A Simple Login Screen / Also Access In Full Screen

Jul 27, 2006

I have tried to make a login screen, I have also searched for information and tried some of the examples but, I just can't get one to work.
Is there someone or somewhere where I can get information on how to build one step by step in simple easy instructions....(access 2003).

Also, how do you get access to open all the windows, tables, queries etc in full screen mode.
I have expaneded them and shut it down and then reopened it but they still want to open out of full screen mode.

Thanks, everyone has been a great help in creating my first Access program.

Forms :: Coding User Login Form In ACCESS 2010

Apr 14, 2013

I have used Combo box. security_level field is the one that describes their levels and there are only two levels 1 and 2.. I have a table called User (user_ ID, User_Name, Password, Security_Level) On form there is a combo box for user name and text box for password. Two command button where one is for EXIT (Closing the application) and the second button is to run the code.

if the password in table User matches value chosen in combo box or user name and password are correct Then it should check if Security_Level of the user is equal to 1 to displays a form called Admin and when the Security_Level of the user is equal to 2 to display a form called user1.All that I want is to have a login that has two user and each user when login opens his/her own form which is different from the other user.

Avoiding DB Login Screen Everytime We Run MS Access DB Queries Which Have Oracle DB

Oct 9, 2006

Hi -

Currently I have MS Access DB which has some Oracle database table reference using database link concept. I have entered DSN Name, user id and password which it asks when I try to run some queries which will fetch data from oralce DB linked tables. If some wants to use my MS Access DB, they need to have DSN and everytime they run queries related to Oracle database table reference, it will ask for DSN,user id and password. For this I need to share the user id and password credentials to everyone who wishes to use my MS Access DB which I don't want to. Is there a way to avoid the login window whenever some one wants to use my MS Access DB without asking for oracle user id and password credentials everytime? My ultimate aim would be encrypt password for others.

Thanks,
Ashok

Time And Attendance Coding Database

Oct 21, 2006

Hi All,

I am setting up a database to help me prepare codes for employees timesheets in order to upload them into our payroll software. The table structure below is just my preliminary thoughts and current ideas and I guess I'm looking for ideas on how to work with my codes.

EMPLOYEE TABLE
EmpID (PK) - Employee ID # [Autonumber]
Surname - Employee's surname [Text]
Firstname - Employee's first name [Text]

ATTENDANCE TABLE
ShiftID (PK) - Shift ID# [Autonumber]
EmpID (SK) - Employee ID# [Foreign Key]
Date - Date of shift [Date/Time]
Start - Start time of shift [Time]
Finish - Finish time of shift [Time]
CostCtr - Cost centre being billed for shift. [Integer]

When employees work they are entitled to the following:
* Ordinary hours (code 001) for all hours worked.
* 10% penalty (code 006) for all hours worked when shift finishes after 18:00
* 12% penalty (code 007) for all hours when shift crosses midnight
* 50% penalty (code 008) for hours worked on a saturday
* 100% penalty (code 009) for hours worked on a sunday

The following shows data that in my Attendance table for an employee who worked shifts on the 16th (Mon), 17th (Tue), 20th (Fri), and 22nd (Sun).
ShiftIDEmpIDDateStartFinishCostCtr
18443416/10/0610:0019:00
28443417/10/0610:0019:003002
38443420/10/0622:0006:003001
48443422/10/0614:0022:00
From the above data I believe I will need to make another table that contains the entitlement codes generate from each shift.

For the first shift on Monday 16/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation:
CodeHoursCostCtr
0019.00
0069.00

For the second shift on Tuesday 17/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation:
CodeHoursCostCtr
0019.003002
0069.003002

For the third shift on Friday 20/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation:
CodeHoursCostCtr
0018.003001 'Ordinary hours worked
0078.003001 '12% penalty as shift crossed midnight hour
0086.003001 'Only worked 6 actual hours on the Saturday as 2 hours were on Friday night.

For the fourth shift on Sunday 22/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation:
CodeHoursCostCtr
0018.00'Ordinary hours worked
0098.00'Hours worked on the Sunday

From that information the only data I really need to store in a table would be the totals grouped by code and cost centre. Eg.,
CodeHoursCostCtr
00117.00
001 8.003001
001 9.003002
006 9.00
006 9.003002
007 8.003001
008 6.003001
009 8.00
Does anyone know the best way to go about this? Should I generate a new table that links these codes to an employee? Should I make a function to calculate the codes for each day and store them in a table or make the function only sum the code totals for the week and store them in a table?

Brad

Database And Screen Resolution

May 15, 2006

I couldnt find a search facility to see if this had been covered before, so apologies if it has been answered before.

I have created an application in Access (2002) which from the users side of things will start in a form and give them no access to the back end.

Unfortunately, it is entirely possible that different users will have their screens set at different resolutions and so the application will be unusable on some and too small on others.

I was wondering if it was possible for access to automatically resize according to the users screen resolution.

I have searched the MS Knowledge Base and help files etc, but I think it is looking less likely that it is possible. Creating 5 or 6 different versions for different screen resolutions would be a none option.

Thanks for reading.

Modules & VBA :: Login To Database - Close A Modal Popup Window

May 2, 2014

I've tried to add some basic login (not really security) to my database so that when a different name is entered into the login box a different form is opened.

I got this working but the login form stays in foreground and I can't click anything behind it and can't get to the design view to change any properties of anything.

I've also changed this login form to the startup item so it always loads when i start the database.

Is there way to get back to the design view or do i have to start again from my backup?

Modules & VBA :: Click Button On Form In Database And Login To Website?

Jul 11, 2014

I'm new to Access and I'm using Access 2010.

I would like to be able to click a button on a form in my data base and login to a website using my username and password.

The manual login, requires two clicks after username and password, "Login" and "Click to continue"

I have tried many solutions found on the internet, none work for me. One forum reply was to send me a link to another site and it was for Excel. Is the code the same? Didn't work anyway.

From the website I want to login to, I have copied the code into a Word doc from the "inspect element" to work out the names of the fields I'm trying to put my username and password into. (see attached)

I would also like to be able to use Google Chrome as my web browser if possible?

Forms :: Create A Counter To Log How Many Times A User Login To Database

May 22, 2013

I have made a very simple log on form that requires the user to type in a user name and password. The user name and passwords are stored in a table. New users are added to this table to allow access to the database.

Is there a way I can add a counter to see how many times a particular user has logged onto the database?

Is there a way to make the password expire every 365 days requiring the user to reactivate their account and log in details.

Using Access's User And Group Accounts Or Using A Login Form To Access Database?

Sep 9, 2005

Using Access's User and Group Accounts or Using a Login Form to access database?

I've been researching on how to make a database secure. How to create User and Group Accounts on access, I see the step by step instructions and tried it out myself.

I also saw some sites where they give an example of a Login Form and how to create one.

My question is do you need to create both. First create the users and groups to permit or deny access to certain forms and then have a login form?

But would that mean that they'd have to login twice? Once when the database opens because it activates the db security that was created and then login again in the login form that was created?

Also when the user logins in and clicks on the cmd button on the form which opens up another from, frmWorkLog, I have an Employee field. This field I want it to have the user's name entered automatically and "locked". So that info, employee name, is extracted from the user's login. So then the user can only see his or her records only and no one elses.

How would I go about creating that. Hope I made my explanation clear.

Thanks in advance.

Pathname For Current Database

Jan 8, 2006

I maintain an Access 97 database system with a number of front ends and two different back ends (for security reasons). The structure is replicated in different directories as there are training, development and back-up copies as well as the live system. I want the menu page to display the name of the front end that is opened and the path and name of the two back ends, referenced from the current database (front end). To do this, I want to read the directory for the current database as opposed to the current directory which may be different. I can't find this in any VBA reference for MS Access 97; although I used to use the equivalent in Excel using the Get function - as I remember it.

Any help?

Opening The Current Database

Jul 10, 2007

I am creating an order processing system and am using 2 tables

OrderHeader
OrderLines

The OrderHeader table includes the number of orderlines on the order.

I want to ensure that when a user completes the order lines they don't up in a line number greater than the number of lines and want to programatically get the number of lines from the order header table.

The form links to the ID of the order header table by using a combo box, which works fine and I can even display the number of order lines in the combo box.

I don't know how to use an ADODB recordset to query the current database.

I can't use something like :
objConnection.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=c:filesdatabase.mdb"

which i see all over the place, because I don't know where on the PC this will be running on it will be stored.

There must be a simple way to find out a value from a field within a recordset of the current application database?

Any ideas?
