Grouping Data Into Sections From A Field?

I have a database with a list of clients. One field is for their date of birth.

I have to report on equality and need to know how many clients we have within the following age groups:

16 - 24
25 - 34

35 - 44
45 - 54
55 - 64
65+

I have looked through the group and sort functions and cannot see anything obvious.

I have a table which stores meeting room booking information in half hour slots.
If someone books a 2 hour meeting then 4 records would be produced – one for each half hour. I want to produce a query which will group the data by room (ScheduleID) showing the max and min times (ie the initial start time and final end time) for each event and the event details. The table structure is as follows

ScheduleDetailsID, ScheduleID, CustomerID, ScheduleStartTime, ScheduleEndTime, meeting purpose

And the query I have tried is as follows:

SELECT [Schedule Details].ScheduleDetailsID, [Schedule Details].ScheduleID, [Schedule Details].CustomerID, Min([Schedule Details].ScheduleStartTime) AS MinOfScheduleStartTime, Max([Schedule Details].ScheduleEndTime) AS MaxOfScheduleEndTime, [Schedule Details].[meeting purpose]
FROM [Schedule Details]
GROUP BY [Schedule Details].ScheduleDetailsID, [Schedule Details].ScheduleID, [Schedule Details].CustomerID, [Schedule Details].[meeting purpose];

Can anyone tell me where I have gone wrong. It does not group the data as I want it to ie by room, then time, with only the initial start and final end times. Thanks in advance. Peter

Hi, Last piece of advice i got from here was excellent so thought i would try it again,

I have records that show delivery days and postcodes some post codes have more than 1 item going to them on several days through the week i was wondering if i could group the same postcodes together so it only showed 1 record instead of a possible 15 but only those delivered on the same day, Is this possible?

Grouping Daily Data By Week

Hi all,

I currently have a table that holds 2 months of data. Let's just use January/February 2004 as an example.

The field name is [DateReceived] and goes from '1/1/2004' to '2/29/2004'. I need to group my records in 7-day spans for a future query, so anything from 1/1 to 1/7 would be grouped, etc.....

I have no idea how to do this. Any help would be great.

Grouping: Data Access Pages

G'day,

Putting together some data access pages to display data from tables.

All is good except a property that I do not like, when there are multiple records in the returned recordset from the query to the page, I have grouped these by ID (for example).

Each time you move to next record the display contracts back to just the top level of display, that is with the the ID number displayed in a text box and a "+" to expand it out to see the details of the record under that group.

I would like have it always expanded to show the details of the records as I scroll though the ID numbers (the top level of grouping), rather than having to expand for each ID number to see the details.

Not sure that is clear, but any ideas..........

Queries :: Grouping Data By Week And Display

I am trying to create a query that will group my data by each week so I can sum up some numbers and display them on a per-week basis... Prefer the week to start on Sunday but really not picky about it.

Using the following in the query design window.

Week of Year: Format([Date],"ww")

This is returning:
1
10
11
12
2
3
4
and so on.. See the problem?

I tried sorting but that doesn't work.

I also tried the following:

Format([Date],"mmmm,ww")

But this is returning
December,51
December,52
February,8
February,9
January,1
January,2
January,3

Yes, there are some weeks without data but that's not the problem. The issue is that its putting February before January.. Why is this? Again, I tried sorting options and several other techniques but no success.

I have a Date field, (an Expiry Date) and I want to use this in a Report that with Group the Report into Months. So we know, such and such a month, these are set to expire. I am trying to remove a "sort and grouping" field from my report. I delete the field from the menu by using the "backspace" key on my key board. I am getting any error, invalid sort field. When I put something into the field, the error goes away. How do I delete a sorting field I do not want??

Query Datetime Field And Grouping By Date Only

I'm losing my mind on this one. Here is my situation... I receive a daily excel sheet with these fields. I would like to import this workfile into access and would like to manipulate it anyway I want. The problem I'm coming into is that I can't collapse/group the datetime field into just the date when I run a query. I would like to be able to run a query on any date range the client registered, a query on any and all the unique dates the client purchased something, all the unique clients, etc. Here is a sample

Queries :: Remove Grouping On The Field If Do Not Select A Value For It

I'm trying to allow my users to do some analysis of existing data. they would like to be able to generate a report which will summarize sales orders against the month they were placed. They would also like to summarize this by between 1 and 4 other fields.

I have created a "filter" form to allow them to choose the values for each of the 4 fields and my plan is that they will leave them blank if they do not want to narrow them down. My problem is that I would like to remove the grouping on the field if they do not select a value for it.

Example data:

Field1, Field2, Field3, Field4, Cost, Month, Year
1,2,3,4,£20,4,2014
1,3,4,5,£10,4,2014
1,2,4,5,£5,4,2014

If they select nothing for any of the fields I would just want to see that my total for April 2014 is £35

If they select 1 in Field1 then I want to see one line with a total of £35 (i.e. it ignores the distinction of the other selectable fields)

If they select 1 in Field1 and 2 in Field2 the total would be £25

If they select 2 in Field2 and 4 in Field3 the total would be £5

etc. etc.

I am struggling because I need the distinct records to allow me to group on them when I need to but if I don't need to group on them I need to ignore the grouping.

I have a number field called Jobs.SquareFootage, and I want to run a query that categorizes the field into intervals. The intervals I want are:

0 to 50 squarefeet
51 to 300 squarefeet
300+ squarefeet

This is the query I'm coming up with so far

I want to put the SquareFootage into the intervals I mentioned above, and get the total revenue for each interval.

I have a table with application records. One of the fields captures schools the applicant will work at. This field stores data in comma delimited format. There could be 1 school name; there could be 5 school names.

My ultimate goal is to build a report which shows me records of all applications, grouped by school choice. I want to see: School A was selected by 5 people, School B was selected by 7, etc.

How can I have each section collapsible like in window explore?

Can it be done through the VBA scripting in MS Access? If so can someone pro

Basically I divided each section to three parts
one part is the header which is an image and a label (name of section)
the second part is the button to click to hide/show the context of the secti

Conditional Form Sections?

Hi there,

I'm trying to do a new membership database for a local group who take monetary subscriptions.
Basically, there's a form for creating a new member, with a few tabs - Contact Info, Payment Info, and one other.

Basically, in the payment tab, i've got a dropo down box to select the individual package from a packages table, another to select the payment term (Monthly, Annually), and a final one to select the payment method.
Now in there i've got a list of possible payment methods: Cash, Cheque, Credit/Debit Card, Direct Debit.
Now obviouslly, each payment method is going to have different requirememnts for what info the club actually needs. Cash simply needs amount of payment and date of payment. Cheque needs payment amount, payment date, cheque details. Card is obviously going to need the CC number, Valid & Expiry Date, Card Type, CCV Number, etc.

So basically, i want to be able to have the relevant section display when that payment method is selected from the Payment Method drop-down box.
What's the easiet way of doing this? Could i create another tab-set inside the payment tab, and then only display the one tab relevant to the selected method?

Expandable Sections In A Form

Request from the higher ups to have several expandable sections in a form. Ideally only the title of the section would show, like when using a DAP, then the user could click and expand out the section and enter data. I tried the Tab option, but they are set on an expansion section.

Any tips on how to make this happen?

Multiple Details Sections?

Hello,

I have not used access that much, but what I am looking to do is basically have 2 details sections within a report that will have different records in them.

I first used a subreport but that really did not work as intended. It left large gaps in between the records and just plain didnt work.

Here is a image of what I am trying to achieve:

As you can see theres two different sections. One is for regular campaigns and one is for extended campains. There is a field in the table that has the extended date. For the compaigns that field should be blank or null and for the extended campaigns it is not blank or null.

Is there anyway to achieve this in Access 2003, if so can you tell me or describe me the steps?
