I have a button that, when clicked upon, I would like to hyperlink to one folder--the location of which being specified by a value the user selects from a combobox.
Example of what I would like to happen:
1)The user selects the Ship Name "AGER 2-Pueblo" from the combobox list.
2)The user clicks the "Go To Ship Folder" button to go to this ship's folder.
3)Access takes "AGER 2-Pueblo" from the combobox and tacks it on the end of the general address of "C:Documents and SettingsDesktopShip Stuff" so that the folder "C:Documents and SettingsDesktopShip StuffAGER 2-Pueblo" opens.
I tried searching for this...but found nothing except the application.followhyperlink code, which I can't get to do this. Can this be done? I would appreciate any help.
Hey guys! I have a basic knowledge of MS Access and for some of you it might seem like a stupid question, but here's my issue:
I'm trying to create an hyperlink in a form (or a data access page) to a web page, but part of that hyperlink url will be contained in a field in a table. For example, the link would look like that: www.[site].com where [site] is a field inside let's say Table1. So depending on the value of [site] the link will return: (URL address blocked: See forum rules) or (URL address blocked: See forum rules), etc.. I assume it might require some coding to achive the desired result which I don't know anything about I tried to set the control source of my link to: = "www." & [Table1]![site] & ".com" but of course it doesn't work.
Thanks a lot in advance for all the help you can give me.
I am embedding a MS Access 2003 Database form into web page (iframe) by creating a "Data Access" form.
I have created it all and it works fine. But there is one last thing i need to sort out.
When the user clicks the Submit button (Really a Save Record Button), i would like the button to also forward the visitor to a basic "Thank You" html page, in the actual iframe. At the moment the record saves, but it doesn't give the visitor any acknowledgement that they submitted successfully.
What code do i need to add to the <Button> code on the Data Access form, in order to create a hyperlink. I am not too familiar with VB.
I created a table about films and i made a form so i can see each movie in a different record. I wanted to create a button which generates a link to the movie's internet website. But when i create a button i cant put a different hyperlink for each record of the form.
My idea is the button to have a logo of the site so that is why i cant just put a link in a text box. I also tried embedding a hyperlink to a picture but again i had the same problem.. there was only one hyperlink for all the records .
Ok I have a Continuous form that in one of it's fields contains Hyperlinks. The form is named [Song Info] and the field is [Play]. I want this field to be hidden and have a command button open up the hyperlink in that recordset. I think that all the info need but if not let me know.
.I'm trying to pass a field ([txtUPRN]) in a form to a hyperlink or button on the form.
e.g. [URL]
I thought I could add a hyperlink and simply change the part 'jlocation = 26800' to 'jlocation = Me![txtUPRN]' but this would be too easy as it doesn't work. THe URL still opens a web page but displays no data. Do I have to be more explicit as to what I'm passing in i.e. use the full form name or am I going about this the wrong way?
I am attempting to create a form (Access 2013) that will include buttons to open the hyperlink menu to add a hyperlink into a table. It works if you click "Ok" without issue, however, if you click "Cancel" or click on the "X" I get a "Run-time error '2501' - The RunCommand action was cancelled". This is obviously referring to the RunCommand in the VBA code. The code does not reference the cancel or close option of the hyperlink editing box. I don't know how to correct this error.
Code:
Private Sub Command9_Click() Me.[Hyperlink].SetFocus DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdInsertHyperlink Command9_Click_Exit: Exit Sub
[code]....
Also, is there a way to get the hyperlink to populate as the full network path and not the drive letter?
ok, I have links to documents(reportLink) stored as type text in a table (Investigations). Each link is different per record.
I have a form that display information from this table. The field that holds the hyperlink is called reportLink on the form. On this form I would like to have a button that when clicked will open up the [reportLink] for that particular record. so this button will point to a different file each time the record is changed.
I have stumbled around this site and think I have to put the Application.FollowHyperlink code in the OnClick event for this button. However, I am clearly not doing it right as it isnt working. what is wrong with this:
Private Sub Command34_Click() Application.FollowHyperlink Me.[ReportLink]
I am trying to create a button that opens up a webpage. I get how to create a hyperlink on a button. The problem is, I need to open a specific page depending on the information in a text box.
The text box displays the tracking number for the current record. That number is populated automatically via a control source. The problem is that I need to open different web pages depending on the tracking number displayed. For example, UPS has a specific start to their number (1ZX....). Other trucking companies have a specific format, also.
So how do I tell it to look at the tracking number and then open the corresponding web page?
I have a field in a Table (tblMainFile) named "File Location" which contains a hyperlink for each of the files.I have a continuous form (from a query) which displays information from the tblMainFile table.the form shows a text box (with the hyperlink) which is clickable to take them to the link location.I would like to have a button which says (GET FILE) or a different text box which simply says "Get File" as opposed to the entire hyperlink.
I have a command button on a Web Mutli-Record form that is using a "= [Report_URL]" value within the Hyperlink Address property. This all seems to work other than the fact that when the link popups up it has a "#" on either side that basically makes it an invalid address. How do I get rid of the # signs to get the web address popup in the URL when a user clicks on the Command Button that is associated to the row the record is on.
I have a Multiple Value Combobox that I have linked to one of my forms and I am trying to write some vba code that will allow on update, "if a certain item is clicked open up a different form".
Here is the Multiple Value Combobox Multiple value combobox3.JPG
I am trying to create some code for a button in a report that will follow a hyperlink to a specific file. The problem I'm having is that the files that are at the end of the hyperlink can have various extensions (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf, etc.) I'd like to be able to put a wildcard in the code to allow the opening of the file regardless of the extension.
Code so far:
Private Sub Command6_Click() Application.FollowHyperlink ("C:UsersjbeggDocumentsAccessTestFolder" & [FileName] & ".*") End Sub
i have thousands of data records with hyperlinks that are correct. Each data record shows the actual link (google.com, foxnews.com, espn.com, etc.). However, i want to change all of the records to just say "link" instead of saying espn.com, etc. How can i do this automatically without having to manually right click, edit, and changing the text to display?
I'm having some trouble opening a group of forms using a combobox. I think I'm really close, but I'm having some errors that prevent me from doing so.
I have a Combobox called "Letter Type" that contains the names of all of the other forms that exist. I want to be able to select a form from the combobox and click on the button "Compose." This should then open that form.
I had some trouble trying to get the Combobox value to work properly so I decided I would just create a hard workaround by using If/Then statements.
This is what I have in the On_Click event of my button.
Private Sub Compose_Click() If Me.Letter_Type = "Refund Request" Then strForm = "Refund_Request" ElseIf Me.Letter_Type = "Request for Records" Then strForm = "Request_for_Records" End If DoCmd.OpenForm strForm, , , Me.[Reference_#] = Forms![Reference_#] End Sub
The catch is that I want the form to only open with one record and I want that record to be the same record the user was viewing on the previous form. I thought I would tie them together using the "Reference #" since it is unique.
When I click on Compose I get a "type mismatch" on the Reference #, though I'm not sure why.
Is there away to set the values in a combo box depending on what option button you have selected.
What I would like is to select an option button in an option group then that would trigger certain vaules in a combo box. And if I selected another option button it would change the values in the same combo box?
So if I selected optWhite, the values in cboEthnic = British AND Irish AND Other
If I select optMixed, the values in cboEthnic = White and Black Asian AND White and Black Caribbean etc...
I have a contineous form with a combobox for each record and i have a button to select the first item in the combobox then to refresh the list in the combobox .I want to creat a one button to select the first item in the combobox then refresh the list then go to the next record and select the first item on the list
I would like to store the string in my table when I choose a string from a combobox or radio button in the form.For example, if I choose 'Business' ( from major field in my department table ) in my combobox, I expect there is a 'Business' in my major field in my department table. And if I click radio button labled 'A' (position field), I expect there will be 'A' in the position field in my table. However, those only store numeric values, for example '3' for 'Business' and '1' for 'A' in the table. How can I store the 'real value' in my table instead of number when I choose them.
Access 2010. I have a form pulling from a query to create a "To Do' list of sorts. On this form is a button to open an input form for the corresponding record (I hope). When this button is used I want it to pull certain data for that specific line from the query and input it into the new record opened by the button. I know this is possible as I use another db that does this but I have not been able to figure out how to make it work in the new db.
I am trying to use a combobox called Manufacturer to select which table the combobox called Model gets it's rowsource from using the code below.
Code:
Private Sub Manufacturer_AfterUpdate() If (Me.Manufacturer.Value = "Siemens") Then Me.Model.RowSourceType = "Table/Query" Me.Model.Recordset = "SeimensTable" Me.Model.RowSource = "SELECT Model FROM SeimensTable" Else If (Me.Manufacturer.Value = "Samsung") Then Me.Model.RowSourceType = "Table/Query" Me.Model.Recordset = "SamsungTable" Me.Model.RowSource = "SELECT Model FROM SamsungTable" End If End If End Sub
But when I run the form and select Manufacturer. Combobox Model remains empty. tell me what I'm doing wrong?
How would I modify multiple comboboxes in subforms at the same time. For example.. In main form ComboboxA user selects 1992, Combobox1 in subform1 is also changed to 1992, as well as Combobox2 in subform 2.
I have 2 comboboxes, the first one is called "activity", whereby I have 3 options to choose from, and the second is called "level".
When I click an "activity", for example Drawings, I want the "level" combobox to list a unique set of options for that category. and if I click on a different "activity" for example Planning, I want the "level" combobox to show a completely different set of options.
If anyone can give me any help on how to do this then I would be very grateful!!
I have a database with a number of linked tables that are linked to tables in different databases (not a back-end).for example, I have table1 that is linked to table1 in K:databasedb1.mdb.table2 linked to table2 in S:datadata.mdb.and so on...
However, recently we have moved all our databases to a new location.
K:databasedb1.mdb is now residing in O:masterdatabase and S:datadata.mdb is now residing in O:masterdata and so on...
I'm now in charge of relinking all those tables to point to the new location.I would do this in linked table manager one by one but we have 100s of tables linked to multiple different databases in different location.is there a way to create a VBA code that will automatically do this re-linking process?
so, 1. find unlinkable tables 2. search its new location under O:master 3. re-link it to the new location
Database names and tables names have not been changed. Just the location of databases.
I've tried searching the forums and haven't found quite what i'm looking for. I would like to be able to change the source for a combobox based on another combobox. The simplest way i can summarize that is i want to be able to choose A or B, depending on my choice i want another combobox to display all the values that A or B can have.
I've read some tutorials on this sort of thing, but I can't seem to piece it all together to achieve what I want.
I have a table Products that contains the fields Product, Size and Brand. I also have a form, frmProducts, that has a combobox linked to each of the fields in the Products table. I want to be able to select a product from the first combobox, tab to the Brand combobox and have only those brands associated with the product already selected.
This is how I think it should work: 1.ComboBox1 selects productA 2.ComboBox2 takes its options from a query that searches Products table for all instances of productA and displays all available brands. brandA is selected. 3.ComboBox3 get its options from another query that searches for all instances of productA that also have brandA and displays all available sizes.
What I'm having trouble with in particular is passing the data between queries. For example, I can't figure out how to tell the query to search for all instances of productA when its defined by the first combobox. Do I have to store it as a variable somewhere?
I am trying to build a Form that will show an estimate (then eventually will be moved to a project if customer and employee aggree to price and project) in a Form F_Estimates is a M_Customers(Customer_ID) (Based on a Table) and thier info in a Subform. Also is the "projected costs" from parts out of the Parts(Part_ID) (Based on another Table) in a second Subform as a list that I need to calculate $$$ in (Dang that still sounds evil and definately NOT understandable even after edit... so)
Here's some basic info
Tables
EstimatesandParts - Table EstimatesandParts_ID : Autonumber Estimate_ID : Number Part_ID : Number
Parts - Table Part_ID : Autonumber PartNumber : Text (not a number due to some part#s have letters in them) PartName : Text Unit Price : Currency Description : Text
Estimates - Table Estimate_ID : Autonumber InvoiceNumber : Text (again can have letters in it) EstimateDate : Date/Time EstimateTime : Date/Time Employee_ID : Number Customer_ID : Number ProblemDescription : Memo
Customers - Table Customer_ID : Autonumber FirstName : Text LastName : Text CompanyName : Text Address : Text City : Text Province_State : Text Postal_ZIPCode : Text (CDN Postal codes are letter num letter...)
you can see the link table in the EstimatesandParts Table
Now I want to use that link to populate a subform in the F_Estimates form
Forms
SF_Customers - SubForm
(all boxes atm are text boxes on this form till I figure out the Parts section then will use same base for this so I can pick any customer in the database to be the customer for this estimate. Also will have ctrl button for making new customer with customer form and a refresh on Focus Gain bit of code)
FirstName LastName CompanyName Address City Province_State Postal_ZIPCode
SF_Parts - SubForm Default View -Continuous Forms
(want it to be a list of parts that I can grab prices and descriptions from then in a bit of code to calculate a cost of parts)
Part_ID : Combo Box Control Source - Part_ID Row Source Type - Table/Query Row Source - SELECT Parts.Part_ID, Parts.PartNumber, Parts.PartName, Parts.UnitPrice, Parts.Description FROM Parts ORDER BY Parts.Description;
(Pulls info from the table Parts for input into a list of parts to be used on that project)
PartName : Text Box UnitPrice : Text Box
(here's where I run into problems due to the fact that the form is not based on the parts table but rather the link table EstimatesandParts so I can't propogate the info to the 2 other text boxes, ps I dont care if they cant be text boxes and have to be linked or some other type I'm not "set" just need to find out how to make it work )
(have tried a couple things to complete this task)
(works AWSOME ... for ONE ROW then propogates the second selection to the first and second and third selection to first second and third and so on ...)
(tried to make control source for the txtPartName to)
=Forms!Parts!Partname
(Doesnt exist .. akkk, cant use ActiveForm either as it doesn't focus on the SubForm but the MainForm ... cry)
(Combo Boxes Select Customer and Employee from list of present ones of each)
SF_Customers SF_Parts
(Both SubForms on the main form)
Now this is an Exerp from my entire Database I like to work on one small problem at a time and I have made this its own little database till I figure out the problem then I will bring the info I learn back into the rest of the database and go from there ...
Hope you can help I have a feeling I will need to make a recordset and go from there but I'm just not able to wrap my head around that for some reason
Thanks in advance for ANY and ALL help that I get from here
