How would I set the field value in one table to equal the field value in another table? Neither fields are primary keys, but the two tables do have a one-to-many relationship. Basically, I just want the two values to be the same.
View RepliesI am creating a database to keep up with the expenses for my art business. I have a table for Vendors with a field (Mileage) for one-way mileage that I enter manually (EX: 11.8 miles). Then I have a calculated field that basically just multiplies the Mileage field times two to get total mileage to and from my house to vendor location. (Total Miles) {The reason I want to do this this way right now is because I didn't keep up with my mileage this year and I am having to look up the distance from my home to each location)
Then I have a "supplies" table where I show the date, the vendor, the item, cost, etc, and I want to add a Total Mileage field based on the calculated Total Miles field in the Vendors table that will automatically populate based on the vendor of each transaction. I just can't remember how to make this work and I know just enough SQL to be dangerous.
I have started work on a database to track the many (several hundred per annum) projects my company undertakes. A 'main' table lists projects, their fees, their key dates, their project numbers, etc. I have created another table for tasks. Each task is assigned to a project (via the project number), and may be 'open' or 'closed'. I have separated the tasks table from the projects table as there may be several different tasks for each project. It is also good to keep a record of the tasks.
I want to prepare a report from the projects table that lists projects IF they have any open tasks.
In my mind, this means 'If a task, with the corresponding project number, is open, put a 'Yes' in the 'Tasks open' field of the Projects table.'
I have a table called Inventory (table1 - PK=INVID) that contains all inventory ID numbers and descriptions. I have another table called Inventory Transactions (table2 - FK=INVID) that gets updated through a form. When a new transaction is made in table2, I want the transaction amount to get added or subtracted to an OnHandQty field in table1. I tried having table2 (transaction table) as the main form and then table2 as the subform, but I couldn't get table2 to update.

I need to keep track of their real full names, but I want the new-record default of the preferred name field to equal the contents of the first name field. How do I set this in the table design? The table already has 1400 records, and it would be quite a job to manually copy each first name to the preferred name field, a job I would rather avoid.

It has a lot of repetitive information to be entered each time, for example, they are supposed to enter their initials or name so that we can track them down if there is an issue. I have a main form with many subforms, each form /subform representing a table. One of the fields on the main form (ie engine type) is also in the engine subform. How do I make it so that filling in the engine type field on the main form automatically fills in the subform field?

So I have a form for addresses that checks against a table of US zip codes, and throws up a warning if the City/State/Zip entered isn't found on the table. This works great. But I was wondering if there was a way to list the available combinations based on the zip code entered. I want the program to tell the user that the city is wrong, but here is a list of what it could be.Is it possible for a msgbox to list all records where a field = value?

That's an example what i want to do except i had to manually type in 25. Is there any way to get that so it does that automatically. I am happy to use forms or macros or anything as long as it occurs straight away after the data is inputted and not have to run something or open something up

Within my table if Field 1 has an answer of Self (from drop down), then, I would like Fields 6-12 to auto populate; however, if Field 1 does not have an answer of Self, then leave Fields 6-12 blank.

The questions in the database need to be dynamic and are changed frequently.
I have a scorecard table which keeps a record of scores and the applicable question at the time the record was saved. I need to do this because in 6 months time we may want to provide feedback. As the question may have changed we need to be able to refer back to what the question was.
I want the question field in my scorecard table to populate with the value in my question table.
I have tried a number of things including setting the question field in the scorecard table to a lookup based on the following query:
SELECT tblQ1.Q1
FROM tblQ1;
This works however only as a list or combo box. I don't want the user to have to select the question. I want it to auto populate, is this possible?
in my form I created an unbound field with a requested combination, now how can I put those in a table field.

I have a numeric field (long integer) in a table. I've set the format to fixed. No matter what I set the decimal places to, auto, 0 or 2, when I enter a value of 0.71, it displays as 1.00
In my form, I've also set the field property to fixed, but it displays the value as 1.
I am trying create some code that checks if the contents of the status field in a table is "Authorised" where the ID = something specific for multiple records. If all records witht the specific ID are "Authorised" Then generate a new record in another table. Where to start, perhaps a Dlookup?

the table 2 is the source of a form that will let the user change the numbers. table 1 should change Date1 and Date2 Fields based on the two fields (3months) and (6months) if i want to make a lookup wizard it should be changed manually and if i make a calculated field i can't find other tables in the expression builder
I have a main table which is autonumbered on unitid, I have another table which is linked via the unitid which holds items purchased for the main table, so the second table is a subform of the suppliers and will have multiple entries of the same unitid. What I would like to do is when an item is entered into the second table, check the main table to see if it exists, if it does populate the unitid field with the unitid from the main table, and if not exist create a new record in the main table with the next unitid number.
This in essence is what I want, bearing in mind that the tblinvoices is a subform and the tblmain is not open.

I am using Access 2002 SP1 and have created a pivot table based on a query which works fine. However if I change the structure of the underlying query by adding another field, the field is not availabe in the Field List in the pivot table. I have used the refresh option but I understand it only applies to the data.
Any ideas?
I am creating a table which is called a New Connection Analysis from there I have created a form that is linked to the table. I the form I have created a combo box to show the different division e.g. Central, Western, Northern. Now the combo box is created but when I enter the data in the form once I select the division e.g. Central when I save it the data doesn't go to the Division list on the table.....How can that be fixed????

One table has a column in which I need to search the contents of this field by referencing data in another field/table. I am able to write the query searching the data manually (not referencing the other table) but can't seem to get the query right when referencing the other table!
