Hey guys-
Been trying to figure this out, but am stuck. Obviously I'm fairly new to Access...
I have a table of properties and the price those properties sold for. Each property is in a specific area of town. I want to take each record and display the Address, Area of town, Price it sold for, and then the AVERAGE PRICE of all the other properties that sold in that same, specific area (not all the other areas of town, but the same area that the property sold for). The result should be displayed as below-
-Address- -Area- -Sold Price- -Avg Sold Price in Area-
And then it will list every property in the database, each with the same calculation all in one grid/table/dataset.
I figured out how to write a query to average all the sold prices in each area- but I don't know how to display that in conjunction with each record. Can someone throw a hint at me here?
Thanks
I want to hyperlink from a query direct to the relevant record in a specific form. I have a hyperlink field in the form which shows up in the query. When clicked in the query, this hyperlinks to the form but I cannot make it select the correct record in the form. How do I get it to select the correct record?
I have a query on a form that is providing all of the information I need for everything on my form.
The problem is I don't know how to refer to a field's value in the query in VBA without having a hidden text field on the form.
I know I can reference a combo box's query to include criteria such as [Forms]![cboSelectStudent] if the control is actually on the form, but how would I refer to a value in the form's query that doesn't have a control on the form.
I've been searching for everything I can think to call this but haven't been able to come up with anything.
Hello, I have just spent ages doing searches and reading everything I can on locking. But, I have yet to find an answer as to how I can lock a specific field in a specific record.
e.g. Staff enter customer details, then at the end of the day the admin (me) checks it over and presses a big old button that stops them from locking certain fields in the current record only - they must still have access to the unlocked fields of the current record, and it must not lock any other records.
I'm guessing there's some VB code in the form of fieldname.lock = true, but then it locks the field throughout the whole table!
I d'like to ask for your help in the following issue:
When I step the records on a form clicking on the arrows below I want refresh some field reacting on this event.
How can I refer to this event in Visual Basic? And how can I bind the VB program to the form? (Because - as I know - there's no field on the properties box for this purpose)
(Or if you know an event equivalent to this record stepping, I think it would do as well)
I am new to access i have a problem which is i have made a form which contains a subform and a read only subreport, what i want is the ability to select a record in read only subreport as in the picture attached and make a button that when i press on it, it should copy the values of the itemsID field, Packing field, ContainerNo field and origin field from the selected record and then paste them in the subform below.
Also i want to add more then one item, so the when i press on another record it should paste the values below the first record.
I have entered one entry in to the database with the correct values (this is record 6) and everytime I enter a new record, the data is the same (I'm using a drop down list) it will automatically appear in the box. But when I goto the table that the data is stored in, each field just has the reference to the first record that the data came from.
Looks a bit like this:
ID Server Name Pattern Engine Program 6 LN1HOME 4.735.00 8.500-1002 5.58.0.1185 7 LN1WORK2 6 6 6
Is there a way of seeing the origonal data in those fields other than the Record ID Number as a reference.
I know its a lame question, Im just is a learning process at the moment.
I have a form that has a combo box (box1), Its row source is from a table (table1) than the forms record source (query1). The data box1 sources is from column1 in table1.
I then have a text box (box2). I need it so when i select a record in box1 (from column1) that it displays the corresponding data in that same record (and table) but from column2
Example:
A table has a column with equations and another column with the answer.
I select "1+1" in the combo box Then in the text box it displays "2"
Need to generate a unique reference number each record wise while data entering by a form. How to do this by using a command button ? After entering all fields related to the record, when click on the command button, unique reference number for that record need to be generated and save with all other data of the records. in a later event, need to recall the record by using this reference number and also need to make relation ship with some other table by using the reference number.
I have a continuous form for which the recordsource is a query that retrieves dates from 10 days in the past to 10 days in the present. I want the record with today's date to be at the top of the form. The record with the oldest date is always on top. Is this a scrolling issue? How can I get the record with today's date to appear on top?
I want Access to automatically generate a reference number for a record based on the values in on two other fields for a given record using a form.
The first field is called Operation Number.
The second is Bag Number.
The reference number needs to be in this format: 19C.3.1
Where 19C is the Operation Number, 3 is the bag number, and 1 is automatically generated. Additionally I need the last number --the automatically generated one--to go back to 1 if with each new bag number.
This is kind of like library catalog numbers. Not sure how to do this.
I have a form bound to a query. The query result has a field that I would like to reference, however I do not want the field on my form. Is there a way to reference a field in the query results that is not on the form?
I have a query that currently calculates a rating based on various values entered into the database. This rating corresponds to a Quality Index value based in another table. I tried to set up a query that links the rating value in the query to the Rating in the table, however, when I run this query, I don't get all the results I should. Is there some other way to make this work? I thought it would be simple to link the rating value that is calculated to the rating in the table and have it report the Quality Index value associated with that value. Please help!
Trying to run an append query for a specific record on a subform but won't recognise the subform control.
The Master form is fmSickEdit do I have to reference the Master file in the SQL?
The SQL for the query is:
INSERT INTO tblDisLetter ( SickID, DateAdvisedDisciplinary ) SELECT tblSick.SickID, Date() AS [Date] FROM tblSick WHERE (((tblSick.SickID)=[Forms]![fmsubSickListEditVersion]![SickID]));
I'm trying to get a public function to work within the design view of a query. The function is defined as:
Public Function Percentile_(fldName As String, _ tblName As String, p As Double, _ Optional strWHERE As String = "") _ As Double... ( I can put the whole code if u need it)
Any thoughts about how I can make the Percentile function calculate values according to a GroupBy statement and not for whole data set?
I created a query that pulls information from 2 other queries and everything was going fine until I saved the query. I now get a circular reference error
SELECT [CashValue Link Query1].Facility, [CashValue Link Query1].[Financial Class], [CashValue Link Query1].Date, [CashValue Link Query1].Date, [CashValue Link Query1].[Total A/R], [CashValue Link Query1].Current,
I have a main form "KZ_SEARCH" and within this I have a subform which is loaded when a button is pressed and is populated with query results (based on text entered in a text box). The subform is called "KZ NOTICES Query subform". That all works fine and the query modifies based on the text entered every time the button is pressed. The next stage is that when the subform is loaded I want the user to be able to select a line from the subform and to jump to that record in another form (which also needs to be opened from that selection). The reference for the record to select in the newly opened form would be the first column of the selected line highlighted in the subform (control name "KZ NUMBER").
Does anyone know some code that will take me to the record whose field "A" has value "B"?
It sounds very simple but I can't find anything the does it!
Basically I have a table or enquiry records, some of which are related. I just want to be able to click on a button to take the user straight to the related record. The current design does this using a filter but this is pretty rubbish as it meanhs that in order to search on all records I need to select all records again first.
If DCount("[Po_Num]", "Orders", "[PO_Num] ='" & txtPO & "'") = 0 Then MsgBox "Sorry, No record matched" txtPO.SetFocus
Else
MsgBox "yes" DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmPopUp" DoCmd.OpenForm FormName:=strForm, wherecondition:=strwhere End If
End If
End Sub ------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Orders3" is the subform of Form "GoodOne" . When the user enter the PO Number in txtPo, and press "ok" , it will go to that record. BUT it just show a new blank reocrd instead.
What's wrong with the programme ??? (is it the matter of subform ?)
I am new to this and i may be going about this the wrong way but what i am doing seems to do the job until now.
I am making a form that has a combo box, a few text boxes and a subform subreport on it.
The idea is that the first thing a user does is to select a name form the combo box. this name is then stored as a sring and used to set the forms record source and then the subform's (called window) source object. the string is slightly modified during the process to do this. That part works fine.
The problem arose when i included text boxes to show infomation from the selected Query thatisant show in the window (subform).
After the user selects a name and the name is used to set up the record source and the source object for the text boxes.it then displays in the text boxes the records extra data. however it only displays the first row extra data. And when other rows in the query table are selected the data in the text box stays set as the first row.
I know that this is because i haven't programed in an event that makes the text box data update when the user selects a new row.
i also realise that i would need to have some way of know what row of the quiery table the user is looking at to be able to update the text boxes.
my questions are
Is there a way to tell what row of a query table in the subform is selected ?
Is there an event similar to on selection of row or something like that that i could use to reload the text boxes?
Within a query, I'd like to reference another query field based on a date specified as a parameter.
In my query, there are fields for each month: [January],[February], etc.
I have a field titled [Current Month], based on the parameter [As Of Date]. So if when running the query, the parameter pops up and I type 5/6/2013, it knows that the month is May. I know how to return May in the current month field (format([As Of Date],"MMMM"). But how to I return the value that is in the May column?
I have a form that displays customer account information. The form is connected to two tables. each customer has their own account number that i use to lookup their information. right now i have to click on the account number field and click find to pull up the record. I have built a popup form that displays the customers names with their respcetive accounts. My question is, How can i use the popup form to select a customer name and have the main form goto that record without using the find button.
