I need help with something (i attached a database).
I need to run a report based on user's options so i created a form. There are two comboboxes and 2 checkboxes on the form. If the checkbox is checked i want to consider the choice of the user on the particular combobox. If no, to ignore that column.
The second problem is when the user choose "no choice" i want the query to run for all choices without filtering the combobox.
I am trying to filter a report based on two user inputted dates, but can't seem to figure it out. I've played around with quotation marks, and # but can't seem to figure the syntax out.
Code: Me.OrderBy = "Date Submitted" Me.OrderByOn = True Dim Date1 As Date Dim Date2 As Date Date1 = UserInput Date2 = UserInput DoCmd.ApplyFilter WhereCondition:="[Date Submitted] > Date1 and < Date2"
I have the following project that works as a timesheet manager:
Users enter in a form the employee name/date/hours worked/role/overtime (yes or no)/rate... on a daily basis. At the end of every week, they must create a report depending on the dates given in a query.
I have only one table (tbl_EmployeeHours) and a query to calculate the number of hours between two dates.
At the moment a report gives me all the information above (employee name/date hours worked etc..) but what I am trying to is a bit different.
I need Access to create a report (based on a date range given by the user) that would give me: per unique name, the number of normal hours worked in total, next column, the number of hours worked as overtime (rate 1.5), then, the number of hours worked as overtime (rate 2).
This means there are 3 different totals. For example, in the date range given, someone might appear twice but in the report he will appear only once with 3 different totals...
My guess:
I would say I need to create a different query for the 3 different totals (normal hours, overtime 1.5 and overtime 2). For each query you would need to ask the user to input the date range (which would not be so user-friendly I agree...). Then, I am not sure how access would create that list of names and combine the 3 different results from the queries...?
I'm trying to make a report that a untrained user can use to review the relevant data from the database I'm creating. All of the work I've done so far has been directly in the tables . Here's a quick outline of my general data organization:
Basically, I want the user to select a department to view using a combo box or option group (which I'm not sure of how to do in a report). Then, I want to view the employees within that department sorted first by whether or not the Needs_Work check box is selected, and then by how many of their competencies are unchecked.
This works great to return a report if the user selects something from the combo box. How do I adapt this so that the user can also leave the combo box blank and filter the report to return all records?Additionally, what if I want to have the user filter between dates selected on the form; i.e. between 'txtStart' and 'txtEnd'
I have created a front end and put into production for my users but I want to reduce the amount of menu bar options they see so someone cant click on a button wondering what it does and mess something up. What is the best way to reduce the amount of options a user sees on the menu bars when they open the front end of the db?
I've been using this forum for a couple of weeks but this is my first post, so apologies if I've put it in the wrong place!! I have a table with some drop-down lists to fill certain fields, and I would the available list options to change based on information in other fields. To provide an example:
Field One: The drop down list lets the user choose "Alphabet" or "Number"
Field Two: The drop down list lets the user choose A-Z if "Alphabet" is selected in Field One or 1-100 if "Number" is selected in Field One
Hope I've been clear enough. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
In the report I am trying to generate I want every possible option for a specific field to show. I have it set up now as accessing its options from a table but can change it to a value list if that will be easier. I have listed a sample of what I want and what I am getting to explain what I mean by this. If anyone can help me go from one type to the other I would appreciate the help!
** I put dashes between the columns since this forum doesn't exactly show things in a column.
What I want Locality-Count1-Count2-Count3-Count4-Sum 1-0-0-2-0-$23.34 2-3-2-8-1-$845.36 3-0-0-0-0-$0.00 4-4-2-0-0-$40.12 5-0-0-0-0-$0.00 6-0-0-0-0-$0.00
What I get Locality-Count1-Count2-Count3-Count4-Sum 1-0-0-2-0-$23.34 2-3-2-8-1-$845.36 4-4-2-0-0-$40.12
I am trying to create a unique reference number that includes the default autonumber and another count based on what the user selects from a dropdown (B).
For example, the reference might look something like these examples:
I will eventually create a unique reference by combining all the data (ie: 004-Drink-Latte-1, 010-Drink-Espresso-3) but it will allow me to number each type of drink in ascending order irrespective of the autonumber (which is the primary key.)
I would appreciate any advice on how to approach this! I am baffled!
I would like to run a simple select query, where the CRITERIA is based on the user choice. I have a form with a combo box, with a few choices, and a button that will trigger a macro with one query for now. I can store the choice in to a variable e.g. "town", using Microsoft VB code. How can I transfer the variable to the CRITERIA field in the query, so whenever I chose a specific "town", my query will select the records for that specific town. I want to use one query, and I don't want to have to "hard type the criteria in to the cells' query", but I would like to use a variable that can change and will be read it from the user choice through combo box.
Code: Private Sub Check253_AfterUpdate() If Me.Check253 = -1 Then Me.Text254 = DLookup("[Lot]", "[tblAutoGen]", "[Inuse] = -1") Me.Text256 = DLookup("[Exp]", "[tblAutoGen]", "[Inuse] = -1") Me.Text258 = DLookup("[Lot]", "[tblEthanol]", "[Inuse] = -1")
[Code] ....
I am using the code above on my form and it seems to be working. My question is there a way to populate a textbox (Text255) based off a login?
For example, lets say JSmith is loged in to the computer. Is there a way that JS could populate Text255? If then say JCarter is logged on, the JC populates Text255.
I have an Access 2003 db being used through Access 2007 in order to use user-based security. It is a spit db with the be being on a shared server. For some reason, the security login has been deactivated after working fine for over a year. The user goes right to the autoexec macro file without having to log in.
They are also getting a "Read-Only" message at the top about only being able change table in linked tables. The DB is configured to utilize the logon as a parameter in some queries.
I'm stuck! I want to create a form which has a combo box where you select someone's name, and their address appears in another text box on the same form. The names and addresses are in a table called "cardholders".
I'm doing separate combos for first name, surname cos I think that's the only way you can do it.
The fields in the table are credit_add, credit_name & credit_surname. The combos are called "cardholder name" "cardholder surname" etc. This is the code in the text box where I want the address to appear:-
My table has a yes/no field and about 10 records. I have created a form for the user to select which of the records he wishes to use - the records are displayed in a continuous form with a check box for the yes/no field. The user is to select one record by checking the check box in the record.
I know this should be obvious, but I can't see it. How can I make it so the user can only select one of the records (when he clicks on one, that one is yes and the others revert to no?
I have a database table in which I'm trying to pull sales data and generate sales reports from. The problem I face is that the sales data is recorded into a table with this structure:
Year | Customer | Sales_Month_1 | Sales_Month_2 | Sales_Month_3
Rather than having a single field "Month" in which I could set criteria or prompt the user to select a month to derive sales data from, I need to write a query that through user input (or through some code within the query) the right field will be selected. An example of this would be generating a report for the 1st month of the year, obviously.
I have a tblCommets that has 2 columns in it. The first is an identifier (1,2,3) and the second column is a comment associated with that identifier. Is it possible to use a query to pull that comment based on a user selection? So, if the user selects 1 then the comment associated with 1 is pulled, but if the user selects 2 then that comment results.
I have a table called tbl_post_staff, within this table I have an id number (autonumber), user id (text) and user full name(text). Then I have a form called ec_main with a combobox linked to tbl_post_staff, but stores its value in a field called officer_is in a table called tbl_extensions. also on the ec_main form is a text box that displays current user.
What I am trying to do is; on my form ec_main; default the combobox (Called officeris) to the staff full name based on there userid that is logged in. how can I do this?
I have a form in my front end database that is supposed to allow a user to search for a record based on account number and then make changes to the that record and for it to save in the back end database. I have the search function working where it populates different input boxes on the form with what is stored in the back end database but I cannot get the update function to work. I have tried to assign each input box with a variable and then run an Update SQL function to update each of the fields but the updates are not storing. Any example of a successful update statement that uses VBA variables in it or a way to update a specific record via a recordset type function?
I run a charity pre-school and have invoices to send out. Some of the parents cant afford to pay the whole amount in one go, so we give them a payment plan. e.g. If an invoice is for a 6 week term we let them pay weekly. So I have a check box on my form to say "are you on a payment plan".
Then - I have an free form input box..."How many payments..." and the answer may for instance be '6'.
What I want to do now is dynamically create/display 6 date fields, to record what the agreed payment dates are.
but maybe the answer is 4, or 7, etc. So I need to create/display the correct number of payment date fields.
I have a subform containing maintenance logs for pieces of equipment, viewed as a Datasheet.
I have a field called Comment accepting text. Since comments are similar, it would be nice to have a drop down list so the user can select what was previously typed in other records and then edit it from there, similar to how Google or search engines in its search text box generates as part of its suggestion list the previous searches after typing in the first few matching characters.
I tried looking through, but is there a property that does this?
