Does anyone have a good easy sugestion on how to distribute a db with access runtime in a package to users without access 2003?
I have tried setup2go and it makes a fine .exe file.
But I can't make the package with access runtime.

Front End Updates And Distribution To Users

I split my db last week and put both front end and back end files in a shared network folder. I backup the db every day to a different folder on the network server and also to my laptop. I usually backup right after a form update so that the latest version of the form is available to users who want to update their local copy of the front end. I've been sending email alerts to the users.
My question is this: What is the best way to (1) make sure my backup updates the front end on the network server and (2) how can I automatically alert users to update to the latest version of the front end?

Problems Converting To Runtime Version

I am currently trying to package and deploy my database as a runtime version, but am getting runtime errors when I open the installed database and I have no idea where to start with what the problems are! There does not seem to be much info that I can find on the web to help me. I am using DAO, Excel, and Word object references.I noticed on my main switchboard when I removed the more complicated code then there was no error.If anyone has any pointers or are able to point me in the right direction that would be muchly appreciated.

Access 2003 Runtime Version And Shortcut Menus
Mar 14, 2006I have developed an application and packed it into a runtime version.
However, in the runtime version the shortcut menus do not work. The reason why I want the user to have that possibility is that the application has two hyperlink fields and it is much easier for the users to be able to browse to the documents instead of typing each link with all the errors that might give as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Forms :: Application Running In Full Version But Not In Runtime?
Apr 11, 2014I have a small database application which is split in fe and be. Its running fine and i have been making changes to the front end regularly and replacing the file on server successfully with no problems, But today i edited some forms and reports and afterwards i ran it on a client in access runtime produced the on click event error ( which is on log in form which is a startup form ). Its working fine in full version of access even on the server but couldn't log in because the clicking on login button display the error. See attached image.

Back-end for all the data.
Front end for all the forms and queries.
The front end has been saved in a accde format and distributed to 20+ users. They have all saved this onto there computers and this is used as an application.The users complete a form on a weekly basis on the application and then save. This then saves into the back end.For some reason I have noticed that a few users submission randomly do not save. For the life of me I cannot understand why.All users have saved them into the back end in the past but every now and then submission for users do not save.
General :: Batch File To Allow Users To Copy Latest Version Of Front End Whenever Change Made
Aug 7, 2014I have been trying to set up a batch file to allow users to copy the latest version of the front end whenever a change is made. The following is the code that I am trying to get to work properly. The first part works fine, the old front end is copied to a folder on the user's desktop as a backup. But I cannot get the copy of the server - the "P" drive, to overwrite the current copy on the user's desktop. Actually I cannot get the code to copy the new front end from the server and install it on the user's desktop. I think the path is correct for I seem to be able to run the new front end from the server.
When I look for the location on my computer, the server locations is listed as:
General (Servernamefiles) (P: ) (there is no space after the P: it seems to result in a smiley face when I type it and try to post it).

Distribute DB To Many Servers
Jul 7, 2005I have developed a db (A2K) which will be distibuted through our companies franchising system to various licensees. These licensees generally operate in a single PC environment but occasionally they will be based on a server network. The single user is fine but I am stumped by the server situation as it impacts on the various links I have set up within the database to files etc that are part of the program but are external such as Excel, Word files. The current links are all set up as C:MainFolderNameFilename. Of course these all stop working when I place it on a server and link the users up via shortcuts. On our own installation I changed the links to the \MyServerMainFolderNameFilename format and everythings fine but due to the number of links this is a fairly lengthy process and I wouldn't want to have to repeat it at every clients installation.
Can any one please advise me if there is a way to set it up so that I could say enter the clients server name in a field. Then insert that field's contents into the pathway details for the links so that they all update automatically.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Best Way To Distribute Application

I've designed a main form that contains 3 subforms that queries information from raw data. Now that the database is complete, i'm looking for the best way to distribute it. I've tried to put it on the network drive, but it has been rediculoursly slow. Could somebody tell me what would be the best way to do this? Thanks!

Cannot Distribute Database To Other Computers
May 26, 2006I created the database on my computer. I added security and split the database to put the tables on the the server. Everything works just fine on my computer. However, when I try to copy the 3 files for the front end of the database to other computers on the network, it won't work.
Perhaps I'm confused as to what files need to be migrated to each additional computer or I don't have the security setup properly.
Right now, I move 3 files. The main database file with the front end. The shortcut file that is created when you add security and the security file that is created when you add security to the database.
I'm stumped.
Distribute Row Information To Columns
Jun 18, 2012I have a Query with many part numbers in column A and their inventory location(s) listed in column B. However, some part numbers are listed 2 or 3 times because the item is located in multiple inventory locations. How can I take these items and put list their inventory locations in multiple columns across one row?
What I have:

I want to distribute the front end to all users however I want to limit to the best I can what they can do to it. Can someone please advise me on the best way to wrap up and send out my front ends?
All security has been established. I am talking about the availability to see the tables, macros, control bars etc..
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have just about finished up a Split DB that I plan on deploying in a LAN environment. The goal of course is to turn what looks like an Access Application now into a non-access looking application where the Front End can be distributed and run on any computer within the LAN.
I have several questions that I may need some help on.
How does one go about hiding the Access Shell and/or Ribbon/Nav in 2007?
How would I add a form that allows for a user to navigate to and connect to the back-end without having them check all of the appropiate tables and then browse to the back-end file if they have a different drive letter mapped to the location of the back-end files for example?
Any tips on how to sign the DB so the pesky Trust Center question can be bypassed?
Any other tips on how to simply distribute this for a LAN environment and/or make it look NOT like an Access DB with access to view the Forms, Tables, Queries, etc. This is my first Access DB project, let alone a LAN distributable one.

Jul 31, 2013I have multiple databases (Front-end, Back-end, Import, Reporting) which enables auditors in our company to audit loans.
I use an Import database which imports a random sample of loans (10%) into the Back End database for audit. I import a spreadsheet of loans (let's say 5000 loans) into the Import database, and I have the query return 10% of the loans, which is then imported into our Back-end database for audit (500 loans for audit).
Currently the auditors look at the daily list of loans (the 500 imported loans) and divide the work amongst themselves (5 auditors will audit 100 loans each.) They decide Bob will do 1-100; Joe will do 101-200; Bill will do 201-300; etc.
Is there a way using a query to assign these loans to specific auditors when importing the loans into the BE for audit? I would need to enter how many auditors will be working the loans so the work is divided evenly, and then enter the auditor's initials. (Since the auditors perform different audits, I would like the ability to select or key in auditor initials when importing the loans..
Tables :: Suitable Table Structure To Distribute Payments Among Different Bank Accounts
Aug 17, 2015Looking for efficient table structure for this. Let's say I have a list of contractors who will get paid a certain amount of money each week. The amount of money changes each week by measuring the amount of work done, giving it a price and calculating it. The fields are these:

Total=Qty*UnitPrice (not stored in this table)

So far, it's all good, but we wish to pay the contractors in an unusual way. Let's say he makes $16,000 of work this week, and we want to pay him using cash AND/OR either one or multiple debit cards. For example:
Cash: $1,500
Debit card 45: $7,500
Debit card 71: $4,000
Debit card 13: $3,000
Total = $ 16,000
We can only deposit $7,500 max in each card. But it's even worse... two or more contractors can SHARE the card and it's not always the same card. Sounds pretty funky, but it's what the company wants to do. So, what would you recommend me in this case?
I'm guessing I'm gonna need these tables: tbWeeks to hold the week number, tbCards to store the cards' info, and an extra table to make a many to many relationship between the cards and the employees.

Jan 4, 2006* I have a form that has a list box at the bottom of the form and all the fields (text boxes) displayed above.
* As I select a record in the List Box it shows that record in the text boxes above and allows the user to edit that specific record.
* I went one step futher and created drop down boxes out of the TextBoxes, which now reference a lookup table.
* Although the users have a drop down box they can still enter a new entry.
My problem is that I want the lookup table to be updated with any new entrys that do not exist in the lookup table. I had this working at one point but cannot remember how or what I did.
Any thoughts?

Another thing my database has to be setup for is updates, Roughly 30 people will be using this database and to have them re-copy and paste the new database releases is out of the questions.
Does anyone have experience setting up code that automatically checks the version of the database created and if it differs downloads/installs the new version and the restarts the database so the associate will then be working in the current version?
I am looking to be pointed in the right direction to get this figured out, thanks.

Have a bit of an odd problem with the DB im using at work. I have 1 DB on a shared drive that is accessed by 4 of us from our desktop PC's (password protected via 1 password that we all use - no separate logins).
The problem comes that we make changes to the data, exit via an exit button that uses a save all macro (that all works fine), however when we go back into to DB there are some times that the changes made have been lost and the data has reverted back to the previous version. There doesn't seem to be any specific pattern to this, it happens at random times and to random people.
Does anyone know what may be causing this, or anyway that i can prevent it happening?

Storing Updates?

I have a database that stores customer records and their associated insurance details. I need to be able to track any changes made to that record within a set time period ie if details are changed fine it is reported next time report is run. But if details are changed more than once in between reports then first detail change is lost.
I would like to work out a way that changes can be written to a ??seperate version of the table?? and stored in there to be reported seperately and not just the final change as is the snapshot nature of a report? Is this possible? Could I possible make another version of the main table appended onto it? I feel I 'know' what I need to do but not how to even begin it! Any help would be appreciated.
