1.st Job:
I have an access 2003 db. I want to implement barcode system to the DB in which I can print barcodes in any kind of barcode printer and also when imputing an order read data from barcode scanner etc.
2nd Job:
I want to put access db to a server so I can view reports, forms, imput data and retrive data from internet explorer window (with a password).
I will give my DB to you so you can work on it. Please do the pricing seperate for each job.
Please PM or Reply if you have more than 500 posts. PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO DO IT.
I'd like to know how to implement a pop-reminder that runs reminding the user of the database of :
1. some to-do actions for the current day or, for example, a week ahead of a certain event, that is related to some date previously entered in a table.
2. this should be within the access database.
3. I saw something like that in the [URL]... website, but actually couldn't understand it.
is there a way i can use substitution variables in access 2007, i wrote a query that returns rows which have a word okeu in them but i want to use substitution variables so that i can retrieve any word i want and if the word i want is not there i want to pop a message saying word not there its easier to do it in oracle sqlplus but how can i apply it in access using sql queries? This is my sql i made in access
Code:
SELECT MENU.NAME_REC, MENU.C_REC, AUTO.C_GROUP FROM MENU, AUTO WHERE (((MENU.NAME_REC)="okeu"));
I want to be able to put a barcode in a field that when a reader scans the barcode it records the current time. Need it for access control to record who is in and out of the office. Reading other threads I understand it may be possible in Dlookup.
I am using a barcode font in order to generate a number as a barcode on my report records. In order for my barcode scanner to read the barcode it needs an asterisk at the beginning and at the end.
So, if my record ID is 62 - in order for the barcode to be displayed correctly, it needs to be on the report as *62* .
Without digressing into a discussion on barcode methods in Access, how can I precede and succeed each ID number field with an asterisks?
My problem is I need to make it easy for my users by authenticating themselves once when they open the database. User-level security is adequate for that job, but when I need to use the authentication information for connection string, I'm a bit antsy about storing it somewhere in Access, as I understand that passwords shouldn't be stored in the database itself (and as far as I can tell, it's not even encrypted or hashed!)
I am wondering if converting it to MDE would be sufficient to encrypt the password or will it still be apparent using a hex editor? I also know that Jet can try to use its own security to authenicate to the back-end, but not sure what I need to do to prompt Jet to pass along the credentials.
Alternatively, would it be better to somehow implement login using backend's security model, if even possible?
One of users of supermarket is running my db successfully since long. But due to the change of time & his progress in business, he expanded his supermarket and it is becoming difficult to use the keyboard to enter the digits for the price.
Hence he asked me to make db able to read barcode on the items so the transaction would take very little time.
To be frank, I do not have any experience about barcode reader how to implement it with Access db.
What kind of barcode readers are available that would EASILY set with Access db? R They really work with Access db? What steps I need to carry out to implement it?
Please advice if anyone of you has any idea in this regard.
My client is a baseball league who started a Kids Club which has membership cards that have a barcode and their own specific number to monitor the number of times that the KidsClub members come to the games. They don’t have any software to go with the cards though. They asked me if I could help. I created a simple table in Access to capture the name, address, telephone, email, number of games attended. The cards have a barcode on them, and they would like to be able to scan the card with a USB handheld scanner and have the number of games attended field to be updated by the scan. Each card has its own number that is programmed into the barcode, which could be the primary key for Access. Can you offer any assistance in how to get the scan of the card to update the "number of games attended" field I created based upon the barcode number?
I'm currently developing an MS Access (2010) application and connected a barcode scanner to it for reading barcode information.
Everything seems to work well for what concerns capturing the data into a field, but what I would like to do is to populate a complete form once the barcode has been captured and filled-in in the specific "barcode" field. The data that should be populated in the form comes from different tables.
How to send an enter after the barcode data has been captured? Objective is to read data from a barcode, which after an enter or update automatically populates the data in the form afterwards.
I designed an inventory control software and we are managing our stock through barcode scanning, it is working well although i have a problem to solve that i have put a combo box for scanning code 39 barcode, upon scan the barcode a code is entered into combo box and then we need to press the "ENTER" key to go for new record, we would like to ms access form to automatically go to new record when a code input from scanner.
I have our primary web based inventory system that I am exporting to Excel and using this as an import to Access for the main raw data for my database. This being inventory it changes daily so I am updating this table every day. When I try to append the table it ads all the records. I am wanting an easy way to add only the new records/take out the ones that are no longer there. Basically update the table with what is currently there. The only have I have found to do this is by running non-matching queries and update queries.
I have a Splash Screen type deal that loads after the user logs in I wanted to know if there was a way that I could add a Loading Bar that would say different things like Are you having a nice day?
Someone, who is no longer working at out organisation, created a system in Access which we are trying to get into, however the creater put on some security which will not let us open the system to alter. Is there a way of getting into this?
I have a main form (A) with a subform that is another form with a datasheet(A_SUB)
On the form A is an undo button which rewinds any changes that occur to A that I do not wish to commit. However when I make a change to A_SUB the changes are not rewound. I considered implementing an UNDO for A_SUB but this is messy. What would be a better solution?
hi i am trying to make a quiz system using ms access i want to select 30 questions randomly from a questionbak of 100 or more also i need to select 3 answers randomly including the corect answer from answer bank that has 5 possible answers for each question
how to best implement a form for this very simple database (attached). I have a database that keeps track of just first names and colors. Not every first name needs a color assigned to it, and vice versa.
I want my continuous form (fmFirstColor) to show all first name records and have a drop-down to assign a color for each record individually. That's it -- two fields. With this form, I want to be able to create new first name records with or without colors assigned to them, and I want to be able to edit first names and change what colors are assigned for each name.
Again, very simple and small database, but I'm not sure where to run with this. I want to keep everything normalized and within best practice procedures. Is the junction table necessary or can it even be used in this instance?
I have a system DSN, pervasive ODBC engine interface. In Access 2003 I can link to the DSN but can only link to some of the files. This started when I changed to a new computer. Before, I had a link to the same database using Access 2002 with no problems.
Hi, I have been given an Access database to maintain and it has some performance issues. I have been looking through this forums for recommendatons regardng size etc but didn't really find anything.
It is all in one file (might consider splitting it..) and it has about 350 forms, 300 database queries, 130 database tables and 200 Macros!! Filesize something around 200 MB.
In one of the forms there is a drop down that when changed refreshes two other dropdowns. I have chyecked the queris used and they are really fast but it still takes at least 6-7 seconds for the 2 dropdowns to reload! I don't know if it is due to the way it is done, the VB code calls a macro that calls a query. Personally I wouldn't have done it like that but there has been about 2 years since I did anything complicated with access..
Or is it the size/complexity of it that makes it slow? Does anyone have experince of a similar system?
My office computer, along with the phone system, printers etc took a lightening strike last week. The hard drive survived but not the computer. I was able to get the office access db onto a new system but now I get errors when running it. When opened, the main menu appears. Whoopee! Not so fast. When I select an item, I get "the expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following Automation error. The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure]There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro"
Pressing the button a second time does not produce the error and opens the correct form. This form works properly. The second problem is with a second report form that opens properly. This form expects dates and accepts them but when I try to print the report, access closes with no error message.
I have made this sql statement in VBA where rubriek = a variable but I dont know how to implement a variable in a nested query.
SELECT "rubriek, SUM(verkoopprijs) as prijzen FROM voorwerp (inner join VoorwerpInRubriek on voorwerp.voorwerpnummer = VoorwerpInRubriek.voorwerp) inner join Rubriek on rubriek.rubrieknummer = VoorwerpInRubriek.rubriekOpLaagsteNiveau where rubriek in (select rubrieknummer from rubriek where rubriek = variable name ) group by rubriek"
Do I have to treat it as a normal select query or is there something speical that I have to do ?
First post, so I hope I'm following the post-etiquette!
Anyway, I've just been employed by a company who still uses access 2.0 and lotus smartsuite.
Basically I'm gonna have to migrate a few of their backbone databases to access 2000+
I've managed to find the old Microsoft access 2.0 book in the company amazingly, which is a help.
I was just wondering if anyone knows any good sites for migration, or any particular problems that may be encountered. I'm just doing some background work at the moment, this won't be happening for a few weeks (hopefully!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'll just take this opportunity to say that I've found the site very useful in the last few weeks and hope I can contribute in the future when I break out of newbie status! -Spud.
Through word of mouth I hear that you can creat a link that can go from Access and link to the personal company system. Is this true? If it is, is there a standard code to use?
Code: ID studentname lectureplace lecturesubject 1 jack A Biology 2 steve A politics 3 jack B math 4 steve A math 5 jack B politics 6 joe A politics . . . . . . . . 154 Jane B Geography
We need a query to implement two criteria to extract the following records:
1-Show lectureplace A AND politics lecturesubject 2-Show only those with lectureplace B regardless of the subject
In case the query is run we will have the following result:
Code: ID studentname lectureplace lecturesubject 2 steve A politics 3 jack B math 5 jack B politics 6 joe A politics
