How To Copy A Report And Point It To Its Copied Query
Jul 16, 2015
So I have this killer report that took me hours to set up. I run it daily and it is great.
I now need to filter it slightly for 1 specific user. So what I did was I copied the query and renamed it. I added the filter I needed. But I don't want to have to re-create the report. Even though I know what I need it will take quite a bit of time to recreate it.
Is there a better way? Can I copy the report (using the same query) but add the filter on the report side?

So i have a union query pulling together about 3,000 records from other queries.
I arranged all the counts and data I need to fit onto one page, but the report is copying that page (minus the header) for each record in the union query. I'd much prefer a one page report rather than a 3,000 page report.
Why does it do that? All I want is a one page report, how can I make that happen?

Hi there
I am new to Microsoft access and I am currently exported an advanced revelation database in CSV format to access now because advanced revelation is a multivalue pick database I needed to create a the key for the multivalue fields which I have separated the data which is NI.
Now all the data is separated in order but the NI field only shows once then its blank going down till the next NI which is the next record this is due to to the multivalue fields data that has been separated.
How can I get access to copy the NI number down into the blanks slots till it reaches the next slot and then copy that one and so on in a loop once this is done I can use this as a key field and separate the data further..
Regards
Norman

Is is possible to copy queries, reports, modules, etc. from one database to another, and if so, how? I have some queries and reports in an inventory database I'd like to copy and use in another database without having to set them up or re-code them again.
Thanks,

Long time ago some computerdude made a database for my dad so he had a place for his customerinformation. When I open the file on his computer the file sort of "start" or "run" - there appears a little window where you can click buttons like "find customer", "remind me in two days" etc. That's how it always has worked and how it should work.
We have bought a new computer. We want a new database for me, where I can type my customers in the exact same way as in my dads access file. I have managed to import all the tables etc. without any data, BUT
I CAN'T GET THE DATABASE TO "RUN" OR "START" WHEN I OPEN THE ACESSFILE! HOW DO I GET THE LITTLE WINDOW WITH THE BUTTONS TO APPEAR IN THE SAME WAY AS ON MY DADS COMPUTER?
I only get the tables and the kind of "edit mode" when I open the program.I have tried to change the securitysettings, so access dosn't block any macros.

I have a customer who is concerned that their access database may be copied and used by a competitor. I have told him to set up passwrods for all users amd hide the system file which stores the password info so database won't open off site if copied. He doesn't want to do this though. Is there any other way, possibly by encrypting it?
Regards

Hi! I'm relatively new to Access (2003) . I had to modify a shared network app so I copied it off and renamed it, made my mods and everything is fine. I then went to another app that connects to the original app to obtain data for display and synchronization, modified the call to open the new app including the new mdw. When it hits the new mdw, it can't open it because it says it's being used exclusively or the workgroup file is missing. It's not being used exclusively and it doesn't appear to be missing. The network path is correct. If I use the mdw from the original source app, it works fine. Please advise! :(

I'm an Access idiot - please be kind :o
I made a little Access app for a friend, to do his invoices. Access wouldn't allow me to copy the db to a CD, but advised me to convert it to a Master. I followed all the instructions (honest!). Afterwards, I could burn his db to a CD and, on his computer, it opened but wouldn't allow edits or new records - not terribly helpful for an invoicing program
Since then I've tried creating a new admin in his name, re-setting all permissions, blah blah ... Basically, it looks like there is loads of help on securing a database but very little on un-securing it enough to be transferred to another PC!
The dang thing persists in allowing everything except edits & additions
I can't find out how to convert it back from a Master to ... what, a slave? :p
Even so, that wouldn't be the answer coz I'd be back at square1.
I use a PC running XP and Office 2003. My invoice-less friend has a PC with Win[NT]2000 and Office 2000. I converted the database to Access 2000. I am way out my depth here, but hoping you Access swimmers will be able to advise

How can I through VBA check to see if a report exists, if so, delete it and then copy another report and save it under the original name.
for example:
if the report "weekly stats" exists, delete it.
then copy (not rename) the "Weekly States Template" report to "Weekly Stats"
The reason I want to do it this way is that the report gets fields added dynamically each time it is run. I have not been able to have the report close without saving (automatically) and unfortunately, even though the user has been told to NOT save the report when prompted, they do. This would solve that problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

hi,
i made an attendance db for work and got it to work. i then copied it and made two more for years 2 and 3. Years 1 and 3 work perefectly but for some reason the year 2 db won't allow me to write the data.
this is driving me nuts as i have already spent a few hours putting the students in and their course selections. i've tried making the forms again and as soon as i use a joint sub form to get the students first name the problem occurs. i've looked at the properties of the forms and they allow edits etc..
if anyone is feeling kind and has a spare moment, could you let me know why it doesn't work.
cheers

I have a form with a duplicate record button to allow records to be copied. I used this code (I think from Allen Browne), but it only copies the last record in the recordset?
If Me.Dirty Then 'Save any changes
Me.Dirty = False
End If
If Me.NewRecord Then 'Check there is a record.
MsgBox "Select a record to duplicate"
[Code] .....

Need to track donations in two areas. Have one query that tracks them in location A and one that tracks them in location B. Same query, no other difference. Report made on location A is fine. Made a copy of it and based it on the 2nd query--and I get a pop-up "Enter Parameter Value" for Last Name. The Last Name field is not in the query or anywhere in the report that I can find.

I have tried searching this forum and other but not quite sure of the terminology so not getting good results.

:)Hello,
I have one Access table called plan_location where it contains the following columns: shape_id (number), seqnum (number), xcoord (number) and ycoord(number). The shape_id is a individual number for each planname, the seqnum is the number of points in the plan and the xcoord ycoord indicate the x,y location on the ground.
See example:
shape_idseqnumxcoordycoord
700609719.4294818231.424
701609745.694818251.119
702609755.9194818230.81
703609781.7674818243.946
704609822.6834818254.656
705609871.714818261.276
706609879.4324818226.623
707609814.9484818218.313
708609763.8424818198.827
709609730.0664818165.801
7010609698.2784818123.723
7011609668.3594818142.025
7012609714.9354818201.641
7013609729.6864818214.026
7014609720.4294818240.424
In the above example, although this is only one plan of thousands, the xcoord/ycoord value for seqnum=0 is not the same as the xcoord/ycoord value found in seqnum=14, thus this indicates an error.
I need to find a way to isolate those shape_id's with the beginning seqnum of 0 that is not the same as the highest seqnum of 14, in this case. The seqnum can range from 0 to any number, depending on the number of points.
If the seqnum of 0's xcoord/ ycoord values to NOT match the highest seqnum's xcoord/ycoord values, I need to find a way to insert the next highest seqnum and add the same xcoord/ycoord values found for seqnum = 0
How can this be done?
Thanks in advance..........CementCarver:confused:
Not sure how this is done..............

Hi All.
This may be a bit of a strange one, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
I would like to create a db which is a bit like the directions bit of multimap.co.uk
As per the attached jpg, i would like a db so I can input a starting box and end box, and it would tell me the shortest distance, longest distance, route via boxes etc.
e.g
Box A as start and Box F as end. Shortest route is via Box D, longest route via boxes B and C etc.
The db would obviously not for measuring distances between boxes!!!....but thought this may explain it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Frank.

Not sure what this covers so if someone could point me in the right direction, so I can get started.
I want to do a search of customers through a button on a form with names, and there you get a list of customer that match your criteria. When you click or double click on that customer you get sent to the main form with all the customer details on it.
thx

Hello all,
I am currently working on an sql query to find employees which handled more orders than average in a certain half year. For arguments sake the half year is august-dec1997. I will use two queries, one to calculate COUNT and one for the avg:
So far I have the COUNT query sorted:
SELECT Employees.EmployeeID, Count(Orders.EmployeeID) AS CountOfOrders
FROM Employees, Orders
WHERE (((Employees.EmployeeID)=[Orders].[EmployeeID]))
GROUP BY Employees.EmployeeID;
However, I am uncertain how to proceed from here and find the >AVG part of this query. Any help would be appreciated- thankyou :o
To add to this I think the next table should be like this:
SELECT qrycountOfOrders.EmployeeID, Employees.FirstName, Employees.LastName, qrycountOfOrders.CountOfOrders,
WHERE
FROM qrycountOfOrders, Employees
WHERE qrycountOfOrders.EmployeeID = Employees.EmployeeID;
But I am unsure where to put the >=AVG...

My Access DB is built and works great. All problems that I have seem to revolve around the 2 tables that I link to Excel spreadsheets. The spreadsheets come from downloads. The problems are:
Can't format fields in a linked table. and the download comes unformatted.
Can't make DB Multi-User because the Linked Spreadsheets restrict access to more than one user at a time.
Is it possible (Practical) to build a macro that would access the spreadsheet on a regular basis and import it (Overwriting the previous data in the table) into Access?
I would really appreciate anyone that has a solution. I am ready to pull out the last 3 hairs I have on my head.

Dont use access much but I have basic db dev. skills. That said, here's my dillema:
I have a front desk entry form fro service calls. There is a entry field for customerID. I would like to auto populate f_name, l_name etc... from just entering customerID. I know what I would do in an SQL situation, but how does that transfer over to access? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hello,
I have a lot of values that look like this: 0.524, 0.673, and 0.398. I hate to look at these numbers with the zero before the decimal point and would like to find out how to remove them. I know that it's possible in Excel, but I'm not sure of how to do it in Access.
Is this possible?
Thanks
