Jul 10, 2005
I have OLE Object connected to a source Document. Each time I change the source document to a new one by using the sourcedoc property and action property. What I need is how to programatically print this document.

Hi
I want to open a Word Document in access, so I am using the Runapp macro. It says to enter a command line. So, i input the path of the document and run the macro. It works great! But now I need to get the Word document to print after it is opened.
I wasn't sure how to do this. I have tried to create a macro in Word to automatically print the document but that didn't work. Then I used the RunCommand under macros in Access and selected PrintOut. I received an error message and I also tried the sendkeys. Nothing has worked.
Anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Any help would be great!
Thanks

Hi,
I have some queries in a list. When I run one of them I would like to show result on form. I made a subform and I defined from code in runtime the actually selected query as the subform's source object. It didn't work. :(
Why? How could I show a query's results on a form?
If somebody could help me , I would be very grateful!

I'm trying to change a database that consists of a sequence of subforms held individually within different tabs on a subform. There seems to be a bit too much going on, so I've decided to leave the subforms unbound, and set them when the appropriate tab is selected, and unset them when the tab is changed. For most of the subforms, this works fine...
However! There's always an exception!!!
On one of them, when I set the sourceobject, it automatically populates the linkchildfields and linkmasterfields properties with an inexplicably crazy number of fields, most of which aren't even on the forms in question. I've tried to get around this by setting linkchildfields and linkmasterfields after changing the sourceobject. This does not work!
The first thing that happens is it returns error 2335 (relating to an imbalance between the number of fields) when I set linkchildfields. I try to get around this by trapping and resuming to the next step so it sets linkmasterfields and restores the balance, but, despite the fact that the linkchildfields and linkmasterfields are showing the correct fields, the form acts as if it has been bound with the screwy list of fields, and starts asking for fieldnames which are on neither form as parameters. When I hit cancel the subform control is empty.
I'm at a loss as to what the problem is or how I should sort it out! Any suggestions gratefully received.

How can I to automate this process? How can I automatically insert empty word document on adding new item?

I have a listbox "lbxMP" that holds names of forms and a subform "ctrlMP" that opens selected form (ctrlMP.sourceobject = lbxMP). I also have some various master cbx that control criteria in each form. I am trying to create a button that will not only clear/null all the cbx values (which works fine), but I am having a hard time telling me.ctrlMP to go back to null or unbound (i want it to blank out the subform to make it look fresh). I have tried requry and also me.ctrlMP = null and ctrlMP=unbound with no luck.

I am trying to join a number of reports into one report. I have a generic report which displays a different dataset given the user's choice on a form. I created a collection where I can store multiple instances of this report (called mcolReportInstances) - this works just fine.
I was looking to combine all the reports in the collection into one report. To that end, I have created a report with a number of subreport controls but with no sourceobject. In the On_Open event of this blank report, I am trying to set the source object of the subreport to one of reports in my collection:
Me.Controls("Child" & i).SourceObject = mcolReportInstances.Item(strKey)
However, it keeps giving me the error 'Type mismatch'.

I have a form that displays a html document in a WebBrowser object. This displays fine on screen but shows up blank when printing the form. Is there any way to get this to appear on the print? I know you can right-click on the object and select "print" to print the contents of the object but ideally I'd like the page to print in the context of the form. Is this possible?

I have a linked excel table in my database but sometimes because the network is down I am getting "not responding" message from Access if I accidentlaly try to open the linked table while off-line. That does not seem to timeout at all. I am wondering where I can actually set the timeout so Access will not hang trying to get to the linked source?

I have a linked table and want to change it's data source to another table entirely -- ie: different file name.
Can this be done with linked tables, or can you just link to another file with the same name but in another directory? If linked tables have this limitation, how would you accomplish what I'm trying to do. I want to keep the same name for the linked table.
Ultimately, I want to populate a listbox with the different files in a directory and change tblSource to point at the chosen data source.
Thanks,
Randy

I have been working on quite a few multi user Access projects in the past few months with a backend and a front end which has linked tables.
I would like to know if there is any way to find out the source of a table linked to the front end and where would its location be on the network.

However every expression I try for DCOUNT throws back error? or name?. How to sort my code?
=DCount("[EPISODEUNIQUEKEY]","1-12 Show Records by Date Range","[Days] = '4'")

Suppose I have a front end and backend (tables) database which I want to deploye. Currently Access tries to find the backend in the same absolute location (rather than relative position). This causes a problem as drive letters change and sometimes I would want it in a specific location on my computer and another place on deployed computer. Is there anyway to change source of linked tables after compiling to ACCDE

I'm working in 2003 (still) and have a macro to print the selected form the user has on their screen. I need this same macro to also print a PDF in a particular network folder or just exit if the PDF doesn't exist. I've tried RunSQL with "PrintDoc [Link2PDF]" as the argument. I've tried RunApp with "Acro Rd32.exe /t [Link2PDF]" as the argument but neither one works. The RunApp line will open the Adobe reader but nothing more.

I am using MS Access 2007.
I have created a multi-valued field "Product Category" that lookups data items from a linked table. So, the Data Type for the multi-valued field "Product Category" is Number.
Now I want to change the Data Type of "Product Category" from Number to Text, and make a value list that I can type values in and can provide the same data items as the linked table.
How to change item source for the multi-valued field from a linked table to a list that I can type in values? Is there a feature provided by MS Access 2007 can enable such a conversion?

I am using an unbound object frame to display an .png image file which is set in vba.
The image is an excel chart saved as a .png
The problem I have however is that the image I save from Excel is great quality, and is pretty tack sharp, but when I display the same file in the unbound object frame in access, it is not nearly as sharp.
I am setting the picture property of the control as:
ubImageUserChart = "c: empmyChart.png"
It displays alright, but is just a bit fuzzy - still quite legible, but it is a complex graph with a lot going on - has regressions and formulas etc on the graph, and they need to be very clear.
BTW - the unbound frame is the same size as the Excel chart which gets saved as a .png file. If I tile the images (Access unbound frame and original file in picassa preview) side by side - they are identical - size, orientation etc.
It is not practical for me to try and do the chart natively in access as it is way to complex. I am using access vba to drive an excel session to do all the statistical yack work and chart rendering, then displaying a png image of the resulting chart in an unbound object frame in access.

I have one DB that is used for creating/storing customer ID's, and another DB that is used for creating/storing job information for customers.I have linked the table from the customer DB to the job DB.
There is a table in the job database that holds customer name and ID, and some VBA that generates unique job codes.
Is it possible to have the data from the linked table automatically update into the existing table?

Hello
I am using Access 2003(11.6355.6360) SPI
When I attempt to create a new DB - by performing Blank Database I immediately get a message 'Object Library not registered'.
If I 'OK' that box and try to create a table, I can do so - create Table in design view.
When I then try to Import external data - an excel file I get the message 'ActiveX component Can't create object'.
I have looked ob various sites for help and forum information regarding these errors but have found nothing conclusive, with specidfic regard to Access 2003.
The version has been loaded on my machine about 1 year as part pf Office Professional but this is the first time I have attempted to run Access itself.
Does any forum member have any ideas as to how this problem could be resolved.
Thank You
Rgds

I am currently building a database for the company I work for that is fairly similar to the Northwind Database; however it is made from scratch so hopefully some of the common problems with that database won't find their way into mine.My problem is that when I go to my Orders form, I pick a customer from the main form, which creates a record on the Orders table. When I then go to the subform to choose a product/line item, I get the error in my title ("The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'OrdersT.") as soon as a product is chosen from the drop down list.

The error is:
The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'tblIndividual.' '
Then it also gives me the same one on another table.
I think it has something to do with the link master/child fields. I've tried all kinds of relationships with the three tables and can't figure it out.
I've tried uploading the database here but it won't. It's on my Sky Drive.

I have an unbound form with three tabs. On each tab there is a sub form. Each tab is a search form and each sub is a results returned. I have made everything unbound and set the sub form recordsource and its controls control souce on afterupdate of the main form search criteria. Works fine except for after some use the db decides the sub forms are not unbound and sets the record source and control sources.
I'm trying to do a
Me.PollingPlacesResults.Form.RecordSource = ""
Me!PollingPlacesResults!PollID.ControlSource = ""
but this does not seem to work in actualy removeing the record source and control source.

I'm getting an error message (informational only):
The object doesn't contain the automation object 'ClientID.'You tried to run a visual basic procedure to set a property or method for an object. However, the component doesn't make the property or method available for Automation operations.
Check the components documentation for information on the properties and methods it makes available for automation operations.
This happens when I start entering data in the field "productname" of a subform.
So I'm assuming something in the form or in the code of the form is referring to ClientID. but I've checked it, and there is nothing referring to it anymore. Well, at least as far as I'm aware of.
This afternoon access crashed without any error, it just closed. Upon reopening the DB again, all my work of the past one and a half week was gone. Normally I always backup the data, but these past days I didn't due to christmas and still working a lot too. So I forgot.
I did some redesigning in the process this evening, deleting and adding some fields and code.
I can't get rid of this error. Can anyone help? Or point me in the right direction?
Also the DB is 3.5MB in size. While it is completely empty. And I can't imagine that some empty tables, queries, forms and a bit of code can be so much. But that's for a later time to worry about I guess, unless one of you says: this and that, maybe that works... Otherwise, I would really be very glad already if the error disappears....
