I'm trying to make a Navigation form for end users that can open a datasheet from a control button on another datasheet. I've got that but when you click on the control button in the first datasheet to bring up the second datasheet the second datasheet comes up like the normal datasheet view in access, not in my navigation form. Is there a way to make it come up in the navigation form? Or maybe I'm going about this the wrong way.
View RepliesWell, I couldn't find this using the search, so here it goes:I have a form in which I enter data to create a new client. Within that form I have a subform in datasheetview which is based on a query which holds/retrieves certain (important) fields from a table that holds case info. So in that one view the client data is displayed on the form and all cases and the most important data from those cases is displayed nicely in one screen.Now, when a client calls I navigate to that client and see all previous and all current cases that are open and/or closed for this customer. So the customer says case this and that number is the case I need to discuss with you. Now, what I would like is to be able to click or double click anywhere on the line that, for instance, says case nr 55, so that the form(s) belonging to case nr 55 pop up and all info concerning that case is displayed and can be edited as needed. My problem is: I'm still a newbie and if it was a simple thing like using the on_click event to open the form that's needed, I would not have to post this question. But that can't be done (as far as I know) since the subform is based on a query which is displayed in dataview.Am I overlooking a very simple solution to this problem or is it really going to be as difficult as I think it's going to be?For clarification of the idea I have included a screenshot of the form in question. I assume there are tons of databases out there which use such a layout or idea as this one. Please, never mind the buttons etc. It is still a work in progress. ;)

Is there a way to have a datasheet open with the last record at the bottom of the page? I now have it opening to the last record, but it has the last record at the top and can't see the records before it without scrolling.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen you open a form in datasheet view, the default ribbon is of course the "Datasheet" tab. I would rather have the "Home" tab ribbon open up, because I have one field in this form set up as hyperlinks to open another form, so the filter and search buttons would be more useful to the user. I'd rather not go to the trouble to create a custom ribbon, so is there anyway to set the default ribbon tab to "Home" when you load the form? There is a ribbon property for the form, but I don't know the reference name for the tab.

I have set the Macro to OpenForm, View Datasheet then GoToRecord, Record New..Works perfectly, but it does open the form and fill the screen with records, putting focus on the "new" record at the bottom of the form. Is there a way to set it to open this form, but only display say last 10 records and then focus on "new" record.
I am trying to add a command button to my main menu to open the contact names as a datasheet, I have changed the properties on the contact names form to datasheet as well as changing the properties on the button to the below:

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Project form, which holds StockArtProduction_Subform in datasheet view. I need for them to be able to click on the ID in the StockArtProduction_Subform datasheet and it open a single view form (StockArtProduction) with the correlating ID.
Ideally, it would also work for new entries in the StockArtProduction_Subform, but the StockArtProduction form would have to "auto populate" (did I use it right?) with the ID of the currently open Project form.
I have a form "IntUnderwriterSearchByName" which is based on the query "Search by Name". This form opens with a parameter (please enter name of broker) and is set out like a datasheet with the following fields- "Broker Name", "Domicile", "Broker Code" and a couple of others. I'd like to be able to click on a record and open the form "IntUnderwriterPopUp" so that the details of that specified record are displayed.
Broker Code is what I'd like the form to look for and this Broker Code is unique for every one of the 900 or so records. This code can be numerical e.g. 01233 but also can be a mixture of both e.g. EU2885. It is also worth noting that this code is not the primary key- i have an autonumber (called ID) that does this- but this field does not appear on the form.

Is there a way to make a Form Datasheet (including calculated cells) update the corresponding Table Datasheet?
I have a report based on a query that has data for many dates. At the moment I have put a specific date in the criteria of the query so that I could build the report format. So it now displays all the data for the date i have in the criteria section. I will need to run this report several times per week so the specified date (and corresponding data in the report) will need to be changed to a new date when I open the report i.e. when I open my report I want to show data in the report only for a specified date.
Can I create a date parameter box open up when I open the report? Can I create a form with a button that when I click will open the report displaying data for that date? What would be the best way?I also need to display the specified date on the report.
Problem:
Visual Basic run-time error 7792: You can't open a subform when it is also open in Design view.
I have a subform with properties for SourceObject, LinkMasterFields, LinkChildFields changing according to objects and events in the master form.
The subform was bound to a query before which meant that the subform load event was happening as soon as the master form is loaded. I needed to restrict the subform loading until a certain point so I removed the SourceObject property for the masterform's subform. The subform on the master form is now Unbound.
(This is because I'm now running some code on the FormLoad event for the subform which needs to be restricted until the LinkMasterFields and LinkChild Fields properties have been assigned correctly otherwise it takes ages to load.)
Now I'm getting the above error. Obviously, i do not have the subform open anywhere in design view. No Visual Basic windows are open. I've closed the db, closed access, reopened it and clicked on nothing except the masterform. The error occurs when I raise the event in the master form which assigns the sourceobject property to the subform, i.e.
Me.sfmQryAllOV.SourceObject = "sfmQryAllOV"
Can anyone help me? I've googled this but finding no answers.
when i open a form i want to open another frm at the same time. i have a main form with some buttons in it. when i click on a button and a form opens then i am not able to click on a button to open other forms from the main form.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have a button that opens a report. the report pulls from a query that has parameters set to "fromdate" and "todate". instead of using dates and parameters that pop up as blank text boxes, I would like to click the button, have a form pop up with a combo box to select all of the options available (currently 23 options) and then click a button to make a report that only displays the record (1-23) selected. I do not need any time constraints because as the databases get updated with more records, there would be more than 23 options to choose from.

I have one button that launches another form. The default view of the form is supposed to be in ‘datasheet’ view. However when I click the button it opens in ‘single form’ view.

Well this is a new on for me, the idea is this.
By using a datasheet view in a subform and a custom popup menu I can allow users to filter down to the records they wish to view, in whatever order they want, and then allow them to open/edit said records with a Double-Click Event.
Fact is there are so many ways that different departments wish to filter this works in theory and in a sample I have created. A search or filter form would be huge. This seems simpler.
Ok, all good in theory, I can restrict “new” and “edit” etc, but I can just see users resizing the datasheet view to something only brain dead users could do or hiding columns. <SHUDDER>
So my question is, can or is there some why that I can use the OnOpen or OnLoad event to re-size the datasheet to a default size? (Well the fields in the datasheet mainly) This would allow you average bi-polar user to mess and re-size until their coffee mugs run out and the next user doesn’t get left a mess. (Which would then force them to ring me!) <SHUDDER>
I hope this makes sense, I really hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Exporting datasheet to word, how is this possible using vb. Actually, I do have a thread in Form forum. But, I think not a lot of people visit that place. Anyways, I have created bookmarked and used datavariable to export the data (by ansentry's help). But the only thing that it exports is just one selection on that datasheet, instead of all the chosen rows.
I am exhausted now after searching everywhere, and not finding a clue. How to resolve that situation. If there is an example that I can use, that would be gr8.

I have subforms that are datasheet view, if the user rearranges the coloumns, or resizes etc , I would like to save what they have done so it is as they left it next time they open up the screen.
This works fine with an mdb (all my forms are set to close acsaveNo).
However in an mde this doesn't work.
Can I get this to happen in and mde.
(A button that saves a layout change would be fine for my purpose)

i never needed help this much.
i worked on an access application for 1/2 year. Everything went fine. But now we wanted to start working with it, some older acces versions are acting weird.
I have a form that contains a subform datasheet, and the datasheet has a datasheetsubform aswell.
This works fine in 2003. De datasheet is displayed, and when you click on the plus, the other datasheet opens in the maindatasheet.
But in 2000, you dont see the plusjes.
It is a major issue that i fix that! can some help me to solve this?

I have a form and a datasheet subform in Access. A form has person info and datasheet subform has 4 fields: QuestionID, QuestionNumber, QuestionName and Answer fields. The Answer field is a dropdown field and has 3 items: Yes, No and N/A. If QuestionNumber from 3 to 6 the answer was Yes or No then lock the Answer field in Question 7. Any idea how to do it?
