut on each users desktop which runs a summary report of information within my database.
I have criteria set so upon opening the report the user is asked for which address they wish to see information from which works great. But I do not want users to have access to the database, I just want them to be able to click a shortcut, be asked what address they are looking for and for the report to ping up in a 'Print Preview' type layout so information can be seen and displayed but not altered. All users have the access program.
Form_A (main form for the application - should always be open) Form_B (always open, but sometimes has visibility set to false) Form_C (opens from button on Form_B)
When I press the button on Form_B, the only code behind it is DoCmd.OpenForm "Form_C". This seems to hide Form_B, and open Form_C behind Form_A (which is the main form of the application) inside of an Access window.
I would like Form_C to open in front of Form_B. I suspect that I set up the form incorrectly or something when I created it, and it is therefore opening inside an Access window.
I have MS Access on my PC however wish to move the accdb file to a network location to allow other network users to have access to it.
Unfortunately a few of the other users do not have MS Access. Is it possible for them to still open the database without any admin or background - I would like them to be able to use the forms and 'front end'.
I use below simple command line to start a macro in my Access database. Usually all works well. I start my bat file, command is executed and macro does its job.
However it always fails if I have a session of Access already opened even if it is a completely different database. If I use below then it opens another sessions of Access but does not execute the macro. I need to go into the second session and run macro manually. It works fine then.
I was successfully using a front end and back end setup for the past two years. Today I needed to push through some changes and "deactivate" the previous back end database and setup a new back end database. The new back end database has been sent; however the front end is not recognizing the back end database anymore. I need to re-link the existing front end to the back end database - I cannot import the front end into a "fresh" file because I put a password on the VBA Editor.
when I open a pdf through access weather it is by hyperlink or attachment it always opens the full size of my monitor, if I open a pdf outside access then they open ok , how do I set the size that access opens the pdf the size I want.
Having a problem here after installing 2007. All my previously created databases work fine in 2007 (after clicking the enable, which is a pain, but don't know any other way) When I return to 2002 and try to open the databases I get different errors all something like this on....... "The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events. Whats up here?????I have found a site here...http://allenbrowne.com/bug-17.htmlMentions this problem, but refers to Vista..... Does the same apply to XP? And which is the best fix?
I have MS access database. The database is password encrypted. I do not own this database but it is critical for me to see the contens of this database. I do not want to edit the contents.
We have an old Access 2000 db that is used by most of the company. I also have users who use it via a windows 2003 terminal server. I just created a new win 2008 remote desktop server and installed Access 2000 (What a pain that was).
Now from access, if I go to fileopen, navigate to the DB server and open the DB, it works fine. If I create a shortcut to the database on the desktop of the remote server, nothing happens. No error, no warning, no nothing. It's weird.
If I place a copy of the db locally, it opens just fine.I also tried mapping a drive to the db server and then made another shortcut and still nothing. I also created a shortcut and entered the path like this:
I would like to change the color of the actual access database background. I've done my forum searching and found many many threads explaining how to do this but i cant open any of the sample DB's. Access says the file is readonly and you need to be able to edit upon the first opening or something to that affect. I assume its becuse the sample is a newer or older access than im running(XP)
Sorry to rehash old threads but i cant get the info from them. Can anyone help..Grey sucks ha
I am currently using Access 2010, and have successfully split a database, using the Access wizard. However, whenever a second or third user opens the database - with their front-end database file - they encounter the following message; The Microsoft Access Database engine cannot open or write to the file ". It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data.
I have researched the internet and see that it has something to do with network permissions. I have worked with my IT department and this appears to be resolved!
Is there a setting I need to check in the front-end and/or back-end copies of the databases? Why is there no file name in the error message?
I have several queries that perform an audit on data. I want to create a form that has two buttons, multiple labels and textboxes. When the first button is pressed, it runs all queries and returns a count of the records within each query into the corresponding textbox. Then I want a a button that will clear all textboxes. I don't want to see the queries, I just want them to run in the background and the count results to be populated in the textboxes.
Private Declare Function ShowWindow Lib "user32" (ByVal hWnd As Long, _ ByVal nCmdShow As Long) As Long
Public Function fAccessWindow(Optional Procedure As String, Optional SwitchStatus As Boolean, Optional StatusCheck As Boolean) As Boolean
If Procedure = "Hide" Then dwReturn = ShowWindow(Application.hWndAccessApp, SW_HIDE) End If If Procedure = "Show" Then dwReturn = ShowWindow(Application.hWndAccessApp, SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED) End If If Procedure = "Minimize" Then dwReturn = ShowWindow(Application.hWndAccessApp, SW_SHOWMINIMIZED) End If If SwitchStatus = True Then If IsWindowVisible(hWndAccessApp) = 1 Then dwReturn = ShowWindow(Application.hWndAccessApp, SW_HIDE) Else dwReturn = ShowWindow(Application.hWndAccessApp, SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED) End If End If
If StatusCheck = True Then If IsWindowVisible(hWndAccessApp) = 0 Then fAccessWindow = False End If If IsWindowVisible(hWndAccessApp) = 1 Then fAccessWindow = True End If End If End Function
I am using Access 2010 and trying to hide the background access window, so that only my forms are visible to the end users.
After researching, I found these VBA codes, but I always get an error. I have changed all my forms & reports to Pop-up and Modal. This is the code that I use on OnLoad of the Main (first form):
When I open my the database- the mian window is still there and I get an error
"The espression On Load you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: Only comments may appear after End Sub, End Function or End Property.
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Even Procedure]. *There may have been an error evaluating the function, event or macro.
All access application is realized as MDI container. (if I'm right)
In this case it is possible to set the MDI object background image instead develop splash screen. This picture always in background form open another forms or reports, does not depend on the screen resolution, etc, etc ... Splash screen must be removed in order to realize the other forms or reports.
How to set Access 2013 application backgroundimage, and backgroundImageLayout?
