General :: Way To Fix Parameter Value So That All Queries Update At Same Time
Oct 10, 2012
suddenly all the old queries crash (message: enter parameter value). The table name is Exactly the same. Columns in the new table are also the same. Is there a way to "fix" the parameter value so that all the queries update at the same time.
In criteria of a Query I have this SQL: Like [Forms]![FSearch].[qb1] & "*"
This SQL is to write in a textbox one parameter at a time to search in a table.I need to search for more than one parameter at a time and I have been trying to add to the SQL the operator OR or AND but does not work.
Like [Forms]![FSearch].[qb1] & "*" OR Like [Forms]![FSearch].[qb1] & "*" Like [Forms]![FSearch].[qb1] & "*" AND Like [Forms]![FSearch].[qb1] & "*"
How can I search for more than parameters at a time?
Hi,Not sure where to post this as it covers both queries, forms and partly tables.ISSUE:I need to add two records to a query with one record in a form. Is this possible?BACKGROUND:This is a database with TV programs and the times they are to be broadcast. Tables:One table. "table_programs" contains the information about each program (title, description, length etc.). The other table, "table_times" has the times for the programs (date, start_time etc.), where one program can be shown multiple times.Query:There is one query, "query_programtimes", that combines the above two tables + two calculation fields. One calculates the end time of a program by adding the start time (from the times table) and the length (from the programs table). The other calculates a file name, based on the weekday of the date field.Form:The form is based on the "table_programs" table, with the "query_programtimes" as the data source for a subform. There I enter a program and in the sub-form one or more times for it to be broadcast.So far so good. The form adds one record to the query for each time that a program is broadcast.Now what I'd like to do is to add another record in the query for each scheduled time. That is for entering a file that will be played when a program is finished. That is, it'll take its title from the file name that is calculated in the query and the scheduled programs end time as its start time.Alternatively, and perhaps even better, this data could be in its own query and then a third query can combine the two to get the full schedule.Is there any way to do this? That is, one entry in the form is supposed to update two queries at the same time.Hope I made myself clear... :)Thanks!
I am trying to populate a list box with an event after update in a combo box. I can get the formula to work using 2 criteria, the problem is i nee to add a third criteria. When I try to add it I get the run-time 13 error.
Here is the code I am trying to use:
Private Sub cboStatusRFQ_AfterUpdate() Me.cboSupplier.RowSource = "SELECT DISTINCT [Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool.RFQ Contact] " & _ "FROM Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool " & _ "WHERE consolidated_master_req_pool.Complete = FALSE AND [Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool.RFQ Supplier] = '" & Nz(cboStatusRFQ.Value) & "'" And "[cosolidated_master_req_pool.Status] = '" & "[SUPPLIER_RFQ FOLLOW-UP]" & "'" & _ "ORDER BY [Consolidated_Master_Req_Pool.RFQ Contact];" Me.cboSupplier = Null End Sub
I am trying to automatically update one table to another each time a new record is added to my form, I have tried using the Update and the Append Query is there another way to do this without using code?
I need to know if possible to create multiple queries or reports at the same time. We have large table that is updated monthly this report gets broken down manually by Manager (30 managers in total) hen email to each manager.
Report or query specs will never change only the data I could do this manually create and save query/report for each manager once but I was wondering if there was code that will create all the queries and reports at the same time.
I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) When the user chooses a time in the combo box, I want the time portion of the text box to be updated with the chosen time in the combo. I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it right.
I have a value list combobox (cboShift) on my form with selections as "1st Shift";"2nd Shift";"3rd Shift" and a subform that should filter my records based on the shift selected on the mainform.
My data fields in my query are [TimeStart], [Time Stop], [other fields]. I would like that e.g. when "1st Shift" is selected, it should filter my records based on the [timeStart] that falls within the range, and so on.
I really don't know how to handle this, even to set the time range parameter for this... I have written this function for a start. To continue, i ask for your help or guide. Please help????
Function fShiftWorked(strTimeStart As DateTime) Dim strOperatorStart As String strOperatorStart = FormatDateTime(([tblTimeLog]![timeStart]), vbLongTime) If strOperatorStart >= #8:00:00 AM# And strOperatorStart < #5:00:00 PM# Then strTimeStart = "1st Shift" ElseIf strOperatorStart >= #5:00:00 PM# And strOperatorStart < #12:00:00 AM# Then strTimeStart = "2nd Shift" ElseIf strOperatorStart >= #12:00:00 AM# And strOperatorStart < #8:00:00 AM# Then strTimeStart = "3rd Shift" Else strTimeStart = "2nd Shift" End If End Function
Formatting issue regarding elapsed time calculated using DateDiff().
I understand that you can specify the output value for DateDiff(). In my case I have chosen "n" for minutes. Each result in my query shows the correct calculation in terms of minutes.
[PunchIn] = 11/23/2013 8:11:28 AM [PunchOut] = 11/23/2013 5:43:30 PM
Now when I try to format the result in terms of H:MM (be it in a form or a report) I get varied results. I'll illustrate an example below:
=Format(([ShiftLength]/60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 10.32 Not correct
=Format(([ShiftLength]60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 9.32 This is correct but I need my result to be in the form of a decimal such as my next example
=([ShiftLength]/60) Returns 9.53333333. Getting there but how do I have this result only show two decimal points 9.53?
I am trying to figure out how (if it's even possible) to update a field with the string of a parameter query search result from a different field? It doesn't have to be all in the same query.
I have a memo field that I want to search on with a parameter query, and then plug the text from the search into a different field.
So, source field called MEMO, destination field called FURNITURE.
Search for 'chesterfield' in MEMO, plug 'chesterfield' into FURNITURE field for returned records.
I'm going to be doing this hundreds of times with different strings, so I think it has to be a parameter query (unless there's a better option that's equally dynamic). Or, is there another way to bulk-update?
Oh, and I'm running Access2000 on NT4.0. Any help is greatly appreciated. And Hello from Vancouver, Canada.
I am trying to use a Combobox BeforeUpdate Event to achieve a required result.
I have two combo boxes inside a frame. The first is a year number 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014
The Second is the Week No ranging from 1-52, but 1-53 in some cases and this updates accordingly with the year number selected.
When the user has selected Week 53 and then changes the year to a year where only 52 weeks exist I want to Cancel their event.
I have already made a function to determine if 53 weeks exits however when I come to do the Cancel Event, the combobox for the year doesn't change back. It stays on the users new selection.
Below is the code that I am trying to use:
Private Sub cmbWeekNoFromYear_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) If UpdateWeekNoSelections Then Cancel = True Me.cmbWeekNoFromYear.Undo End If End Sub
'cmbWeekNoFromYear is the name of the combobox which holds the year number 'UpdateWeekNoSelections Simply returns True if I want the users change cancelled for cmbWeekNoFromYear
I have a lot of tables that need updating often, so I delete the old ones and re-import them then run the queries again. From time to time, I add / remove columns but in the case I removed columns that are NOT needed in the queries.
So, I ran the queries again and they run fine but it says "Enter Parameter Value" for a column that is no longer there. It's not in the SQL code either.
So where is it trying to get these columns from and how do I fix this?
I have a linked table tblHome which is stored in a Sql Server DB and I want to create a form with 3 fields in it i.e. fieldA, fieldB, and FieldC in it and a button.
I want to add values to fields fieldA and fieldB and fieldC and when I click the button I want the value in fieldA to update any records in the linked table tblHome which contains the values in fields fieldB and FieldC.
I have a crosstab queries which uses the date query parameters. However, when I go to my Export command (code is below), it ask me to enter the date parameters (start date and end date) twice. What do I have to do so that the system will ask me to enter once only?
Code: On Error GoTo Err_cmdTest_Click 'Must 1st set a Reference to the Microsoft Office XX.X Object Library Dim dlgOpen As FileDialog Dim strExportPath As String Const conOBJECT_TO_EXPORT As String = "qryEXPORT"
My membership database has worked fine until recently. Now I cannot save inserted data. On attempted saving "Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit" appears.
The problem. relates to 2 tables Member and Addresses. PK in the parent table Member is ID. In the Addresses Table the FK is ID. There is a One to One relation between the tables and Referential Integrity is set. I know 1 to 1 is not good but it worked fine in this small database.
I am trying to create an Access database where I can let the employees enter their time-in and time-out, at the end of their shift. I already created this function working, but running into another issue. Everyday, employees need to enter a break. Sometimes they take a break and sometimes they don't, if they work shorter hours. Thus, the break is not a default 30min and has to be enterd by the employee.
Below is the code I have to calculate the total hour:
txtCalcTime has the below code in control source: =Int([CalcTime]/60) & ":" & Int([CalcTime] Mod 60)
Control source for this form "FrmTimes" property, in which Txtcalctime resides:
QryTimes "QryTimes" query has the code below: SELECT TimeID, TimeIn, TimeOut, Brake, DateID, DateDiff("n",[TimeIn],[TimeOut]) AS CalcTime FROM EmpTimes;
This shows the total number of hours worked. But how can I make it to substract the break time entered by the employee in "txtbreak" on FrmTimes
I have finger print machine and i already connect to it and get all log.then i tray to get data and here is the code that im using
SELECT Format(CHECKINOUT.CHECKTIME,"dd/mm/yyyy") AS CDate, IIf([CHECKINOUT.CHECKTYPE]=I,Format(CHECKINOUT.CHECKTIME,"hh:nn:ss ampm")) AS StartTime, Format(CHECKINOUT.CHECKTIME,"hh:nn:ss ampm") AS EndTime, USERINFO.USERID, USERINFO.Name, CHECKINOUT.CHECKTYPE FROM CHECKINOUT INNER JOIN USERINFO ON CHECKINOUT.USERID=USERINFO.USERID WHERE (((Format([CHECKINOUT].[CHECKTIME],"dd/mm/yyyy"))='10/04/2014'));
I need a Select Query to display data on a form. When an order is appended to my table the field named Printed is updated with the time it was appended. When my form opens it needs to display the field Printed and a field I call MinutesFromPrint. This field needs to display the total minutes elapsed from the time in the Printed field to the current time. My expression is not working.
MinutesFromPrint: DateDiff("n",[Printed],Now())
Here are a couple of samples of my results when I run the query at 7:49 A.M.:
I have 5 queries that I am running. The first query has the date range parameters set in the field area that I need to run and each additional create table query is based off the results of the previous query.
1. Which is better to use to run all of the queries in one simple step? A macro or a form? I am exporting the final table to excel so that I can make some additional adjustments off of it.
2. How would I setup the date range parameters for the first query if I were to use a macro without going into the query itself and updating the date field? I tried setting up a macro to run the queries by using the OpenQuery action for each of the 5 queries, but I cannot figure out how to do the date range.
why I get a pop up asking for parameter value of fields I no longer have in my table? It says this when I open my form. I deleted the fields from my form but it's still asking for it.
I'm trying to perform a DELETE query at run-time. The criteria for deleting records is somewhat complex due to various one-to-many dependancies between the tables, overlapping of date fields etc., so in order to restrict the DELETE to only those records which qualify, I've set up a load of smaller queries to produce the list of eligible records.There is only one parameter required - a 'CutOff' date which is arbitrarily chosen by the user and is available in a textbox control on an open form when the code is triggered.
Here is the main DELETE query :
Code: DELETE DISTINCTROW [tblComments].* FROM [tblComments] INNER JOIN [qryCommentsToPurge] ON [tblComments].[CommentID] = [qryCommentsToPurge].[CommentID] WHERE [tblComments].[CommentID] = [qryCommentsToPurge].[CommentID]
I've put qryCommentsToPurge and all the cascading sub-queries below - have highlighted in red where the parameter value is required (it is used in the queries to identify the records which must be retained, i.e. not deleted)Each of the individual sub-queries works fine and correctly (they return the correct population of records that they were designed to)If I run the sub-queries manually, I am prompted to provide the CutOff date, as you would expect - and the recordset returned in each case is correct for that date.
If, however, I run the DELETE at run-time (with the form containing that textbox open and containing a valid date value) I get a 3061 error :Suggesting that the queries can't pull the parameter value from the textbox on the form. But I've stuck a watch in the debugger on [Forms]![frmArchive]![txtCutOffDate] and I'm getting the correct date value? The form is open and available at the time.So why can't the query see it? I use these kinds of control references elsewhere in other queries and they work fine. I don't understand why it's a problem here?
Code: SELECT [tblComments].* FROM [tblComments] INNER JOIN [qryIssuesToPurge] ON [tblComments].[IssueID] = [qryIssuesToPurge].[IssueID] ORDER BY [tblComments].[CommentID];
I get an error "update or cancel update without add new or edit" which seems to point to this code.I am using MS Access 2010.
Code:
Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) 'Store when record was last modified and by who. 'Initially stores when the record was entered. If Me.NewRecord = True Then Exit Sub 'Exit if new record Me.DateLastModified.Value = Now() Me.LastModifiedBy.Value = getUser() End Sub
