Dec 15, 2005Right, I knew this day would arrive and have somewhat been dreading it but excited by the idea of a new development at the same time.
We have a database within the school on our server that staff would like to be able to access at home through the internet. They will need to be able to view, add and edit data. What is my best way of doing this for someone who has never done this before?
Is it possible just to put a link on a website? or do I have to covert?
Is the MSAcces dataaccess pages something i should look at? Should I use VB.NET? ASP.NET?Frontpage? Everyone seems to have a different take on this from the forum but most of the advice was quite old. So what do you all think out there?
And How can I learn really really fast? Any online tutorials or Books people can suggest would be ever so helpful as well.

May 10, 2014I have a .accdb Access 2010 (new laptop) database I want to work on in Access 2007 (old desktop) - but it won't let me. Says "you must have at least version 14.000" But in 2010, when I do a File>Save database there aren't any other options other than .accdb.
Is there a way to do this?
Database Results On Page

I currently have an inventory system on database and my customers can access this by clicking a link on the homepage, which in turn, pops up a search form and results table. When they enter the item number it returns the qty. available, without a problem.
The problem I am having is this; I would like to have the search form on the same page they are looking at (no pop-ups). I figure the inventory system will get used more often this way. BUT when I went ahead and tried to put the search form on the page it seemed to work out ok, except that when you click submit (to start the query) it sends me to my 404 page.
When the search form was a pop-up, it just returned the results to the same page. Is there any way that I can get the search form on the same page they would be looking at, to avoid any further windows for them to open and close??
Also, to advance this a bit, is there any way that I can have the database results posted to the page without a search form? Just posted based on the item number in the URL??

General :: Publishing Access Database On Web - Convert To HTML?
Feb 1, 2013I have small program in access database which contains about 100 cca tables, querys, forms, macros in total. Customer which both program from me, wants me to enable him to access this program not just from work, it wants to access it from home or when he is on business trip from hotel etc.
I am little confused how to achieve this and what are my options? I assume I have to set by database somewhere on server and so my customer could access it any time? Do I have to upsize access database to SQL express or similar?
Also, one more important question: is it possible to "convert" access database into HTML code or similar so it could be accessed via web browser without need to install microsoft access and with freedom that it can be opened from any type of PC OS (Linux, Mac etc)?

Using HTML Page To Update Database
Apr 1, 2006I have a scenario at work I need some help with. I'm just checking to make sure it is possible before I dive further into it.
We need a database for approximately 40 people to access at one time. They don't really need to access the database itself just be able to update it.
The question that was posed to me was this: Can we use an HTML page to update the database?
This will not be run through SQL or IIS or anything of that nature. It will just be an HTML page that is accessed through a users folder. On the HTML page will be the input boxes and a submit and reset button.
I made a data access page, but I really don't want the users to be able to go through the previous entries. I also wasn't sure if more than one person could be accessing the page at once.
Is a simple form page with a submit button possible not running on a web server?

Aug 7, 2015I have files that have extension of TSV which are text files but viewable in exel. I figured out a way for the user to click on a button in Access which does the following
1. Run Macro in Excel: The macro prompts the user to select the TSV file. After selection, macro opens the employee.tsv file in the excel (with excel being invisible) and saves it as employee.xls

Viewing Database Info In A Data Access Page
Oct 18, 2004I am very new to access and have a question which I think is very easy to answer. What I have is an access file with a listing of companies, their contacts and what services we provide for them. (each company/client/service is listed in a row with each new set of information on the row below it).
What I am looking to do it to create a data access page that anyone in our office can view. I want the access page to have a text box where they can type in the name of the company, then click a 'search' button. That will then display the results in a box below everything. The results would be the contact and the services (there are other columns in the datasource as well, but I didn't list them).
If anyone can shed some light onto my problem it would be most appreciated!

Unable To Create A Main Menu Page For Database
Jun 2, 2015I want to create a main menu page for my database. I have tried the Navigation form and obviously I am doing something wrong....because the tabs won't open the forms. We have Access 2010 at work and I would like to create something similar to this:
Cardinal Rap - Main Menu

This button would take me to another screen that would list the tables for appropriation, expenditures and revenue, each with their own respective button

The tabs in the Navigation form don't seem to do anything.

I don't always want to break to a new page with this subreport. However, I would want to break to a new page if the subreport cannot fully print on the current page.

Nov 22, 2004I have a report that lists states and cities within the states. When a state name happens to be at the end of the page the individual cities appear on the next page with no State heading. I solved the second page problem by setting the "repeatSection = Yes" in the Section Header (though I haven't shown that in the example below).
But the previous page (which just shows the State Name and no cities looks dumb. Is there some sort of solution.??
(Actually I would also like any State that continues to a next page to not just have the state name but something like
" Colorado (Continued)" Is there anything I can do in VB to make a page break if the section is going to print but therer isn't enough room for one detail line?

Reports :: Page Header - Don't Display If No Detail Records - On Last Page
Jun 13, 2015If I have a report and it has controls (labels representing column titles) in the page header. Now when I print the report - if it happens that the last page has no detail records - but there is text boxes and so forth in the report footer. Is there a way to not display the page header on the last page?
I have a report where the last page shows the page header - and the field/column labels on the page header - but for which there is no detail records left to display - on the last page. There is report footer information that should display. It just looks weird because the field/column labels show at the top of the page - but there is no data remaining to print under them on that last page.
Data Access Page Filter Refresh The Page

I have a data access page needs a filter by a dropdownlist, the dropdownlist used is a html control and I use javascript to filter the data programmaticlly in the onchanged event of the control.
MSODSC.DataPages(0).Recordset.Filter="AppID = 3";
My problem is, when this statement runs, the page refreshes. But I don't need the page refreshes, it set the dropdownlist text to the default text, not the value user select. The browser is IE7.
How can I stop the page refresh itself?

Forms :: One Page Form Printing Blank Second Page
Oct 21, 2013I have one-page forms which print a second page, blank except for a block of grey shading at the top. I have tried moving the content of the form up but that doesn't eliminate the second page. If I look at print preview, every second page of the entire database shows up as blank, regardless of where that happens to appear in the record.

Nov 8, 2005I have a (crosstab) query that summarizes information in the way that I need for a module that I have written. However, I've noticed that the each time the module tries to pull a value from the query (every step of a Do loop) it takes seconds, compared to a "real-time" pull from a table. I have had a program running for about 2 days now, whereas a similar program that pulled data from only tables took only 15 minutes. I don't forsee needing the data in its original form.
How do I convert a query to a table? (Export the query to Excel and then import.)
I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Jul 21, 2015I have three tables in a database horse, entry, prize and I am supposed to get the result by one query. A list is required of horses that have career winnings better than that of the average horse. List the horse_id, horse name and the career winnings.
A career winning is the sum of all money won by a horse. The solution must include horses that have not won any prizes when calculating average winnings. Remember to exclude the dummy horse entries for Unknown Sire and Unknown Mare.It is way too complicated for me to get the result by one queries as its nested critera.my solutuin is to create 5 queries with each one getting to the result a bit closer.bit by bit, basing on every previous query, my final query gets the result.Below are my 5 queries in numeric order:

Reports :: Footer To Bottom Of Page Or Page Footer To Last Page Only
Oct 23, 2014I am trying to create an invoice report. I want to add all the costs from the detail section in my footer. I have accomplished this in either the Report footer and/or the page footer, but the problem is that the report footer doesn't go to the bottom of the page, and the page footer doesn't go to just the last page. I have tested a bunch of suggestions that don't seem to work.
1. Print page footer with Report header = NO - only works if your report is two pages or more.
2. Private Sub PageFooterSection_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)

The Page functions worked, but it did not change the results from page to page. If it was a two page report, then the if statement is false and the text box was not visible on page 1, but it also was not visible on page 2.
How To Continue A Form Page After Page Automatically
Jul 9, 2005to automatically create a second, third, fourth... page depending on how many characters are in the narrative. The only other thing needed to be changed is the page# of Page#.
So right now my form looks like below

Calendar On Page 1 Also Displaying On Page 4 Of Form
Sep 3, 2006Hi All
I have added the Allen Browne Calendar 2k control to my form.
My form consists of 4 pages. On pages 2 and 3 I have subforms and on page 4 I have Personal data. Page 1 is general data and the Calendar is on Page 1.
What is happening is that the Calendar is also being displayed on my 4th page, in the same position as page 1. When I try to move it, cover it or delete it from page 4, it is also gone from page 1.
Any suggestions please?

Reports :: Page Footer To Print On The 1st Page Only

This works fine when you view it in print preview, but the footer don't show up at all when you actually print it.The reports default view itself is set print preview.
