Display A List Of The Most Recent Records

hi. i would like this to happen....

i have a database where jobs are entered and the date and times of the jobs are kept in separate Date and Time fields.
to enter a date the user uses this method "30 12 05" and to enter a time like this "21.30"

i would like a query that will display the 10 most recent job additions according to their respective date and times. however, it will not be enough simply to view these records in a report.. what would be ideal is if the 10 records are opened.. in their original form format (goto next record...previous...(1/10...5/10) and the fields are editable like in the default job entry form. this is because after a job record has been added, maybe 20 or so minutes later, that record would need to be retreived as the last bits of information for that record will have been established.

how can this be acheived. i am clueless at the moment, so if there is a solution even resembling this scenario that would be ideal. (if a filter is going to be used...it can be either the 'date' or the 'time' fields, ideally though the query would use a combination of the two to retreive a more exact date to filter the records by)

Hey guys,

I have created a list box that is based on a select statement using the value of another list box.

for example:
box1 lets you select aaaa
box2 shows a list of all the records that have aaaa

now I need to know how to clear the list as box1 is changed

right now it will give me

aaaa123
aaaa789
bbbb123
bbbb789

I need to know how to clear it so that
aaaa is deleted and bbbb shows when the code is stepped through a second time.

code is as follows:

I've got three tables:

Code:
tblequipment
equipmentid
equipmentnumber (user defined ID)

tblrentals
rentalid
rentaldate
rentaltime
fromparty (c for customer, e for employee, o for other)
frompartyid (foriegn key to either customer, employee or other)
toparty (same as from)
topartyid (same as from)

tblrentaldetails
detailid
rentalid
equipmentid

How can I get a list of ALL equipment showing the most recent date and time, also showing the respective toparty and topartyid? I can get it fairly easily, except for including toparty and topartyid.

Clear Combo And List Boxes

on my form i have two unbound combo boxes and an unbound listbox. when i delete or go to a new record these still contain the data from the previous record. what is the code to clear them? have looked through the propeties and there is no useful 'clear' event that i can see. :confused:

List Boxes - Clear For New Record

Hi Everyone again, (i'll try my best to explain) (Sorry if it doesn't make sense)

I have a main form - everything on the formn is linked to the User ID

I have created a List box1 which contains many selection. (Lets say a menu for food)
Once one item has been selected i have a button which adds the selected choice to another List Box2
this can be repeated to show Every item the client has selected.

I have linked both List Boxes to the User ID

This all works fine, it reconises the user IDs on every record but i would like the List Box2 to be clear
instead of holding all the previous records data when a new record is created.

Any ideas or am i barking up the wrong tree,

I am getting an error saying there are too many params on the second run through. What i need is to clear the param list once it's executed once.

Is this possible or to i need to keep killing the conn then re-connecting to the db?

Find Most Recent Invoice And Most Recent Funding For Client

Hello all

I'm sure the answer is on here somewhere but trying to find it and then getting it to work is a bit of a problem, so i resorted to posting.

I have 5 tables
Partnership Details, Invoices, Funding, Communication, Communication Types.

the field Partnership Name in the Partnership Details table has a one to many relationship with the partnership name on tables: Invoices, Funding and Comunication.

What I want to do is create a query that will show the most recent invoice (detirmined by date) and the most recent funding (detirmined by date) for each partnership.

I can do this using max if I only want the feilds Partnership name, invoice date and funding date. however I want to create a report that will show several feilds from partnership details and I want to show the invoice no. and amount as well as the date and also the amount and notes field for funding

Is anyone able to help?

Is it possible to edit the recent files of a access database?

We have a main database (version control database) from where you can open a database which is located on a network drive.

By selecting the datbase you need from a dropdown menu, access will check which version you have locally. If there is an updated version available on the network it will download this updated version, overwriting the old one. The 'main' database is then closed and the local version of the database you needed is opened.

The problem is that this local database is mentioned in the recent files history so people are able to bypass using the main database.

In Excel you can clear the recent files with application. Recent Files setting the maximum to 0 and back to original again. In Access you do not have this option.

Where I would be able to find this option. Ideally I'd like to only take out a specific databasename from the recent files, rather then resetting the full list.

Thanks for considering my question. I have developed a DB with about 60 tables, all related by one-to-many relationships. During development, I placed values in the tables, generated keys, etc. so things have gotten quite cluttered. Is there a way (vb program, access method, etc.) that I can use to remove all the entries from the table, and essentially start with a set of clean tables and no keys? I'd like to be able to run this from a control on a form.

I have a database that is used to allocate appointments to our staff. It has 2 tables, one that lists the clients we need to call in that day, and another that stores details of each contact attempt. I'd like to design a query that find all clients who we have not dealt with so we can easily get their details in a list. I know what the criteria for the query would be, but I'm stuck for how to actually execute it. Here are the details.

Table tClients stores the current clients - primary key is named "clientRef"
Table tContactEvents stores each contact attempt and the date/time is stored in a field named "dateTime".

When an entry has been dealt with successfully a yes/no field named "completed" will be set to "Yes".

There may be many attempts to contact a specific client on a given day, unsuccessful attempts will not have the completed flag set.

Once the completed flag is set that client will be ignored so no further entries will appear.

So I need a query that searches tContactEvents for the most recent match to each number in tClients.clientRef and checks if the completed flag is set. If the completed flag is false, or if the number has no match (i.e. no contact attempts made yet) then the clientRef should be displayed. I also need this to be restricted to the current date, as the same client could have rebooked their appointment to a different day.

My problem is this:
I want to import a *.xls file in a table.
I want to be able to select a certain *.xls file from a list (so far no probs) en add it contents to a table selected in a browser window.

I have been asked if I can add a priority list to my database and I am trying to figure out how to do it.

The database already exists and this would be added code/forms. Basically this database has a number of users, all identified by a login name. Each of these users have several projects assigned to them. The projects are identified by a unique project number.

What I need to do is to be able to list all the projects that a user has, which is easy to do by simply creating a query, but then the user needs to be able to type in a priority number (1 to infinity) for each of these projects with no number repetitions. If a project priority is updated, say from 6 to 2, then the projects that had priorities 2 to 5, get a +1 added to their priority number so they go 3 to 6. Likewise if a project gets "demoted" (priority is lowered) then the ones below go up one.

I am doing a checklist database.

With some other data, i have a field called "Local". (combobox)

In that "Local" field i must select the place where the checklist is made.

So, i have 20 places to do checklists, and when i select one place and save the check list, i need that "local" is disable from my combobox list so i dont accidentally repeat it.

My combobox is based in a table query.

I must do 2 checklists per day for each those 20 places...

And i cant figure out how to remove those items after use them at the morning... and have them available again in the afternoon.

List Box Causing Database Engine Could Not Lock Table

I've added a list box to my form that displays a table. This table is completely independent and gains it's data from an Append query. There is also a Delete query, which clears the table for a new set of data, and an Alter query which resets an AutoNumber column in the table (so that new data sets always start numbered at 1).

Here's the problem: Since I've added the listbox and set the RowSource to the table, whenever I run the Append query I receive the error: "The database engine could not lock table 'tblLineSheet' because it is already in use by another person or process." I've made sure to close the table, but to no avail I still get this error. Without the List Box I don't encounter this error.
