Generating Reports Based On Dynamic Query
Mar 2, 2005
Hello All,
How can I create reports in Access based on dynamic queries? I did a lot of search on this but couldn't find anything reasonable.
Any help to get me started will be extremely appreciated.
Thanks

I have a queries that do all the calculations and dumps the output to Query X for all different types of customers. At the moment I am required to generate a report for each of the customers and send it to them, manually.
End Goal:Initiate a Macro (at a given time at a given frequency) that would run a process to generate different reports for all different types of customers using a standard report template. I am also trying to avoid having to create a report for each customer (as the customer base grows, the report count will grow) so looking at something that would look into Query X and generate # of reports depending on number of customers.

Here's my problem. I need to generate a report that says how much of each individual product was produced and as well as the total produced for a specified category in a time period. Something like the following:
05 Catagory A: 02 Product AA, 01 Product AB, 02 Product AC
10 Category B: 07 Product BA, 03 Product BB
04 Category C: 01 Product CA, 01 Product CB, 01 Product CC, 01 Product CD
etc...
I currently have a query that queries a database and pulls out all products that were produced in a specified period and the categories they belong to and dump them into a local access table. Now what I need to do is search through the query results and count up how many of each product were produced (02 AA, 01 AB, etc...) and the totals for each category. The number of categories is pretty limited (6), but there are hundreds of product codes, so I need a way to do this without having to type in each induvidual product code as the requirement by which the query searches. Also, the product codes that get returned are different every day.
I was thinking something along the lines of take the product code of the first row and check for any others in the results that match and write that into another table. Then move onto row 2 and use its product code as a search parameter and search through the query results for any matches. Then continue that until the end of the query results. Can I do that? Is there a better way to achieve what I need?

Hi,
I wish to use the results of a crosstab query in another query which will make table. The trouble is the field names are not always the same in the crosstab.
The results are coming from a normalised table so if there are no records for a particular field then that field will no appear in the crosstab.
I need to make my 'make table query' (qryTabletImport_CollarMakeStaging) account for the missing fields names when it tries to make the new table. Since I have made the make table query with all availble field names I get this error when some are not present.
<the jet engine doesnot recognise 'qryTabletImport_CollarConvert.Hours' as a field name or expression>
(because the field Hours doesn't have any data in the normalised table)
make table query - qryTabletImport_CollarMakeStaging
Crosstab query - qryTabletImport_CollarConvert
normalised table - tblTablet_HOLEDETAILS
Hope this makes some sense to someone.
I am ok with vb so am willing to go that way but getting my head around which way start is another issue
Cheers

We have a ComboBox on a form with the months: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, etc.
We have fields in a budget table named: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, etc.
We want to create a query that pulls the correct field based on the value in the combo box.
This is what I have that doesn't work:
MyField: [Query1].[SumOf] & Forms![Main Menu]![test]
How to do this?

created a form with several Drop downs, S/N, Location, Manufacturer, Model, Model Number, and Owner.
All the drop downs are based off of forms, i queried the main inventory to have this info and a couple peaces of information. applied the relationships.
If i try to make a macro filtering the conditions, if i leave any of the fields blank nothing comes up in the search.
is there a VB code that i can use that wont include "null" fields or will this not work with 6 different filters applied all in one macro.
furthermore after the search i want the ability to print the search results using a report design.
is this possible?

Hi,
I have a table that looks something like this:
Company Product Sales
1 A 5
1 B 2
1 C 7
2 A 8
2 B 1
2 C 2
I want a query to produce a table showing Products A though D which is
the sum of Products A and B. Result:
Company Product Sales
1 A 5
1 B 2
1 C 7
1 D 7
2 A 8
2 B 1
2 C 2
2 D 9
I have many rows and many summations and the current union query and
supporting queries are pretty messy and not easily changeable. What
I'd like to do is have a third table which would hold the summed
product names and the formula used to get to it (Product D, A + B) and
have a query that can be dynamically based off of that table. Do I
need to use VBA? Does anyone have a better idea? Any help or even a
good search term would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Nathan

I have a database with a bunch of related tables. One holds information on (let's say) types of food. A field in that table tells whether the food is HOT or COLD. Foods are grouped by MEALS in a related table - the PK of the foods table is stored as an field in the MEALS table. What people here are looking for is a report that lists all the foods in each MEAL, the temperature of the food, and whether the meal is HOT, COLD, or MIXED - foods are both HOT and COLD. I've got a report that lists all the FOODs, grouped by MEALs - it's just the overall temperature of the MEAL that I am missing right now.

This probably is a very stupid question but I am a new user and have been pulling my hair out for a week over this. I have created a report and linked it to my table but it generates a list of all of the values in my table on the report. What I want is a way to generate a report page for every row in my database table grouped on a key record that is unique to each data row. If anyone has any advice it will be much appreciated, thanks.

I've got a simple invoice database with 10 amount fields, that needs to be summed up intoa Total including Gst box on a monthly report.
Report only has Date, Invoice Number And Total Amount fields on it, so I need to pull the information from table and sum it into Total Amount.
ie. = sum ( t1 +t2 + t3 + t4 + t5 + t6 + t7 + t8 + t9 + t10)
and sum above divided by 10% then added together to form total.
I'm just not sure how to do it, everything I've tried so far ain't worked.
Every example I've looked at is only doing maths with 1 field.

I have a report that is purely for points gained from products. Each product is split into 3 (e.g. Investment A, B + C) and there is a indicator that means the points gained can be added up (e.g. I for Investment and S for Savings).
I have made the report which is many unbound fields. There is a summary section for all points added together with fields Total Amount, Monthly Target, Quarterly Amount and Quarterly Target.
Then the report is split into each of the 4 products (Each of these have different amounts of points. Number indicates it):
Investments (10), Savings (15), Pensions (15) and Protection of Life Savings (20).
Each of these have 4 fields - Total Amount, Target Amount, Quarterly Amount and Quarterly Target.
I need a way to generate these point scores using the Product_Points field. I already have Quarterly Target and Target Amount because there is a set field called Points_Annual_Target.
EDIT: I also don't want it to come up with the 'insert parameters' so all the info is one page.

The input form of the database have one common table containing data for all parameters for row source. As all data was in one table had one ID. My problem is I am trying to run reports from a form after selecting dates and parameters.
For selecting parameters I created dynamic combo box. For dynamic combo box I needed ID and description of the parameters. So I created separate tables for each parameter with ID and Description column. Which ran me into the problem that when I run report based on main input form which has different row source table and my report form has different row source tables and reports doesn't run when I base my queries on the report form.

I have a booking sequence. Sales representatives take an order on a booking form and then then click a button to draw up the related report. The form is showing all Booking forms, not the specific one just taken.Do I need an OpenArgs statement? I've tried that but can't seem to get it to work.

I have a large table with a number of fields. I have written the query that I want but can't quite work out how to get it to do the main thing I need. I have several fields that I need to generate in the report but what I want it based on is the field called Date Approved.
When the Date Approved has been Active for more than 4 weeks I want to pick it up in the report. I don't want to set a date to start from but pick up everything that has passed 4 weeks in "Date Approved".

I've seen this question asked in multiple places but do not understand the answers (yet). I haven't worked with the ribbon and XML before.
I'm able to turn off the navigation panel and the ribbon completely which gives the user a nice, empty screen. However, when reports are selected, they open up in Print Preview but the ribbon doesn't return with the Print Preview.
In short, how do I get the Print Preview ribbon to return when generating a report?
Access 2013.

I have 12 months' worth of data that the user wants displayed on a crosstab report. I have no problem creating the crosstab query or subsequent report. However, the user wants to be able to select their own 12 month time period. So, my crosstab is based upon a make table query, that will allow the user to enter parameters.
Now, my problem is that these 12 month column headers/data will change as the user enters different date ranges. How do I write the code that will allow me to pass these variables to the report? I'm using 97.
Thanks!

I'm currently working on a project that calls for a graph that is based on an equation which the users can change while in the database.
the equation is basically an annual compound interest formula: 65*(1+x)^([YearNumber]-1), where x is the rate of change as a decimal, and what the users can change.
I've tried to use a simple query with this equation as one of the expressions, where the x is displayed as [Rate as decimal], but when I do this, I get an error on the table: the database engine does not recognize [Rate as Decimal] as a valid field name or expression.
I've also tried tying the equation to an unbound text box on a form called "RateasDecimal", with a button that opens the form with the graph on it, but I get the same error - except [Rate as Decimal] is replaced with "forms!form1!RateasDecimal".
is it possible to create a graph like this in access.

I have a form with payment information and need a list, what date the payments are due. These can be only 2 or 3 payments up to maybe 24 payments. The result I want is something like this:
Date Amount Total paid
1.7. 500.00 500.00
1.8. 500.00 1,000.00
The list itself is not a problem, but I need a list who only shows the number of payments as agreed, 2 lines (with paydates) if 2, 12 if 12 payments. I have the information of the total amount, the number of installments and the first payment date.

I have a crosstab Query as the source for my report, of course the issue is the column headings on the report. I have Purchasers as a row heading, Year as a row heading, Month/Year as a row heading, Meter as a column heading, PaidMCF as Value and, a total as a Row heading. My issue is feeding the column headings on my report with the meter names.
Purchaser 1 has 23 meters attached
Purchaser 2 has 1 meter attached
Purchaser 3 has 6 meters attached
Purchaser 4 has 2 meters attached
Purchaser 5 has 16 meters attached
Purchaser 6 has 11 meters attached.

The last 4 columns contain the values I need to take the sum of. I have put some code in the open event procedure of the report.
Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim db As DAO.Database
Set db = CurrentDb
Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("Select * from Que_ProjectUren_Sel_Dept_Test")

I'm currently creating an invoicing report for a company, and for record purposes they need a dynamic field on the report for the specific Invoice Number of each client they invoice. I have the field set up currently as a text box =[Invoice#] so they have to enter an invoice number when they generate the report. However, when I generate the report and put in a number, I'm getting some whacky outputs.
For example, I've tested it with a test client, and when I give the client an invoice number of 1, the report somehow changes it to 49.
