In our company we send off a lot of reports for a given sample. Sometimes the office folks need to do a specialized report with tables and other formatting. They would like to be able to a: be able to have another report where they could just write stuff, comments, etc about the sample and b: be able to import these word documents that have the tables and other formatting. If we could not use word at all that would be great but I don't think there is a way to do the formatting necessary in access. So my question is: how do I import a word document and have it displayed in a form and then print on the report. I would like to store the whole document in one field in a table. (is this at all possible?) I have searched this forum and haven't found what I'm looking for. Thank you for any help.

Jun 6, 2007I have a database with existing tables.I now want to add a whole bunch of records into my access tables.A lot of the data is repeated, and lends itself to my doing it in excel with it's better copy and paste abilities, and it's ability to easily increment alphanumeric fields.I can't seem to succeed in append importing to the bottom of my access table from my excel spreadsheet. All columns are the same.Can this be done, and if so how please?I'm on XP Pro with Office 2003 Pro.I'm also very much a newbie in Access.

Aug 14, 2012I'm not sure where this question belongs but I need to give users the ability to create a small table in MSWord or another program, and then paste the table into a data field. An image of the table would be fine. But it needs to be user friendly.
If that's not possible they could just create a Rich Text document with text formatted in a table form with out gridlines. I would need about a 2000 character limit. Not sure if this is reasonable or not??

I have a text file with comma separated values. What I want is a single access query to import this text file into an access table. I know this can be done through import text wizard in access - but what I need is a single query.
I have done the same thing for transferring oracle data to an access table - but for text file to access, I am getting -7778 error.
This is the query I have written
SELECT * into MY_ACCESS_TBL from [odbc;Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};Dbq=MY_TEXT_FILE_PATH;].[MY_TEXT_FILE.txt];

Importing Excel Table To Access 2003

I was importing the large array of accounting data into Access from Excel through File - Get External Data - Import. Several columns contained tangible accounting data (e.g. registration numbers) that had different formats like "23423 34", "32-3545" and in some cases even contained letter constants. Therefore, I have assigned TEXT type to this column while importing and was sure that all values are going to be stored as text. However, what has happened is: 18307769 turned into 1.83078e+007! this means tangible accounting data that was used as a key field for further linking turned into bull&&$%! :-(
I know this problem is very simple, so please, can you give me a hint as to how do I solve it in the future.

Word :: Sizing MS Word Table To Same Size As Recordset
Aug 14, 2014My end goal is to populate a pre-existing table in an MS Word document with records from a query. The easiest way I've found (through scouring the internet) is to start with the code below (ran during OnClick() even in Access) to get the table the same size as the recordset:

The code will shrink the table down just fine if the table has more rows than the recordset +1 (for header column). My hangup with this is the last line ("Selection.InsertRowsBelow 5") isn't executing; rows are not being added to the table. I get no errors -- it just does nothing. I set it as "Selection.InsertRowsBelow 5" arbitrarily just to see if it would even add rows, and sure enough it's not.

I have an MS Access table that currently links into word as a mail merge. Great!
Sample data as follows:
Tutor Student
Mr A Donald Duck
Mr A Mickey Mouse
Mr A Minnie Mouse
Mrs B Joe Bloggs
I want to produce a mail document that allows me to address each tutor separately, along with the respective student names in a grid.
Now I've setup the document, but when I view each document it produces the list of all students for each tutor.
e.g.
Dear Mr A
Your students are:
Donald Duck
Mickey Mouse
Minnie Mouse
-------------------
Dear Mrs B
Your Students are:
Joe Bloggs
Is this at all possible?

Importing Multiple Excel Sheets Into An Access DB/table
Oct 18, 2006I've been trying to load data from multiple excel worksheets in multiple workbooks into one table in Access. The first one loads fine, but after that I get errors and can't load anything else. All of the sheets are in the same format, so that shouldn't be the problem. Every solution I've tried has been a bust. All I want is to take all of my data and put it into one big database. Any suggestions?

Importing From Notepad Into Access Table - Date Format Query
Jul 24, 2005I am importing data that has been put onto Notepad into an Access table - this works fine except the date in notepad comes across as a date and a time. When I put the table into a query and ask for the date to be Between [Specify date 1] and [Specify date 2] - does the user have to then put 7/02/2005 00:00:00 AM and xxx. I have tried this but it doesn't return all values. I have also tried just the dates but this doesn't return all values either - any ideas?

Sep 13, 2007I have a stock control database which i have nearly completed. This has Manufacturer, which is linked to products, which is linked to Sub Product(which also has field partCode). i.e. Manufacturer1 can have 3 products, and each of these products could have 5 subsystems and partcodes. Each partcode is unique to that subsystem/product/manufacturer.
I then have a pricing spreadsheet in excel, which has many tabs. A new column has been added for each item for Manufacturer,Product,Subsystem and Partcode.
I need to import these manufacturers,products,subsystems and partcodes, but into the tables with the correct relationships, i.e. product1 and product2 are products of manufacturer1 and so cannot come under manufacturer2, and so on.

I created another table (tableB) to capture the data that I require for my report.

I have created this command button from tools that output the access report into word file. However, it prints all the record into word file, is there a way that it would print one record or selective record at a time. I mean, lets just say if I am on record 3 after I am done I press the button and I don't want it to output 1 to 3 record just the 3rd one. Is it possible to do it like that or not?

I have a question to ask you all. This has been killing :( me I have not been able to find an answer. :confused:
Lets say I have a form open. In this form, there are text boxes that have a persons name, address, an account number, and phone number. This part is the easy part.
Now, what I would like to do is some how when you click on the account number, (it doesn't have to be a link) it will open up another form that shows available Word Documents for only that account number.
Different account numbers will have different Word Documents available to them. When this new form opens, then the user can pick a Word Document that is available to them.
Please help! Your help would mean a lot! :)

May 4, 2006I have given up on doing this since I am obviously stupid, but I have a word document that has most things static and about 6 fields that are dynamic. I would like to develop a small GUI in access that the user can input the data into the fields and then click the print cmdbutton that I create and it will open the Word doc, fill the fields that need filled, then print the form.
I tried a mail merge, but I really need this to be a seamless process.
If I use a report in Access, will it hold Word formatting?
These are legal documents that are being printed out.
I wanted to do it with some type of web based app, but my web server is Windows and not Unix so I cannot use CGI.
Any ideas on what I should do?
