Hide Record Selector In Datasheet View

Hi
Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that you can't set the record selector property to 'no' in a datasheet view form? (well, you can set it to 'no' but it seems to have no effect)

General :: Restrict Users To Hide And Rearrange Columns In Datasheet View?

I am displaying table records in access form Datasheet view. While business users accessing that form, they are hiding and rearranging some columns for their use. So it will be hard for other users to access. I just want to know any settings are avaible in MS Access or can we accomplish this using any events or macro or modules??

Prior Record In Datasheet View

In my db I am tracking different stages for an event. I have a subform that is in datasheet view. The last field (current) is a yes/no check box that says that this entry is the current stage of the process. In one of the fields I have a afterupdate event that says me.current = true. But what I need is to change the previous entry to show that stage's current to be false.Does that make sense?Date Event Location Current02/01/07 Drying Dryer X (when next event added this =false)02/05/07 Bagged Warehouse XUp until I enter the 02/05 entry the 02/01 entry was the current stage and I want a check in the current box. But when I enter the 02/05 entry that now becomes my current stage so on the 02/01 event then current = false and on the 02/05 event current = True. I can get the 02/05 event to show current = True but how do I make the 02/01 current =False?Thanks,Rick

I have a query that returns records in datasheet view. I need a field to accept the user selection from a drop down, then save that to a table. The query is based on a couple queries and one of those queries is based on the table i need to save the user input into. When i make a selection from the drop down list it puts the selection in that field for all the records and then doesn't save.

Starting Datasheet View At Selected Record

I have a simple form in datasheet view in Company Name sequence. By default it starts the list at the beginning. I would like to put a combo box in the form header that pulls down the companies to allow the user to select the starting company to list. I don't want to go directly to the selected company, I just want the list to populate starting with the selected company. I can create the combo box and I know I use the After Update event to get the selected value, but how do I restart the list. Ideally, I would still like the operator to be able to scroll up and down after the list is redisplayed starting with the selected company.

Forms :: Datasheet View Textbox Fills With Same Value For Every Record?

Some background: I have a subform that is displayed in datasheet view, with an unbound textbox (field1) whose sole purpose is to pass the date and time entered into it to field2 (hidden, bound), and also display that info in this format: ddhhnn"Z" mm yy. The inputmask for field1 is 000000"Z ">LLL�0 which forces the user to enter the date/time using the ddhhnn"Z" mm yy format. I use field1's AfterUpdate event to convert its contents into a format (dd/MMM/yy hh:mm) that field2 can easily recognize as a date and time.

My problem: The only way I've figured out to get field1 to display field2's date and time is to use the subform's OnCurrent event:

However, by doing that, whenever I click on a record's row the entire field1 column populates with the current record's field1 value. So, if I click on record 2's row, the entire field1 column populates with "101200Z JUN14" for every record. If I click on record 3's row, the entire field1 column populates with "111232Z JUN14" for every record. And so on and so forth.

How can I stop field1 from populating with the same value for every record?

How Do I Show The Subform As Form View Instead Of Datasheet View :confused:

I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.

Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?

I want to "zoom" to the underliyng data from pivot view. When in excel someone doubleclicks a field in a pivot table, it automatically creates a table containing all the lines that field were made up from. I want to achieve the same behaviour in Access.I started to think towards a VBA coda, that could be initiated from the form's double click event. It should go to datasheet view with the prpoer filter criterias.

I have a form which is opened with a filter from another form. For some reason it views the form in form view, although it was set up as datasheet view. I even went to the form properties and the default was datasheet and i made it not to allow other views. This still didnt solve it. I want it to be in datasheet view because i want to show multiple records at the same time.

If u kno how i could resolve this please offer ur help

Problem With SubForm - Record Selector Always Jumps To First Record

In the zip-file attached below is my "problem" database. (to see the problem open frmLedenArtikels)
On top of the form just select a name from the combo box, the subform then lists the items that person has bought on a certain date. So very easy form.

The problem is the following. When I try to add items to the subform, the record selector in the subform always automatically jumps back to the first record in the subform. this is very annoying and I have totally no clue why this is happening.

Preventing Record Selector, Creating New Record

Hi All,
I have a form that when loads, runs some VBA on the "On Current" event.
Some of that code, fills in text boxes, with concatenated (?) strings.
So every time I use the record selector and get to the end of all the records, the "On Current" fires adds the concatenated string (even if it's empty), and that then becomes a new record! Is there some way i can prevent this, but still keep the "On Current" event, some type of logic I could run before the concatenations etc.

Any Help would be appreciated.

I have a table with fields ID, NAME, ITEM, QUANTITY and DATE_IN. I have a query "qry_Logged_In" based on the table. I then have a form based on the query.

I created a combo box as a "go to record" selector and used the following Row Source:

SELECT DISTINCTROW qry_Logged_In.ID, qry_Logged_In.NAME, qry_Logged_In.ITEM, qry_Logged_In.QUANTITY, qry_Logged_In.DATE_IN FROM qry_Logged_In ORDER BY [ID];

On the After Update proceudre I have the following code:

Me.RecordsetClone.FindFirst "[ID] = " & Me![Combo135]

It works fine, but one thing I would like is that as I toggle through records using the record selector (forward/backward) buttons, I would like for the record number in my combo box to also change keeping in sync with the record number. Unfortunately, it currently stays to the number I last selected in the combo box.

Any suggestions on how to make the record number showing in my combo box to change with the record number?

Can't Hide Datasheet Column

I have a subform in datasheet view and I wish to selectively hide columns I'm not using (depending on the query). I wrote a small function to make it easier. Here's my code:
Function HideColumn(myForm As SubForm, myLabel As String)
myForm.SetFocus
myForm.Controls(myLabel).SetFocus
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdHideColumns
End Function
So all I do is send the subform name while I'm using the parent form and then give it the column name to hide. Oddly enough this code works for columns such as "Net B" and "Net% +/-", but it doesn't work with the columns "Period B" or "Period A". On my subform the text boxes and their labels have the same name (if that even matters). I keep getting a 2465 error (field not found) no matter what I change the column name to.

Record Selector In 2007 - One Click At A Time

Hi,
In Access 2007, I don't seem to be able to scan through a few records by holding down the advance record arrow in tables liked I used to?!
Am I missing something here, it worked in the same way in all other versions, the same as if you use the mouse wheel, it should run through each record in turn.

Is there a way to change this? I've been through all the settings I can think of...

Requery (SubTot)If I remove the Requery, the record selector remains where it is supposed to be. The SubTot data source does include the aggregate dsum value of the subform's underlying table. My problem is related to an Access database, where an auto complete Combo box is used to select a client record by entering the ID number or the clients name. EG: 14034 or Bloggs,Fred. This problem has me puzzled (not difficult to do).I have seen this in a functioning DB. I can see that maybe the ID (a long integer) would have to be stored or converted to a string on the fly.

I am currently using Access 2007 but 2010 and 2013 are available (prefer 2007 as MS keep moving things around ).I am currently selecting a client record using either an ID select Combo or a ClientName Combo and works very well. But, after seeing it done in one Combo box, it just seems so elegant.

I have a form that has a Combo box record selector which works fine. I need to add more to the Where condition of this macro.

Combo1 - Options 1-Facility, 2-Physician (referral_type)

Combo2 - Record selector that works, either shows a list of facilities or list of physicians.
Macro SearchForRecord - Where Condition ="[fac_id] = " & Str(Nz([Screen].[ActiveControl].[Column](0),0))

Would like it to be

="[fac_id] = " & Str(Nz([Screen].[ActiveControl].[Column](0),0)) AND [referral_type] = Me!Combo2

Have tried a few different things with no luck.

I am pretty new to VBA and I am having the same problem of hiding and un-hiding columns on a datasheet of a split form. I am building a system that will be used in front of customer and therefore wish to hide columns that contain cost sensitive data. The same forms need to be able to show the Sales Rep the hidden columns simply by ticking a box. Basically a toggle on and off of hidden columns.

I have been playing around with the code below (which i found in another forum) to hide the Field called COO when I click the tick box called chkHIdeFields check box. This works on a Single form but not on a datasheet of a split form.

I have been able to hide the column of my split form by using the ColumnHidden property of the On Load event just as a proof of concept that the ColumnHidden property actually works to hide a column, which it does. This is the code that im using to hide the column called COO.

Me.COO.ColumnHidden = True

However if I then set it to = False and then close and open the form, it doesn't unhide the column. the only way I can unhide the column is to do it from the Form view via the un-hide dialogue pop up box.

I have two issues here, the first one is getting the form to recognize when to hide and when to show the column of the datasheet on the split form and the second is to get the code to for the check box method.

Lastly once I get it working for 1 field I need to be able to define a list of 7 or 8 other fields all at the same time.

when you select the Data sheet View you display error messages in the Accounts Sub reports fields.

The database has been included as a reference:
Forms- Double click Accounts Form By Discipline -data sheet view

Under Current balance,Spent, and Encumbered Columns you get error message instead of the actuall totals.

Please tell me how to correct this prolsdms

Datasheet View

Is it possible to switch the view of a subform to datasheet when a command button on the mainform is selected?

I know it is something involving acFormDS...but I cant figure out the rest of the code! I appreciate your help in advance!

(P.S. I know you can right click the form and select datasheet. Unfortunately there are not many people here that are familiar with MS Access and I dont trust that they will know this)
