i have aform which class module where i make 2 queries the first works fine but the other always return values with zero my select syntax is in clsschool and the query is
I'm trying to replace a null value with $0.00 for the second field in a query. My first try at the SELECT stmt did not contain any solution for a NULL value. The result was that it skipped the record. I need it to show 0.00 because the field is used in another calculated field.
My SQL:
SELECT tblRecovery.CustID, IF((Sum([tblRecovery.RecAmt]) IS NULL, 0.00, (Sum([tblRecovery.RecAmt]))) AS SumOfRecAmt FROM tblRecovery GROUP BY tblRecovery.CustID;
This returns : Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'IF(( etc.
After clicking "OK", access highlights AS in the statement. I'm not sure how to deal with the NULL value or fix the error?
how to do to return a text for each row (as field value) when a table field contains "1" as value ?
for example i have a table named "products" with a field/column called "promotion". Sometime a product is promotional, so in this case, the "promo" column holds "1" as value.
during a select on products table, how can i do to return "in promotion" (e.g.) if the column "promo" holds "1" for a product ?
I was just wondering if this is a possibility to do in one query or if it has to be run from a number of different queries.
I am currently developing a database from scratch for work (with very little Access experience).
The current query I am trying to run, if linked to a number of tables with different information.
What I am trying to do primarily is link stock to a specific "Host Name", "Serial Number" and "Part Description".
In the "Host Name" there is for example - A1-TX10-10001, B1-TX2-10004, C1-TX-10004 - The latter part of the name is a unique identifier number. The first part is the compartment in which the "stock" sits. So you may have all three components (A1-TX1, B1-TX2, C1-TX3) linked to the same unique identifier (10001 for example)
The serial numbers naturally are different for every single one and of course the srial numbers are linked to the "Part Description" - which will read something like....."C1-TX3 Transmitter", "B1-TX2 Combiner" etc.....
When I run the query like this the Host Name (which is also linked to the unique identifier on its own (10001) it returns everything under "A1-TX1-10001"
What I would ideally like to do is write a statement so that if the "Part Description" contains "A1-TX1" it will only return rows that contain "A1-TX1" in the Host Name and the same for "B1-TX2" and "C1-TX3" in the same query.
If "Host Name" contains "A1-TX1" to return "Part Description" to contain "A1-TX1"
I've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. Access 2010 keeps giving me a syntax error when I try to run the query & I don't know why:
My code is:
On Error GoTo Err_Command151_Click
' Declare variables Dim db As DAO.Database Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef Dim varItem As Variant Dim strCriteria As String Dim strSQL As String
[Code] .....
The syntax error I get in Access 2010 is:
Syntax Error in query expression 'SELECT * FROM qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK WHERE qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK.Rep ortableName IN('Adbri Masonry NSW');'
INSERT INTO Enrolled_Students (Last Name, First Name, Address, town/city, county, postcode, phone number, date of birth, age) SELECT Last Name, First Name, Address, Town/City, County, Postcode, Phone Number, Date of Birth, Age From Candidate Details Where IsNumeric (Student ID);
I am upgrading an Access 2000 system to 2007 and replacing user toolbars with Ribbons.I have a strange parsing error that I think is not my error.
I have placed the following control into a group:
<control idMso="GroupPrintPreviewClosePreview" label="Close Preview" enabled="true"/> and "the system" rejects it with Error Code 0x80004005 Element <group> is not expected in <group>I
t turns out that it is finding the word Group within the double quotes and interpretting is at part of the XML syntax.
Change to another idMSO and the problem goes away. Same happened with another control that had the word Group in the id.
I have a website which uses a series oif ASP/VBscript scripts to access and update an Access database. It has run for years on a shared commercial service.I also have a replica of the wesbite on my home pc for development and testing running under XP Pro and IIS. All works fine.
Recently I have had to switch my home setup to my laptop (also XP Pro and IIS). The scripts all appear to work ok except when I try to UPDATE certain tables.
Some give "Syntax error in UPDATE statement." Some give "Data type mismatch in criteria expression." Some work without error
Yet the identical script and table on the main site and my home PC work fine and have done for years.
I have splited the system into foreend (FE) and backend (BE). FE and BE are located in different PC lying in company internat! However, I found there always give an error message 3219. And, nseems it is caused by not pointing correcly to the BE when I open tables, the syntax are as follows
Dim db As Database Dim rs As Recordset Set db = CurrentDb() Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("Invoiceyr", dbOpenTable) rs.MoveFirst rs.Edit Me.THISYR = rs!Invoiceyr
The 3219 error appeared at statement "Set rs = "what's the syntax of the path that I should include in the statement in order to point correctly the BE.
I've come across a simple error that has me baffled. I continue to receive the run time error 3075: Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'tblMasterPersonnel.FirstName"042" Or (tblMasterPersonnel.EmpID)="044"))'
Here is the strSQL
Code: strSQL = " SELECT tblMasterPersonnel.EmpID, qryiuSSN.SSN, ""SSN"" AS [ID Type], """" AS TXN, tblMasterPersonnel.LastName, " & _ "tblMasterPersonnel.FirstName, tblMasterPersonnel.MI, """" AS Suffix, IIf([tblMasterPersonnel].[Gender]=True,""F"",""M"") AS Gender, " & _ "tblMasterPersonnel.Birthday, tblMasterPersonnel.PlaceBirth, """" AS [Country Code], """" AS Country, tblAddresses.Phone1, " & _ "tblAddresses.Street, tblAddresses.City, tblAddresses.State, tblAddresses.Zip, tblAddresses.Country, " & _
For instance, first table export to EXCEL CELL A1 and then second table export to the same EXCEL but to CELL A5! I simply do not know the sytax to tell ACCESS to do the correct export!
e.g. DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel9, "EXPORTDATA", "c:EXCELSHEET.xls", True
I have a textbox on a subform and I want to get the sum in a string as follows.
Code: Dim s1 As String s1 = Sum(Forms!CountItem!CountItemLastCount.Form!ThisCount) MsgBox s1
When I use the above I get an error message saying - Sub or function not defined and it highlights the sum part of the equation.
I have been using the sum criteria in a textbox but if the user doesn't tab of the box then it doesn't see it as being updated.
I have tried me.dirty and everything else that usually works like send keys tab event, requery form and controls, a left mouse click but nothing is working, therefore I thought that code to actually update the textbox may work.
I have a subform when a user presses Return Or Enter it doesnt go to a new record but instead enters a new line in the same records how can i prevent this from happeneing.
I have a form with a field within it called ID number, another table contains the ID number with a person's name next to it. I was wondering how I can make it so that in the form, when the ID number is entered, the name of the person also shows next to it and does so automatically for each different record. I am pretty sure that a subform is needed however it doesn't seem to work for me so I must be doing it wrong. How would I do this?
I have a function which I want to return the value of a field.
Public Function fieldValue(tblName As String, fldName As String) Dim drs As Recordset Set db = CurrentDb Set drs = db.OpenRecordset(tblName) fieldValue = drs.Fields(fldName).Value drs.Close Set drs = Nothing End Function
I need to return the value obtained, for a specified User identified with a numeric variable. What is the best way forward? - Some sort of filter or DLookup and how to code this?
if there is a VBA command that returns the current view of the current active report. I am running code the uses the SetFocus Action, which works fin in Report view, but when I try to go to Print Preview view, Access throws an error stating that the command or action is not available in the current view - and the GetFocus action is the culprit.I can skip the GetFocus action if I know the Report is in Print Preview mode.
My combo boxes are not returning the actual combo box values back to my table, instead in the table it is displaying the combo box data list number i.e 1,2,3,1,5,1 etc where it should be displaying a property address.
I am wanting to make a text box on a form, to return a number (amount of records returned by a query)basically so if the query returns 5 records, the text box on the form will show"5",
Lets say the form is called "A", and the query is called "B" .How do I put this in the source control of the textbox ? < if this is right too ?
I'm using Dmax() to return a max number in a field which I then want to inc by 1 for a new record. Dmax is returning 999. I believe Dmax therefore thinks it's a text field. So where do I change this to a number field?
I have a subformClientOffers on my frmAllProperties. On the subformClientOffers is a field called Outside Agents. This field allows for multiple values to be selected.
The subfrmClientOffers is in datasheet view.
While the field Outside Agents DOES allow me to select more than one, they post in the field one after another:
Ken Shaw, John Doe, Jane Doe, Harlan Bestlyn
Therefore, the datasheet view of the subformClientOffers causes the field Outside Agents to get very long, much too long to view without scrolling. My client wishes for everything on the frmAllProperties to be viewable without scrolling.
Is there anyway, to cause the field Outside Agents to place a return between each selected name (sort of a wrap text kind of thing)?
One thing I might mention is that the field is a drop down field from tblOutsideAgents. The table itself has First Name and Last Name, but I concatenated that into Fullname on the form, so that when the user opens the drop down they see the entire name. I don't know if that would have any effect on making the 'return' thing work or not.
I can't use this field as a subdatasheet because I already have one subdatasheet attached to the subform to show multiple notes on each Client Offer.
I have a table with Zip CODE field. I uploaded my information to this table form an excel file. There were over 120K rows of data so no way i could do this in excel.
So I found that some of the ZIP codes are either blank or have less than 5 digits.
Can I build a a query with the ZIP code field that will return all zip code records with less than 5 characters or blank. I'd like to repair these zip codes and a update query will be my next step.
I repeat excel is not an option because when I try to sort by the Zip Code column my computer explodes (okay not literally) ....
I have a simple UDF that takes a string and returns a variant, which is an array of strings Example Input "Brick Wall" Return value would be a variant array with first element "Brick" and and second element "Wall" Now I have a table with a field of strings, and I want to make a query that returns all the results from the function, one per line.
So if my input table looks like this
[strField] "kick the ball" "return the pass"
my query result should looks like this
[Orig] [new] "kick the ball" "kick" "kick the ball" "the" "kick the ball" "ball" "return the pass" "return" "return the pass" "the" "return the pass" "pass"
Last time I had to do something like this I used VBA exclusively, with ADO objects, but I thought a query based solution would be easier.
With my current data the largest return array size my function returns is 27 elements but I wouldn't want to rely on that number being fixed.
If I write a select case statement for a field X i.e. 6 to 7 for example will this:1. Select any fields X where the number is greater than or equal to 6 but less than (and not including) 7B. Select any fields X where the number is greater than or equal to 6 but includes decimels of 7 i.e. 7.5 ORC. Select any fields X where the number is greater than or equal to 6 but includes but literally only includes cases where the the whole number 7 appears>I only ask because in an example in a book I am looking at says:Case 10000 to 20000......Case 20001 to 30000I would have through the word "to" means until but not including but in this case the field that equals 20000 would never be selected?
