Link Access Form To A Table Stoed On An Intranet Site
May 24, 2006
Dear all,
Does anyone know if ti is possible to link an access table to one stored on an intranet site? This is used for logging help desk calls and various locations need to look at it at the same time.
I have tried it and seems to work but I get a "Not a valid file name" message
I am thinking of putting my access database on a server and work with html files. I have heard about .asp.
Do I need programming knowledge and is there some good web site where I can learn how to convert my database and create html pages that can access my database?
I would like to use an Access database over an Intranet. What are the limitations of doing this? I want multiple individuals to be able to open forms and enter data. I would also want others to be able to run queries and reports on the database. Would I need to upsize to an Oracle database to run with multiple users? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
I want to consider ways of sharing an Access database within our company. This could be web-based via our intranet or done some other way.
I understand that Microsoft's preferred way of sharing via an Intranet is to use SharePoint. However, as we don't use SharePoint (we use Atlassian Confluence) the cost of that route would be prohibitive.
Any methods of sharing an Access database across, say, 20 people? Simultaneous read/write access would be required but in reality the usage will be low, so performance is not really an issue. I would like to consider web-based or other methods.
I have chosen Access 2013 simply because we use Office Professional 2013 and Access will be familiar to some developers. We could use a different product. But I would certainly prefer a tool that supports RAD design of forms.
I want to build a web site that people can access over the internet. I want the user to have the ability to run one of my Microsoft Access databases just as they would if the database was loaded on there PC. Is Microsoft Frontpage the answer or do you have any other recommendations of a web building software package?
If you're building a database to represent a web site architecture, what's a good way to design the tables?
Would you make a table for parent sections, and then another table for the first child of those sections, and then another table for children of that child and so on? Sounds clumsy to me. What happens if a parent section can be drilled down into 15 pages deep? You'd need 16 tables.
What I'm doing is building a test plan manager for a site that has varying levels of depth in each parent category and I'm trying to decide how to develop the input/browse form.
I am doing an assignment, which is fantasy football database and instead of entering the data i thought could i import the data from say another site which is updated regularly. Can it be done with VBA Access also wanted to link the database to a apache server. Any pointers on how to do this would be appreciated or if it is feasable. Have to have assignment in before Aprial.
I get XML's from a site and want to import the data to Access. If I use the native import then I get multiple tables and the data is a little jumbled. For instance: I get 1 table with track names and a different table for track numbers with no way to relate the to accurately. I would like to be able to parse out the XML and have it update my table as it goes so I have less "junk" in my DB. I just can't figure out how to call out the XML tag and tell it to copy that info to the correct field.
I have a master table with all of my Site Names in it. I have a collection table that when a barcode is scanned it records the site name as being received. I built a query that counts the number of times the site name has been received.
What I want to do is list all of my sites from the master then display the count next to the corresponding site name. This will identify those sites that did not send in an item. Is there criteria in the query I could use so that 1) I could list all of my sites from the master table and then the count can be displayed from the collection table next to the correct Site Name?
I am attempting to split my Access Database and will upload the back-end portion to a SharePoint site. No matter what I do, I continue to get a "Not a valid file name" error.
Sue manage the acc.mdb database file, The database has one table which is called "input", Sue made the form, the form is come from "input" table info. and also Sue made one button to send the specific record to the Tom via outlook, once Sue send out, the mail has created a link, which link can open the document (NOT attached file). Once Tom receive the mail from Sue, Tom will click the link to open the document, and also fill out one signature inside the document, after filled it out, then the signature will automatically populate in the specific field of the "input" table in the acc.mdb database file.
I need to update a table at a client's site to change a couple of fields, and would like to be able to send them something that they can run on their end to perform an insert query.
I cant update the tables via RDP etc. because the database needs to be in Access '97 format, and they all run access 2003.
I also cannot get them to send me the file for updates since it needs to be online basically 24/7.
I'm using Access 2013. I have a directory on my hard drive that contains hundreds of image files. The name of the image file matches a field in the Access table, which are unique. I would like to match those files to the unique number in the table and create a link in a field. How would I go about this.
I am linking the Access tables with another Access Database. But after exiting from Ms Access application links are not getting saved. the version of both the DB are Access 2003.
I 'm downloading the excel data from the site and connecting it to access.
In excel the particular column (Time Taken) is in the format of "00:12:26".
After connecting it to access and appending it to the table, the format changed to "12:12:26", the first two digits changed to "12" and the remaining are as it is how it looks like in the excel. I need to change it to format what it looks like in the excel.
I am pretty sure the answer to this is no but I need to ask anyway.
Is there a way that your tables can be set up so clicking on a record will take you to the corresponding record on the form (like you can do in Filemaker). I have a client who doesn't want queries or reports set up (!!) just wants to be able to filter and search using the table and then link to the form...
I have developed a Microsoft Database Access 2010 Table and associated Form..I open both the Table and Form and a separate tab appears for each, then I can switch from either the table or form by clicking the tab.In the Table screen I select a record, as an example, record number 1926. How can I link this record with the form so that when I select the form tab, record 1926 is shown?
Hi, I would like to rename my access file. My problem: I have many pivot in excel link to this database so if i rename it all the links will be down...How can i resolve this? (of course rebuild all pivots could be a solution but I have around 50 pivots behind my database) Thanks for your help!
I have an Access 2007 application where don't work the link table manager.
I also try to complete reinstall the Office 2007 and also I register the Accwiz.dll in the office folder (regsvr32.exe Accwiz.dll) but the module still does not work.
This form is bound to another table. Now i want to include a checkbox on this form that will be bound to an entirely different (small) table. How do i do this? :)
I am new at this and have been struggling for days trying to solve this problem.
I created a database, using the wizard, to keep records of my orchids.
This resulted in a table. I keyed in the information on each plant.
Then I created a form, using the form wizard. Everything worked great. I could switch between the form and the table views.
The other day, the form no longer contained the information from each of my records. When I tried to switch to datasheet view (from form view), there was no longer a datasheet listed.
When I go directly to the datasheet (when starting Access), I can see all of the records (186 of them), but if I try to switch to form view - no form is listed.
I am new to Microsoft Access and have a little problem. I have searched the forum and nearly found the fix but I didnt quite understand what to do, so im creating a new thread.
I have a Access Database and have a client page that stores all the information about that client. We produce reports (scanned word/pdf) for each client and we store the report files in a client folder using the Client ID taken from Access.
My question is can I somehow produce a link from the Client Form in Access to the Client Folder or Files in explorer. I have seen the Hyperlink option but that is only availabe in Design View.
I have been asked to maintain a directory for our local Scout district. It's currently in a spreadsheet, but is crying out to be a database.I have created a "group" table, this lists all the groups in the district.I have a 2nd table called "people" this holds details of all the people in the district. As some people can have a role in multiple groups, I have created a 3rd table called "link", this is to link the people to groups.
Having read various different posts on sub forms, I am still at a loss on how to create a form / subform to populate the link table. My initial thoughts were to have a combo box on the main form, listing the people and then have a list of groups on the sub form (the are only 24). I would have a check box next to each group and if checked, it mean that the person selected in the combo is associated with that group. However my issue is that the tick box would be a "yes/no" field and the entry in the link table needs to be a number.
