How To Link Images With Photo Editor In Access 2003?

Mar 22, 2007

I am setting up a database with an image linked to each record. I have installed Photo Editor as required to display jpeg files. However, when I try to insert object in the table field, Photo Editor does not appear as an option under 'Object Type'. How can I use Photo Editor as my OLE server to display jpegs? Or, can someone suggest a better way to display images on forms? I'm a newbie, so although I'll try more advanced programming if required, I will need quite detailed step-by-step instructions :)

Thanks!

Dymo Labeller Link To Access 2003 MDB

Jun 21, 2006

I am using a networked database built by somebody else. I have added a networked DYMO labeller which runs via a simple report in Access 2003.

The probelm I am having is that the default label type I specified in the report (30321) keeps changing, it will change intermitantly and to any available Dymo label listed in the paper size. Nobody else has access to the reports to change it.

One day I come in and the label has changed to a Video Top (30326) label the next day it is a File Folder (30330) label.....the Dymo is having no probelm in any other applications and it doesnt seem to be a probelm in any of the databases I have built which are also networked.

Any ideas would be appreciated....getting sick of wasting labels and resetting the default all the time.

How Do I Link Images To A Folder?

Mar 30, 2005

Hi there.....

I have a minor problem......if anyone could help me on this one, would be much appreciated.

I have a field "OLE Object".

Great!

BUT!! .......I want to be able to LINK my products to pictures from a file.

IE:
Product 1 = AB1.jpg
Product 2 = AB2.jpg

Both images are in C:/images

So...product ID1 is linked to image AB1.jpg...product ID2 is linked to AB2.jpg.

The images must also appear as images in the FORM.

Any ideas on how I can do this ?

Thanks in advance.

Multiple Sql Statements In Access Sql Editor

Jun 8, 2005

I would like to update a lot of fields in my tables; about 120 different fields in 12 different tables. I would however like to keep it simple by using the SQL editor in MS Access by writing all the UPDATE queries and leave them to run while I do smething else. It seems to me however that you can only run one query at a time using the SQL editor. I thought I could separate one SQL editor from the other by using semicolon as in Oracle SQL editor etc., but that does not seem to work. Does anybody know how to do this in Access without writing a VBA code etc.?

Link Images! Great! Some Questions For The Experts.

Jul 24, 2006

My friends,

I am trying as hard as I can to learn Access. I am developing a database for my signage design business. I've been at it for about 5 days already. I know this question would be a piece of cake for the experts in this forum.

When one of my artists finishes with an artwork, he will save this as a jpeg file. I want him to upload it to the database via a form.

1. I would like to come up with a command button that, when clicked, will open a browser on the users remote computer and enables him to find the file to upload.

2. When this file uploads, I want it to be saved in another directory, outside the db, and then linked to a field within the db.

3. And I want this feature also for mp3 files.

Can any one help with this?

VB Editor And Mouse Wheel

Nov 7, 2005

Hello to all,

Just something I hate and been frustrated about and would like to know whether it can be solved. I don't know about your PC but my mouse's wheel does not work in the Visual Basic Editor. This applies to all Office apps.

When I scroll the wheel, nothing moves. It works great in other apps, though, such as Explorers, ....

Is it something that was meant at designed or am I missing something here?

Thank you all in advance.

Autocomplete In Code Editor

Aug 22, 2006

I'm not sure what you call it but I call it auto-complete; the functionality that gives you a list of methods/commands when you are typing something like Me.Forms. When you type the Me. after the . it will bring up a list for you to see what you can do from there. That works fine for me but when I do the following: "CoCmd." the list will popup for a brief moment (much less than half of a second) which does not let me view the possible methods. Is this normal? If not does anybody have any idea how I might be able to fix it short of reinstalling MS Office (that is NOT an option).
Thanks,
Aaron

I wasn't sure if it should go in this section or the VB section. I apologize if it is in the wrong section.

MsgBox In VBA Editor Not Popping Up

Sep 16, 2011

I have a form with a combo box and a button, which when clicked, opens a report based on the option selected in the combo box. For this, in the event procedure of the button click, how do I code it so that if no option is selected in the combo box and the button is clicked, it should display a 'message' as a pop up. I know I should use the MsgBox option but I seem to be going wrong with the If loops. I doubt I am positioning the MsgBox command in the wrong place in the code below, as it does not pop up the msg box as I desire. Heres the code:

Private Sub btnMarket_Click()
If Me.Combo0 <> "" And Not IsNull(Me.Combo0) Then
Dim s As String
s = "1=1"

Images In Access, Possible?

Oct 12, 2005

Is it possible to efficiently store images in an Access database without having to install custom COM files and the like on your server?

I know it's possible to store them using OLE objects but I've heard this adds a significant amount of data to the image when storing. Is this correct?

Does anyone know how I could get around this?
I'm interfacing the DB via the web, unfortunately I have to use an access DB for the task and can't tinker with the server.

Many Thanks,
Richard

Storing Images In Access

Feb 24, 2005

Which is a more robust approach when designing an Access database in regards to storing images, such as TIFFs. Is it better to store the images in each data record as necessary or is it better to just store a path in the database that points to a location of where the image resides (on a hard drive somewhere for instance.)

Someone also sent me an access db, i'd like to reuse the buttons (same bitmap images: edit, delete) from this access db. Where do i go to extract the images?

Storing Links To Images In MS Access Tables

Sep 24, 2004

I have an application in MS Access that contains some forms and reports. I want to be able to show pictures on the forms. So I am saving images on file system and storing links to those images in MS Access tables so that they can be retrieved and be shown on the forms. Can someone throw light on the effects of this approach on performance of the application (especially vis-a-vis the approach of storing images in the Access tables as OLE objects)?

Would appreciate if responses can be directed to my email-id Satya_Nadiminti@infosys.com

Problem Displaying JPEG Images Stored In Access DB

Aug 12, 2005

It may seem a really silly question but is there any restrictions as to the file types that can be stored in an Access DB.

I havent used Access in a while, but have been asked by a friend to create a simple DB holding info about cars he is selling, he only wants to hold thumbnail images of the cars so I can either link or embed the pics! However if I try to link or embed a jpeg image nothing appears in the bound object frame except for the image title i.e. bmw325i.jpg if I do exactly the same with a bitmap image the pic is displayed???

The only other difference I have noticed is that in table view of the relevant table a bitmap appears as Bitmap Image whereas a JPEG appears as Package????

Any ideas

Thanks in advance

Locking User Access To Database Objects (MS Access 2000 And 2003)

Apr 15, 2007

I have two database applications and they are:
- the (A) application is for administration use.
- the (B) application is for normal users use.

the idea is that: I made the (A) application for administrators who have full control over the database objects (tables, forms, queries, and so on ...).

the (B) application I have created for normal users who will have only to use forms to insert some data and display data only.

but the two applications has a respective table called "vacation request" table. where I linked them, so the both administrators and users can share the data.

The real question is that: How can I prevent the users from seeing the database objects in their application. I used the database options which have helped me in hidding the database objectives when the users open the application, but unfortunately they managed to access to the database objects by pressing the special keys.

I would like to have an access to the (B) application when I want to make some modifications to the forms and then lock it from users where they only have to use the forms for requesting vacations and view the vacations.

Forms :: Multi Select Listbox Access 2003 Code Gives Syntax Error In MS Access 2010

I've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. My code is:

On Error GoTo Err_Command151_Click

' Declare variables

Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef
Dim varItem As Variant

Dim strSQL As String

qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK WHERE
qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK.Rep ortableName IN('Adbri
Masonry NSW');'

Table Problems Moving From Access 2003 -> Access 2007

Jun 19, 2007

Attached is a screenshot of the relationships in a database I built a couple of years ago. It's worked absolutely fine in Access 2003 and currently has over 18,000 customers with associated information in it.

However, when I open the database in Access 2007 the performance is awful. All the forms are very slow to respond when tabbing between form elements. I've experimented by reducing the number of form elements calling on related data on a given page and whilst this improves performance it reduces usability - something I don't want to compromise on especially since Access 2007 should be able to cope with this.

My next question is therefore whether I've got the most efficient underlying table design and I can't see any other way of doing it than my current method so I'd be grateful for any feedback or advice anyone has.
