General :: Website To Get Data From MS Access Database?

We have all our department's policies in a MS Access database on our server. Some of these policies need to be made available to the public on our website. I'm wondering if there's a way for the website to pull directly from the database rather than having to manually upload the policies to the site every time they change (annually, semi-annually).
General :: Connecting Access Database To Website To Import Data Automatically
Jun 30, 2015I just created a database and need to connect it to the data source. The data comes from a http website (intranet from work). When I open the link using firefox, I can view the website with the data in it, but when I open it from Internet Explorer, I get a save as pop-up message to save a csv file which contains all the data. The extension of the http website ends with csv. So it is something like http (slash slash...) Intranetname/referral_dbase.csv
Currently, I am opening the file using firefox, copying all the data manually, and pasting it in a text file using notepad. After that, I import the file into access. The delimiter of the data is this symbol: |
I am trying to find a way to link my database to the website where the data is located so that I can skip the manual process of opening the website and copying the data and saving it into a text file and then importing that file into access. I was thinking to have like a form in access with a bottom that will automatically import that data from this link and paste it into a table in access using the delimiter symbol mentioned above.
Is this too complicated? Is it even possible in access 2010?

I work for a construction company and am after a bit of advice.
We are looking in to designing a database system to manage one of our property maintenance contracts.
We want to be able to accesss and update the database using a website, so users can gain access via Laptops / Smartphones etc. For Example a plumber can log on to the site on his PDA using a username and password and view a list of jobs outstanding for him and update the status once completed.
We also want to have a section for clients where they can log on and view reports on the status of the project.
What is the best way to impliment this? I have been looking at Access 2007, SQL, Coldfusion, Sharepoint but still so confused.....:confused:
Any advice would be great.

Getting A Database Ready For A Website
Jul 14, 2007Hello! intermediate databaser here and its good to be here.
I own a bridal shop and i'm creating a website to sell my dresses. I know the first step is to have a database ready, since I have so many dresses. I have my tables done with one table holding customer attributes, including name, address, and other personal information, one holding dress attributes such as color, quantity, style, price etc., and other look up tables that has to do with the styles, colors, and quantity (up to 5). Here is where the problem comes in at:
I want to keep up with the orders placed such as the date ordered, what dress they ordered, who ordered it, price paid, shipping and handling (flat rate), etc. but I do not know how to link this up to run off the website. I would like to know what are the key fields I would need in order to place orders appropriately.
Do I need special type of tables since this will be going online?
Would this be the easiest way to go about doing such a thing?
If you could point me in the right way, or to a tutorial I would greatly appreciate it.

How Do I Link Email Text To An Access Database?
Feb 3, 2006I'm creating a contacts database in Access. My emails are saved on Novel's GroupWise (web-based, not a client application). My database is on my hard drive and contains the usual: name, address, preferences, etc.
Is there some way to link the actual text of a customer's email to the entry in my database that deals with that customer (for example, field 1= name, field 2= phone number, field 3= actual text of email)? If the web source is a problem, would there be a way to do it if I imported the emails to Outlook or Outlook express?
Modules & VBA :: Click Button On Form In Database And Login To Website?
Jul 11, 2014I'm new to Access and I'm using Access 2010.
I would like to be able to click a button on a form in my data base and login to a website using my username and password.
The manual login, requires two clicks after username and password, "Login" and "Click to continue"
I have tried many solutions found on the internet, none work for me. One forum reply was to send me a link to another site and it was for Excel. Is the code the same? Didn't work anyway.
From the website I want to login to, I have copied the code into a Word doc from the "inspect element" to work out the names of the fields I'm trying to put my username and password into. (see attached)
I would also like to be able to use Google Chrome as my web browser if possible?

bassically i have created a basic Ms access databse for a hotel reservation system, with queries, reports etc. The database works fine.
I need to create an website which will connect to the database so that i can enter,view, query records from the website.
I have very little or no programming knowledge so whats the best solution. I was going to make the website in either dreamveaver or frontpage but ive read that these static websites cant connect to an database.

I currently have it able to open both reports correctly, and I can get the website to open, but I am not able to find a way to get access to type anything once on the website.

(I would like to position the popup so that the contents of the Address and Postal Code fields are still visible on the form). I would also like to know if there is a way to copy the contents of the Address Field in my program to the Windows Clipboard, using VBA code, so that I can paste it into the Postal Code Finder without highlighting the field contents and pressing Ctrl-C.

Aug 19, 2013Actually what I am looking to do is have an Access application check some Web site for the presence of a number. This number could be the Serial number of the application and if this number exists to maybe show a message in the aplication or even terminate the application.
A quick and dirty way is for User Serial number 254, to put on a specific page of a Web site say arbitrary file 254.jpg (invisible on the Web site). The application would check for the existence of this file and if it is there, it could take some action. Everything would have to be done in stealth mode.
The following code can tell me if a specific URL exists, in this case [URL]

General :: Change Link From One External Database To Another?
Feb 26, 2013I've got an Access 2010 application that currently links to a SQL Server 2000 database. I need to change the link to a SQL Server 2008 database on a different server. Where do I go to change the link? When I click on External Data, ODBC Database, I only get an option to import source data. I don't want to import any data. I just want the application to link to a different external database. If I go ahead and click OK, I choose my ODBC connection and log in to the 2008 database. Now I've got a list of "import objects" to choose from. I choose one table (just for testing; I actually want to link with all tables), it says it imported successfully, but when I view the data in that table from Access, it's the same old 2000 database data.

A User-friendly Way To Link Tables In A Split Database
Feb 25, 2008Hi, all.
I have a "client/server" split Access 2003 database with an Interface file containing all the code/forms/queries and some system tables and also a Data Backend file, with all the data tables and table structure.
This is being deployed to multiple sites, each getting their own version of the backend, so sites will not be using the same backend between them all, rather multiple users in each site will all share that site's backend file.
Since users will deploy in different network locations, etc. they will have to re-link all tables. Is there a meaningful/user-friendly way of doing that without relying on user's knowledge of "Linked Table manager", etc.?

Apr 30, 2013Basically it's trying to take all the files in a given directory and add them into a existing database.
I have a database called Permit. the database has a field called "SEAL" and they will be creating an additional field "SCART" to hold the contents of the file that exist in the directory. Each image file, in directory, is named the same as a unique record in Permit.
example:
Permit-SC might have unique record 532442
An image file would be name 532442.
If the image file matches a record in Permit the image should be added to permit in a field called "SCART". At this point I'm not certain if I want a link or the actual image included in the record. since there's a possibility of including the permit file on the website it might be cleaner to have it included.
Tables :: Error -1002 - Link A Table From One Database To Another
Jun 27, 2013I simply want to link a table from one database to another but am getting an Error -1002 with the error description: "'|' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long."
I have tried just creating a basic table with one field and linking it to another database and still getting the error. It happens when I compact and repair on close.
