I have an excel spreadsheet linked to a table n Access. I have phone numbers that I would like to transfer. I set a format in Excel that made it automatically change to the (###) ###-####, but when I look on the table in Access it shows up ###-#######.
Hi I am trying to work with a large table of customer data. I know that there is a large number of invalid values. I would like to run a make table query that would check the phone number against a table of known invalid numbers (e.g. 1234567, 11111111, 99999999, etc). If the number exists on the invalid table, then I would like to replace it with a null value. Regards Noel
I have three fields in a database with phone numbers. They all appear to be set up the same. They all display the phone number format (xxx) xxx-xxxx when data is entered. One of them looks like a phone number in tables, forms and queries. The other two display as a 10 digit number.
I'm new to Access and VBA, for the record. What I need to do is copy a SQL database (table structures and records) and save it as a local Access database, so that the user can query and make any changes on the local file without editting the SQL database.
Looking around, it seems like the best option would be to use the TransferDatabase method with the acImport option. Does this sound reasonable, or can someone with more experience suggest a better way to go about it? Thanks.
I have a list of 500 PDA users, spread over 7 offices. I want to keep an eye on what happens with the devices and their SIM-cards. As they are often swapped between offices and SIM-cards get lost. I am pretty sure that I don't have to re-invent the wheel. Do you have any idea of a free/shareware tracking tool for PDA's and cell phones ?
the phone rings.. the phone is connected to the computer.. the incoming caller's phone number is sent to the database.. and then possibly used in some way..(eg in a query or displayed on the screen in the database)
anyone had any experience in this process or can recommend a phone/cable setup url...
I'm currently trying to make a simple phone book database that use queries to search through the records. I need to set the search parameters to pick up all records containing a value rather that just search for that specific value.
For instance if I type in "mic" and search I want all records containing mic to appear in results like mick and Michael.
Is there any way this can be done?
So far I have only tried the [please enter first name] method and this has been in successful.
I am trying to help a person that has a 1980s DOS database called "SMART". The program "smart" will output the database in a format that Access should be able to read, but it can't read the full file.
Any obvious ideas about what might be the problem?
I'd like to import an excel file but the data begin from cell "A10", above there is a "privacy text".Is it possibile import or link the excel data in an access table directly from the cell A10?
I have files that have extension of TSV which are text files but viewable in exel. I figured out a way for the user to click on a button in Access which does the following
1. Run Macro in Excel: The macro prompts the user to select the TSV file. After selection, macro opens the employee.tsv file in the excel (with excel being invisible) and saves it as employee.xls
Code: Sub SaveTSVtoXLS() Dim myPath As String Dim myString As Variant Application.DisplayAlerts = False With Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen)
[Code] .....
2. Imports the Excel file (employee.xls) into two tables: tblEmployee and tblDepartment using the following codes.
I'm trying to import data from our current Database Pro v1.0 DB to an Access DB that I'm creating.
Our DBPRO is essentially a flat-file data entry program. It has a "subform" for history events that isn't actually in it's own table, but all concatenated in a single [History] field.
Basically, when viewed in DBPRO, it's broken into different records, yet it's actually stored as one. DBPRO uses °, ±, □, and 0's to separate the different "fields", but Access can't seem to break it down automatically.
When I export the data to a CSV file, everything else comes through with minimal problems. The [History] field, of course, comes in as a huge block of concatenated records.
I've attached an example of this below. I included only the field in question, ([History]), and the primary key, ([Last Name/Cust]). The first tab in my example is a single record, recently imported. The second tab shows how I need it to be, broken into multiple records.
Is there anyway I can split these records, while maintaining the primary key? It's my goal to have all the other information in one table, and the history records in a separate one.
Thanks so much for your help! I've researched all over, and just can't seem to find a similar problem, or solution. :(
I just created a database and need to connect it to the data source. The data comes from a http website (intranet from work). When I open the link using firefox, I can view the website with the data in it, but when I open it from Internet Explorer, I get a save as pop-up message to save a csv file which contains all the data. The extension of the http website ends with csv. So it is something like http (slash slash...) Intranetname/referral_dbase.csv
Currently, I am opening the file using firefox, copying all the data manually, and pasting it in a text file using notepad. After that, I import the file into access. The delimiter of the data is this symbol: |
I am trying to find a way to link my database to the website where the data is located so that I can skip the manual process of opening the website and copying the data and saving it into a text file and then importing that file into access. I was thinking to have like a form in access with a bottom that will automatically import that data from this link and paste it into a table in access using the delimiter symbol mentioned above.
Is this too complicated? Is it even possible in access 2010?
Any way to import a file containing numbers with a "thousand space separator"
example :
1 000 2 000 3 000 4 000 000 5 000 000 000
Only workaround I found so far is to import de numbers into a text field in a temp table, do an update query to remove the spaces and then transfert the data into the real table that has a numeric field.
I want to make a database of diseases (need to learn them for school and would like a serchable database on my smart phone for future reference). Unfortunately spent a lot of time making hundreds of pages of word tables before i realized a database would be better. See attached image or pdf. Is there a way to import the tables to Access?
I need to preserve the hierarchic info in the nested bullet point lists. E.g. under treatment i might have a point called Acute treatment, with sub-levels, Step 1, Step 2, etc. with their own sub-levels. I need to maintain this relational hierarchic info.
Hello I have one question I have simple table in Access 2003 with three fields One is (field name), type - autonumber one is (field name), type - number one is (field name), type - text
my problem is that i need in number field nubers between1 and 2000 and in text fields same numbers between 1 and 2000 with letter G at the end.
that will look like Autonumber 1 ... 574 ... 2000 Number 1 ... 574 ... 2000 Text 1G ... 574G ... 2000G
Problem is that I dont know how to write a code for that i think that there would be a macro. So can someone help me please!
I've got a database, that I'm trying to update for my sister in law.I've got 2 tables, Items and Customers. As I've been working with the id's they have used so far, these aren't currently automated.
for customers, they use their number in the auctions, to place bids etc, so I can't change them. But once I hand over the database, I want to automate the generate of Customer ID numbers from that point on, but not override the history. With the items, what I have done, as an item can be relisted up to 3 times, I created a LogID auto number which is also my key number.
Before I hand it over, I need to do a big update there with them, to pull in the latest customer and item information. But after that, I'd like the new items added, to be given a new automated number, but the logid still needs to be generated automatically as well, as the login allows no duplicates, whereas the itemID does allow duplicates.
Its the item ID that is used to generate an invoice and show how many times its been listed to pick up correct number of fee charges.Customers can be both buyers and sellers, and I had to allocate 2 different fields, and the buyerID just replicates the sellerId number. So the Seller number is the main number on the table, I didn't want 2 tables of buyers and sellers separately, its one table.
I have a database for donation collection. So Receipt No's are already printered. I need to add these numbers in my database table with one click. Is it possible? There too much receipt I don't want to add every receipt my self.
