I have a table with products catagories with different
weights: Each record is listed by the product name and by each weight
i.e. 100 has three records 100 5lb; 100 10 lb; 100 20 lb; 200 5lb 200 10 lb
etc. There are 6 different catagories. I'm trying to have a combo box that list
the different catagories 100, 200, 300, 400, etc. and when the value is clicked on,
the weights will appear in a different combo box that will display the cost and what's in stock
in separate text boxes.

I downloaded a demo database (attached, Expiry 200 ) witch allows me to distribute my databases in demo mode with the option of registering a full copy. this works a treat so far. :) but now i want to modify the code but i cant work out were the values in the frmsetexpiry are saved to (the registry maybe?) IE: max number of times, company name etc.
any help will be much appreciated with this thanks rob
The thing I've been trying to do is make it so that my form filters my records, and I'm trying to make a between function for it. My form is shown below in the attachment.
What I need to do is make it so that my form filters my records Between the two year boxes AND between the two Length boxes. But I need it so that if nothing is in the boxes, it shows all records, and if something is in only the Year boxes, it only filters the years and not the lengths.
Code: Field: Length Criteria: Between [Forms]![SearchForm]![Length1] And [Forms]![SearchForm]![Length2]
Then in a separate column I had
Code: Field: [Forms]![SearchForm]![Length1] Or: Is Null
This works fine if it's only for Length, but if I try to do the same for the MovieYear boxes, it screws up and just shows me no records...?
i have a search form (see atachment1) with 2 combo boxes. i have a pruduct form that runs on this query:

if i start the the product form, it asks me for the make, and then for the player » it finds the right player in the form. but via my search form it won´t work. it only opens the product form and no records are shown.
so: in the search form, when i select a "make", and then the "type", and then press search. i want it to show the right record in the product form. + when i select a make (eg "apple"), i want the type combo box to exclude all the types that are not from apple (eg only: ipod mini, ipod 20gb. right now it´s like in atachment2.
i know this is a common question, been trying to figure it out with a eg database, but i can´t get it done. all help is welcome
I used the Contacts demo on Access 2010, made all the elements Client from web based and then exported to a new database. It worked for the most part but now I am trying to put in a 4 box search and am getting stuck on which form to link it to and also where to put these boxes.
As a user types, combo boxes have a "live update" function that fills in the rest of the box based on the row source of the combo box. Can a user can use the arrow keys to navigate through the current options based on what they have currently typed?
I'm thinking of something like when you are typing something into an internet search engine, multiple content options appear below and you can either continue typing--thus narrowing the result--or use the arrow keys or mouse to select one of the content options that have appeared.Is there any function similar to this in Access?
I have a database and a form that is based off of a simple table. The table has NO look ups and all of the formatting is text. The form is continuous and simply displays these fields. (Kind of like a company roster with name and department). I have two combo boxes at the top of this form in the header with the intent of filtering the form records by department and employee type (lets say A or B).
I have tried every way I know how to get these records to filter and they will not filter correctly. Utilizing methods I have used in multiple other databases, I set the two comboboxes to cascade based on a query in the recordsource. The vba I'm using in the after event of each combo is ....

This filters the records but independently. So, cbobox1 filters the records to show all Brand 1. When cbobox2 selection is made it shows all the Personel_Type of the selection however the first filter is already disregarded. (i.e. When cbobox2 selection is made, it contains both brands instead of the one I've just selected and filtered in cbobox1. )
Outside of making two queries to account for each possible filter, I have tried setting a filter on the filterON, I have tried a SQL based VBA code, I have tried making two forms and attempting to set the filter on open but either way, nothing keeps the first filter selected (or the FilterON, or both SQL filters, etc). The ONLY way I have found to get it to filter both is with the filter function in Access, which is not useful as my users will not have access to the menu bars.
I have this EXACT same setup in another database and it works fine with 3 cbo boxes with an after even to set a filter for the recordsource for all three.
I get a bizarre situation while I am using MS Access 2010 to select values with Combo Boxes on a form, i.e.:
* After I select one or more values from the drop-down list of a Combo Box, there is no response when clicking OK button using the mouse. It is stalled. I need to do the process again and then the mouse-click on OK button could work: click anywhere outside of the combo box, re-select the values, click OK Button, and done.
* However, I can always use Enter key (on the keyboard) upon OK button to complete the selection.
* The values in the drop-down list of the Combo Box were entered manually.
What is wrong with the combo boxes on the form? Why do I need to do twice to complete the selection using mouse-click? Why the keyboard-click ('Enter') can be always OK but not for the mouse-click?
I have several comboboxes (6) on my form.How to populate these comboboxes with values depending on selected value in previous combobox.
Example.Lets say that you select value "Audi" in combobox 1, then available values in combobox 2 should be "A4","A6","TT" etc. and if you selected "BMW" in combobox 1, then available values in combobox 2 should be "3-series", "5-series" etc...
I would like to set up rules/constraints such that the value selected in combo box A determines the available values in combo box B. For example, "Combo box A" is bound to the [PartnerType] field and "Combo box B" is bound to the [PartnerRole] field. Let's say that the two choices in Combo Box A are "LLC", "LP", and "Corporation". There are 5 possible choices in Combo Box B: "X", "Y", "Z", "Q", and "U". If a user selects "LP" in Combo Box A, I would like Combo Box B to only show choices "X" and "Y". And if a user selects "LLC", only choices "Y", "Z", "Q", and "U".
Similarly, I would like to set this up so that Combo Box B is not initially visible--it becomes visible when a user selects "LLC" or "LP". If a user selected "Corporation", Combo Box B would remain hidden.
I have created a simple database, with 2 x tables. The first is a 'Week Ending' table, with a dateid key and Week Ending field. I have created several week-ending dates in order for a user to input details of work done the previous week. The second table contains the details of the work.
I have a one to many relationship between the dateid in the first table, and a dateid of the work details table.
I created a query based on the work details table, and created a subform from that. In a main form I linked a combo box to allow a user to select a date and the relevant work details appear in the subform. However the Week Ending field only shows one date, not a list of the dates I created.
I have a main form that filters data in a subform based on selections via combo box users make on the main form.
So I have the 'department' and 'manager's name'. If someone selects 'Human Resources' from 'department' combo box, then I only want to see the managers that are in the Human Resources departement when I drop down the combo box for 'manager's name'. Currently I'm seeing all the managers and a user can select a manager that is not in human resources and get no data returned. I prefer for him to get a list of those that are in that department only. The source of the combo box is a query.
Once a supplier name is selected from the combo box i only want it displayed that suppliers products in the subform, subform. (products combo box) I can get a basic query to show these results but can get the combo box to do the same.
We are creating a simple database to maintain driver license information for faculty, staff, and students who use cars from the university’s motor pool.
To do this, I have created two tables: tblDRIVER and tblLICENSE.
The fields in tblDRIVER are: pkfDriverIndex strLastName strFirstName strInitial strAddress1 strAddress2 strCity strState strZIP datBirthDate
The fields in tblLICENSE are: pkfUpdateIndex fkfDriverIndex datDateUpdated strState strLicNumber datExpirationDate ynViolations ynActive
Information about the driver is stored in tblDRIVER and the driver’s license information is stored in tblLICENSE. Periodically, we run a report that identifies drivers whose licenses are due to expire within a certain number of days. All this works fine.
My problem is that I am trying to create a lookup form that will load from a data entry form that will permit the Motor Pool Clerk to look up a driver by name and review the licensing information (which appears as a subform).
All this sort of works- I am using a combo box (based on a query) to look up a driver’s last name (which it does) and to populate all the driver’s information on the look-up form (including license information in a subform). Currently, the combo box locates the driver (including the unique index, last, and first names), and populates the form with first and last name but the rest of the information is not displayed on the look up form. Worse still, sometimes one driver’s last name matches up with the first name of the next driver listed in the table! This seems to happen only if a look up is attempted more than once. What gives.
I have some combo boxes on a form which are set to display all the distinct values from a field in my database. If any record has a blank in this field, then a blank entry appears at the top of the list box. Is it possible to set blanks to be excluded?

need help., have a form, have put a combo box to display values from another table, works ok, but when a type a new value, it displays 'not in list', so how to add the value to the table without opening the other table or any other suggestion, should i select values in combo box from a query... :eek:
I'm really hoping this is just a little bit of code here, but here's what I'm trying to do, without success so far...
I have a cascading combo box field called [Name], which is linked to a table that only has 3 columns, ID, Name, and Number. The combo box displays the Name column, with the other 2 hidden. When a name is selected from the list, the neighbouring field [Number] is auto populated with the Number column in the combo box. This works beautifully in saving some data entry time. My issue, however, comes when I try to export data into and Excel format. The two fields, [Name] and [Number] display as numbers instead of their values. What do I need to do so that the names "stick" as words, not as numbers?
I know this must be related to the hidden ID column, and that forms don't store any actual data. I tried to modify the table design, but then it throws off the auto-pop function on the form. I thought it may have something to do with joining the table fields to each other, but I couldn't get that working either. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

I've tried Me.ListBoxFind, Me.ListBoxFind.Value, and ListBoxFind.Value. In all cases, a message box pops up asking for ListBoxFind (in this iteration) and then the filter works with the value I type in. It just seems that the value from the ListBoxFind never gets into the code. ListBoxFind is a combo box with four columns and the value bound to column 1.
How can I specify the list that appears in a combo box by programming it with VBA. I have eight unbound text boxes on a form and I want a combobox to generate its drop down based on the values in these boxes. I think I'd have to create 8 variables and take the values from these text boxes and assign to the variables. The bit I get stuck on is how to make these variables appear in the combo box list.
I have a combo box displaying refference values. Those refference values when i select them once i do not want to use it again therefore i do not want to be displayed again. Is it possible to do that? Maybe with After Uptade code i can do that and how?
I have a serial no combo box which displays serial numbers available for shipment. What i need is some way to make the combo box show the values 'serial numbers in stock' (simple sql) when the [tocompany] is not 'CVP' and to show 'serial numbers out' (another simple query) when the [tocompany] is 'CVP'
Basically i need to change the row source depending on the value in the [tocompany] field.
Hopefully this is a really simple requiring a simple answer.... hopefully
On one of my forms I have a combo box thats values are generated by a parameter query. On my computer and a couple of others i tested it (on the same network) this combo box populates fine, but i put it on a couple of other computers today and it doesn't show any values. I checked and the query itself runs fine, plus a combo box that runs off a table populates fine.
not too sure if its relative but the database is split with the tables sitting on the network share and the database sitting on the main computer. or perhaps this could have something to do with blocking unsafe expressions.. i am not sure
any help on this would be greatly greatly appreciated
I have combo boxes on a form which are pulling values from a one table and being stored in another table. However they are being stored as '1' or '2' in the other table once selected on the form, as instead of being stored as their literal values ie 'car' or 'van'. Is there any way of making this happen, as it makes reporting a nightmare! Thanks in advance...
