Is There A Way To Alphabetize Table Field Names When You Look At Them In Design Mode?

Hi.
Other than manually moving fields in a table in design mode, can I get the fields alphabetized?

My employer wants me to update and revise a form with almost a hundred controls. All of the information is stored in a single table.
Is there a way that I can (easily) sort the order of columns in the table to alphabetize them? I know how to sort and filter records, is there a way to sort the columns other than the manual click and drag solution?
Note: I know that the database I'm working on for this project is not normalized. My employer isn't concerned with normalization. I've made as many corrections to the table as possible, already, but some things just won't be fixed.
I have several subform tabs and one that I have updated no longer shows up when I run the form on Form mode. The tab is there but no content or details of the subform
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a form/subform that requires some fields from the Switchboard for its criteria. Last week due to no action on my part, it started asking for those values as Parameters instead (Forms!Data!txtInspDate), etc! The new form loads, but of course it is blank with no data. This happens if I load it from a command button or from the navigation sidebar... UNLESS I first load the switchboard in Design Mode, go to VBA window, then reload the Switchboard in Form Mode and press the button. From then on until I close the database, everything works fine!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had to use my first crosstab queries.
I now understand that when opening and saving crosstab queries Access (2010) runs that query to ascertain the column names. Unless you hard-code them. Running the query takes at least 20 minutes.
I have hard-coded where I can, but one report takes arbitrary dates so I can't hard-code them.
I believe that turning off AutoCorrect might make a difference to whether the query runs - but I don't want to turn it off.
Hi,
I am using a combo box on my form to allow users to search through the records in my table. The problem is I would also like them to be able to add to the database. How can i make my table organize itself alphabeticaly without using a query so that users can use the combo box to look through the database but also be able to add new records. Thanks in advance!
I have an old db. I would like to see the forms and tables so I can select them and make changes. I know there is a way to access those items on startup but I have forgotten how. When I bring up the db I see a form and I can get into VB for that form but I cannot see any embedded table, forms reports, etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a form which was locked down (ie Allow additions, allow edit and allow deletions were all set to no) on the Form property. I want to change this to allow edits so in design mode I changed the Allow Edits property to Yes.
I then went to Form view and was able to update fields on the form. When I exited the form it asked me if I wanted to save the changes so I clicked yes.
On going back into the form I can no longer update the fields I could before. Going into design mode I can see that Allow edits on the form property is set to no again.
What is happening here. There is nothing in the on load or other events to set this to no, besides this shouldn't change the form property should it?
I know I can get around it my setting the property in the form itself but why is the property getting reset in the first place.
Access 2010.
I have an application that when in design master shuts down when I attempt to open a certain form. I have traced the problem to a linked field from another table, by creating a new form and ommitting the said field, problem is its a required field!
If I copy the database (Backup) and run it as a replica it does not happen, if I then convert the replica to design master it happens.
Any suggestions please??
Steve
Is there a way to allow edits to the properties of objects/controls only in Design view and not in the Form View?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on the design mode of a query object, generally MS Access defaults to the GUI design view... but in this one application, the design view is pulling up queries in SQL mode first...
If I want to set it to the GUI design mode, I have to either hit design again or run the query then hit design to have it pull up in the regular design mode. Is there a setting or something I am missing? Seems that it only does this when the SQL code is reltively involved (i.e. the simpler queries pull up in the normal design view.
I want to extract the integer part of a string data as a single field.
How to apply self-defined function in Query Design Mode?
any hint is appreciated, thank you in advance~
Hi.
I have put much time in designing a form.
After exiting and saving it, I cannot now open it. Only the Page Header shows, and I cannot get into 'Design' mode. I have tried repairing and compacting to no avail.
Any ideas?
Russ
I am going into the Form Design mode
Click in the subform
I then set tab order by selecting the box and moving the field up.
Looks correct and then I click okay.
The subform does not change.
I go back into design mode, click in subform and select tab order and it looks correct????
I just finished a small Access-2013 database (accdb format).
Now I want to make it available to users.
How do I make an 'executable' (meaning that tables, forms, ... cannot be opened in design mode)?
I just imported all of my objects (tables, forms, etc.) into a brand new database file and all of my forms are now full screen instead of the size I set them to in design. What caused this? I can't get them back to their normal size.
I am using Access 2007 but imported files into 2003 .mdb file.

How it should look?
I'm working on a login form and *not thinking* I removed access to the submenu. I had already set the form up so that you either login correctly or exit the program. I'm working in code for the form and I know it's possible to reactivate the menu in code, I just don't know how. And I can't switch to design mode. The form is set up to not allow anything to happen until the correct login has been entered, and I either had a typo when I set up my test login or the program is bugged and only says it's incorrect....
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have the field names in a table be set by the values in another table? The desire being that for a database used in various locations, the local variations could be changed in one table which would then propagate that change throughout all the forms, reports, tables etc.
View 14 Replies View Relatedhello,
Recently I have started working for one of the company where I have to deal with one of the access file. this file has lots of tables containing many fields.
My question is
How can I get all the tables name, their fields and attributes in Microsoft Word file. I have tried opening table > design view and copy text but it doesn't work. also tries coping table and paste in in word file but it takes ages
any suggestion will be helpful
Thank you

Just a quickie- i hope. :rolleyes:
I am in the process of trying to merge two large databases. I have four tables that really should be one to work in the new DB. I just need to be able to print a list of fields in each table so that I can work on the new combined structure before making the changes. I know I can use the documenter but this produces a very comprehensive list which is much more than I need.
Is there anyway of producing a similar list without the detail, just showing the field names.
Thanks
I should change the Fields(1) and Fields(2) to the actual fields names.
field 1 should be EmployeeListID
field 2 should be ItemsID
PHP Code:
Dim rs As dao.RecordsetDim db As dao.DatabaseSet db = CurrentDbSet rs = db.OpenRecordset("tblEmployeeItems",
dbOpenDynaset)rs.AddNewrs.Fields(1) = Me.[lstAvailableEmployees]rs.Fields(2) = Me.
[lstAvailableItems]rs.Updaters.Closedb.CloseSet rs = NothingSet db = Nothing
I need to delete all the field names from my table so I can import a new excel file with different field name headings,
currently I run:
DoCmd.RunSQL "DELETE * from table1"
this deletes the data in the table, but not field names.
What Vba command will allow me to do this.
I am a new access user and I have several questions primarily can i relate field names to a primary key in another table?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am making a new Record in the design view of a table (creating a new field in the table), and I am assigning it a date type, is there a hotkey that will select the field properties sheet so that I can select the format of the field without having to move my mouse?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on an form (using Access 2000 and VBA) that stores registration information, along with events that were attending, in a table and later retrieves that same information from the table to display the regist. info, events attended, and allows the user to change any current info along with adding new/recently attended events to each record.
I am currently allowing a max of six events, along with event details, to be stored and I am running through six different if statements to match the Event_List (name of the combo box that contains "Event 1 Event 2...Event 6") to the appropreiate information in the table. I have started to simplify the code to remove the redundancy by running a Do While to to find the correct Event by using an integer variable that starts at 1 and is incremented until it matches the 7th character (the number portion) of the Event chosen from the Event_List. After this I want to use that integer variable to say what event information in the table to gather. My problem is this: I have tried many different varieties of the following code and I am unable to make it work. I had never used Access up until a week and a half ago, and a few days ago I went and bought the book "Access VBA Programming for Dummies" but it doesn't help for this problem. Here's part of the code:
Variables (Event_Name, PMT, Receipt, Payment_Type, PIF) refer to Form textboxes while the variables in the [] refer to table field names.
'------Code I'm Currently Working On-------
Dim intX As Integer
Dim EventVal As Integer
Dim strX As String
intX = 1
EventVal = Val(Mid(Event_List, 7, 1))
Do While EventVal <> intX And intX < 6
intX = intX + 1
Loop
strX = str(intX)
Dim E_Name As String
Event_Name = [Event strX ]
PMT = [PMT strX]
Receipt = [Receipt strX]
Payment_Type = [Payment Type strX]
PIF = [Paid In Full strX]
'-----Old Code That I'm trying to simplify-------
If Event_List = "Event 1" Then
Event_Name = [Event 1]
PMT = [PMT 1]
Receipt = [Receipt 1]
Payment_Type = [Payment Type 1]
PIF = [Paid In Full 1]
Camp_Site = [Camp Site 1]
Cabin_Number = [Cabin Number 1]
ElseIf Event_List = "Event 2" Then
Event_Name = [Event 2]
PMT = [PMT 2]
Receipt = [Receipt 2]
Payment_Type = [Payment Type 2]
PIF = [Paid In Full 2]
Camp_Site = [Camp Site 2]
Cabin_Number = [Cabin Number 2]
ElseIf Event_List = "Event 3" Then
Event_Name = [Event 3]
PMT = [PMT 3]
Receipt = [Receipt 3]
Payment_Type = [Payment Type 3]
PIF = [Paid In Full 3]
Camp_Site = [Camp Site 3]
Cabin_Number = [Cabin Number 3]
PLEASE HELP!!!!
I have a form with several data fields on it. I also have a button on the form that allows the user to duplicate a record . The reason for this duplication is so that if there will be an additional client record for the same customer, but only one piece of data will need to be changed, it's easier to copy the record and then change the one field.
However, I am getting the following message:
"some of the field names you tried to paste don't match fieldnames on the form"
and then not all data in all fields gets duplicated.
I need to figure this out, but am going nuts with it. If anyone has an idea or two they'd care to toss my way, I would be happy.
Thanks one more time, in advance!!
