Hi! I'm working in Access 2007, and am having difficulty figuring out how to do the following.
I purchased some pretty .ocx buttons that I want to use in my db. I can't figure out how to import them for use. No, I don't want to just copy and paste them in. Any ideas? I hate the ugly, unprofessional looking command buttons in Access. Thank you!
Hello all, I've looked at the examples of custom navigation buttons people have created. Some are better than others, but none of them are fully functional, in my opinion.
I like Stephen Leban's technique; manipulating a Parent's .Recordset from a SubForm. My goal is to create a set of instantly reusable custom navigation buttons.
However, even his code lacks Save and Delete buttons.
In studying this problem, I noticed something about the built-in navigation buttons that nobody seems to have addressed, even those who claim their button set mimics "exactly" the built-in buttons. None do.
And that is that when clicking the "New" button (built-in), the New and Next buttons are disabled. This is fine and expected.
Then, when any field on the form is changed (form made Dirty?), the built-in New and Next are instantly enabled.
I am using Microsoft Access 2010. It provides great filtering and sorting options in the ribbon for any object. But what if I hide the ribbon and want to create custom buttons on the form to do the filtering and sorting job? There are some filter options available in macros but are not quite like the ribbon's own Filter button. When the Filter button is clicked from the Robbin, a filter menu pops-up under the active field, which doesn't happen when I try to do it using Macro functions like "Apply Filter" or "Set Filter" etc. I want to have that big "FILTER" button from the Ribbon on my form.
To briefly explain my database; it is a bespoke referral management system within a hospital. Each record on the database contains patient demographic information, as well as information on their referral (i.e. date of referral, date of assessment, date of commencing treatment, discharge date etc.) Therefore, the same patient will appear multiple times in the database, with each separate record corresponding to a unique referral pathway.
The database forms are split to show patient information at the top, with referral information shown in a subform. I am trying to add navigation buttons to the subform that will allow the user to scroll through the referrals corresponding to the patient currently displayed on the main form.
Each patient has a uniquely identifiable number associated with them, and so it seems straightforward enough in my mind to have a button that will search for the record in the database where the patient's number matches the patient number of the current record, and where the referral date is minimum (for "First Referral"), maximum but less than current (for "Previous Referral"), minimum but greater than current (for "Next Referral"), and maximum (for "Last Referral").
I am stumped: After importing from an outside source (an excel spreadsheet) I have to change the short-date format that I have just imported into a very specific custom format: "yyyymmdd" Ex: 20040828. How do I convert into this new format? Help will be greatly appreciated...
I would like to automate something presently done on a one-by-one basis. Here: a number of text files(containing data) are to be exported into an MS Excel file, with each text file to occupy a different worksheet. Presently, the idea is to use the Data/import external data/import data feature of MS Excel for importing the text files one-by-one into newly created worksheets(within the same workbook).
I would appreciate some advice on how to go about creating a useful MS Access application to achieve the above. I have checked the available Macros in MS Access, but I could not find one to suit my purpose. can anyone pls assist, on how I can get started?
hello everyone, i really need some detailed help as the deadline is approaching and I need to find a solution for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I currently have a batch file that ftps a text file from a Red Hat Linux Server to my W2k C:. I would like to make another command in the batch file that imports this text file into an existing access table. I would like the text file to repopulate the table everytime it is imported. I do not want the data added on to the existing data in the table.
Hi all. I have tried searches on here and via google but can't find a difinitive answer to my question. What i would like to do is create a custom help file that will run when the user requests it. I know there is a property option to set a custom help file within a form but i am unsure of the correct process to do this to get it working.
Could someone please help me understand what needs to be done.
I'm new to Access, just finding my feet. I've created a query to hopefully find duplicate entries in a database that has been given to me. When I try to run the query however I get the error message...
You tried to execute a query that does not include the specified expression 'Count(*)>1 And IIf([S_Flow]=1,[S_fromManhole] & " " & [S_toManhole],[S_toManhole] & " " & [S_fromManhole])=' as part of an aggregate function.
This, unfortunately, means absolutely nothing to me! Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am just having a heck of a time, in trying to make a custom help file.
Has anyone had any luck? I sure would like to see a sample database, showing a custom help file. I just about tried everything, but not to smart about setting one up. I have tried the wizzard as well. I know where I get hung up is, trying to map the help file, to the Help ID number.
I am an Access noob. I've used it in school, but can only barely remember what I learned.
Anyway, I have a simple dilemma.
I made a table that list various foods I eat and their nutritional info such as protein, fat, calories, etc.
Now I want to make another table where I can reference the first table and have it automatically fill in the nutritonal fields. So if today I had a ham sandwich and a coke, I could just type in Ham sandwich and coke in each field and all the nutritional info would automatically be transferred from the first table.
Now I already made the first table that has all the info for all the foods I eat, but I am having trouble linking the second table to get its info from the first. I followed the MS wizard and I thought I had setup the relationship right, but when I type in ham or coke into the Meal field in the second table, none of the values are automatically filled in.
Thanks guys, I am getting a headache here.
And.....if its not to hard, is there a way to get access to add up the totals of each column? So that I would basically make a new table for each day and it would add up all my calories, fat, protein, etc for the day?
Just wondered what way would be the best to do this. eg macro
I got 1 tbl which has questions in it and the user goes in and has to answer them. I was gonna have another table which has the answrs. Also wen they finish i want the system to be able to chek between the answer they have inputted and the asnwer which i have put in another table to see whther tey are right or not. i then want it to add up the correct answers and say how many they got right.
In Access 2010 I made a custom ribbon. The File Tab still gives users access to features that should not be available to them such as: Compact & Repair, Encrypt etc.I spent a few hours looking for a solution but found none that works. It does not seem to be possible to hide the File Tab, but is there a way to hide the options it reveals?
I have recently began using Access, and i have created a database that has what i call user "Profiles" or contact information for around 63 people. What i'd like to do is set up a form or a Report that has buttons with maybe pictures or just a persons name, when its clicked it opens up their "Profile" which shows a picture and all their information. is this possible?
It is my understanding that a custom macro was built to pull text data from a file and import it into Access in the appropriate fields. This macro no longer works and will return the following error message:
"License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in design mode."
It only gives an option to click OK. When you do it shows a box called "Action Failed" that lists the macro name, condition, action name, and arguments with three button to click on the right of the box: "Step" "Halt" and "Continue". It appears that only the "Halt" button is available to be clicked.
Does this sound like an issue with the Access license or whatever license the macro might have? We're trying to decide if it's possible to restore the functionality of the macro.
I have MANY scanned image (.tif) files in multiple folders based on certain criteria. I need to find a way to import only the names of these (.tif) files into a table or even into an excel spreadsheet. Since they are scanned images you can not do a simple copy / paste.
I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas how this could be mastered
I have SQL code that would import an Excel file as follows:
Code: Str = "SELECT [Ed_TEST$].* INTO [tblAct_Import_File] FROM [Ed_TEST$] IN '" & impFile & "' [Excel 8.0; HDR = YES;];" cn.Execute Str
I do not want to use do not want to use "DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet" I am finding do to rounding some figures are braught in a little off. However, I have found that if I use code.
I was working on project that involved writing the data into Access database using a C program. The insert query execution was taking very long, so I decided to write to a .csv file and then import it to one of the desired tables. This worked very fast as compared to directly writing to the DB. Now I want to automate this process. The user should specify the file name at the command prompt and I want to call a script so that the script automatically imports the contents of the .csv file into the access DB. I already have connection established to the DB. All I am looking for is the script that can automatically import the .csv file into access DB. Please help me out.
I have an excel file worksheet(player info sheet)that the user would input information. I then copy that info into another worksheet(player info) in the data fields that I have defined in Access. I then open up my Access database and do a file-get external data-import. I then select my excel file and the worksheet named "player info". I get the import fine but there is a table that gets created that is called: 'Player Info Sheet$'_ImportErrors. I cannot figure out why. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I am importing a csv file with addresses and Post Codes on into a Properties Table. However, when I import the csv file, there is another field in the table called Area. I want the import routine to somehow use a lookup table that will contain all Post Codes and what Area they are in and then insert the relevant Area in each record in the properties table. I have tried using DLOOKUP in an update query but this just inserts the first Area in the lookup table into all records in the Property Table.
A curious problem, I import CSV data into an AC97 table and this has worked without any problems for years. However we have recently taken on a new member of staff and one of the fields being loaded are his initials 'SF' and this results in Import errors. I tested any other letters 'ME','MF' etc. and no problem - is 'SF' some kind of reserved word ?. Simple solution - call him 'SEB' not 'SF', but I wondered if anybody else has come across this ?
