How To Programmatically Enter/retrieve/modify A Form With A Subform In An Unbound

Apr 14, 2005

Pls. help!!!, the attached document is the application I want to programmatically control the data entry:

1.) Parent Form is unbounded fields, and set a record source in my table "BidTabTransaction". If I want to retrieve record, I just populate the table by querydef and sql into recordset and put all the table fields into form fields. The same thing if I want to save the record, and edit the record in the form.

2.) My problem is the child form. I set a record source in my table "BidTab Details". I set the child form to allowaddition=Yes; data entry=No;Allowdeletion=No;AllowEdits=No then it just simply display the records which is equal to Bid Tab No. because it is bounded the form fields into record source fields of "BidTabDetails" Table.

How could I retrieve a record from parent form and display the details in the child form in both unbounded form fields? (FrmBidTabTransaction & FrmBidTabDetails)

I would be grateful if someone out there attends immediately with my problem because I am in deadlock deadline to submit at least a partial running application. Thank you for your kindness...

Will be waiting. You can email me at jrb_ph@yahoo.com. God Bless!!!

Sincerely,
Rody

Ps. I created this using MS ACCESS 2003.

Enter A Code To Retrieve All Information From Selected Row

Feb 5, 2015

I'm not an advanced user of Microsoft Access 2010, I've been working on a database for a company that does Non Destructive Testing, so my task is to simplify how the technicians process the information and make their jobs easier.

Firstly, I have assigned a Unique Identification to a code in this case - X8120 This code is assigned to a row of information.

What i want to do is enter the code X8120 into a text-box and once the code is enter, i want the database to retrieve all information that's assigned to that code from the row (which is 17 fields) in a table.

When the information is retrieve, i want those 17 fields to automatically populate into their own text-boxes, so there would be 17. This would all be on one form. So the technician only has to enter a code which displays the information relating to the testing the technicians have done.

What i have done so far is made the table into a form and added a select button command, so a technician would click on a button that opens a form and select the row of information they want and populates those 17 fields.

So my aim is to simply enter a code or an event and the database will retrieve the information instead of going through a form to select the information. So i am simplifying the process even more.

General :: Tracking Visitors - How To Enter And Retrieve Information On Daily Basis

Aug 12, 2012

I have visitors who come in from one to several days at a time through different times of the year. Usually someone visits each day. Currently I use Excel to track visitors but I often keep typing and retyping the same persons over and over.

I would like to create a database of these people but I'm stuck with how to enter and retrieve the information on a daily basis. Should I create a table with many date fields (up to several); or just two; one FROM and one TO and try to draw the information out through a query? If so, how would one ask ACCESS with a query to PRINT TODAYS LIST and another VIEW TODAYS LIST (of visitors) with a button on a form (I know how to create buttons).

Modules & VBA :: Subform Reference Via Unbound Form

May 8, 2014

I have form named SearchForm and there is unbound subform named Search_blank. Depending on button in menu is used source object of Search_blank. One of the source objects is form named MeasureForm and it has subforms named MeasureForm_sf1 and MeasureForm_sf2. How can I reference public sub in MeasureForm_sf1 from SearchForm? How can I reference public sub in MeasureForm_sf1 form MeasureForm_sf2?

There might be a problem with unbound form. I tried reference public sub named GetLastVal from SearchForm that is in MeasureForm:

Code : Me!Search_blank.Form.GetLastVal

and it was working. Than I tried reference public sub named GetLastVal2 from SearchForm that is in MeasureForm_sf1:

Code : Me!Search_blank.Form!MeasureForm_sf1.Form.GetLastVal2

and I got RunTime error 2465, cannot find MeasureForm_sf1

Forms :: Enter Parameter Value On Unbound Field

Nov 27, 2013

I'm using Access 2013.

My scenario is: I have a Form to add Job Logs. This form has a cascading combo box with Clients filtering Projects. However, the Clients Combo Box is unbound, Projects is bound to the ClientProjects ID. I had to do this instead of have a key for both Clients and Projects in my Job Logs table due to the fact that Clients and Projects have a many-to-many relationship.

For Adding Job Logs this is fine.

My Problem: I have separate forms for viewing and editing Job Logs, and naturally, because Clients has no binding, every time I run these forms Access brings up the 'Enter Parameter Value' Message Box. I have tried a VB script to assign the Client ID based on the ClientProject ID value stored in the Projects combobox, on Form Load, however it still asks me to enter the Parameter Value and just writes the code in the combobox. Here's the Script:

Private Sub Form_Load()
Me.SelectClient = "SELECT Client ID, Client Name " & _
"FROM Client Projects Query " & _
"WHERE ClientProjectID = " & Me.SelectProject.Value
End Sub

Also, the Projects Combobox is also empty.

Forms :: Set Up Navigation Form - Search Unbound Subform Records

May 16, 2014

have set up a navigation form which contains 5 unbound subforms that are made visible or not visible thru the on click event of command buttons on the main form, the subforms have a command button with an embedded macro that searches for a record based on what has been keyed to an unbound text box on the subform, this works fine when the sub forms are opened independently of the navigation form but when the search is done from within the main form, the error message is, "....cannot find the referenced from frmAQIFAList" subform, I tried referencing the main form name infront of the subform name but this also doesn't work, perhaps this would be better with code ? or is it because the subforms are unbound ?

Modules & VBA :: Unbound Subform Has No (null) Records - Form Stays Blank

Aug 4, 2015

The unbound Parent form has a listbox (SQL Server) , the selection updates the SubForm with a primary key ID. The Subform is a ReadOnly view from an Oracle Linked table. It populates with a Select * From Oracleview where ID = listboxID The code is at the link shown below update: The subform uses textboxes linked to the read-only record.

The main form can populate, no problem. However the SubForm data source is either populated OR is Null.

If it is Null, the subform stays blank. Two Objectives:

1. Set a boolean variable flag in the parent (main form) that subform record exist or that it is null. e.g. Parent obtain recordset count property from Sub form
2. Display the subform with blanks.

Forms :: Make Certain User Enter Records On Subform Before Attempting To Save Main Form

Dec 4, 2014

How can I make certain my user enters records on a subform before attempting to save the main form? Right now they can completely ignore the subform before saving the record. The Main form has business address, etc. on it. the subform is bound to a join table that lists the multiple categories, subcategories and sector the business is listed in for a directory.

I already have my fields set to required at the table level in the join table, and have some existing VBA in both my subform (to update edited date) and my form (to validate empty records where a certain condition is met) but that's not the issue...

How do I focus the user to enter a record on the subform to the point where they are forced to enter something and complete the subform before the record is updated.

Unbound Subform Counts Toward Two Subform Depth Limit?

Jul 26, 2006

I didn't know that Access is supposed to only have 2 subform deep. On my form, I have three subform deep. However, the master form is unbound, not linked to subforms, and nothing more than a container for tab pages which contains their own subforms and has no code directly associated with data. There is a code to move subform to new record when tabs changes, but that's all.

Does that mean there is really only two subforms deep from the topmost form on the tab page or the subform depth has been exceeded whether the master form has no role in data transaction?

How Can I Modify The Standard Access Form?

Sep 18, 2005

Hi
I am getting fed up of repeatedly modifying the basic new form in Access 2003 since I hate Tahoma and I never want dividing lines and I always want the VBA to be Option Explicit and I have my own ideas on colour schemes etc. etc.
Every new form I enter I have to make all the changes manually and simply wondered if I am being an ass. I can modify templates in Word and Excel so if I could do the same thing in Access I could save myself cumulative hours of work.
I cannot seem to find anything so does everyone else bow to what Microsoft think a form should look like or do you all do what I do and endlessly recreate the same starting point for each form???
Any pointers would be 110% wonderful!!
Best wishes

How To Modify Data Retrived Form A Query !?

Mar 27, 2006

i am very rookie with access.. infact i am doing my first project in access for a friend.. here is my doubt...

this frnd has toy making business.. he wants to keep track of this inventory... i have made one table (ItemId(PK), Item descripstion, noOff, parentItem(FK), stock)..
noOff is the no of child items required for a particular parent item..

now i have to run a query to get all the items which have same parentItem.. for this i designed a form... have put 3 text boxes and a subform.. one to accept the parentItem.. 2nd to display its description.. 3rd one to accept no of parent items which i wud be the multiplying factor for the child item noOff.. (default is one..)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/sledge045/171205/form_prd_data.jpg

now i can retrive the parentItem id.. from the form and use it in the WHERE clause...

SELECT ItemData.ItemID, ItemData.ItemDescription, ItemData.noOff
FROM ItemData
WHERE (((ItemData.ParentItem)=[Forms]![Display Product Data]![txtProdId]));

but i want to retive the value in the No off: box and multiply it to all the child item's no off...

i have tried to multiply ItemData.noOff with [Forms]![Display Product Data]![txtNoOff] but did not got the desired results....

i need help with this... or if u know ne other way to do it... plese post a reply... thanks...

Auto-modify User Form Input

Feb 2, 2006

I have a form where a user will enter a 11 digit number (12345043456). Using ASP (VB) this string of numbers queries an access database and returns the entry for that specific number to the user.

Unfortunately, the numbers in the access table are an 11 digit number with hyphens seperating the string like this 12345-04-3456 (the ndc # of a pharmaceutical).

So What i need is some code that monitors and modifies the form input so that the hyphens are added in to the string when the user is inputting the data.

If i cannot do this, then is there some VB that I can add which modifies the field in the text file when it is imported into access on a daily basis.

Thanks
Terrons

Can't Modify Fields In Form With Table INNER JOIN Query

Oct 5, 2004

Hello, exactly how Access 2002 and SQL operate is still a bit fuzzy to me.

In brief:
tableAccounts has fields for Signatory1ID and Signatory2ID, and other stuff
tableSignatories has ID for a primary key and has SignatoryTypeID as a field
tableSignatoryTypes has ID for a primary key and SignatoryType as a field

For each account, on a Form I want to show the Signatory and SignatoryType info for both signatory1 and signatory2. I have tried creating various queries and INNER JOINing the tables and/or queries together, but whenever I manage to get all the information displayed, none of it is editable. Access seems to lock the various text boxes and combo boxes.

Any thoughts?

Modules & VBA :: Module To Modify Report Controls Based On Form?

Feb 12, 2015

I am trying to create a customizable report that would allow the users to choose fields. I have a pretty common code that I found online and adapted it, but it fails on the first SetReportControl function.

The error reads: Run-time error 2465: Application-defined or object-defined error

Could it be something as simple as an incorrect reference? I have checked multiple times, but I am stumped.

Code:
Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Sub MakeReport()

[Code].....

This is a trial run, in the end I need to be able to open a report, then adjust the Report controls within 1 or more subreports inside the main report. That is a battle for another day.

Forms :: Enter Parameter Value For Subform Search

Apr 8, 2013

I have attached a (slimmed down) Access 2007 database used for Asset Management and fault reporting. It opens on the main form which has a number of subforms and one sub-subform.

To make the form as user friendly as possible I am placing a number of unbound text boxes on the FormHeader to be used for search queries. The AfterUpdate event for each text box executes the necessary query, searching on the contents of the text box.

This works absolutely fine for the 'Colloquial Name' text box and associated field - this field is in the main table, RTI_Assets. The main form frmRTI_Assets is bound to this table. The query executed is called 'Colloquial Search'.

I cannot however get the 'Fault Reference' search to work on the field Supplier_Reference in the RTI_Fault table (the subform subfrmRTI_Fault is bound to this table). The query executed is called 'Fault Reference Search'.

There are 15 records in the assets table and 2 records in the faults table - with supplier references 555 and 101010.

I get prompted with Enter Parameter Value for the field RTI_Fault.Supplier_Reference if I enter 555 in the text box. Whatever I enter in this prompt I get returned to the first record.
