Hello guys
How can i get the Log-in User name into text box in a form
Thank you
Hi,
I have ADP project + SQL Server Express.
I need display in Form textbox User Name (with then I log into SQL Database).
Thank You in advance for answers.
Hello, all.
I have created a project in Access 2003 to track a student's progess toward a college degree. I want the user to enter their student id in a text box on a form, look up if that user is present in the student table, and if not show the form to enter their student information.
I can't get the text box to accept user input, and return the student info as a single record on the form. I have a query but I don't know how to set the proprerties to run the query.
Thanks for any help.
Hello experts
good morning. here comes my doubt. i use =CurrentUser() in text box of form. but when am testing, the user name is not there in database.
i am using Access 2003 and Access security.
Can anyone tell how to resolve this
Thanks you:)
How do I allow a user the ability to enter in text into a combo-box so that it saves to that record?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a form in which user will enter few values but I need users to enter the comment in relevant text box too only if they have any non zero value.
I have attached an example for reference....where red encircled portion is for values and blue is for relevant comments. If value is non zero then user should be enforced to enter the comment too......system should not allow user to move forward or backward until there is some comment.
We have a function that will allow a user to navigate to a text file and import it to a database. I've been asked to make it import ALL the text files from all sub-directories in the directory IF they've never been imported before (based on FileName and LastModifiedDate). I've set up a table to track what's getting imported (tbl_ImportHistory). I'm thinking what I need to do is use the previous coder's GetFileName function in a recursive loop removing the navigation request and adding the comparison and then, if it imports the file, the name and date need to be added to the tbl_ImportHistory table. But I'm completely unsure of how to do it.
I'm posting the GetFileName function below. I believe once I've got it modified the rest of the code can be left intact as it just parse's and loads whatever file is selected in the GetFileName function.
<code>
Function GetFileName() As String
Dim fd As FileDialog
Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
fd.AllowMultiSelect = False
Dim vrtSelectedItem As Variant
[code]....
I would like to export a table as a text file to a user defined location.
I have it mostly working, but not exactly as I would like. I'm stuck on the user defined location.
I have a Form that contains a subform and two command buttons.
The subform contains the table I want to export as a text file.
The text file has to be comma delimited, no qualifiers.
I have the transfertext command in VBA that works perfectly:
Code:
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, "My Specification Name", "MyTableToExport", StrDirTemp & "input_" & StrPName & "NameCode" & StrDIAUnFormatted & "d" & ".txt", False
What I'm stuck on is the filepath. The file path changes everytime. So I would like to have either the open dialog box (I've tried many different versions that I found on the web.) or to search by the account name for the folder and place the text file in there.
Here is one that is closely working how I want it to:
This is a function that I found, that opens a dialog box for the user to select the folder location. It works, but I can't seem to get it to work properly.
It prompts, the location, then once you select it and press ok. It will add the folder name to the full file name, and place the file in the default root path. Not the selected folder path.
So in the end it will look like this:
D:1_MainMyFolderName_MyTextFileName.txt
I'm somehow stuck on getting to seperate the file path from the file name, so you it look like this:
D:1_MainMyFolderNameMyTextFileName.txt
Code:
Dim MSg As String
Dim SelectedDir As String
Dim SelectedDirFinal As String
Dim SelectedDirName As String
Dim StrFolder As String
[Code] ....
I think it should be something very easy, that I just need a pair of fresh eyes to look.
I've tried the Fileobject, FileFolder method, but can't get the quite work properly.
I've also tried wildcard methods as well:
StrDirTemp = Dir(StrFolder & StrPName & "*", , vbNormal)
But keep throwing up blanks.
i want to get a msgbox to let the user enter the data in specific text boxes so they can't let it empty if not empty then do..this is my code
If Me.Client_Name.Value = "" Then
MSG = MsgBox("You Should Enter The Client Name")
ElseIf Me.Username.Value = "" Then
MSG = MsgBox("You Should Enter The UserName")
ElseIf Me.Address.Value = "" Then
MSG = MsgBox("You Should Enter The Address")
[code]....
the msgboxes that tell the user this textbox is empty is not appearing what's wrong with my code
I'm trying to create a database for a construction company, as an experiment more than anything, and my problem is this:
I need to create a set of identical records in the table "buildings" based on the information entered into a text box by a user on the form for registering a new project. I want each record to be identical except for the "plot number" field, which I want to start at one and increase to the number of buildings defined in the text box.
"Projects" is one table and "Plots" is in the other.
I am building a form in access and I am trying to find a way where user input isn't possible in the associated textbox when "No" from on option box is selected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHi guys,
I've seen different log in forms and tips on multi-user use but can't seem to find info on the following...
We have 6 people at work and I'd like to assign which user updated a form or created a new record...this would be particularly useful on the sales part of the database to track who made a call to a particular customer...
Best ideas anyone?

I have a multi user database in Access 2000 that is on a server. The individual users have shortcuts pointing towards the server instance. One user and one user only when opening the shortcut gets the error "you do not have exclusive rights to the database" .
All other users can enter the database with no error box. I have checked the advanced setting under options and they are correct. Ironically if you go to start and open access then navigate to the database shortcut. It opens with no error.
I have two tables. The first contains details of a budget holders money allocation for a given period, and the other tracks their spend on products over that period. How can I generate a query to calculate the total running spend for each user from the "budget spend table" that will be written into the users record in the "budget allocation table".
My aim is to show details of budget allocation, total spend to date and remaining budget for each user in an Order form / report.
Can anyone please advise me on how to do this or suggest another way of doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards Peter
I have a database for mutli users which is split. Front end is available separately for 3 users. These users make data entry in the same form from their front end form. This particular form has combo box that retrieves data based on selection in combo box and the use starts filling the data in the subform. Upto this, form is Ok, no problems seen.
But when the second user opens the same form from the split database front end stored in his computer, and once the second user selects another record from the combo box, first user's record also changes immediately to the record of Second user. Both users now have the same record even though the form is separately accessed from front end.
I have 4 fields that are unbound on a form. img1 img2 img3 img4..When these are entered they are all combined and autofill another unbound textbox = imagename.. what i would like to do is from this unbound textbox 'imagename' ..i would like to populate a textbox that IS bound called FileName
[Event Procedure]
Private Sub imagename_Click()
Me.imagename = Me.FileName
End Sub
In my form's text box I have noticed that I can;t write paragraphs ie use the TAB key to start a new line. If I use rich text I assume this will be possible. But are there any disadvantages to using rich text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWill like to check, i have a access database which can be open up by a few users.
How can i only allow the first user who open up the database to read and write the database and the follow users who open up the access have only read access?
We need to move rich text from an Access memo field to a Word text box. So far the best Ive been able to come up with is in the code below. In this code pprs!What is a record set field of a table memo field that is bound to a text box enabled for rich text. The rich text seems to be stored as html as so I can get word to convert it by enclosing it in html tags.
Dim What As Word.Shape
Set What = doc.Shapes.AddTextbox(msoTextOrientationHorizontal , doc.PageSetup.LeftMargin, 225, 534, 0)
Dim sPath As String
sPath = "G:Temp.html"
Open sPath For Output As 1
Print #1, "<HTML>" & pprs!What & " </HTML>"
Close #1
What.TextFrame.TextRange.InsertFile (sPath)
I have a single field in a table called "Client Contact", where users enter a semicolon between the name, address, and city state & zip. My reason for this was so we could copy client info with a single copy and paste (like from an email). But, on the final report, it needs to have these three parts split up into different lines, or even different textboxes. I can't find a way to do that.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a column which contains "text digit text" as "AAA 222 BBB". The numbers of letters or digits can vary.
I need to SELECT the column which contains digits in a specific interval. For Example I have
"DFS 673 JKK"
"A 3454 LJLJ"
"SD 854 JKLJD"
I need to SELECT the column which contains 600 < Digit < 700 the result of the query in this case would be "DFS 673 JKK" because 673 is between 600 and 700.
Thanx for any clue or suggestion...
I have a form on which there is a series of text box controls relating to different frequencies. At the moment I enter a value in to each of these manually.
However, I would like to have an unbound text box where I can paste in all the values (6 or 8 of them) from excel and then press a button and they would be copied in to the individual boxes.
So far I have my design:
I'm not sure where to start with regard to the code as I don't know how to handle delimited text - is it column delimited in excel?
I imagine some sort of loop, such as a do until will be required but again not sure.
I am using Access 2007 and 2010. I would like a text box (or label) on a report to autofil using fixed text from a label on a different (closed) form.

I have a Form Display Data in my Access Database, which is working really well. However, users was asking if there is a way we can make Font Color Could/would change if The text in A field or Any field in my display form contained the word "SAD or MAD". Is there code for such thing in display form?..
