I Need A Query To Reflect A Value Based On Combo Box Selections

Apr 11, 2006

Hi all,

In my database, different Customers have different Rates.

I am trying to run a query that will pull a value dependent upon The Service Type & Customer that have been selected from combo boxes.

My database tables are as follows;

(Rate Profile Table)
RateID
ON8
ON11
SD

(Customer Profile Table)
CustomerID
CustomerName
CustAddress
RateID

(Shipments Table)
ShipmentID
WaybillNo
Date
ServiceTypeID

The ServiceTypeID is selected on the Shipments Form by making a selection from a combo box that has been populated by the RateID Table Field Names (which are the service types).

Everything works fine but I need to be able to run a query to calculate the freight charge (from the appropriate rate in the Rate Profile Table) according to which Customer & Service Type has been selected, but not having much joy.

I would be extremely grateful if someone could point me in the right condition.

Thx...

Table And Its Query Reflect Combo Box ID Equivalent Not Text Result

Mar 10, 2014

Whats the best way to show the text result of a combo box selection when displaying the information through a query? I notice the table is also reflecting only the numerical ID result of the selection so I'm not sure how to take this result and display it as a text result to the user.

Modules & VBA :: Filter Based On Two Combo Box Selections

Apr 7, 2015

I currently have a combo box that filters form based on specialist (an employee using the system), and this works fine:

Private Sub FilterSpecialist_AfterUpdate()
Me.Filter = "SpecialistAssigned = '" & Me.FilterSpecialist & "'"
Me.FilterOn = True
End Sub

When Specialist Assigned name is selected, it only shows their cases (records of the form that are assigned to them).

However, now I'm trying to also filter based on only the selected Specialists Open cases. I have a combo box at the bottom of the form that saves whether the Case is Open or Closed, (creatively) called CaseOpenClosed:

Private Sub FilterSpecialist_AfterUpdate()
Me.Filter = ("SpecialistAssigned = '" & Me.FilterSpecialist & "'" And CaseOpenClosed = "Open")
Me.FilterOn = True
End Sub

I've tried this based on me searching the forum but it doesnt filter at all anymore, and no error either. I've tried other ways but get errors. What is wrong with this?

Combo Box To Reflect Current Record

Jan 2, 2007

Hello All

I can't get my combo box to do what I want. I think I need a line of code - (but I don't know how to write code !!)

I have two combo boxes on my form. The first one is used to enter a Client name (ClientID). I want to use the second combo box to enter a ClientPartner(PartnerID). But I want the drop down choice of ClientPartner to be restricted only to the ClientPartners at the Client selected in the first box.

They are related in tables (one ClientID can have many PartnerIDs).

My query tests OK, when I manually enter a ClientID. It doesn't work when I attach it to the combo box. I can see why - I need something that says "take the ClientID of the record on the CURRENT form". In the absence of this, its always taking the first ClientID in the database.

Here is the code behind the second ComboBox.

SELECT t_ClientPartners.PartnerID, t_ClientPartners.Name, t_ClientPartners.ClientID
FROM t_ClientPartners
WHERE (((t_ClientPartners.ClientID)=[Forms]![f_Deals]![ClientID]))
ORDER BY t_ClientPartners.Name;

How do I make it do what I want? Is this something to do with Set Focus?

Combo Box Only Allows SOME Selections

Jul 12, 2005

I have a combo box in a form. The box is linked to a table called Therapy with 3 fields: TherapyID, Therapy_Type and Therapy_Cost.

The table has been populated with 5 records:
1 Physical Therapy $125
2 Occupational Therapy $125
3 Acupuncture $90
4 Swedish Massage $65
5 Raindrop Treatment $65

I have a field on the form that pops up the cost when one of these is selected in the combo box. This seems to be working but for some reason, and it's blowing my mind, the combo box refuses to let me select Occupational Therapy or Raindrop Treatment.

I have other pick lists of other things working perfectly well, allowing all selections and popping the costs into their little text fields quite happily.

Can anyone give me a hint as to why THIS one isn't working right?

Multiple Combo + Last 5 Selections

Oct 1, 2006

Howdy all, Ive got combo boxes, in a cascading style working well... but what id like to also have is a another dropdown list that shows the last 5 selected options (because often the data will be entered in batches and it should just save time)there is combo1 combo2 and combo3 If Sport is selected in combo1 then it displays combo2 with all the sports in it, so if golf is selected then the golf options come up in combo3 for example tiger, So id like to store Sport > Golf > Tiger Ive already got the value for Tiger being selected, so I can assign that easily enoughWhat id like to be able to do is store the name and its value in a combo box maybe showing the last 5 selections. Im just not sure what the best way to go about this would be, Should I make a table with say 5 rows? or is there a better way to go about it?Any thoughts or advice would be awesome,Cheers Ezy

Forms :: Display TextBox Value Based On Combobox Selections

Jun 5, 2015

I have a form that has 3 combo boxes and a text box that I want to be a lookup. I have a little experience with DLookUp, but I do not think that will work here. The three combo boxes are linked to queries, and Tables. The first combo box is for choosing "Precious" or "Base" metals. The second combo box is filtered from the first and displays the "Metal Names". The third combo box is to choose a "Metal Market". There are currently four options for that. I want the text box to display the "Metal Market Price" based on the second and third combo box selections.

Here is a screenshot of the table with all of the metals and their market prices filled in with dummy values for now:

Here is a screenshot of the relevant Form: Metals form screenshot.PNG

Here is a screenshot of the Table that relates to the relevant form: Metals table design.PNG

Queries :: Deleting Records Based On Selections From Another Table

Apr 1, 2013

I am trying to create a Delete query.

I am trying to delete a specific part from multiple BOMs in my database.

I have a table of the BOMs that I want to look in. I called this table PartTable. I also linked my database table SYSADM.REQUIREMENT which contains all the requirement parts for all of our BOMs.

So I am wanting to delete only part number 123XX from each of the BOMs in my PartTable.

I am able to select the records with:

Code:
SELECT SYSADM_REQUIREMENT.*
FROM SYSADM_REQUIREMENT INNER JOIN PartTable ON SYSADM_REQUIREMENT.WORKORDER_BASE_ID = PartTable.PART_ID
WHERE (((SYSADM_REQUIREMENT.WORKORDER_TYPE)="M") AND ((SYSADM_REQUIREMENT.WORKORDER_BASE_ID)=[PartTable].[PART_ID]) AND ((SYSADM_REQUIREMENT.WORKORDER_LOT_ID)="0") AND ((SYSADM_REQUIREMENT.PART_ID)="123XX"));

Now how do I delete these same records.

I am getting error saying I have to select a table to delete from....

Forms :: Updating Subform Using VBA Based On Specific Selections

Mar 8, 2013

I have a Form named 'Opening_Screen' which consists of various objects - Combo Boxes, RadioButtons, Check Boxes which the user can select.There is a subform called 'Report' within the 'Opening_Screen'. The source object of the subform is a query (called 'QueryX').

There is a button called 'Generate Report' on the form which when clicked - an SQL must run on the backend, update the query which in turn should update the Subform 'Report'.For me, the QueryX gets updated, but the subform doesn't. When I manually switch the form to Design View and then back to Form View - the subform gets updated. I tried the same through the vba code instead, but it doesn't update the subform.

Adding Different Due Date For Different Combo Box Selections

After choosing the assignment, the user adds the date it was completed. After this is done, I would like the "Next Due" column to update. Each assignment will have a different next due date, such as one year from the completion date, six months, etc. I don't know how to add different values depending on the combo box selection.

Forms :: Populate A Table Based On Selections Made Within A Form

Apr 27, 2015

So I'm trying to populate a table based on selections I make within a form.

The form is based of a query that pulls a new product category that needs to be added to my first reference table for products.

The form shows all the new unique product codes, and there is a drop down box with product categories whose source is also the first reference table, so a new code would be:

'JBL - TRX - FVB - TRZ' And based on that new info, I would select from the drop down to select the corresponding category and click 'Add Record' button.

I'm building the event for the button and the code is as follows so far :

Private Sub Add_Record_Click()
End Sub
Private Sub cmbAdd_Record_Click()
'add data to table
CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO tblPVMTable(PVMJoinField, SummaryPVMCategory) " & _

[Code] ....

I keep getting errors with the main portion of code.

Name of table fields :

PVMJoinField
SummaryPVMCategory

Name of Query Fields Populating the Form:

PVM_JOIN_FIELD
cboSummaryPVMCategory

Queries :: Calculate Totals Column Based On Check Box Selections

Mar 15, 2013

I'm trying to create a query to work out the total amount to invoice based upon some selections. Currently my query looks at the values in several fields (numberOfRollsUsed etc) by taking the value in these fields and multiplying by a fixed amount to calculate the total.

What I would like to add to the query is fixed values based upon some check box selections. So if check box A is selected, add 5 to the total, is check box B is selected, add a further 10, and so on. All fields and check boxes are held within the same table (Job).

Am I being daft or trying to do something in the worst way possible? I'm actually adding this to an existing system so I don't have so many options to completely redesign the system to calculate this in a better way.

Making Combo Box Selections Dynamic To Checkboxes

Hello people,

Say for example, in two fields within my dropdown for Camera Status in the Maintenance table...

FIT FOR PURPOSE - Availability Checkbox = Yes

What expression do I need in expression builder, so that Selecting UNDER REPAIR or FAULTY/DAMAGED instead makes the checkbox availability turn to unchecked automatically within a form, without the need to manually change the checkbox?

How do I do this?

Thank you.

Forms :: Filter Based On Multiple Selections - Referencing A Control On A Subform

Oct 23, 2013

I have a multi select list box which I am trying to use to open another form and apply a filter based on the user's multiple selections.

List box - lstCatergories
Main Form - frmSuppliersSummaryCategories
Subform on Main Form - frmSuppliersSummaryCategoriesSubForm

The Subform contains the text box CategoryID

Here's my code which nearly works...

Code:
Private Sub cmdFilterSuppliers_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdFilterSuppliers_Click

Dim strWhere As String
Dim ctl As Control
Dim varItem As Variant

[Code] .....

My problem is that the control "CategoryID" is on the subform and I'm having massive problems trying to reference it. This is the part of my code that won't work:

Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmSuppliersSummaryCategories", acNormal, , "CategoryID IN(" & strWhere & ")"

However; if I open the SubForm directly it works perfectly. I.e.

Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmSuppliersSummaryCategoriesSubform", acFormDS, , "CategoryID IN(" & strWhere & ")"

To summarise... How do I reference the control "CategoryID" on the subform "frmSuppliersSummaryCategoriesSubform"?

Getting Duplicate Records In Split Form Datasheet When Using Combo Box With Multiple Selections

How to correct the issue below. I created a split form and I have 2 combo boxes that allow multiple selections. The one combo box for LOB (line of business) works perfect and does not create duplicate records in the datasheet view of the split form. The 2nd combo box with multiple selections creates duplicate records in the datasheet depending on how many selections are made.

I have checked this in the underlying table and there are no duplicate records, it is only in the split form datasheet. I have checked settings and configuration between the 2 combo boxes that are reacting differently and they appear to be identical...

Cascading Combo Boxes - Interact And Record Selections Made In New Records Within Destination Table

Sep 12, 2012

I am trying to get a series of combo boxes to interact and record the selections made in new records within a destination table. Here is situation with respect to the tables involved:

1 table lists the names/acronyms of various research facilities and the branch to which they belong (acronym is PK)
1 table lists Financial Points of Contact for each facility (acronym is FK to relate to earlier table)
1 table lists Technical Points of Contact for each facility (acronym is FK to relate to Facility table)
1 table lists program participants and the branch they belong to (Branch in FK to relate to Facility table)

I am trying to create a form that allows me to set the participant and, from this selection, restricts the facility choices in the Facility combo box to those that fall within the branch to which the participant is assigned. I think the next step is pretty obvious too. Once the facility is selected I have combo boxes that would only display those Financial and Technical PoCs assigned to that facility.

I have watched the 4 Data Pig tutorials and I can easily make functional cascading combo boxes as long as they only refer to the look up tables. I generated perfectly functioning cascading combo boxes on a test form. How do I generate combo boxes that will then store the info selected in my destination table? Whenever I try to set a Control Source it disrupts the functioning of the queries.

Query Based On 1-4 Combo Boxes

May 17, 2007

I have a rather simple query that will produce filtered results based on the user's selection in 1 to 4 separate combo boxes on a form. But I can't get it to do what I want it to do. Here are my vitals:

Form = frmQryAdHoc
City combo box = cboCity (from tblWARNData)
County combo box = cboCounty (from tblCounties)
MWA combo box = cboWMA (from tblLookUpData)

Query = qryAdHoc (source = tblWARNData)
CoCity column criteria = [Forms]![frmQryAdHoc]![cboCity]
CoCounty column criteria = [Forms]![frmQryAdHoc]![cboCounty]
CoMWA column criteria = [Forms]![frmQryAdHoc]![cboMWA]

The query works fine if I make selections in all 3 combo boxes. However, if I make a selection in only cboCity, the query returns no results because it doesn't find a matching record where the city = cboCity and the County and MWA fields are blank.

Here's how I want it to work:

If cboCity = Detroit and cboCounty = Wayne, then
Results = 40 records (where city = Detroit AND county = Wayne)

But if cboCounty = Wayne and cboCity & cboMWA are blank, then
Results = 120 records (where county = Wayne; cities & MWAs = various)

IOW, I want the query to filter only on the cbo's where a selection has been made by the user and ignore any empty cbo's. What statement do I need to enter in each cbo-related criteria field so the query filters only on the combo boxes where a selection has been made by the user?

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Running A Query Based On Item In Combo Box

Nov 12, 2004

I am trying to select the records I want displayed by what category is chosen in the combo box.

Say there are two fields in the combo box: Red / Blue

I want the query to only display the records associated with the Red Category.

If I set the criteria in the query to [Show only Red] and type in Red when the query is run I get blank lines.

Is there an issue when choosing a category from a combo box for the query to be specific on?

My other issue is.... does the problem originate because I am trying to run a query from a table that is being filled in by typing the
information into a form? I wouldn't think so, but I am not sure.

Thanks,
