I'm having difficulty getting my import to work... when i call on the original XML file I get too many tables... when i call on the XML file using the transform function of Access with the XSL file it gives me only two tables "body" and "tr". Body contains the value "Weather" and tr contains the value "Day".
Import the day as month/day/year into a field "Day" in access table "WeatherSFCAL"
Import the Fahrenheit temp from the high section into the field "High" in access table "WeatherSFCAL"
Import the Fahrenheit temp from the low section into the field "Low" in access table "WeatherSFCAL"
I am having difficulty importing a large txt file into my database, due to the first column containing a * prefix. normally i would just go through the document and delete it, but this file is quite large at over 100k records.
Is there anyway of importing this file in access 2010 and telling access to ignore the first column?
I inherited a defective Access 2010 and am now attempting to import a RECORD consisting of fields of xls data.
I am attempting to import from an existing Form Datasheet so that it overwrites (or appends the new data to the datasheet) from another identical Form Datasheet because it contains an additional 1000 contacts in it.
I have resulted to Using an .mdb file from over a year ago because the current .mdb keeps hitting "The Microsoft Access database engine could not find the object (Error 3011)"
My initial opinion is that the more recent .mdb it is corrupt.

when I copy from Clarksville.xlsx the employees names and try to paste into a new Access database*. It says:
Text is Too Long to be Edited
I am unsure what to do next to deal with this error. The internet says to increase the size of the cell where the text is being pasted. I am not sure how to do that.
I have a saved import that my office will be performing monthly (or more often). We pull a report from another system that comes out in a delimited text file. I prefer to keep the header row in the document - I don't want to force my personnel to remove the header row, but I also want the header row to be available in case we need to import it to Excel or provide it to other users - with no header row they may not be wise enough to figure out what some of the data details.
However I receive the "Unparsable Record" error currently when importing.
Is there a way to prevent the first row from importing to the table so we don't get an error table created?
Code:
Private Sub UsersUD_Button_Click()
Dim Alert
Alert = MsgBox("Have you updated the F9046REP text file?", vbExclamation + vbYesNo, "Confirm Update")
If Alert = vbNo Then Exit Sub
DoCmd.RunSQL "DELETE * FROM F9046REP_Table"
DoCmd.RunSavedImportExport "F9046REP_IMPORT"
End Sub
I have been trying to import Outlook (2010) floders into Access 2010. So far, I have only been able to import 1 folder at a time. I have also tried linking the access database to Outlook, not much luck there. What I was wanted to do was import the pst / ost file into access and then work from there.is there a way to import the Inbox and all sub-folders at one time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet that I'd like to import into Access 2010 however prior to the import, I'd like to delete some of the rows in the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet only has one workbook. It will likely always be rows 1-10.I have already set up the Excel 14.0 Object reference, if that's even necessaryHow can I accomplish this using either VB or query?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have had Access for all of one day now. I am trying to import an excel file into access as a table. I successfully imported the first file but the second file gives me an error that says "An error occurred trying to import file ____. The file was not imported." What are the possible reasons this error has occurred? Both excel files I am importing are in the same format, so I am confused as to why one worked but the other did not. Thanks for any help.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUp until recently (not exactly sure when) I've been absolutely fine importing text files into Access 97 with the import wizard, where the file extension is .log Now, every time I do it, I get Error 3027 unable to update as database/object is read only.
if I change the filename to .txt it works, but if I leave it as .log I get that error.
I am importing csv files into tables in a batch routine and I get the following error messages. The error number is always 2391.
Field 'F1' Doesn't Exist in Destination Table
Field 'F4' Doesn't Exist in Destination Table
Field 'F36' Doesn't Exist in Destination Table
I understand the first one and can find references to this on the web but the F4 and F36 escape me.
All fields required do actually exist in the table so the real problem is elsewhere.
P.S. I now think that it may be that there are embedded commas in one or more of the text fields and that the number following the 'F' indicates the position of the field in the table. I will check in the morning or create the csv files using commas and quotes.
I am trying to create a txt file to import into our accounting software. I get the file (its blank), but it fails on the WriteLine and i get the run time error. I have a command button on a form that the user will click to export the file.

Dim cnn As New ADODB.Connection
Dim rst As New ADODB.Recordset
Dim strPath As String
Dim strPathGB As String

I'm trying to open a ddb file with Access 2010 and Access asks for a password to the file. The ddb file is the source file for an Invoices and Estimates Pro database. Invoices and Estimates Pro won't run correctly on Windows 7 in XP mode, so we're upgrading our invoicing to a Windows7 friendly program. However, we can't upload the ddb file data from our old program into the new, we need to first convert it into csv, which i'm hoping to use Access for. However, Access is now asking me for the password, which was never set in Invoices and Estimates Pro.
Is there a way to see what the ddb file password is? Or a work-around? This will save us literally a hundred hours of re-entering all the inventory data into the new program.

I have set a reference to Adobe 10 Type Library and Adobe Access 3 Type library. I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader X. I now read them by converting to text file and using FileObject to read the text file and VBA text commands to get the right fields.
Any issues with using Access 2010 to edit an mdb file..I know there are backward incompatibility issues with 2007 and 2010, but these are both accdb formats.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following code which successfully opens the dialog box with filters however when I add a function with an Excel import, the filters do not work at all (no files are shown even though they exist in the directory that's opened within the dialog box). If I manually type in the filter (i.e. *.x) it still shows the files. The function at the bottom was provided by cheekybuddha from another form, I'd be lost on getting the Excel file imported into Access. Here's the VBA code (the Function is also included at bottom):

I just upgraded to Access 2010. I was able to solve all migrational issues, but my custom ribbon is showing two File tabs, one that I created and the default access file tab. How to get rid of the default File tab or at least disable it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedPreviously in Excel / Access 97 / 2003 I made a little tool that would search for files in specified locations - I modified the code so that it would search for files based on what was entered in cells.
I believe a lot of the old code doesn't work in Access 2010 and it seems like a lot of the old file searching code I used to use no longer works.
Is there code available that searches a directory and lists results?
I have a downtime system that was created by our IT department that records the downtime of the line stops, it has export to excel button that will export the downtime to excel based off the parameters of date and time. I want to do the export then import to access for downtime analysis. The problem I am having is the programmers export it as HTML with .xls file format. and the worksheet has a date associated with it as well as the spreadsheet has a tab that contains a date and I can't figure away to import to a fixed table. So I tried the transfer spreadsheet not knowing it was in HTML, couldn't recognize the format, then I tried transfer HTML, can't find the file because of .xls file format. I know I could re-save it as a excel file but was trying to keep the steps to a min. Is there a way to import even though it has a date attached to the file and spreadsheet tab.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. Access 2010 keeps giving me a syntax error when I try to run the query & I don't know why:
My code is:

Hi, I have an xml which fields of text and some of numbers.
When I do: File --> Get External Data --> Import; I'm able to import the file.
The problem is that not all the data is entered in the fields. The colums containing the text are excluded.
While importing, I did choose the option "Structure and Data", so it should work.
Any suggestions on to why it is doing that?
Thanks.
I have a dbf file that I need to somehow get the table data out of, and into access, excel, or some other usable format. I searches the MS Knowledge Base and read several articles on updating the Jet 4.0 drivers (up to date) and updating Foxpro ODBC drivers, etc. I also searched these forums, and I have yet to find any solution that works.
I think this dbf file might be Foxpro, but I'm not sure. I don't know anything about Foxpro. I was getting an error message "unexpected error from external database driver (8961)", until I read an MS article stating that I should change the name of the Borland folder to BorlandOld and try re-importing. Now Access 2003 just says: "external table not in the specified format".
Hi,
I have a text file with comma separated values. What I want is a single access query to import this text file into an access table. I know this can be done through import text wizard in access - but what I need is a single query.
I have done the same thing for transferring oracle data to an access table - but for text file to access, I am getting -7778 error.
This is the query I have written
SELECT * into MY_ACCESS_TBL from [odbc;Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};Dbq=MY_TEXT_FILE_PATH;].[MY_TEXT_FILE.txt];
Please help!!

Is it posible to import only some CELLs from excel file to access. for example i wont to import only A1 , B10 , E14 , C3 etc.?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Access 2010 database .. and will be adding about 25,000 records a day to it. So it will get pretty big fast .. so 9 million a year. Is this too big for Access ?? Or is it more a issue of file size .. I know that Access 2010 can go up to 2 GB. I am interested in how I can maximize my performance and not have the database. The data is as follows .. One table. The other tables will be small, just this one will increase in size really.
Id .. Autonumber (primary key)
When .. datetime
Radio .. integer (indexed .. w duplicates)
Group .. integer (indexed .. w duplicates)
Type .. text 4
TransType .. text 2
I am considering a purge of old records if needed .. like only keeping the most previous 5 million records or some reasonable number. Like .. then I would think I should try to number my records backwards (using long int rather than autonumber and number records backwards on import) .. ie record 1 would be the most recent one and only keep the last X number of them for performance reasons.
