Link Table Problem - Office 2007
Mar 7, 2008
Hi,
I have a link table to my contacts folder held within the public folders on the exchange server. The link table was created automatically using the wizard and connect fine. When you open it, all fields are showing except for the email type and email address.
I cannot think of any reason why it would not show this. When you look at the table, the fields are actually there they just dont return any records? Even more frustratingly, every so often you can open up the table and they appear only to disappear again the next time!!
Any ideas?

Not sure if this has been posted yet. Microsoft has released beta of Office 2007, this includes a new UI to many of the old office programs. For the time being you can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx
Beta 2 of Internet Explorer 7 has also been released:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx
And I know I've posted on this before, but just so it is in the same place, Visual Studio 2005 can be downloaded here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/trial/
There are also many business-oriented programs in beta for testing. If you own a small business, or think your company may have a need ~ test it out, get a feel, for free.

I just found out something that was pretty cool about Office 2007, specifically Access 2007 and Outlook 2007. Working with them together, you can create an email form to gather data for Access and when the email is returned, all filled out, Outlook will export the data into your specified Access table.
I just played with it a little and it appears to have some issues when dealing with multiple tables, but for a simple data gathering it would seem pretty cool. In fact you can set it up so that it won't automatically process until you want to, or you can have it process right when the email comes in.

Hi,
Ok this is a weird one. I have used the automated link table in Access to connect to the contacts folder in Outlook. Both of these being 2007v
Originally this seemed to all work fine and i could see all the data. Now however i am having a problem where i can see all of the data apart from the email addresses. These are input in outlook and they are the correct field names - in fact they have shown up but when i though i had cracked it and saved and closed the db, when i reopened they had disappeared again.
I can work out whether this is a bug or a security setting. Any ideas?
Thanks

Just wondering what the consensus is on MS Office 2007 package. I find it tasty and is quit different from the past versions. That being said, I am relearning the options and finding many new features that weren’t available in the past.
I am very impressed with it thus far.

Neighbour has got a new `puter which came with Office 2007 (without Access )
He needs Access to run an app for his business.
He still has a copy of Office 2000 Pro.
Are there any issues with installing Access 2000 alongside Office 2007. ?
The app calls Outlook to send emails.
Will there be any problems when Access runs this - ? -
Dim stAppName As String
stAppName = "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeoutlook.exe"

I produce a report from a query. One of the fields combines in a calculated field based on numerous other fields, a sentence that may be up to five printed lines of text. While it views correctly in the Report's Preview screen, it is less than perfect when I send it to a Word 2002 document using the Office Links/Publish with Word tool. Despite producing the same font face and size and having the same left/right margins, it truncates unpredictably and inserts a hard-return. It will take a five-row report field and produce a five-row Rich Text Format field...but often with a few lost words at the end of the final row. Some rows have an inch of unused space at the end of them in the RTF file...wasted space.
Any suggestions as to cause?

Our Access database is multiple user. The front end is on the local drive and the data file is on our main server. Our database has numerous queries, forms and reports accessed by command buttons or directly. Various queries are set to merge with Word documents.
What are major or annoying problems that have been encountered by converting. Our database is contains our membership information and is crucial to our operation. Detailing problems/solutions if possible would be extremely helpful. Asking for allot but very concerned about conversion.
Thanks for any input.

My office is upgrading from office 2000 to 2003 this weekend. Should I run the
"Tools - Database Utilities - Convert Database - To Access 2002 2003 Format"
I have about 10 small databases various users access. Is it good practice to run this or just keep it in an office 200 format? Thanks.

The attached Access XP file demonstrates my problem. I've included a form to make testing easier.
Each record in the Projects table has one or more linked entries in the Keywordlink table, showing keywords that apply to that record. Each record in Projects has a Yes/No 'Utility' field.
A third table, Keywords, supplies the keywords that the user can apply to records in Projects, using the subform on the main form. The Keywords table also includes a True/False 'Utility' field. I have set this to True for for the first three keywords.
I need a query, a series of queries or some VB code that updates Projects_Utility for all records to True if and only if the record's linked entries in Keywordlink include all of the keywords for which Keywords_Utility is True (a boolean 'and', as opposed to an 'or'). Otherwise, Projects_Utility must be set to False.
In the attached file, with the current settings in the Keyword table, the 'GetSelectedProjects' query should then produce single-row listings for ClientA and ClientF.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me on this. I'm not a programmer, but I can manage a bit of VB code if I have to.

I have a table "Product" and in this table I have two fields "StoragePlaceID1" and "StoragePlaceID2". Both these fields link to the look-up table "StoragePlace"
*Attached Image "Product_StoragePlace" from the Access Relationship Window"*
When I want to add a new Product from my inter face i get the error you can see in the Attached Image "Save_Error".I think the problem is that the Relationship is defined as One-to-Many,there a way to define the relationship as Zero-to-Many.

On trying to import an Excel 2007 file into Access 2007 I get the following:
1) Choose "External Data," Import, Exce
2) Select small file in MS Excel 2007 format.
3) Click on Import the source data into a new table ...
4) Choose OK
Immediately get "Microsoft Office Access has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." This message never resolves, so I have to click 'Cancel'.
Then I get "Microsoft Office Access is trying to recover your information..." I have to click "Cancel" here as well and then kill MS Access in Task Manager.
Event Viewer gives following message, which is of no help:
"ID: 2, Application Name: Microsoft Office Access, Application Version: 12.0.6211.1000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6215.1000. This session lasted 710 seconds with 120 seconds of active time. This session ended with a crash."
Trying to import a small Excel 2003 file leads the same result. The same happens with a CSV file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 as well. I am using Vista Ultimate.
I have turned off DEP.
How can I get MS Access 2007 to import Excel?
Thanks
Ken

I am working on a new system. Have been given Full MS Access but Link Table Manager fails it gives a standard security warning that this new system enforces it says Opening: CProg..FilesMSOfficeOffice11ACWZTOOL.MDE however on selecting OPEN nothing happens. If Cancel is hit then
long critical message saying in short " Can't find wizard , syntax error in delerations in VB. Likewise I cannot link to a spreadsheet without using the manager.
Question is there anything I can do or is it the fact that these are options were not installed and it is an administrators job?

I searched the internet and different forums, but could not find the solution for my problem. In Access 2003 I splitted the database and made a mde file of the frontend. When I copy the front and backend to another computer it cannot find the backend due to the original path is included. To solve this I would like the database to link the backend that is available in the directory of the frontend. No more and no less. Is this possible? I find a lot of questions in this direction, but could not destilate a solution.

I have a frontend and backend database put in a network drive where users can access to the frontend version which has tables linked to the backend.
When I set up the link tables from the frontend to the backend, Access points to a local drive letter in my computer. For example, if I map the network drive where the databases are, say to Drive R:, the link table in the frontend will always point to tables in the backend on R:. If other user map the same network drive to drive letter other than R:, the table links between the frontend and the backend will be broken.
I wonder if anyone knows a way to set up table link with a physical path instead of a local drive letter?
Thanks
Mike
