Selecting Equal Amount Of Records

Jul 12, 2007

I was wondering if someone could help me.
I have a simple table with data that gets updated daily. I need to split the data into 5 equal parts for work distribution. Because the amount of records always changes I can not go by numbering so I need to go by percentage, to split it into 5 ( 20% ) parts. Please help.

Show Records That Dont Equal Todays Date!

Apr 11, 2006

One the face of it it sounds quite simple - i have a table that holds various bits of info about a customer but also a field that contains a holiday period - what i want to be able to do is show all records that do not equal todays date.

So if today was 11/04/06 - and one of my customers had 11/04/06
as one of his holiday days he would not appear on the report but all the others would.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Modules & VBA :: Possible For A Msgbox To List All Records Where A Field Equal To Value?

May 18, 2015

So I have a form for addresses that checks against a table of US zip codes, and throws up a warning if the City/State/Zip entered isn't found on the table. This works great. But I was wondering if there was a way to list the available combinations based on the zip code entered. I want the program to tell the user that the city is wrong, but here is a list of what it could be.Is it possible for a msgbox to list all records where a field = value?

What I want to do is have it so that if I pick "4+", it will show all records that have 4 stars and 5 stars and "3+", it will show records with 3, 4, 5 stars.

"Not Equal And Not Equal" Query Not Working

Apr 14, 2006

I am trying to run a query where one field has a Not Equal parameter AND another field has Not Equal parameter (for example, Product Code Not Equal "A" AND Client State Not Equal "NY)

The result of the above query are all records that have Product Code = "A" are missing from the result. I want some of the "A" Product Codes; I just want to exclude the ones where the Client state is NY.

The list of values for each field is too big to state it in a positive way (I would have to list all the other 28 product codes and all the other 49 states).

What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Any Limitation On Number Of Rows/records

Apr 2, 2008

Today a guy who has done some Access programming told me that an Access table has a limit on the number of records.

Whereas I was thinking the only limit is the 2 gig size.

Which one of us is correct here?

(Access 2003).

How Do I Delete Multiple Rows Or Records?

Apr 26, 2006

Is there a way to select several rows of records in a datasheet view of a table and delete all of the selected records?

Every time I try to delete more than one record at a time, I get the following message: "The Micorsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."

Then it will let me delete one record out of the selection.

I am the only one in that particular table at the time I am trying to delete the record.

Thanks in advance for your help...

Jul 19, 2005

Is it possible to add a row between rows on a form. I am creating a contact list containing phone numbers and groups. I dont want to sort the form out in ascending order, just by group order.

For example:
Joe Teacher (primary school) 12345
John Teacher (primary school) 67777
Ann Teacher (secondary school) 35555
Mary Teacher (secondary school) 388338
Sarah Nurse 373773
Tina Nurse 111111

Rob Footballer 888888

Any ideas would be great

Forms :: Display Records As Columns Instead Of Rows

Sep 12, 2013

I think the answer to this question is going to be a flat 'No', but here we go.

I want to have something like a datasheet, except with with records shown as columns instead or rows.

For clarity, a datasheet displays records as rows, like this:

field 1 field 2
record 1 record 1
record 2 record 2

I'm wanting to present the data the other way around, like this:

field 1 record 1 record 2
field 2 record 1 record 2

Just to complicate matters, the number of records to be displayed is variable, so it should add more columns as required.

About the only option I can think of is to create a subform with fields stacked in a column without labels, and try to dynamically stack the forms as needed, hooking them up to the correct data on the fly.

Alternately, I wondered if I could dynamically generate a recordset with each record containing the field value of multiple records. I can see myself getting into trouble trying to update data this way however.

Counting Records For Specified Time Periods In Multiple Rows

Dec 14, 2004

I have a MS Access database that tracks when packages are received, returned, etc from different agencies. I need to create a query or report that shows how many packages were received, returned, etc PER MONTH, PER AGENCY. I was able to create a query that listed all the "Date Pkg Rec'd" dates for October (Between #10/1/2004# and #10/31/2004#), but I don't want a listing of all of the dates, rather a total of the records within those timeframes PER AGENCY. For example, APHIS 10, FAS 3, etc.

The other problem I have is I need this done across many columns without excluding those records without an October date (for example) in them. For example, I could have a "Date Pkg Rec'd" date in October, but not an October date listed in the "Date Pkg Returned" column.

Basically, I need the simpliest way to generate monthly "record totals" for several fields.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Compare Several Hundred Rows Against Other Rows

Nov 21, 2005

Not sure if what I want to do is possible, or at least possible the way things are set up.

I have a massive table - c. 6 million rows. It contains data along these lines:

Plan#, Item, Price, Description, Colour, Value, Location, etc.

The primary key would be Plan# + Item. Each Plan# has approximately 1,000 Items, and there is only 1 Item per Plan#. There are only a limited number of Items (c. 1500) and all or only some Items might be assigned to the Plan#. All items under each unique ID# belong together, sort of in a set. So this huge table has approx. 6,000 unique sets (based on Plan#).

To add to the confusion, Item A under Plan#1 may have different information (Price, Description, Colour, etc.) from Item A under Plan#2. I know this isn't a great way to set up data but this is what I have to work with.

Over the years it's possible that the exact same combination of Items with identical values might have been set up for multiple Plan#s. What I need to do is find any Plan#s which have the exact same combination of Item, Price, Description, etc. So if Plan#R has 200 rows and Plan#S has 201 rows, it automatically doesn't match. If Plan#R has 200 rows and so does Plan#T, all information in each record must match between the two Plan#s (with the exception obviously of Plan#).

I don't think this is possible, and if it is I am sure it's not going to be easy. So far the best I can do is to come up with finding duplicates on Item, Price, Description, etc. but that's only one record at a time and doesn't tell me if the two Plan#s match.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!!

WHERE First Three Letters Equal Xyz

Sep 21, 2007

Hi there,

I have one question with regards to the WHERE part of an SQL query. I want to limit my query on datasets, where the first three letters of a certain field (which contains strings) equal "Exp". Is there a more efficient way than the following?

SELECT A.Date, A.Name
From tblA as A
WHERE A.Name="Exp_A" OR A.Name="Exp_B" OR A.Name="Exp_C";

Value In A Table Equal To The Sum Of Other Values

Dec 11, 2007

Hey.

Is there any way to make a field in a record automatically set it self so it's the sum of other values in the record

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1677/helphg9.jpg

That's an example what i want to do except i had to manually type in 25. Is there any way to get that so it does that automatically. I am happy to use forms or macros or anything as long as it occurs straight away after the data is inputted and not have to run something or open something up

Thanks in advance

Not Equal To & Grouping Query

Apr 28, 2008

I have Table as PL2008 and RPT2. Both tables have one column named PTUNID. My goal is to first Group, sum certain Columns in the PL2008 then match PTUNID from this Grouping to RPT2 Table's column PTUNID and then show the results which do not match.

I have written following Qry but what really happenning is its giving me all the results ( match and no match in both tables ) and Sum values are incorrect.

SELECT [PL2008].PTUNID, Sum([PL2008].[Total Hours]) AS [SumOfTotal Hours], Sum([PL2008].[Actual Cost]) AS [SumOfActual Cost], [PL2008].[PRFIELD]
FROM RPT2, [PL2008]
WHERE RPT2.PTUNID <> [PL2008].PTUNID
GROUP BY [PL2008].PTUNID, [PL2008].[PRFIELD];

Any suggesstion

Compare 2 Tables Where NOT EQUAL <>

Feb 7, 2006

It need to compare two tables where the ID Number is not equal. Specifically I need to update new poducts in a table, but only those ID#s that are not already listed.

I know how to compare two feilds where they are not equal...
i.e. [New_Table].[ITEM_NUM]<>[Old_Table].[ITEM_NUM]
...but I'm currently limited by the join properties in the tables, since I'm comparing IDs and not the feilds. ANY IDEAS?

Setting A Default To Equal Another Field

Oct 21, 2006

I have a membership database. A number of members go by their middle names or a nickname rather than their first name. I need to keep track of their real full names, but I want the new-record default of the preferred name field to equal the contents of the first name field. How do I set this in the table design? The table already has 1400 records, and it would be quite a job to manually copy each first name to the preferred name field, a job I would rather avoid.
