Hi All,
I need to export an access table to text file automatically. It would be helpful if this could be done by some commands or a batch file etc..

I have 60 access tables. I need to export the data to one single text file (if not possible I dont have problem in exporting to 60 different text files).

This needs to be done daily. So I need a faster way. I cannot use any softwares since I dont have any budget for that. But If there is any source codes I could Look at it would be more helpful.

Export Text File From Access

Nov 9, 2004

I am trying to export a text file from access. I know how to do it using the export wizard and it pretty much works with my VB code except 1 thing. I need the header column exported as well. There is a check box to include that in your export while using the wizard. When I save the specs and do it using the VB code everything works except it does not include the header row which I need. Is there a way to include this row without having to go through the wizard?

Here is my current code that works(except the header).
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, "Amazon Spec", _
"Amazon SQL Export Query", "C:Documents and SettingspctesterMy DocumentsAmazonMorningside.txt"

Importing A Text File Into Access Table

Jun 13, 2006

Hi,

I have a text file with comma separated values. What I want is a single access query to import this text file into an access table. I know this can be done through import text wizard in access - but what I need is a single query.
I have done the same thing for transferring oracle data to an access table - but for text file to access, I am getting -7778 error.

This is the query I have written
SELECT * into MY_ACCESS_TBL from [odbc;Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};Dbq=MY_TEXT_FILE_PATH;].[MY_TEXT_FILE.txt];

Please help!!

Regards,
Suneesh

Modules & VBA :: Access - Read From Text File

Nov 5, 2013

I have a text file that I am using VBA to read and print 2 pieces of data to another text file. The code works to a point, in some instances it does not appear to find the end of file but captures and writes all the data. Or, after printing 36 lines correctly, it then stops writing.

I have stepped through the code and it appears to be capturing the data up past this issue but for what ever reason it does not print it to my text file.

PHP Code:

Option Compare DatabaseOption Explicit    Public Mode As String    Public FUNDREF As String
Public rst As String Function DAILYAUDITTRAIL()     Close #1    Close #2      Open "C:UsersTEST IN.TXT" For Input As #1
Open "C:UsersTEST OUT.txt" For Output As # 2      Do While Not EOF(1)
Line Input #1, rst     If rst Like "KM56Aasdf*" Then        FUNDFINDER
End If     Loop  End FunctionFunction FUNDFINDER()

Using BULK INSERT To Load A Text File To MS Access

Aug 2, 2006

Hi All
I hope someone in this forum can help me with this databse issue:
I want to load text file to .mdb MS access file.
I understand that BULK INSERT is possible only when using SQL Server database - not MS Access like I do.
Can someone advice what can be done ?
Can you think of an alternate solution, which is also effective (not inserting each record one by one) ?
BTW - I'm using ADO on visual studio 6 in order to access the database (not ADO.NET).

Thanks

Modules & VBA :: Import Complex Text File Into Access

Jul 19, 2014

They are receiving e-mail with some data that they want to transfer to access database to track. The one think they can do is copy past, copy paste. That is a lot of data to copy and paste. The date looks like this format

Field1
Text1

Field2
Text2 (text2 can be more than 255 char)

Field3
Text3 (text3 can be more than 255 char)

Field4
Text4

Field1
Text1

Field2
Text2 (text2 can be more than 255 char)

Field3
Text3 (text3 can be more than 255 char)

Field4
Text4

and so on.. It can be 50 records

I am thinking they can copy this to the text file. Then the code form Access grabs the text file and imports to access table with format below.

Field1 Fied2 Field3 Field4
Text1 Text2 Text3 Text4

Exporting From Access 2007 As Fixed Width Text File

Apr 23, 2008

Hi,

I am trying to export a query from an Access 2007 database into a fixed width text file, to import into a statistical program. The query is a simple select query from one table, selecting 5 columns. I am using a specification to set the width of each of the fields (image attached). The problem is with the first field in the table which is a long integer field. I want to set it as a fixed width of 4 characters, but every time it exports it sets the width as 11 characters. I have tried exporting from the original table, changing the data type but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Laura

Modules & VBA :: Attempting To Import Tab Delimited Text File With 274 Columns Into 2 Access Tables

Aug 2, 2013

I'm trying to import a text file with 273 fields into two tables. I've been able to do this with the code I found on an old thread and I'm now trying to accomplish everything with one step. The file I'm importing is tab delimited text file. With this current code I'm only able to populate the first record in the table and then I get error message. (Run-time error '3265') (Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the reqested name or ordinal).

Code:

Public Sub ImportTextFile()
' to use the ADODB.Recordset, be sure you have a reference set to ADO
Dim rst As ADODb.Recordset
Dim rst2 As ADODb.Recordset
Dim strFile As String
Dim strInput As String

Form Data Output To Text File

Jul 25, 2005

 I've created a form within our company database which will track hardware/software requests. I'd like to create a macro, or add code to output the data entered into a notepad file. Nothing extraordinary. I'd like for it to be like this:

Ticket: XXXXX
Employee: xxxxx
Reason for Request: xxxxx
Quantity:xxxxx
Part Number:xxxxx
Price:xxxxx
Shipping:xxxxx
Total:xxxxx

Those are the headings of the fields and x's denote entered data. I'd like to keep the headers and have the entered data as well. Is it possible?

Thanks to all for your help

General :: Create A Button On Form To Convert Data To Text File Template

Jul 14, 2015

I'm currently working on a project within access which will allow users to select/input information in a form which will then save to the database.

What I need is to create a button on the form which will allow you to convert the data collected from the form to a custom text file template.

(Or maybe the last row added to the database. - although this may cause errors. Example: the form information doesn't save which will in turn create a text file with the data collected from the previous job)

The custom text file template should have a sentence description followed by the value recorded from the form.

Example:

1 configuration type: (data from form)

2 model type: (data from form)

3 Poc: (data from form)

And so on.

So in summary - I would be to use the form to collect the desired information which will save to the database.

Once actioned, a custom text file should be populated with the collected information (with specific data placement as per the example above)....

Forms :: Open A Form For Saving Results Of Query To A Text File On Desktop

May 6, 2015

I have a BE database, that when opened, opens a form for saving the results of a query to a text file on the desktop. It works fine, if the full path is entered.

The problem is, I want this saved on any users' desktop. I did some digging and found the %userprofile% variable, which when used, gives me the error.

I understand this should work in both Windows XP and Windows 7, which are the environments the full DB will operate in. So far the "EXPORT" button on the form has the following for the code:

Code:
Private Sub BTN_Export_Click()
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, , "QRY_ExportPublicComment", "C:UsersMark N. McAllisterDesktopPubComExp.txt"
End Sub

When I tried this:

Code:
Private Sub BTN_Export_Click()
Dim strPath As String
strPath ="%userprofile%desktopPubComExp.txt"
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, , "QRY_ExportPublicComment", strPath
End Sub

the error occurs.

Text File To MS Excel Multiple File Import Application

Jul 20, 2006

hello,

I would like to automate something presently done on a one-by-one basis. Here: a number of text files(containing data) are to be exported into an MS Excel file, with each text file to occupy a different worksheet. Presently, the idea is to use the Data/import external data/import data feature of MS Excel for importing the text files one-by-one into newly created worksheets(within the same workbook).

I would appreciate some advice on how to go about creating a useful MS Access application to achieve the above. I have checked the available Macros in MS Access, but I could not find one to suit my purpose. can anyone pls assist, on how I can get started?

Modules & VBA :: How To Append Text To A Text File With The Print Statement

Jun 5, 2013

I'm trying to figure out at what point an error message occurs while a database is closing. This problem only occurs if someone clicks on the red close button on the top right of the screen when there are several forms open. If the user exists normally there is NO problem.

I am attempting to use the print statement to write to a text file to track what is happening as the database shuts down. Unfortunately, the open (print) statement, when issued, zaps any prior contents which precludes having a full printed record. I am hoping for a print syntax that would allow appending.

Code:
Open "ErrorReport.txt" for Output as #1
Appended text to the file to show what is happening in that event.
Close #1

The program, in closing, does stop with an error message that a certain file can't be found. But when I click on debug, the program simply closes. I have also commented out VBA references to the file that can't be found, but the error still persists .
