I've created a Form based on a Query.
The Form is in table mode (multiple forms).
I've added a new text box.
Each time I enter anth in the text box of a record,
all the other relative text boxes in all records of form fill with the same.
Why?
I want to enter different data.
Plz help. Tomorrow I should have the DB ready!
When I populate a combo box named BusOrgCode, I want to auto-populate the HRName box with the name that corresponds with the Bus Org Code. I get a run time error "2001." Help!
Here's my code: +++ Private Sub BusOrgCode_AfterUpdate()
Dim strFilter As String
' Evaluate filter before it's passed to DLookup function. strFilter = "BusOrgCode = " & Me!BusOrgCode
' Look up HR Partner Name and assign it to HRName control. Me!HRName = DLookup("HRName", "HR by Bus Org Code", strFilter)
is there a way to have a form set to either auto populate fields based on the FIRST FIELD? For example: if the user type in the STUDY ID, the other fields like (first name, last name etc..) are auto-populated/auto-filled? and if the STUDY ID is new and not in the table, then the users simply fill in all the fields/complete the form and save? And I would also like a message box to show when I am typing the STUDY ID that would say something like: this person is on the system already. Click YES for this person and NO to add the user?...
I am relatively new to using MS Access 2010. Some fields which i have set up as Memo fields to take report comments. Is there anyway to make the size of the memo field box variable to fit in with the text in the form when viewing in htis mode?
I have a form where I type in the time a person starts a job. The format is Medium Time. I also have a box where I type in the End time for that job. Also formatted in Medium Time. I have another box that is for if a break happens during that job to return the value 10. My formula for that box is: =IIf([Start Time]<"9:00 AM" And [End Time]>"9:10 AM",10,0). The problem that I am having is that it only works when the time is in the 9:00 AM to 9:59 AM time frame. I need it to work where if a person starts at 6:00 AM and gets done at 2:30 PM to return the value of 10.
I have searched the forum for the answer but cannot seem to find exactly what I am looking for.
I have a table with the PK auto assigned. Currently have about 150 records in it.
I would like to add a prefix to the Auto Assigned ID for all current and future records for an example if the record is 1 I want it to say GEN-1, GEN-2 etc..
I found this code however I cannot seem to integrate it into what I am trying to do.
Add a field that holds the date a record was added to the table. When you want to display a formatted autonumber field, use an expression.
Hey Gang, I haven't looked in the forum yet, this is just an idea that popped into the air.
Is there a way to auto insert a text of my choice into a field on a form.
Example:
I am constantly typing "No Supervisor Signature on Weldment" along with a few other phrases. It is not as simple as copy and past, if it was that easy I would not be asking the group. I am in and out of access 200 times a day. and I wanted to know if I can assign a "HotKey" to auto insert these phrases that I use.
I need the text in the field to allow both lower and upper case but when the user enters "i" (only 1) it changes to "I" , "ii" works just fine. How can I stop this??
I guess I could write an event code like:
Dim LowerCase, UpperCase UpperCase = Me![FieldName] LowerCase = LCase(UpperCase) If Me.[FieldName].Value = "i" Then Me![FieldName].Value = LowerCase Else...
Can i move the blinking cursor to the end of field? I set in the options but it goes to the start of the field. and wants to overwrite the default text. I would like it to start at the end of the default text.
I've noticed that Access has a few default "fixes" for text in a field. For instance, if I type "aBBB" then tab to the next field (whether in a table, a form or anywhere else), Access will autocorrect that to "Abbb". This is really helpful if I leave caps lock on and am trying to type names, such as "aLEX" being changed to "Alex".
Is there a way to make it auto capitalize everything in the field? I don't want to turn such a thing on for every field, just for some select fields. Perhaps some sort of self-correcting mask, whatever you would call something like that, that I could apply to various fields.
In this form is a text box called degree name that is link from the table degree. It autopopulates with the degree upon the sequence form first opening button clears the text box when i click add new sequence
I'm creating a DB for tracking time. I have a form with a subform. The main form is the employee data, the subform is their time sheet. What I would like to do is when I enter the date on the subform the pay period number will auto populate in a text field. I have created a table with three columns - PK auto number, Date, and Pay Period Number. I created a relationship between that table and the time sheet table using the date. I don't know if that's right or not. I have read about auto populating from a combo box but that's not what I want.
I have a daabase that I am importing via excel. I want the entries to be numbered ex: MT0001 MT0002 etc....
I would like it to promt the user for the last number(or next number in sequence) entered, then fill in the blank records with the next increment number. The prefix will also change to so eventually the user would enter into the prompt RD0001. then autofill the 140 imported records with RD0002, rd0003... etc....
I can't really make seperate fields because the MT0001 number will become a barcode and putting them seperate causes many issues.
can this be done? Any help would be great I am still a beginner but slowly learning! Thanks!
I have several fields with text boxes and input masks. When a user clicks in these fields, it puts them in whatever position in the text box they click in. If they click to the far right, it takes them to the right position and doesn't let them type the entire date, formula, etc.
Any way to set the text box so that no matter where they click it automatically starts in the first position?
I'm pretty new to this type of programming and i was hoping for a little help,
I have completed the majority of my program it's just a few little things i need to tweak.
The main thing is that i am trying to get a text box to autofill from a selection in a combo box i.e.
i have selected a drop down box with 3 coloums looked up from another table i would like 1 of the columns to stay in the combo box after selection and the other two to appear in the text boxes on the same page.
When I first was making my database I used all auto numbers for PK's. But then I read an article or two saying that you really don't need to do that if you don't have to (actually, the article said "don't use autonumber if you want anyone to understand your database). I have a few tables (most employee experience type tables) where I just use the word as the PK and there is no auto number in the table at all.I continue to build my database?
I have five textboxes for husband with the values typed(HustxtAddress1, HustxtAddress2, HustxtCity, HustxtState, HustxtZip). I have five more textboxes for wife. I have a combo box asking whether the spouse's address is same as the husband - with yes or no. If "Yes" is selected, the text boxes for wife is auto filled with the same values of the husband. I tried with combo box change event setting HustxtAddress1= WifeText address1, it fills only the first field and other fields are empty.
I have a form for 2800 different records. I want to auto populate 4 text boxes based on the value of 1 combo box but when I change the data on 1 form, all the forms show the same data. I want to be able to able to change the data on each form and save separately.I have Table with Tech Initials(PK), Full Name(689), CellNum(691), TestGaugeSN(630) and Cal Exp Date(632). Want to use Tech Initials to populate the rest.
Here's what I'm using:
Private Sub Combo687_AfterUpdate() Me.Text689 = Me.Combo687.Column(1) Me.Text691 = Me.Combo687.Column(2) Me.Text630 = Me.Combo687.Column(3) Me.Text635 = Me.Combo687.Column(4) End Sub
I have 5 combo boxes that all cascade into the next, and then when the last combo box is updated from the drop down list, it auto-populates a text box. My issue is that I have a second text box that needs to be auto-populated from the same data table based on what has been entered into the 5 combo boxes and the first text box. I've tried creating parameters and setting a lookuprecord macro in my main table and then using a returnvars RunDataMacro on the actual form, but it says, "Invalid list or query reference 'BillingDataQuery'." I'm not sure if it's because I'm not setting that RunDataMacro on the wrong combo box, or if I've written it incorrectly...
I did this same technique (based on directions in a post from this forum) on another combo box that populates five text boxes and it works just fine, but I don't know how to get this to work based on what's populated in 5 combo boxes to auto-populate the last text box.
I have a text field that I would like to have some information automatically populated when the form is open. I know the basics but the trouble I am having is having the date and time populated before the default text.
Here is what I tried but no luck on it
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() Dim strQuery As String 'Dim js As Integer Dim currDateTime As Date currDateTime = Now() Me.Description = " & currDateTime & " & " " & "J.Adams 41066 CLT SMB - AM : " & " " & "" End Sub
I have dependent combo boxes which is working fine what i want is to select the value from the list and the text box should be filled in my case it is attachment field i want to fill up the value based on combo boxes selection.I have attached the database also.
Is it possible to change the colour of the text in a table. For example the word "URGENT" is selected from a combo box, and when viewed in the table it appears red.
I have Table called "Products" Field 1= "Product ID" which is a text field (PK) but numbers are used (ie 1 -20) Field 2= Products -showing our list of 20 products
When I enter a new product, currently I have to look in the table to find the last ID used then use the next one available. I have created a form to be used for data entry to enter new products
What I am trying to do is :- 1, have the form open at data entry level but still able to scroll and see all records and 2, Have the form auto generate the next number available. For example, I have 20 products entered so when the form opens to enter a new product, the ID is automatically at number 21. I know absol nothing about coding. I have looked at other suggestions on the forum incl the DMAX +1 and having tried and not worked, I wondered if its because the field is a text field or I am trying to insert the code in the wrong place.
I have a simple login form (really just an audit tracking form) that requires the person to enter in their email address and select an office number from a combo box. Essentially, upon first entry, they will put in their email address and select an office number. When they return to the database and put in their email, it will automatically populate the combo box.
I need the text box (EmailLogin) to do 3 things: update an EmailLogin field on a table called EmailLogin (which I already have it set to do), search a field called EMail in a table called Staff, and update a combo box (cboOfficeNumb) below it if it matches an entry from EMail on the Staff table with the field OfficeNumb.
I have the cboOfficeNumb updating the OfficeNumb field on both EmailLogin and Staff tables.I am unsure of how to use a Query to perform the search and use DLookup for the update of the cboOfficeNumb.I am okay with modifying the tables to remove OfficeNumb from the EmailLogin table, as it is really just tertiary.
I have two fields that are in short time format, and are saving the information to the table in short time format.
I then have a field that I have set to auto-fill under the chosen circumstances, with a text roughly as follows
Code: Dim Story As String Dim IDepTime DimADepTime IDepTime = [InstructedDeparture] ADepTime = [ActualDeparture] Story = "This person was instructed to leave at " & IDepTime & " but did not do so, instead departing at " & ADepTime & "which caused us a problem" me.txtnarrative.value = Story End Sub
This all works, however the times being displayed are in hh:mm:ss format, when I only want hh:mm format - how do I tell it the format I want?
GOAL: select the IC number from the combo box and have 5 text boxes auto fill.
I have a table made for the IC number drop down. The columns represent the fields that need to be auto filled.
Making some kind of query to link the combo box entry to the text boxes? Some VBA where the control source is equal to my query? I have tried changing the text box control source to equal columns from my drop down but that did not work.
NOTE: the blue font in the first image represents the text boxes that need to auto fill when I select the IC number from the drop down. The second image is my table from which my combo box is generated. The acronyms are for the two tests on this form.
