Hi all, i hope this is posted in the right place first of all :) apologies if not..
I have about 8 individual databases which will be used simultaneously by users. I wish to be able to have full control over these databases from a 'master database' including being able to delete the data in there (possibly import fresh data but not 100% needed) and export data to be analysed in Excel etc I figure this can be done with access but if i'm on the totally wrong track i would be appreciative if someone could give me a push in the right direction..
If any more infomation is needed then let me know.
I have database for each location. Every location will update some information in the databases and send it back to me. In those location based databases, information will be stored in one table called "consolidate_input". I will store these databases in one specific directory and then I want to accommodate the data of "consolidate_input" into one master database having the same identical table in the database.
We're a small shop building a modest database to keep track of our product listings on eBay. Two people on non networked computers are doing the data entry into cloned copies of our database. This includes attached photos for each record. At the end of each week, we want to combine the records created separately into the master database on my system.
It seems like it would be simple enough to just cut and the paste the records from the two databases into the identical master. The problem I'm anticipating concerns the attached photos.
Some strategies are to transfer the records from the data entry computers to the master database while keeping the attached photos intact.
Is there an effective, efficient way to set this up or would it be best to use the OLE format for the pictures instead of attaching them (which I prefer)?
Currently am trying to get together two separate Access Databases into one, which is the way it was always supposed to be.
Basically, this person accidentally created a duplicate of the database in question, and has been updating both independently at different times, meaning that whilst a lot of the database information is duplicate, there are some instances where each separate database copy has unique information on both existing contacts, and new unique contacts.
The database itself is about schools, and has tables concerning information such as calls made, contact details, school details, etc etc. Obviously all of this needs putting back together into one set of tables in one file.
I've been messing around with append and import functions, but am having issues with duplicate ID fields with append queries, and a general lack of direction on the best way to go about fixing this problem, if its even possible.
I am trying to form a join between two separate databases. Database 1 has a column (Gene_Name2) that consists of common names of human genes. In this database there is only one name for each gene per field. The other Database 2 has a column (Gene_Name2) that has various names for the same gene in each field. Most genes have been given different names over time. I want to join the databases into a separate query database so that all of the information in Database 1 is retained and only when the name in Database 1 matches one of the names in Database 2 does the row of information get tacked on to the query database. The problem is that in a normal query the text in both Gene_Name columns do not match and the query returns no matches. I have tried Instr and like criteria statements with no luck.
Hi, We have quite a large Db which always requires the updating of new features etc. I update some bits while my collegue works on others. I was just wondering if there's a good way of "merging" the 2 Db's together? Is this the syncronising bit, or does that just refer to data? Basically, we shouldn't update the same forms/ queries as we are assigned specific jobs so no they're not going to effect each other. It's just that when we come together it's a case of "OK, what have you updated?" and we have to through each section, hopefully we've written them all down! :o Any suggestions as always, much appreciated. Matt
I have a series of 7 separate Access 2010 programs that are designed to run under the control of a scheduler, and they must always finish. Errors are trapped and logged but mustn't stop the processes completing.
What I'm trying to do now is to create a single master control program that runs each individual application, one after the other, in order. And each individual app cannot start until the previous one is finished.how to call a separate Access program and know when it has finished.
Is it possible to create a query that looks over two different databases for information. i.e I have two departments at work that have seperate databases and I need to be able to search for data in both of them on the same query.
I would like to know in what type of working environment everyone works. i.e. an office with a closed door, a cubicle with high walls, shared cubicle, low-walled cubicle.
I have a quick question that could lead into a longer one.
First off, I am trying to associate tests with a course a student is enrolled in. Would it be better to add a column in the courses table and have a comma separated list of all tests associated with each course or would it be better to create a separate table that has a column for the course and another column for the associated test with that course?
If comma separated fields would be better, how would I handle that in forms? How does one parse that field?
I have a query which displays only the records that match the criteria in the form given before. Now i want to create separate report for each of these records. How should i go about with it? I don't want a seperate form for this purpose, is there any way to do the same with a macro?
I have a form, frmSub, that contains the combo box comProducts. I also have two tables, Products and PurchaseDetail. Both tables have the field ProductID.
I want comProducts to create a new record in the Products table, using the input in a field called Product and then to use the value of ProductID to create a new record in the PurchaseDetail table. Ie, so the PurchaseDetail table has a record that links to another record in the Products table via the feild ProductID.
I want to be able to take two separate queries to create a 2 line graph. Also to be able to spice the graphs up some. The ones I have done, single line, even seems dull.
I've created a custom ribbon and it works great however I want to create a separate ribbon and attach it to the report. On this particular ribbon, I'd like the export to excel, export to word and print functions to appear ONLY for reports. Not all reports will need to be exported; it depends what the user does. I've created this XML and I'm not receiving any error message. It loads as expected but my group is blank/empty. Still confused.
I have 1 table that I duplicated to make 3 tables total. I did this b/c I am trying to create separate columns from the same field and table. The field is Workorder. Each workorder list the workorder number followed by a dash and then code. I am wanting to put all of the workorders with the same code in it's own column.
I have 5 codes that i am searching for. The first column list the workorder and a code (123456789-AD). The second column (123456789-BC). I'm good to this point but my problem occurs next.
The third column i am trying to put 3 types of workorder and it's code in the same column. As follows, (123456789-CD, 123456789-TC, and 123456789-PTC. However, when I do this it takes the results from the 3rd column and applies it to the 3rd column but also the 1st and 2nd column. I tried a UNION query and unless I am doing it incorrectly it does not work.
The interface being used is a main form with various tabs and a subform on each of these tabs.
There is one field ('max power density') in my database that is calculated using 'Max Rated Power' and 'Cylinder Capacity' however these are in different tables and subforms. The 'max power density' and 'max rated power' are in table and subform 1 but 'cylinder capacity' is in table and subform 2. Is it possible to keep them in separate tables/subforms and still calculate the field?
I have a sales report that I generate each week based on a query, which relies on the input from a combo box on a form. This works great - but I have select each salesperson, one at a time and run their reports separately.
I'd like to have some code that will run through each person on the list, generate their report, create the PDF, and email (or save) the file. From my initial research, it appears I will need to utilize a List Box (vs a combo box), so I can select multiple salespersons for the report.
I've found a few examples of code to use...but a little lost on how to implement. I create a new form with a list box that queries the property table for the list. I then added a button to execute the code, and attempted to add this (with my control and reports names substituted). Getting all sorts of errors -- so not sure I'm on the correct path.

I have three tables that contain different columns but linked by a primary column call Name. I want to create a table where all these different columns in the three tables join to form a master table which can be updated regularly either through the master table or the smaller tables. The master table also has the primary column as Name.
If I update the master table with records, it should update the respective linked table and vice versa. I also want to link these tables to my SharePoint site.
Note: except the Name column, none of these tables have any other columns in common How do I go about this?
I have a table "Project Master Code", contains: Project code, Cost Code, Description, Budget Amount, Total Purchase, Left to Complete.
For each project, we enter all above field except Total Purchase. Total Purchase to be taken from Transaction table.
What I want is that, I want to creat a query based on Project Master Code table. I will call all field from Project Master Code and in Total Purchase column I want all Purchase from Transaction table.on based of Project Code & Cost Code.
I have created a master & replicas and sorted out synchronisation across a VPN and overall l am very happy with what l have achieved (lots of thanks to to help l have received todate from this forum that has made that posssible).
I now have a couple of questions which are niggles rather than full blown problems.
THe first is my master keeps reverting to a replica version of itself, l press the reinstate master and it keeps it as the master for a period but it keeps dropping the master status. Firstly any ideas why ? and secondly how do l stop it keep changing?
Next every now and again synchronisation slows a relicants version down to the point that it VERY slow to open (almost like it is on a VPN itself not a local copy) No amount of synchronation from their end fixes it, however it would appear that a synchronisation from my end solves the problem.
I have a problem retrieving my Design Master. I regularly backup my DB onto a separate hard drive. And in doing so have lost my designing capabilities. I have tried replicating and retrieving the DM per the help section, but I receive numerous error messages telling me Error accessing file, network connection lost rollback error, etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
HI everyone, I have a Sales Invoice form with a Receipts subform showing what receipts have been lodged against that invoice. It works fine as long as there is one receipt or more.
The problem is when no receipts have been lodged and there are no receipts to show in the subform. When I open the Sales invoice form I get a "you entered an expression with no value" error, then the Sales invoice form opens. I tried suppressing the warning with DoCmd.SetWarning False, but that hasn't worked.
There are total three tables tblInternal, tblExternal, tblCourses. Table tblInternal and tblCourses is one to many relationship by reference foreign key InternalID from tblCourses to tblInternal. If I just use these two table to set up Master form and subform in ACCESS, you can in subform Field Linker window of subform property Data tab select primary and foreign key to generate link between Master and subform. So if you select user name from tblInternal in Master form ComboBox, you can see the detailed information the user relates to.
Same relation between tblExternal and tblCourses.
Now I want to merger tblInternal, tblExternal to list user name in ComboBox by Union statement. But in SubForm Field Linked window I just see one primary key from one of these two tables instead of two primary keys from each table.
