I have been trying to get 'TotalMins' field to calculate to total minutes between 2 time fields 'StartTime' and 'FinishTime'. All the update queries i make only seem to adjust the underlying date. I have been advised that i will have to have both the date and times in the field, but this would reduce the simplicity of the form, i am using short date as the field settings.
I have also been told that as the finish time is occasionally past midnight ie. 0030 to a 2300 start time that this will also be a problem?
Okay, seems like it should be simple... maybe I'm wrong though:
Any one know how to do real-time counting of the number of characters in a text box so that once it reaches 3 it automatically moves to the next text box? (Doing a phone number ... area code (int) and phone (long) to make for a total of 6 bytes.)
I've tried several versions of code for the on-change event but I can't seem to find the right way to assess the number of characters currently in the control... I'm pensive about setting an invisible control to just 'count up' because the on-change event would stack it even with a deletion. See most recent attempt below...
Obrigado, ~Chad
Private Sub txtAreaPhone_Change() Dim bytCount As Byte Dim strAPhone As String
If IsNull(Me.txtAreaPhone) = False Then strAPhone = Cstring(Trim(Abs(Me.txtAreaPhone))) bytCount = Len(strAPhone) If bytCount = 3 Then Me.txtPhone.SetFocus Else End If Else
What I am currently doing is querying a table for the Count(*) for the day before. This works all well and good, but now I am wanting to break it down by a time range from the trDateDT field.
I have a pre-established database with a form that calculates total sales and tax for a time period i specify. I want to add a box that will display the number of sale records. Ex. if i had sales of 50,000.00, and that came from 200 sales i want the box to show the number 200.
I'm trying to generate a query that can be used for a pareto chart (Bar Chart shows the count of a defect and a line chart as a second axis counts the cumulative percentage)
I've grouped my data, and sorted the Count of each time the record appears but I cant get my head around working the cumulative percentage. My datasheet currently looks like this:
Reason Count Per Expr1 A 35 47.9 Random Numbers B 11 15.1 " C 10 137 " D 9 12.3 " E 7 9.6 " F 1 1.4 "
I have a login form that closes automatically after a specified time if you do not login with user name and password. It also keeps track of how many times you login and whatever value you set for a password reset it forces you to change when that value is met.
Problem: If you do not login within the allotted time even though a password change has been scheduled, my code resets the login count back to 0.
This is what i want to get around if I can. Either I have to pause the timer or stop the reset.
After you enter the password is when the login count is fired.
And also when it checks if a new password is required.
I have a report that i can order through buttons on report or openargs. Is it possible to get a field that would count the number of time an item appears i.e., if I sort it by employee, it would count how many times each employee is on the report, if i sort it by TypeOfMalfunction, it would count how many times each appears.
I want to count the number of tasks by department by week. I need the time so my date the task was added is formated as a date/time.
I created a query and added the department (twice so that I can group and count), and transaction date. I clicked on totals and added the count function under the department. I added this criteria to the task date: between [start date] and [end date].
Problem is that it's grouping by day and each one is different because all times are different. How do I group these by day and not time?
I have made a basic form and use it a log on screen. This requires the user to in put a user name and a password before gaining access to the main database.
The background to the form is a table where the users details are entered including the i enter the user name and password.
Is there any way to add a counter that is only visible in the table, so I can report on the different users.
I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.
The link works fine but the time formats are different.
On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format
However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#
Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.
Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?
In this table it has a bookingID, CustomerID and some other none relevant details.
The CustomerID comes from table tblCustomer. i.e a customerID must exist in the customer table to be allowed in the bookings table tblBookings
A customer can exist in tblCustomer without existing in the booking table.
I am trying to write a query that will list each and every customer ID in the tblCustomer and count the number of bookings that that customer has (even if it is zero).
I have a query that will count the bookings if they exist in the booking table and display the number of times that a customer appears in the bookings table.
SELECT tblBookings.CustomerID, Count(tblBookings.CustomerID) AS NoOfBookings FROM tblBookings GROUP BY tblBookings.CustomerID;
How do I create a query that will do this but list all customers even if they don't exist in the bookings table (but obviously occur in the customers table)
I am trying to create a similar query where all bookings per hotel are listed even if no bookings are made for that hotel. I am guessing the answer is the same as above.
The Ritz. Bookings 0 The Hilton. Bookings 3 The Carlton. Bookings 0 The Lowry. Bookings 2
The journal ID above was an accounting entry, debit $16,797 and credit $-16,797. because it was entered as a reversing journal in the system, the table has captured the Journal ID with 2 dates. For my purpose i only want the one date (MIN) date, the total amount of the journal (either the debit or credit amount 16,797) and the total number of lines the journal ID has so in this instance I want the count to be 2 and not 4.
Im thinking with the total sum because theres debits and credits is there a way to do the absolute value of the journal MONY_A then divide by 2?
current SQL SELECT [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, Count([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I) AS CountOfJRNL_I, Min([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_D) AS MinOfJRNL_D, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I, Sum([One Year Data Lines].MONY_A) AS SumOfMONY_A FROM [One Year Data Lines] GROUP BY [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I HAVING ((([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I)="0002888269") AND (([One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C)="aud"));
Just spent the past hour in here trying to nut this one out, but not sure I've found something quite the same...though I know the answer will be painfully simple.
I have a customer table and a product table, and a query that groups customer first and last names along with a count of products per customer e.g. 1,1,3,2,3,4,2,1 indicates customer A buys qty 1 of product z, customer B buys qty 1 of product x, cust C buys qty 3 of product y and so on.
All I need to do now is do something to also output the total number of products. ie as per example above, 1+1+3+2+3+4+2+1 to get 17.
Can I do a count of the count or do I do some sort of sum of the count results?
I've tried everything I'm capable of as a newbie, and I'm not having any progress.
I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?
I have an attendance database and I connect the time attendance machine db to my access db, what i am trying to do is to generate a report that shows the time in and time out for specific date. the type of attendance db is date/time.
Please see the attached screenshot db from attendance machine.
an also some time there is duplicate entry, I need to get the first and the last entry only for specific date.
Formatting issue regarding elapsed time calculated using DateDiff().
I understand that you can specify the output value for DateDiff(). In my case I have chosen "n" for minutes. Each result in my query shows the correct calculation in terms of minutes.
[PunchIn] = 11/23/2013 8:11:28 AM [PunchOut] = 11/23/2013 5:43:30 PM
Now when I try to format the result in terms of H:MM (be it in a form or a report) I get varied results. I'll illustrate an example below:
=Format(([ShiftLength]/60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 10.32 Not correct
=Format(([ShiftLength]60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 9.32 This is correct but I need my result to be in the form of a decimal such as my next example
=([ShiftLength]/60) Returns 9.53333333. Getting there but how do I have this result only show two decimal points 9.53?
I have a date/time text field on a form with the General Date format and a combo box next to it that has sequencial times as the row source (IE. 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, 1:30 AM, ETC.) When the user chooses a time in the combo box, I want the time portion of the text box to be updated with the chosen time in the combo. I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it right.
so i created a system to have events booked, and i am trying to check time availability of the event room available, but i dont know what wrong. it either my query or vba code. i have attached the attachment,
I have a working dB which can calculate a shift duration and sum total all shifts worked within a period for the purpose of producing a labor report for payroll. I have successfully used the DateDiff function and converted the minutes to HH:MM on my form and reports. Now I want to calculate elapsed time for a specific period within a shift, I'll call it OtherHours and I am aiming to calculate a portion of time that meet the following conditions below. I am using field names of [PunchIn] and [PunchOut] and both are of type General Date.
IF [PunchOut] ISNOT Saturday,Sunday EXIT FUNCTION ELSE IF [PunchOut] ISNOT Between Midnight and 0559 hours EXIT FUNCTION ELSE DATEDIFF ("n", <MIDNIGHT>, [PunchOut])
My thoughts are to solve the DateDiff portion and then figure out how to apply the conditions within the IF statements.
I have a database consisting of two tables. One is "articles" and the other is "tasks". To put it simply, I would like to find how much time the article spends in tasks, but one article can have many tasks, and they often (but not always) overlap. Tasks have a start and end date field.
Wonder if someone can help please. I'm quite new to Access so please bear with me.
I have a data field in my database consisting of both a date and time.
I then have a form containing two fields where the user can type a 'To' and 'From' date to extract the records that they are interested in. The query behind this uses the 'Between[Enter The Date] And [Enter The Date]' coding.
The problem is that because the field contains a time it doesn't return any records when I run the query.
Can anyone offer a bit of guidance on how I could ignore the time part of the field perhaps by adapting the above.
Hi all, I havent' been around in a while (toddler, work, getting my BS degree and new baby coming in a week and a half) so I am hopefully not asking a previously posted question.
I'm suspecting my new work isn't accurately paying for the hours worked. I made a quick simple DB where I input my punch times in short time format. There's the typical In, Out for Lunch, In from Lunch, and Out. I've got it correctly adding the times so that it reports the total hours worked per day, though, in order for it to display correctly, that total is in short time as well.
The problem is, when I group a week together, as soon as the sum of the totals reaches 24 or more, it goes back to 0, as it's on the idea that there's only 24 hours in a day.
Hopefully, it's just a formatting issue or is there a function to convert the times (or just the sum) to number of hours?
I am trying to create an Access database where I can let the employees enter their time-in and time-out, at the end of their shift. I already created this function working, but running into another issue. Everyday, employees need to enter a break. Sometimes they take a break and sometimes they don't, if they work shorter hours. Thus, the break is not a default 30min and has to be enterd by the employee.
Below is the code I have to calculate the total hour:
txtCalcTime has the below code in control source: =Int([CalcTime]/60) & ":" & Int([CalcTime] Mod 60)
Control source for this form "FrmTimes" property, in which Txtcalctime resides:
QryTimes "QryTimes" query has the code below: SELECT TimeID, TimeIn, TimeOut, Brake, DateID, DateDiff("n",[TimeIn],[TimeOut]) AS CalcTime FROM EmpTimes;
This shows the total number of hours worked. But how can I make it to substract the break time entered by the employee in "txtbreak" on FrmTimes
