I'm opening a form in snapshot view and would like the background colour of all the fields in the form to be a dark colour to show that it is in snapshot. the user then clicks Amend and the background colour would change to something lighter to show they can amend the record. Is there any way of on the OnClick event of the Amend button change all the fields (and there's lots) at once without having to name them all individually, ie:
manipulate the data by changing one of the columns (Customer 1) to a Look Up Field. This has created two challenges for myself:
1) The data is gone ... oops. I can solve this one.
2) More serious, that column (Customer 1) will only display primary key numbers of the data. Before the corruption, I had a combo box on a form. This combo box took its values from a Table called CustomerTable, the value in this combo box was stored in the QuoteListTable. Before it showed names, now only primary key.
I have attempted to: -change the look-up back to a regular field (got rid of the look-up) -exported the table to a query, turned it back into a table, no change.
HI all, the objective is to grey out an item within a listbox, where the id number is the same in another sub form. The sub form is called contacts and the list is called list15. the unique id that is linking the two is SWD.
I need a little help on a little situation. Basically, my client for my school project wants to be able to see graphically if orders sent to their bookstore have been processed or not. So i suggested a change of cololour of the fields.
Now I have created a Form containing the orders as they are stored in a list box, (both already processed and unprocessed orders), now I want to be able to allow each item in the list box to be either Red (if unprocessed) or green (if processed) so the user can see which ones they need to deal with. Im guessing this would take some VB, but if anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it :).
PS, if you do provide VB could you please explain a little of whats going on as i have to annotate all the code I use and im not too profficient in VB
Well, I got asked to do this with a datasheet view today, and I found after searching the forum that I'm not sure how to do it, and no one else seems to have done this either.
Basically I need to flag a row in a datasheet subform dependant on if a date field is more than 1 month ago and if the status field is set to pending. I looked at conditional formatting, but that only seems to let me set a condition on a single field at a time.
When the user clicks on say; the customer ID dropdown menu, i want the label text on the right of it to get darker (make it more visible). How can i do this?
I'd like to change the colour of the text in a command button when the user click the button, but for the text to return to it's original colour when the botton pops back up.
I'm assuming you use the following commands:
Private Sub cmdClose_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) *******CODE******** End Sub
Private Sub cmdClose_MouseUp(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) *******CODE******** End Sub
But I'm not sure as to how I would enter the correct code.
Here, what I am trying to learn, that background of the form change its colour automatically after sometime let say 1 min or after 2 min
I find the link on the web where more than 500 colour code are available, but not sure, how I can use [URL] ....
I can put this command on form_load() Me.Detail.BackColor = ????????? but question is how i can bring other colour into loop
Plus, if the user want to do any work on the same form, will this loop also allow the user to do any work, I mean form should not be stuck up in the loop of changing a colour...
When i use MS Access help to search for my query i get this result:"Note: If you add a calculated field that includes one or more aggregate functions to a query in qhich you're calculating totals on all the records, you muct set the calculated filed's TOTAL cell to EXPRESSIONHow do i do this?????
I would like to get a third party to edit a database and record those edits by changing the colour of the font. I know this can be done in layout mode, but it changes the font in all records, I only wish to change the font colour in one record, how I can do this, without changing all the records in the database.
I wasn't sure which section this belonged to (tables/forms/visual basic?) so I posted it here. Keep in mind I'm a database and VB novice so please bare with me.
I'm trying to create a database based on an Excel document. In the Excel document different entries selected from a dropdownlist will automatically generate content in other columns (for example cell C1 might be generated by "=A1+B1" in Excel).
I created a main table and linked it to other tables using the wizard (sorry, don't know the name for it in English), which allowed me to select values in the main table using a dropdownlist. See the attached picture. Then I created a form using the wizard. To be able to automatically change the value on one cell depending on the value of another I used this bit of code: Me!KlarTextboxName.Value = Me!DatumTextboxName.Value + 7 With the above example I could change the date in column "Klar" to seven days ahead of column "Datum", by setting this to be activated on the "Datum" update event.
But I have no idea how to change the value on one of the columns that are linked to another table! I tried using the same method, and changing the numerical value of the cell works (it will link to the numerical key value of the sub table) but that isn't very dynamic. If for some reason the key values of the sub table are changed then the script will link to the wrong entry.
I'm grateful for any help or advice you might have to offer me. If I'm not being clear enough on what the problem is please tell me so I can clarify. Thanks.
I am creating an Electronic Medical Records database (well, a fake one, for medical simulation purposes). The way it works, you select a patient from a drop-down on the "Selection" form, and click a command button to bring you to a "Patient information" report. From that report you can view EKG's , Lab results or Imaging reports. This database is to be used for medical simulation for medical students. So for i have command buttons for each report, and a check box to "order tests".
When a test is ordered , i have the command buttons linked to go to a different report that appears the same except it has a subreport with the "new" test results in it. If this were an actual hospital , results would not be instantaneous, so i have the sleep api in for the "on load" for the reports with the "new" results.
I would like it so I could enter how long of a delay i want for the loading of a particular report in the dataentry form i have. But I am not the best at VBA, and I cannot seem to figure out how to get the sleep api to get the value for the number of seconds i want to wait from my table.
i have a text box which displays the current stock level of an item, when the current stock level reaches 1 i need the font to change colour from black to red. for example, if the stock is 2 - font is black if one item is sold the stock will become 1 - font changes to red
how do i go about this? any help is VERY VERY welcomed and muchly appreciated. thanx alot.
I have a main form which has a button to View one of the Reports related to my primary table. The View Report works fine.On close of the Report the program returns to the Main form, and it returns to the record of the Report that was viewed with all of the data for that record showing in all of the Fields, except the Combo Box that I use to look up a record, it is blank.Other than that, the Look Up Combo Box works fine. How do I get the Look Up Combo Box to show the information for that look up field. In the On Close item for the Report I have the following code to get back to the record I want to return to.
Private Sub Report_Close() DoCmd.OpenForm "ENLARGED PROP INFO", , , "[Name]='" & Me![Name] & "'" End Sub
I would like to embed a blank worksheet in access form. I want to do a macro to change the cells value when I click on a button, but I don't know how to do it?
how to do a particular thing in Access 2010 (I don't even know if it is possible).
I have a table named PRODUCTS: ID_PRODUCT (primary key, autonumber long integer) ALLOWED_OPTIONS (multi value text lookup field: "Option 1";"Option 2";...;"Option 9")
So I can store, for each different product, none, one, or more options to let the customers choose from.
I have a table named ORDERS: ID_ORDER (primary key, autonumber long integer) FK_CUSTOMER (foreign key, linked to the primary key of a CUSTOMERS table; represents the customer that places the order.) FK_PRODUCT (foreign key, linked to PRODUCTS.ID_PRODUCT; represents the product that the customer has choosen) CHOOSEN_OPTION (lookup text field; the customer must choose ONE option among those allowed for the product he has ordered)
The problem is that I would like the CHOOSEN_OPTION field to show as a combobox, listing the values stored into PRODUCTS.ALLOWED_OPTIONS, so that when a customer buys a product, he can choose only among the options allowed by that particular product. How can I manage a multi value field to populate a combobox, in which every item stays on its line? If I use, as a query to populate the combobox:
select [PRODUCTS].[ALLOWED_OPTIONS] from PRODUCTS where [PRODUCTS].[ID_PRODUCT]=[FK_PRODUCT]
I obtain an empty combobox. If I refer to the last field as [ORDERS].[FK_PRODUCT], Access asks me to type a value for "[ORDERS].[FK_PRODUCT]", treating it as an unknown parameter.I think that the problem is that when the combobox expands, the record is not committed yet, so FK_PRODUCT is unknown (NULL?). But this happens even if I commit the record typing something in FK_PRODUCT and then I re-enter the record and I expand the CHOOSEN_OPTION combobox, that is still empy although FK_PRODUCT exists, now.Is there a particular syntax to refer to a field in a record not committed yet (something like "THIS." or "ME.")?
First please accept my apologies if this has been done before. In the attached database I am going to have a form which is continous what I am looking to do is change the colour of the box which is in the background to the associated colour from the quote table for example
if they choose water then it will look at the TBLQuoteType and change the box colour to the colour which has been assigned to that value.
Hope this explains it ok I will continue to try and figure it out but I thought I could also use your expert knowledge.
Is it possible to get Access to automatically change the colour in a form field via code etc. My problem is that i would like to easily pick/see any out of date quotations for my customers, so when the quotation date is 30 days old the text changes to red. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Hello fellow programmers, I have a tricky one for you. We have decided to split our local City up into different zones. Giving each zone a number and assigning it a colour. I have a form with all the customers who want jobs done in different parts of the city. This form has a text box on it called: Zone - (which has a 3 digit number it it). I want the colour of the text box to change depending on the Zone number, in the continuous Form view. So all the customers living in Zone=111, will have a Red background colour (color), all living in Zone=222 will have a Green background colour. I know conditional formatting through the properties of the Form can be used, but it only allows me to select 3 different situations. I have many more than 3 colours that I want to assign. I am working on a VB module to define what colour numbers from the MS Access Colour Map will be assigned to each Zone number. How can I now apply this module to the form, so when it opens, all the customers who live in Zone=111 will have a Red coloured background, those living in Zone=222 will have a green colour background, etc?
   Hello, I am new here to the forum.
I have a list box on a form that i want to display a list from a single cell or a table in my access database. The list in this cell is a list seperated by commas such as.....
Field 1 Field 2 example a, b, c, d
I want my listbox to display the list from the first cell in field 2.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin :)
PS I know something similar can be done in visual basic. For example, a simple program can be written to take a list (seperated by commas (,) ) and then display this list in a listbox on the form. Is there a way that the simple code such as that can be altered to work in access?
I have a form with a combo box (unbound) that gets its values from a table. I also have another combo box which is supposed to get its values from a query:
SELECT Vehicle.Registration, Vehicle.Make FROM Vehicle WHERE (((Vehicle.Customer)=Forms![New Job]!Customer));
I have made the first combo box refresh/requery the second one onChange, but I get no options in the combo box.
I am pretty sure that the first combo box is Forms![New Job]!Customer. and there are matching values in the Vehicle.Customer field.
The database can be downloaded from: http://www.tapestriesdirect.com/Garage.mdb (996KB) or if you can unzip (who can't?!?) http://www.tapestriesdirect.com/Garage.zip (86.1KB)
Field "City" is connected to a combo box and field "country" to a textbox on the form.
I would like the user to select a city from the combo box. When this is done the textbox linked to the country field should automatically update to show the correct country. This should update without user intervention.
I would find it better to have the text box look up a value list rather than use a table for its source. the form is being used as data entry. The combobox linked to field "city" is also a value list.
