HELP, Making A Label List From A Table

I have the following info in a table - I am trying to make a file to import into a label printing program. I have qty 5 of item X13 and so need 5 labels for it, 3 of X24's and so on. The output is basically a print file that will print the right quantity of labels for each of the names equipment.

Name; number
X13; 5
X24; 3
X77; 1

I need an output file as follows, in excel or query result:


X13
X13
X13
X13
X13
X24
X24
X24
X77

How do i achieve this in a query or do I need code and if so what would it look like..

Making Label With More Than One Field Per Line

I previously used an older Access version under XP, but I switched to Windows 7 (64-bit) and Access V10. In general, most everything appears to work as expected, but I can't be sure because I have not gotten past the "previously simple" task of making a simple label !!!!

When I construct a LABEL layout, if I use ONLY one field per line, everything appears to work OK.When I put MORE than one field per line, the additional lines are "accepted", but when I click "finished" to preview the finished labels, I get an #error on every line that has more than one field, but the lines with only one field print out as expected.If I then go into the DESIGN mode, each line with more than one field displays:

=Trim([field-x] & " " & [field-z]), where the " " is related to the space I place between field-x and field-z.

During this process I also get a box with the message "Enter Parameter Value", and below that is the text, "Trim", with a box in which to insert some kind of "parameter". I have absolutely no clew what to put into the "box", and no where in the 812 page, "The Missing Manual" is the question answered.I have wasted approximately five hours trying to solve this issue, including google searches for potential answers, some of which seem reasonable, but do not work when implemented. At this point I am ready to trash ACCESS and move on to some other process.

Problem Making A Label Visible In A Subform! URGENT - Please HELP!!!

Hi guys,

I have a form (frmMain) which contains 3 subforms and they are being set to visible at different stages of application run (depending on the options selected).

In subfrm_Main_options i have 3 buttons, clicking on 'Job Review' will make the subfrm_Search visible. In the subfrm_Search i have 2 labels, 'View Jobs' and 'View Report' and I only want the 'View Jobs' to be visible!

I have tried setting the visible property of this label to False in the subfrm_Main_Options but its giving me an error (saying the form subfrm_Search is closed or does not exist in the database!). I also tried using a Global Variable (ViewJobs - declared in module mdlPublicVars) and set it to True once the 'Job Review' is clicked in the subfrm_Main_Options form, and then look at this in subfrm_Search and then display the correct label. However after trying to put this code in various events such as, On Open, On Got Focous, On Activation, ... i didnt get the result i wanted!

Can any1 please help me out with this. I would be really grateful!

PS. The buttons appearing on the form are placed on the frmMain, I did that to see if it appears on the main form but they must be in subfrm_Search!

Reports :: Making Labels With Report - Repeating Label

I am making labels to stick on containers that we're shipping out. Some shipments will have only 1 container and some will have more than 1.Can I have it repeat a label if there are more than 1 container for an order?

For example:
Shipment 1 has 3 containers. The label says "3 x DM" and it will make one label.

Can I set it somehow to print that label three times? What about adding incremental text, e.g. 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3?

Problem Making A Label Visible In Subform! Continue Of Previous Post! Please Help!

I sent a post earlier today about making a label visible in a subform! I am still working on it but still no progress!

I have a different scenario (its the same thing but trying to explain the method i'm working on):

I have one main form (frmMain) that contains 3 subforms, say subfrm1, subfrm2 and subfrm3. On Open only 1 is visible and 2 and 3 are invisible (however they are open and loaded).

By choosing an option on 1 subfrm2 becomes available! When choosing an option on subfrm1 a boolean called 'XXX' is set to true. Now i want one particular label to become visible in subfrm2 if 'XXX' is true! To do this i need to write a code to be executed when subfrm2 is appears on screen! The problem is this form is already open so how and on which event of subfrm2 can i write the code???

At the moment i'm trying to refresh subfrm2 (by using code in subfrm1) and I have placed my code on the On Load event of subfrm2. I thought this way the form will reload and the On Loand event will pick up the new value for boolean XXX and set the label to visible! Thats the idea anyway... here is the code i have in subfrm1:

XXX = True

Forms![frmMain].subfrm2.Form.Refresh

subfrm1.Visible = False

subfrm2.Visible = True

I'm not sure if refreshing the subform will result in On Load event to be executed! And i'm not even sure that the code for refreshing subfrm2 is correct. Can any1 help me with this?

I have attached the actual database on my previous post sent today, if you prefer to look at the whole thing and get a feel of the problem!

Making Multiple Selections From A List Box (Please Help)

I had a bigger question earlier and it was answered but I am still having problems with a small part of it. I am trying to track the details of a meeting. who requested it, for what project, date, duration, who attended. I have everything figured out except accounting for who attended the meetings. attendees also called "analysts" have a manay to many relationship with the meetings. Because they can be a part of many meetings and a meeting can have many analysts. So I created a seperate table called MR-Analyst which was supposed to help me track which meetings each analyst attended. I don't know how the data entery form should look like, right now I have everything on it and linked correctly to track everything excep the analysts. how can I create a list box or something that I can select multiple analysts for each meeting and have that recored linked to the MR-Analyst table? Please Help!!!

We have 4 managers and 16 foreman. Each month a manager is tasked with calling 4 foreman for progress reports.

I'd like to create a simple program with Access to have the foreman assigned to the managers differently each month. It would have to remember the past 4 months so the same names aren't assigned to the same managers. It also has to randomly assign the foremen so the managers don't have the same foreman after 4 months (if that makes sense).

Hello, I am new here to the forum.

I have a list box on a form that i want to display a list from a single cell or a table in my access database. The list in this cell is a list seperated by commas such as.....

Field 1 Field 2
example a, b, c, d

I want my listbox to display the list from the first cell in field 2.

Anybody have any ideas?

PS I know something similar can be done in visual basic. For example, a simple program can be written to take a list (seperated by commas (,) ) and then display this list in a listbox on the form. Is there a way that the simple code such as that can be altered to work in access?

Front end: Access 2010 database in Citrix
Back end: SharePoint List

The problem is that only one user can open the Access Database at a time since this action locks the database for other potential users. The locking occurs due to this link to the back end SharePoint list.

allow multiple users to update the SharePoint list through the access database at the same time?

Preview Data In Label Linked To Table

I have a table that have about 5000 records. Also I have a report that include a label which is linked to this table.

The problem i have is that when i have heavy data in the table like 5000 record and above, the label is not taking data from first to last record from the table, it is taking from record 1200 reaching record 5000 then it takes record 1 to 1199.

Therefore when label is previewed, we are viewing data on label from 1200 to 5000 then from 1 to 11900 and not from 1 to 5000

On the other hand, when i don't have heavy data in the table, everything is working good and the label is getting its data from first to last record successfully.

Making Calculation From Query Appear In Table ?

hi - i have tried search for the solution to my query - but to no avail, so here goes:

I have a query which is based on more than one table. In the query, I have specified a calculation, eg. Final Price: SUM([Sale Price] - [Discount])
From this query I have a form, just showing everything. Details are put into the form, and viola, they appear in the query if checked. However, they do not appear in the table
My assumption why this is not happening was because the Final Price is no longer "record source"d from the original table. How can I combat this so that it does appear in the table?

Hello everyone. I am very new to databases, may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I was tried of working in 4 different spreadsheets and decided to pull them all into a database so that I could get what I wanted when I wanted. Here is what I need to be able to do: In a table I have 3 different industries entered 5 different times. They all cover a Monday to a Friday. Each day for each industry I record a reading from a meter. I make a calculation by subtracting Mondays number from Tuesadays, Tuesday from Wednesday, Wednesday from Thursday and Thursday from Friday. This calculation gives me how much water each industry used each day, over 24 hours. Doing this in a spreadsheet was simple. My table has the Industry name, date, previous day meter reading, present day reading. I want to have the calc show in my query. How do I set up this calculation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I attached a sample database that contains the table and query.:confused:

Sometimes extensive updates have to be made to a table using an update query or loop through a record set.

In order to be able to undo changes in case of a mistake I am thinking about the following procedure:

In code:

1 - Make a copy of the table

2 - Make the changes in the original

3 - Check if updates are correct and if so: delete the copy and if not:

delete the default table and rename the copy so it will be the original.

Is that common practice or not?

I want to make changes to the info in the form and have the changes update the correct employee on the table. Create A Randomise List From A Table And Save The List For Each Month

Hi All a newbie here so any help will be appreciated,

sorry for the long post but trying to give you all the information you might need.

I wrote a basic access database for my Church to aid in a paperwork audit for a charity food drop which we do monthly to give free food to the needy.

But each month it gets harder to find out who was in line first so I thought with all your help we may be able to randomize the names each month in a different order as to avoid confusion and also avoid people waiting in line as they turn up at 5am and we don't start until 9am.

So if this will work in access they can all come for 9am

I don't mind creating a new database and adding the additional information, if that's what it would take.

My Background I have created basic databases from scratch not using wizards, But I don't know much about code or how to implement it so any help in where code goes it would be very much appreciated.

Database details (Microsoft Access 2002 version)

Table Name = details
Field name = ID (auto-generated)
Field name = FirstName (text)
Field name = Surname (text)

If possible it would be nice to keep a record of the randomized lists (in the database somewhere ?) each month in case anyone wants to see it or disputes the lists, where I can just create a report to show the details.

There will be approximately 90 to 125 names.

Making A Form To Call Up Information From A Table?

I'm making a customer survey database. Also be aware I'm not proficient with access.

All the customer information is being imported from an excel spreadsheet. That will include ServiceRecordID, ServiceDate, TechID, CustName, ServLocation, PhoneNum, and DeptID.

Another table will include records for answers to 5 questions that will be asked by a manager on the phone. That table is called TblQuestions. This table will also have ServiceRecordID to go with the answers.

What I'm trying to do is create a Form that at the top has a box for ServiceRecordID. I'd like to be able to type in the Number for that ID, and then all the information shows up on the form for that specific ID. And below all that, fields to add the answers to TblQuestions for that specific ServiceRecordID.

The reason I'm doing this is because the manager will get a report with the customer information that needs a follow up call. So I want them to be able to call up that information on the screen with the ServiceRecordID number, and also be able to add in the information that they get back from the customer with the questions that will be asked.

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with this. But I'm not experienced with access or VBA both.

I'm new to access. Basically I've put this formula in a field within my query(Query A):

PERIOD: [YEAR] & "-" & [Month Number]

And I want to use this newly created field "Period" to join another table (Table A) without having to create another query.

PERIOD(Query A) -> PERIOD(Table A) = Month Name (Table A)

I need the month Name from Table A but because Period(Query A) is a formula I created, I don't know any way of joining it to Table A without creating another query. Is there another way...

I've got a table of associate directors "t_ADnames" and want to build separate tables for each AD name that pulls a pass through query from our data warehouse. I'm thinking it's got to be done with a macro somehow? So it would run pass_query where AD name = "John" and insert into t_john, then it would check the next name in t_ADnames and run the same query for say "Mark" and insert all his data into t_mark and so on until the list (of about 12 people) has been completed.
