Grouping Based On What's Selected In List Box

Hi,

I have a form with 1 List Box. This list box contains the names(SSN, Department, Status) of the columns in TableA.

The question is, can I create just ONE query statement, and base the GROUP BY on whichever field the user selects?

For example, if a user choose Department, then the query will group by Department. I know how do this by the long way; meaning I create 3 separate for each,(qrySSN, qryDepartment, qryStatus) and if say the user select SSN, it will open the qrySSN query. This is way too much maintenance. I have a feeling there is a much easier way. Please advice.

I have a table with a primary key as date, and various other fields with numerical values. I also have a query that calculates running totals for each of these fields, as well as including the fields from the table.

I need to create a report or form in which I can select a date(primary key) from a drop down list.

I need the selected date to determine a row/value from a field (a running total from the query)

I then need to use that value in a formula;

result = sum([field]) - value

What I am trying to do is calculate the difference between the sum of a field, and a specific row/value in a calculated field containing a running total of the original field.

I am still trying to get a hang of development in access 2010.

I would like to design a form with a listbox or a combobox which holds all 8 of my reports (a table has all the reports), with a Print and a Preview view buttons. In addition, the user must be able to select if they want to view the report by month, quarter and the year in question.

How do i have a specific report print or previewed based on the value selected in the listbox or combobox and the date criteria.

Reports:Grouping, Then Sorting, Then List?

Ok Second issue: I have a list of companies that each offer 5 different programs. Eash Listing in the query (My report is built on this) has both a column for the definition and a colum with a number idenitfying the amount of people in the program.

What I need is to HIRE someone, but maybe I can do this:

I want to list each company and all 5 programs associated with that company; easy and its done.

Then I want to have a summary at the bottom of the report that goes to each company, takes the 5 programs for maybe 1, maybe 3 or maybe 92 companies, and lists them in order. Order = the top 5 programs for all the different companies. See and it gets complicated because sometimes, a program can be the largest for every company in the report, and then the second program for each company is different for each each company. So I need to arrange the programs in an order. then sort them by size, and them only show the top 5.

PLEASE, if you got through this far of my irrational and illogical brain then maybe you can help

Grouping Results Based On Date By Month

I need a subgrouping for a report I am working on.

I have a DateIn field that contains date as mm/dd/yy. I have managed to get a count of all of a certain type of document that came in during a certain period of time that usally spans a quarterly period. So typically there are three months in the query. I would like a subgroup that breaks the numbers up in the 3 month period by each month.

So if a total of 150 docs moved in 3 months it shows 50 moved the first month, 50 the second, etc. I believe this is grouping by month. I have not been able to determine the criteria for getting the query to group by a single month as well as the three months period being grouped by document type. Here is what I have so far.

SELECT ctblDocuments.DocTypeID, tlkpDocTypeList.DocType, Count(ctblDocuments.DateIn) AS CountOfDateIn
FROM ctblDocuments INNER JOIN tlkpDocTypeList ON ctblDocuments.DocTypeID = tlkpDocTypeList.DocTypeID

Pass Selected Value In List To Text Box

I have two forms - Notes and JobLookup
Notes contains a number of text boxes for entering data, one of them being for Job No. Beside it is a link to the form JobLookup. This form contains a simple listbox that lists all the job no. Is it possible to pass the selected job no from this list to the text box on the Notes form?

Open A Record In A Form When Selected From List Box

I have created a form, which extracts records from a table and displays them in
a list box. This works, but what I want to do next is highlight a single record in
that list box, click a button and have the record open in another form. This is
the code I have at present:

Multiple Items Selected From List Box Through A From Not Passes To The Table

Can some one tell me why, on the attached database example, I can select multiple items from list boxes
"TipoCliente" and "FaixaEt" through "frmClientes" form but they are not passed forward to table "tblClientes" ?

Try to onpen attached database example and use form "fmrClientes" and select multiple items at
"TipoCliente" and "FaixaEt" list boxes by entering them with mouse click and Ctrl key pressed .
Select also single item from
"NivEns" Combobox and write anything on "Nome" and "Apelido" fields .

Go to the table "tblClientes" and you can see text fields "Nome" and "Apelido" and also the item "NivEns" from Combobox "NivEns" are all there but not the items you selected from "TipoCliente" and "FaixaEt" list boxes .

What is happenig ?

Automatically Inserting A Date When A Item Out Of A List Box Is Selected

I have a MS Access database, which contains three main tables. With these I have a completed table, which holds either Yes/No within it.

One of the tables, I have linked to the Completed table as a list box, which when a job has been completed, either yes or no can be selected.

But, what I want to happen, is, when the Yes is selected, I want Access to insert the date the 'Yes' was selected, so that the employee cannot lie about the date the job was completed.

Hope I have explained this in a good enough fashion.

I don't have a clue how to go about it, could anyone help.

I want to use an array to store data from a list box into a variable. I want it to be able to store one value, or multiple values, depending on what is selected.

Main problem: this list box feeds off a table which has employee names and their e-mails. The list box itself only shows the names, and when I select what I want the array to store is their e-mails, not their names.

I expect/hope to first calculate the sum of a cost field and then minus the value of its corresponding calc field from a specific record.

result = sum(cost1) - calc1 selected record value

I want to select the calc1 record from a drop down list of the primary key. Which cost field is in the equation will static/defined as I intend to make a textbox for each field.i need to know the code to pick a field(and retrieve it's value) from a record selected via dropdown list.

Changing Display Based On Record Selected

I'm this is a simple issue. I have a combo box which can have the following status's: Not Started, In Progress, Complete. Depending on the value of the combo box i want a different image to show. So if not started is selected i want the user to see a red box. If Complete is chosen, a green box will show. i can do this easily enough but my problem comes in when i go to the next record. The boxes just stay visible regardless of what option is displayed. What event is triggered when you go to the next form?? Form Open / Load doesnt seem to work.

Need To Update A Field Based On Selected ControlSource

I have a combobox that selects the customer and shows related information on that customer such as phone number, cc#, etc..

now the trick is i need to allow the selected member to be added to the order information.

For instance, the user selects the customer "Bob" and bobs information is displayed to check for accuracy. After the info is approved the user will continue to process his order. In order to do this I need the customer ID to be the same as the selected customer in the combobox.

Then the user will proceed to fill out the order information, location, date, time, etc.

How can I go about doing this?
