Modules & VBA :: Passing Information From One Form To Another

Sep 25, 2014

I have created Form1 with a button and after I click the button Form2 appears (frm_Rollover_Progress). Form2 is a (poor mans) progress indicator that makes some labels visible after a section of a query has run. I have set the first label on the form to Me.lblProgress1.Visible = True but I keep coming up with Compile Error - Method or data member not found. However, when I put a button on the second form and copy in the exact same code then Me.Label1.Visible = True works. I have tried to SetFocus to an item on Form2 but still does not work.

'Open progress form to show progress indicator
DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_Rollover_Progress", acNormal, , , acFormReadOnly

'Add current changes to Total Changes table

Me.lblProgress1.Visible = True
Me.Label1.Caption = "10%"
DoCmd.OpenQuery "qry_Change_AddedQX2", acViewNormal, acAdd
Me.lblProgress2.Visible = True
Me.lblProgress3.Visible = True
Me.Label1.Caption = "30%"

Forms :: Input Information - Passing Values To Form

Jan 30, 2014

I have a database of experimental products. The database allows test technicians to input test information as well as product information (obviously in separate tables). Therefore before a tech logs test information, they have to first make sure the test product is in the database. They can do this by looking up the products that are in the database, and if the current one isn't they can input its information. In the lookup section you can also click on an individual product and lookup its test history.

What I am looking to do is add a button in the product information screen that allows the tech to open the test information input form with the test product information already loaded into the form. The product information portion of the test input form, is two combo boxes, one indicates the test products group and the other is the product number.

Looking up information on Google looks like i might need to use the OpenArgs function, however I have never used that before.

Obtaining User Information

Dec 10, 2007

Hello to you all...

I am just after a bit of assitance if anyone can kindly help?

Basically, I need to redevelop a Complaints database for my employer as the current one is no longer fit for purpose. The current database is a FE/BE database and users are required to login with a username and password. This causes me a massive headache as users constantly forget their password and email me to reset it. I had included a password reminder form which emailed users their password if they got their pre-defined security questions correct but our business standards dept did not want us to store personal data for the reminder questions. Is there a way that the database can obtain the users network login ID from windows without too much difficulty?? We had something similar in a previous database but it dipped into the system registry and our IT dept had a fit when the found out....not surprisingly. :-)
Thanks people. Have a great day!

Modules & VBA :: Export Table As Delimited Text To User Defined Location

Sep 20, 2013

I would like to export a table as a text file to a user defined location.

I have it mostly working, but not exactly as I would like. I'm stuck on the user defined location.

I have a Form that contains a subform and two command buttons.

The subform contains the table I want to export as a text file.

The text file has to be comma delimited, no qualifiers.

I have the transfertext command in VBA that works perfectly:

Code:
DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, "My Specification Name", "MyTableToExport", StrDirTemp & "input_" & StrPName & "NameCode" & StrDIAUnFormatted & "d" & ".txt", False

What I'm stuck on is the filepath. The file path changes everytime. So I would like to have either the open dialog box (I've tried many different versions that I found on the web.) or to search by the account name for the folder and place the text file in there.

Here is one that is closely working how I want it to:

This is a function that I found, that opens a dialog box for the user to select the folder location. It works, but I can't seem to get it to work properly.

It prompts, the location, then once you select it and press ok. It will add the folder name to the full file name, and place the file in the default root path. Not the selected folder path.

So in the end it will look like this:

D:1_MainMyFolderName_MyTextFileName.txt

I'm somehow stuck on getting to seperate the file path from the file name, so you it look like this:

D:1_MainMyFolderNameMyTextFileName.txt

Code:

Dim MSg As String
Dim SelectedDir As String
Dim SelectedDirFinal As String
Dim SelectedDirName As String
Dim StrFolder As String

[Code] ....

I think it should be something very easy, that I just need a pair of fresh eyes to look.

I've tried the Fileobject, FileFolder method, but can't get the quite work properly.

I've also tried wildcard methods as well:

StrDirTemp = Dir(StrFolder & StrPName & "*", , vbNormal)

But keep throwing up blanks.

Dec 30, 2013

I have given an example in the attached excel spread sheet with a few comments at the head of each column.

1. I want to confirm that my best modelling approach for this kind of information is a series of 1 to many relationships linking the attributes in columns A->D?

2. In the example given an environmental rating is given to each make/model of car based on each combination of attributes A-->D. How would this work in terms of user form design to enter the necessary information? in order to assign an environmental rating?

Write Conflict When User Updates Customers Information On Form.

Oct 24, 2007

Hi,

Well I know why this happens b/c the table that the information is being pulled is the subsequently being updated however when moving to a diff customer or closing the form etc.. The user is then displayed the MsgBox of Write Conflict and supplying the user with 3 options of Disregarding Changes, Saving changes to Clipboard or Save Changes.

Baisically is their a way to restrict this write conflict msgbox and have it so that it saves the users changes every time.

cheers

Passing Text Box Value Into Sql Query Parameter

Apr 23, 2014

trying to pass a textbox value as parameter in a sql query.I have a multiline textbox and I use it to find several values in the database, so in this textbox all the values are pasted each per line and I have a small code to convert it to single line comma separated values.This is an example:The user enter the data:

[Text0]
A1C556CC3C-TNNN
C010070H13

The code convert this data to a single comma separated string and runs the query: ex: "A1C556CC3C-TNNN","C010070H13"

Code:
test = """" & Replace([Forms]![Search]![Text0], Chr(13) & Chr(10), """,""") & """"
[Forms]![Search]![Text0].Value = test
DoCmd.OpenQuery "FindPartNo", acViewNormal, acReadOnly

In the SQL code I use the IN operator to find the exact value for each record:

[code]...

I'm passing the value incorrect into the sql code?

Help Passing A Text Box String To A Saved Query

Sep 21, 2005

I have a multi-select list box that runs a "For intCounter" and builds a sting into a text box. That works fine the text box will populate as designed <"Closed" OR "On-Going">.

(I know that I should be dynamically creating the query in the first place ... normally I would ... but this is a quick fix that I want to get it into an existing application, while the redesign requirements are being written.)

Now I want to pass that string to a pre-existing query, but I'm not sure what to write in the criteria section.

I've tried...
Like "*" & [Forms]![ViewReports]![TextPickList] & "*"
IIf([Forms]![ViewReports]![TextPickList]="","",[Forms]![ViewReports]![TextPickList])

and just plain old ...
[Forms]![ViewReports]![TextPickList]

but my query is coming up blank. What do I need to write into the criteria section of this saved query?

thanks in advance!

#Name Error In Form Text Box--passing From Subform

Apr 20, 2007

Hi--I am working on a database which is a modification of the following MS Access 2003 Order Management template:
(URL address blocked: See forum rules)=CT101426031033

In my database, I have a subform called sbfOrderDetails, which in its Form Footer has a text box that sums the items in the order and is called OrderDetailsTotal.

I am trying to pass that value to a text box in the main form called OrderSubtotal.

I have three questions:

1) What is the proper syntax to use to get the value of the subform control into the OrderSubtotal control on the main form? I have tried various permutations and continue to get a #Name? error.

2) If you look at the expression in the Order Subtotal control of the Add and Manage Orders form in the original Order Management template, it looks like this:

=[Order Details Subform].Form!OrderDetailsTotal

When I try to replicate that in my database, I cannot--if I add brackets around my subform name and press Enter, Access adds brackets around everything in the expression, i.e. =[sbfOrderDetails].[Form]![OrderDetailsTotal]
(which returns a #Name? error). If I edit out the brackets I don't want and then press Enter, it puts the brackets back in. In other words, Access keeps trying to "fix" my expression by either having brackets around each item, or no brackets at all! This is really annoying; is there any way to turn it off??

3) When sbfOrderDetails is set to Single Form view, I can see the Form Footer (and the value in the OrderDetailsTotal text box as well). When it is set to Datasheet view, I cannot. Why?

Thank you very much,
lcnlit

PS>I cannot attach my database since I am a new poster, and the forum is disabling the URL of the Microsoft template as well.

Forms :: Passing Text Box Data To A Function Via A Query

Jan 28, 2014

I have a function in a module that looks like this (it takes 2 dates as arguments):

Code:
Function get_KPIScanAgeRange(in_ScanDate As Date, KPIDate As Date) As String
Dim ret As String
ret = "Invalid"
' return value, by default is because age is negative number

[Code] .....

I'm trying to pass the date in a text box which exists in a form called "d3FormAging". The text box name is "KPIDate". The query looks like this:

Code:
SELECT Query_d3_Open.[Company No], get_KPIScanAgeRange([Scan date],[Forms]![d3FormAging]![KPIDate]) AS KPIScanAgeRange, Count(Query_d3_Open.[Scan date]) AS Scans
FROM Query_d3_Open
GROUP BY Query_d3_Open.[Company No], get_KPIScanAgeRange([Scan date],[Forms]![d3FormAging]![KPIDate])
ORDER BY Query_d3_Open.[Company No], get_KPIScanAgeRange([Scan date],[Forms]![d3FormAging]![KPIDate]);

For some reason Access doesn't recognize the "[Forms]![d3FormAging]![KPIDate]" when I pass it to the function. I get run-time error 3070 with information that Access can't recognize this expression even though the code should be correct as it's made with the expression builder and I'm sure the form that contains the text box is open when the query runs.

Calc User Totals Table 1 And Enter In User Records In Table 2

Oct 28, 2004

I have two tables. The first contains details of a budget holders money allocation for a given period, and the other tracks their spend on products over that period. How can I generate a query to calculate the total running spend for each user from the "budget spend table" that will be written into the users record in the "budget allocation table".

My aim is to show details of budget allocation, total spend to date and remaining budget for each user in an Order form / report.

Can anyone please advise me on how to do this or suggest another way of doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Text Boxes Showing Information From A Row In A Form Corresponding From A Combo Box

Jan 4, 2007

Hi,

I have a form that has several text boxes that correspond to a cell in a row. One of the columns contains just numbers 1-300. Now what I need is a combo box that contains the numbers 1-300 and when one of those numbers is selected I need it to import all the information from the same row into the correct text boxes.

For example when the number 3 is selected it will take the row with the number 3 in it, take all of the cells and import them into the right text box.

Thanks a bunch!

Two: If I make a selection in one record then move to another record, the information from the original record is still showing.

Modules & VBA :: Calculating Information For A Text Field On A Form From A Query

Aug 4, 2014

I have a data entry form [Resources] and I would like to display some information about holidays in the form footer. Once the user has picked a combination of Trainer_Name and Start_Date I would like the 'On Change' or 'On lost Focus' event (not sure which would be the best) to perform a datediff calculation.

The datediff calculation would compare the difference between the start date entered on the form and the most recent past Start_Date on a query called [Hours Holiday_P1].I could adapt the same code to also look for the difference between the End_Date on the form and the next Start_Date on the Query.The idea is that when resourcing trainers I know how long it is since and how long it is till their next holiday.The sql for the query is

Code:
SELECT Resourcing.Start_Date, Resourcing.Trainer_Name, Resourcing.Duration, Time.Hours, [Hours]/7.4 AS Days
FROM (Resourcing INNER JOIN Employees ON Resourcing.Trainer_Name = Employees.Trainer_Name) INNER JOIN [Time] ON Resourcing.Duration = Time.Time
WHERE (((Resourcing.Start_Date) Between DateSerial(Year(Date())-IIf(Month(Date())<4,1,0),4,1) And DateSerial(Year(Date())+IIf(Month(Date())>3,1,0),3,31)) AND ((Resourcing.Activity) Like "Holiday*"))
ORDER BY Resourcing.Start_Date;

Entering Information On A Form To Populate Remaining Open Text Boxes

I am in the process of (attempting) to develop a database and application for Parking & Violation Management. I have two tables at this point: "Parking Registration" and "Violations" that are linked by a "Permit #". I have developed a form that will allow the officer to enter either the "Permit" or the "Licence Plate" of a vehicle to run a "Vehicle Check" query to produce specific information for the vehicle in question; which is what I wanted, kind of... The problem is that the resulting data pops up in "table" format, and contains multiple fields, making review of the data difficult due to its lengthy, linear nature. Is there a way to have those results appear in text boxes either on a separate form or the "Vehicle Check" form itself?
