Feb 3, 2006I recently had MS Access 2003 installed on my PC. When I open it up, I get the iconic menu bar, but not the text menu bar. Can anyone tell me how to make the menu come back.

View RepliesGreetings,
I have just opened Access and for some reason my menu bar is gone. I have fiddled for a few minutes try to find and restore it - but I am clueless. It is working fine in all other programs.
How do I restore it?

Hi.
I lost a bunch of menu option sin my MS Access. In the Tools menu, almost everything is disabled (including Options) and in Add-Ins, all I have is the Add-In manager -and it doesn't seem to work as I readded all the add-ins and there ain't there.
I tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling Access from MS Office 2003 but I still have the same issue...
Is there a way to reset to orginial config?
Thanks,
Ben
When exporting from Acces to Excel numbers formatted to one decimal in Access are displayed with two decimals in Excel. How can I get them to export to one decimal? I know I can reformat them in Excel but I'd rather have it work automatically.
Thanks
I have MDB database linked to SQL SERVER through VPN connection.I created links to the sql server Links are dsnless..Everything works fine but when I lost VPN connection or sql connection has been broken I can't refresh links to the tables.I receive message 3146 sql connection failed..I must close database and start again...
I tried different methods like ado, dao, and vba docmd.transferdatabase,aclink... but no success, table cant be relinked.
Only way I can relink is to change ip adress in conn.string
E.g. 192.124.0.2 (1st ip- router server ip) and after connection failed i can use 192.124.0.32 (2nd ip - server local ip) and that's it if i lost connection for the 3rd time... i must restart application.
It seems that access database keep the previous connection..how to reset or drop database connection to the sql server and refresh links to the tables with vba code without closing access database...
We have an Access 2000 backend database resides in a network server drive while users connect to the backend tables with a mde file on their computers. All users have Access 2010 and the mde file was converted from the 2000 frontend with Access 2010.
The database have been running for a few weeks but recently users have been complaining about record lost on the backend table. We have also experienced one incident of data corruption where the main table could not be opened. After Compact & Repair, the table could be opened but a few records were showing xxxxx on all the fields and we have to delete and re-enter these records.Would they relate to using 2010 mde converted from 2000 frontend when the backend is still in 2000? I am a little nervous about converting both the frontend and backend to 2010 since I have heard various issues on the new version.
the computer next to me doesn't have the standard menu showing,
and I can't figure out why, because the settings are the same as mine.
WITHOUT File, Tools, etc, its hard to teach a new person how to use
it. . .
where do i look, how do i get the menu bar back. . .
thanks

how to add a Menu in Access 2007 where I can click on menu options and it takes me to whatever form or report I clicked on in the menu?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to restore menus/editibility when they have been removed using ACCESS OPTIONS > CURRENT DATABASE then uncheck 'allow full menus'? Database was created in Access 2007. I always keep a back up of the pre-menu-disable state of my databases, but this is someone elses for which I can't find a backup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Access 2007, with what I think is a normal database that I've built up over the past month (maybe 15 tables, <1000 records, 20 queries, 4 or 5 reports and macros). I'm not an experienced Access programmer, so I don't think I'm doing anything fancy with security settings or any other such stuff. (If I have, it's surely by accident, not by intent.)
When I try to back up the db using the simple office button -> manage -> backup method, access generates a date-stamped backup filename and opens a file save dialog for me, but it ALWAYS fails to backup the database. I always get the same error message when I click save, whether I save on my machine, or on a network drive.
"Could not use '<path to the current database dir><backname>.accdb; file already in use."
This same error occurs when I create a new blank database with a single Table1 in it, so I don't think it's my database.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I scoured the net for help, but nothing. I checked various Access forums, but nothing. So I arrive here after I've done my homework... thanks
I have a program.mdb with a customized menu bar from Database Creations. When I open program.mdb in 2007 & 2010 the ribbon is disabled and the custom bar is displayed as it should be and all is OK.When I open the same program.mdb in 2013 the ribbon is displayed and the custom bar is missing
I have a clean compile and get no error messages. How do I disable the ribbon and get the custom EZ Menu Bar to display in 2013?.Following are the Options, Current Database, Ribbon and Tool Bar Option settings that is used in all Access 2007, 2010 & 2013 versions
Ribbon Name:
Menu Bar:EZ Menu Bar
Shortcut Menu Bar:(default)
CheckedAllow Full Menus
CheckedAllow Default Shortcut Menus
UncheckedAllow Built-in Toolbars
Well, I made the move and am using Access 2010 now and I am running into a couple issues.
First off, I want to get rid of this menu on startup:
Not sure what it's called (ribbon, menu bar, etc). I am able to hide it using
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWindowHide
DoCmd.ShowToolbar "Ribbon", acToolbarNo
...in the OnLoad event, but this only works when running the opening form from the form list. When the form runs at startup the menus do not hide.
Also I would still like to have the file menu available because sometimes the user need to access the print menu to choose an alternate printer.
Currently I have a basic database with the following
Table 1 = "EmployeeT" with fields "Employee_ID", "First_Name", "Last_Name" etc.
Table 2 = "NewLabReportT" with fields "Report_ID", "Report_History", "Submitted_By", "Reviewed_By", "Date_Submitted", "Report_Title", "Abstract"
Form 1 = "MainMenuF" this is where I would like to have the search
Form 2 = "NewLabReportF" with fields "Report_ID", "Report_History", "Submitted_By", "Reviewed_By", "Date_Submitted", "Report_Title", "Abstract"
Form 3 = "EmployeeF" with fields "Employee_ID", "First_Name", "Last_Name" etc.
Problem:I would like to have on the Main Menu a drop down list with all of the fields described in NewLaBReportF ("Report_ID", "Report_History", "Submitted_By", "Reviewed_By", "Date_Submitted", "Report_Title", "Abstract") and then allow the user to click a button to the side of it to alert a pop up.
In this pop up:
If they originally clicked "Report_Id" then have the message prompt then to "Enter a Report ID"
If they originally clicked "Submitted_By" then have the message prompt them to "Enter an employees Last Name"
etc...
Further More, after they enter the respective value in this box, have a FORM not a REPORT generate that lists all of the records that match the criteria. This way then can specifically click on each record individually and have it open directly up to it.
Hi everyone,
I was trying out the options on the startup item of the tools item on the menu bar and my access window has gone except the following menu items: File,Window and Help.
Can someone kindly show me how to bring back these seemingly lost items?
Thank you for your willingness to help me out!
I'm trying to do right click menu on listbox.
currently i'm trying to implement a right click menu which will show a simple messege box.
My problem is that the list box is on a pop up form which opened up maximized. Now when i'm right clicking on the list box i see the right click menu but when i'm clicking on one of the menu options, nothing happenning (it seems that it don't go to the function as it should). i've also putted breakpoints on the function but it never tips.
It's important to mention that if i'm setting the form popup option to no the right click menu works perfectly (when i'm clicking on one of the options i see its matching messege box).
I'm running the following vba code:
This is the mouse up event handler for my list box:
Private Sub Song_List_MouseUp(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
' Call the SetUpContextMenu function to ensure it is setup with most current context
' Note: This really only needs to be setup once for this example since nothing is
[Code] .....
setting up the "SetUpContextMenu" sub:
Public Sub SetUpContextMenu()
' Note: This requires a reference to Microsoft Office Object Library
Dim combo As CommandBarControl
' Since it may have been defined in the past, it should be deleted,
' or if it has not been defined in the past, the error should be ignored
[code].....
I am building a db and i want to disable the Shortcut Menu (pull down menu at form's title bar) to prevent the users from closing the main form.
There is a Disable Shortcut menu setting in the File/Options menu but the whole db gets the setting.
I simply want to deny the users from accessing the Shortcut Menu when on the Main Menu (or a particular form) but allow it on other forms where Printing is required via the Shortcut Menu.
Im looking at 2 options; edit the shortcut menu or force a form to disable that w/o affecting other forms.
how to customize my right click "Short-cut" menu in Access 2010. I need a right click menu with ONLY the "Print" and "Print Preview" options for my reports and I would like to disable right click in all other objects.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted a Switchboard page in Access to open automatically when the database was opened. I've done that but, as I did it, while in the Tools/Startup to set Display Form Page (in this case a switchboard page but it's not opening full screen and I ow have no way of editing anything), I stupidly de-selected the options there...
Display database window, Display status bar, Allow built in tool bars allow toolbar/menu changes.
Now I have lost the tools Menu, the View Menu and others (where one sees, File, View etc at the top of the window) and I can't work out how to get them out. I can no longer view my Access pages in Design View so I can't amend the any pages.
Can anyone tell me how to get my View and Tools menus back on my Access app window?? It's a bit of an emergency... been up all night and have to hand this in as coursework at uni in about 3 hours and I've screwed up right at the end and can't do the last couple of things before putting it on a CD for my tutor to mark.
Help!
I'd also like to know how to get it to open the first form at full screen.
Thanks.

Hi I have an access database called contact.mdb and I have linked to it just fine and used the records held in it to populate a datagrid and can update and delete records.
I don't understand databases that much but I would like to read the values into a drop down menu which are held in the field 'ID' from a table called 'courses'. I have a feeling it is something to do with data sets but am not too hot on these either. Any pointers or code would be gratefully received.
Thanx loads Lervy :d
I am looking for a registry setting or .reg file to rightclick on an Access file and in the menu i want to compact or decompile the access file.
I know it is possible but i don't know what's the registry setting.
I have been using a table with queries with no problems. Now the queries wont recognize the last two records of the table when doing a Count. there are no null or empty spaces. I am using the drop down access standard menu to place the "Count" command. Is there a solution to this problem ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a main menu "MainMenuF" in my database and I would like the database to be able to be searched by any of the column headings. For example I have a table titled "NewLabReportT" this table has many column headings like "Submitted By" "Reviewed By" "Title" "Abstract" etc...
I would like my users to be able to click a radio button with the same column headers on this main menu and have a box that pops up to say "Enter search parameter" and have that parameter be searched in the table "NewLabReportT" and generate a FORM not a REPORT of all of the listings in the database that have that keyword associated to that certain category searched. That way they can "CLICK" the exact field they are looking for and have it open right up to that form.
i have just had a problem
if i try to edit an open form by clicking the design icon, i get a message
cant find the call back function or macro "fdesign". ican still close the form and open it from the dbs window
this is affecting accessXP and access20003, but not A97
ive tried repairing/reinstalling the XP installation (but not the 2003 yet), but this has not fixed it.
Any thoughts?
I have a table and it has:
namefield
surnamefield
state1
state2
state3
match(Y or No)
importDate
I would like to make a query+ report so that in the report it looks like this:
<<Name>> <<Surname>>
<<state1>> <match>
<<state2>> <match>
<<state3>> <match>
in one line, at the moment I made a query and the name shows 3 times...
can anyone here give me some hints how to show the name once + the match. Thanks in advance
Cheers...
I am new to using MS Access and am already frustrated that a simple task is getting the better of me.
My situation is that I work for a company that has a number of reps, which are allocated their own ticket books(block). Each book is 50 tickets in size i.e say from number 320500 to 320549. All tickets are entered through our internal system for whatever the ticket was used for.
Now here is my problem. Each block is registered to an individual rep which we need to keep record of as to which tickets are allocated to them, other then having to enter each ticket individually into our ticket block records system, I am trying to make a database entry that accepts the reps name, ticket block start number and then automatically adds the next 50 tickets to that rep, so when we use a search field on any ticket it displays the rep that the ticket was allocated too.
In my head i'm looking for the MS Access way of doing the following:
[tickblockstart]+1 until [ticketblockstart] = [ticketblockstart]+50
Can anyone help me with this probably very easy problem, that i can not seem to grasp at the present time.

hiya, im trying to create a button my form that will move all 'finished' records from where they presently are, to another table.
the button does work, it moves the records into the 'new' table, however it does not DELETE them from the table i moved them from, so now the records are stored in two tables??
the code i have is as follows:
SELECT * INTO Table2
FROM Table1
WHERE Finished='Yes';
if there is something different that i should be doing, or a better way to do this move, please let me know.
(also if this is in the wrong section feel free to move it)
thanks!
