Help! Query-report Asks For "format" (?)

Jul 6, 2006

Our Access database reports work fine everywhere but on one Windows 2000 computer, and on this computer, only reports have a problem.

Normally, when a report (with currency values) is run, the underlying query asks for "Job Number", then "Part Number", then it runs the report. On this one computer, though, it also asks for "Format", as if the query is lacking something, whereupon the user hits <Enter> (for lack of knowing what to do), and the report appears. In this report, though, all currency values have "Error" in them instead of the numbers. All other computers (W2k, NT, XP) run this stuff fine.

What might be missing/messed up/screwy in this one computer?

Form Asks For Query Criteria On Loading (listbox Problem)

Feb 1, 2006

I have a listbox that uses a query to reference a value in the current form. The problem is for some reason Access is trying to fill this listbox before even showing the form, so I get prompted to manually enter the query criteria when it should be picking it up from the form.

This is bizarre because it's only just started doing it. I've removed the listbox and created it again, but no help. I have listboxes such as this all over the place, but this particular one has just started playing up! Why?

Queries :: Create A Query That Asks For Multi Entries In One Column

Apr 11, 2014

Is it possible to create a query that asks for multi entries in one column .....

For example : If I have parts that I purchase and some of them get rejected I want to inform someone of those parts, these parts could be on order numbers, 1,2,8,10 ....

I cannot just search on rejected because some parts could have been reject say 2 weeks ago but new ones have not arrived yet so the flag "rejected" is still showing ....

Is it possible to set the criteria that when asked for the order number/s you could type in ,1,2,8,10 ....

Access Asks For A Value - Why?

Jun 12, 2006

Hi all,

I have listbox based on a query and a textbox. When the user keys any value into the searchbox, the results of the query filter based on the value using a 'LIKE' query. I have been using this successfully to filter information based on either the first name or surname of clients.

I decided to add searching by full name. I built a simple expression in my query for strName -

strName: [FirstName] & " " & [Surname]

When I open the query, this displays the desired result - but when it is opened it also now prompts me for a 'strName' value.

Can anyone tell me why this is - and what I can do stop it prompting - as when the form is opened it asks me for this, and whenever a value is typed into the text box it requeries - also calling this dialogue.

Thanks

Robert

Forms :: Filter Statement Asks For Parameter Entry

Aug 22, 2014

I have a bound form, in its heading I have a combo box which lists three choices. Basically I want to filter all my purchase records by checking a field PUOrderNb (Example: PO200100025) against the choice made in the combo box, namely DE (for demand), PO (for Purchase order) etc. On the after update event of the combo box, I have the following code:

Dim strfilter As String
strfilter = " left ([PuOrderNb],2) like " & cboFilter.Column(1)
Me.Filter = strfilter
Me.FilterOn = True

When I make a choice in the combo box, I get a window asking me to enter a parameter value and it lists the value of the combo box choice as a sort of a title just above the white input fame. When I type in PO for instance, the program does correctly filter all order numbers starting with PO, but the whole point of having a combo box is not to have to type anything. The other odd thing is, when I change the choice in the combo box, after my first choice, I do not get this parameter question but nothing happens as to filtering. The first choice remains active.

Report Format

Oct 31, 2006

I have a database that tracks client contact and I have a report that I want to print that shows all the contact a rep has had with the client. I enter the start and end dates I want and the reps name and when I run the report its listed in date order so I might have Jane Doe - 10/1/06 then Jack Jones - 10/2/06 then Jane Doe - 10/3/06 (again) I want Jane Doe - 10/1/06 , 10/3/06 then Jack Jones - 10/2/06 and so on. I'm pulling the information from a query and when I run the query it displays it properly with all the Jane Doe records together but when I run the report is sorted by date. I am in the process of redoing this database and it's on the new one this happens on the old database it works like it's supposed to when I print/view the report.Any thoughts on where to check? Thanks,Rick

Want To Reuse Report Parameters And Format?

Jan 11, 2005

I created a report using wizard and altered the parameters to what I need on my report and saved it as a new autoformat. The autoformat did not retain the parameter adjustments I made...only the basic format...no size changes...grouping I added ...a seperator line between the groups and the bound items I deleted that I did not want were still there. All I want to do is to be able to use the report format I created numerous times as it is without me having to go in and make adjustments with each query I pull a report from. There are several different query's with different tables involved. To sum it up one report format to use multiple times....Help Please!

Report Export To Excel With Format

Feb 29, 2012

I have a beautiful report and when printed straight from access it has nice gridlines and even gridlines null fields (which I want). However when I export to excel all the fancy gridlines and bold fonts are lost. Is there a way I can get it to export to excel what I can print in access? I would like to be able to export to excel to add some extra rows before printing but not have to do all the formatting.

I've tried printing to word, same problem as excel. Tried printing a pdf and it looks exactly the same but I can't edit it to add the extra blank rows.

Send Report (PDF Format) Individually By Email Address

I need to send the report using DoCmd.SendObject. However, I need to send it based on each tech's job via email.

Currently all tech and jobs on the reports together. I need it to pull the email address and only send to that tech its jobs.

Currently I'm using the basic vba code

DoCmd.SendObject acSendReport, "R_DispatchInspectors", acFormatPDF, "email@me.com", , , "Job number", "Please see attached", False

However do I allows this to send individual report connected to email address. (Which will have each tech's specific jobs sent to them only).

table name: Inspectors (this one have their email address)

Creating A Report That Conforms To ASCII Format Of Another Data Collection System

Aug 30, 2004

I have a need to convert the export of an Access report to an ASCII file.

The export needs to have a specific format - described below:

Field Position | Field Length | Field Name | Field format

1-6 | 6 | Member # | text - right justified
7-12 | 6 | Trans Date | YYMMDD
13-15 | 3 | Pay code | Alpha/ NUM - Left
16-26 | 11 | Amount | -9999999.99 (*)
64-71 | 8 | Check # | Right

general comments and questions:

This report needs to interface with some sort of transaction accounting system - No Idea what it is, but this format of the report will interface.

The field positions go from 1 to 73. I need only supply the data above, so the check # is way out of sequence. Do I need to have the space inbetween "Amount" and Check Number in the report? Will a simple text file work with all the fieds together? or will I need the space in there? Is there a way to design a report in an ASCII format in access?

Specific Questions

I think I need to change the format of the amount and date fields. I am currently using the short date format 8/30/04, but need to return the date as YYMMDD - 040830. How can I change this format to reflect the ASCII format. The form is also set with the default "=Date()" so the user doesn't have to enter the date everytime - it can also be edited for older data. I would like the date to appear the way it is on the form 08/30/04 but get entered to the table as 040830. Is there a way to do that?

The amount field is odd - I'll include the exact criteria that is desired:

"All Amount Fields must be right justified and space filled. If the amount is a credit, show the "-" sign at the beginning of the number. Payment should be entered as positive amounts. If zero, assign the fied as 0.00 (space filled)"

Is this just a mask that needs to be added? Currently, The field shows $7.00 when 7 is entered to add cent, you must type in 7.50, tab will put in the "$". I need to get rid of the $ and space fill the field?

Any help would be great

Forms :: Assign Field With Special Format Based On Date / Time Format

Feb 17, 2014

I wanted to assign the field "Number of magazine" with special format based on date/time format but showing only year and month in the format: "yyyy-mm".

So in property of this field in format I put yyyy-mm and in input mask I type 0000-00;;-

I also created the form based on the table containing above field and I defined format and input mask for corresponding formant in the same way like at the table.

But if I try to type date for example 2014-01 in text box of the form it comes up with the full date 2014-01-01. Why does it do like this? What do I do incorrectly?

I am able to do this with the datepart and format functions, but I need to make it so that the fiscal month begins in January but the first week starts if there are three or more days in the week. For instance if Jan 1st is a Friday then this stands as the first fiscal week, if it is a Saturday then it does not count as the first week.

datepart and format functions have the Use the first week in the year that has at least 4 days for the firstweekofyear option but I need it where it has at least three to make it work.

Format Within Query

Aug 21, 2006

Hi

I have a Query that calculates a value SubTotal using one of two values depending on the state of a check box called Euro.

SubTotal: IIf([Euro]=True,[Quantity]*([UnitPrice]*[ExchangeRate])-[Discount],[Quantity]*[UnitPrice]-[Discount])

This works fine. The value is calculated correctly.

I now need to include the currency sign be it either € or
£ in front of the value generated according to the state of Euro. If Euro is True then € if not True then £

Euro is set by clicking on one of two command buttons btnEuro or btnGBP.
