I have a text field called Notes - where we will add notes about the particular job. What I want to do is have it a locked field with a button 'Add Notes'. When clicked it will insert the date and the user name of the person and then let them type the notes. When they move to the next record - I want that field to be locked again.
I've got some of it down but still not right. I can get it so it inserts the date but it overwrites what is already there. How can I get it to just add the data - not overwrite? And I can't get it to lock when they move to the next record.
I created an update query to a text field in a table. However, it inserts the data at the end of the string and I need to insert it at the beginning of the string that already exists. How do I move it to the front instead of the end?
I have a form with two text boxes in which I would like to insert the current date automatically when the text box has got focus. Default value doesn't work because the current date may occur on two different days, and the default has to be null until the current date is inserted.
Can someone walk me through the process? Thank you.
i have just started to use access and i know how to insert the current date into a field using date() but i am not sure will this change the date everytime i open the form ? i want to create a form for invoices that shows the date the invoice was created and doesnt change if i re open for editing,
i have 1 table name "table1"and i have in this table 4 fields
1) id 2)pay 3) tax 4) total
The id is primary. I have form in this form i have 3 text box "pay" "tax" "total". i want to insert some number to pay and number to tax and make some button to make calculation of the 2 text box and it will show me the result in the total and insert them to the fields.
This is really hard to explain, but basically I'm trying to use a combo box that has a control source different than it's record source to update another field on the record source. For example, the combo box pulls it's options from a table called "NameList" and when you select an option from the combo box it updates a table called "Results". On this form there are form fields that are bound to the "Results" table. What I want to happen is, when I make a certain selection from the combo box, I want one of the fields bound to "Results" to automatically display text from a different table. Is this even possible? If this is a horrible explanation, please let me know. I need serious help on this one, I've been working on this for a day and a half now. If anyone has any ideas on how to do it a different way, please make suggestions. Thanks in advance!
- Josh
Also, another thing I forgot to mention, this may help anyone who tries to help me. This "Results" form is basically used as a log utilizing a report to display a sequence of events. I've included a screenshot for visual affect. I have censored a few things for privacy reasons.
I have an application that has a text box on a form that points to a memo data type.
On the form, I wish to allow the users to insert the system date with a short-cut key. (Trying to use Ctrl-D).
I have coded a Keypress Event that checks for the Ctrl-D. "Current" code is below: =============================== Private Sub PM_Comments_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer) Dim MyString As String Dim MyDate As Variant
'Check to see if user pressed Ctrl-D If KeyAscii = 4 Then
MyDate = Date MyString = Format(MyDate, "Short Date") & ":" SendKeys ("") ' Perhaps I need to dump the Ctrl-D in the buffer??? SendKeys (MyString)
End If
End Sub ================================== I say current because I have tried MANY variations. The code is executing properly on the Ctrl-D. I have watched the variables in debug mode and they contain what I want, namely "mm/dd/yy:" for the current date. Problem is, it inserts the TIME in the memo field. And it is the system time, not the integer of the date formatted into the time.
Crazy thing is, in debug mode, the darn thing will do what I want and insert the date in the VB editor page. Just won't do it in the memo field on the form.
We have a memo field that we use for on going notes. Each day they may type more notes. Is there a shortcut key, a button, or a way to automatically enter the date and time before the notes?
I have created a database based off of 1 table that holds all of my data. I need to create a form that queries off of the following columns from my table.
Acceptance Date
Sales Rep Name Sales Region
I want to make a form which searches between a beginning and end date range, Sales Rep Name & Sales Region that can be pulled from these 3 queried selections all from the same form.
I have a default text value in a field. When I tab to go that field, it is highlighted. But for this specific field I want to go to show the cursor to the left of the text and with it unhighlighted, so I can add text to the beginning.
I have set up a customer database for our small electronics company and i have built a form called contact history. In the form i show a few details about the customer (name phone number etc) but the bulk of the form is a large text box for a contact log.I would like to have a button on the form that takes me to the contact log field, inserts todays date and allows me to update whats been said to the customer etc. I have it working using setfocus and date functions however it erases any information already in the field. Is there a way to skip to the end of the field and insert a new line, then add the date and allow me to begin typing?I would like the end result to look like the following.
16/02/2013: Introduced Myself and the company, spoke to joe bloggs and agreed to call back on 28/02/2013. 28/02/2013: returned call to Joe Bloggs but was out of office, will call back 01/03/2013. 01/03/2013: Spoke to Joe Bloggs and have arranged for him to visit us on 10/03/2013.
I have done a half-dozen searches and only gotten 1 option.
There is a simple way to have the cursor at the beginning or end of a field when it arrives in a new field.
I saw the VBA code aboyt setting the length. There is an easier, simpler way to set it so that you don't have to apply the vba code to every single indiviual field.
I remember learning about it here on this forum, but now can't find it.
Hi. I have two forms that both look at the same table. One form is for inputting data and the second for is for closing the job. I want to create a button that when clicked automatically changes a field on the input form and also fills in the current date on a field displayed on the closeout form. I then want it exit my two forms and take me back to my switchboard. Can anyone out there help?..Thanks.
On my form have a status field with about 7 options to choose from a combo box, i have these values set in another table. What i would like is for my other field, which is a date, to automatically change whenever the status field is changed. So i know how long ago the status field was set. So basically if i change the status to complete i want the date to then set the date and time now.
In namefield_AfterUpdate, I check for duplicate name entries and notify the user if any are found - they are prompted as to whether the duplicate was accidental or intentional and continue working. This works fine for normal circumstances.
However, if the user updates namefield so that the value is a duplicate of an existing name in the database, but then presses Cancel (or Delete), then the namefield_AfterUpdate is fired and what button they pressed. The button Click code does not run first.
How can I tell if the user updated the name, but then realized they didn't want to save, and then clicked 'Cancel' (or any button) and the code should really skip the duplicate check validations/messages?
I'm trying to pull a date from a table into a text box on a form tab control using DLookup and I just can't figure out what is wrong with my DLookup expression:
=DLookUp("DateOrdered","tDateOrdered","PrNumber=" & [PrNumber]) ----- (DateOrdered is short date, PrNumber is text, db is split Access 2013)
Whats missing in this expression? I've tried every criteria variant I could find but to no avail.
I have several comboxes where I'm using date/time input masks. When I go to enter data in the field the cursor is situated at the right end of the box. I have to backspace to the beginning of the field to enter the data. How do I position the cursor to the beginning (left side) of the field?
I'm having trouble with a field on my DB. I have a field named zip code. It has a limit of 5 characters that are only number values, I'm not having any trouble with entering information at all, it's easiest when I just tab into the cell from the previous one. However, the part I am having trouble with is when I click within the field and the cursor, let's say, is at the second character line, and I enter the zipcode 15222, it'll only enter 1522 since my cursor is at the second line.
How can I fix this so that wherever my cursor is, within the box it'll type the full 5 digit zip code? My boss is insistent on making sure that even if he clicks towards the right of the box, it should type the full number.
I have a strange problem of converting a date field stored as dd/mm/yyyy to a text[8] field. Example 01/06/1947 should be converted to 01061947. What is the easiest way of doing it? I tried changing it to first to ddmmyyyy and then change it to text, but it did not work. Can someone help me please? Many thanks,
Hi, I have created a table with a column called lastlogon, which stores the date of the last logon from windows active directory for a user id. Everything is being imported from a text file. Most of the time there is a valid date of format, "6/8/2006 1:10:23 PM" . I can declare the column as a Date/Time with that format, but sometimes if the user has never logged on, the source data will "never" for that column.
I have resorted to creating the column as a text field and trying to "convert" the valid fields to real dates for use in queries. In a very similar situation, I had the same problem with numbers and text. There is another column that keeps track of the password age, and it will either contain a number (in days) or the string, "NeverChanged". I was able to use the Val() function to get workable results. Is there something similar that can be done for dates to do an expression conversion but still store it as a text field so that I can accomodate for the occasional string, "never" ?
There are ~25,000 records that are being imported so I don't want to simply do a search and replace the "never" string with a bogus date.
I have field in my form and the entry is required. The data type is date. I need to keep the date type as date. My problem is if the date is not available, the user has to enter "Nor Available". Is there any way I can achieve this? What are the other option available to me? The reason is this record will be exported to a pdf form which requires the Date or the text "Not Available" in the specified pdf field.
Well I have been searching but have not exactly found the answer I need so:
I have a linked table in my database. One of the fields on the source table is a date field but the data type is Text. So there is data in the field that represents dates but they are formatted as text like this: 090506 101106 120506
I need the field data to behave as a date, any ideas? I can't change the source data type.
Then...at some point I want to produce a query that shows all records with a date earlier than the current days date...in pointers in the right direction on that will be appreciated also.
