MS Access 2010 - ComboBox On Tabbed Layout Appearing On All Tabs
Jan 9, 2014
I am working on fixing up someone else's Access database. There is one combobox on a form with 4 tabs that is appearing on all 4 tabs, though I only need it on one tab. When this field is deleted it deletes from all 4 tabs.
I have a form with 3 tab controls. Within each tab, there is a bound list box that lists records based on a combo box selection. All list boxes are bound to the same table and records in each tab will be in the same order.
I would like the same record be selected in each list box within the tabs, e.g. when record #2 is selected on tab1, the same record will be selected on tab2 and tab3, or if I click on tab 2 again and change the selection to record #3, record #3 will be selected on tab1 and tab2.
I have a tabbed form built in Access 2007. It's a series of about 32 different questions, with some being fill-in, some drop down boxes to select from, some radio buttons to choose a rating from 1 to 5. The reason I used a tabbed form was just to keep things consolidated on one screen where no scrolling was involved. All of the entries on each of these tabs are deposited into the same single table. I have 7 tabs, and all of the fields on the 7 tabs compose a single record in the table.
I have the actual tabs hidden, and instead use a button to switch to the next tab (Continue button at the bottom) once all the fields on that tab have been completed. I have all of the necessary fields set to be required, but Access does not validate the entries until the very end of the survey when they click a 'submit' button that actually saves the responses and returns to the opening splash page to start the survey again.
What I want to happen is for the fields on the current tab to be validated before it lets the user move to the next tab with the continue button. If they click continue and have left any fields blank they should get a message that all required fields must be completed or something similar to that.
I have found a thread here entitled "Form Validation before Moving to another Tab" which sounds similar to what I'm doing, but using the button method to navigate to the next tab, there is no BeforeUpdated event to assign that code to.
I have an on click event that checks if entered number values on my first tabbed subform are not null. I then pass the values to three other fields each on a different tabbed subform using If Then Else syntax that seems to work. When I click through the tabs after the code has finished I can see the updated values on their respective tabbed subforms. However, when I click back through the tabs or requery the record all but the first and last subform values have saved.
I have tried inserting If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False in the subform after update and on data change events as well as in the on click event. I have also tried RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord and neither seems to work.
Ex. If IsNull(Me.AMT1_AF) Then Else Forms![SCH_ENTRY]![ENT1subform]![AMT1] = Me.AMT1_AF End If If IsNull(Me.AMT2_AF) Then
I have a form (frmMain) which has a header with some basic links and text boxes I would like to keep as a frozen pane on top as the user are scrolling down the detail section of the form. The detail section does include a subform if that makes a difference (frmhome). When going to Options>Current Database> tabbed documents, the form header stays frozen perfectly.
I however would like to use "Overlapping windows" as the form center aligns in the Access window instead of left aligning when using "tabbed". So either :
1) how do I keep the header frozen in "overlapping" or 2) how do I center align the form in "tabbed" view, as right now the form just wants to go as far left as possible in the full Access window.
So I have a Form (frmPositions) with a subform attached (fsubPosSkill). They are linked through Position ID frmPositions Record Source is qryPositionNeeds
Code: SELECT tblPositionNeeds.PositionNeedsID, tblPositionNeeds.PositionID, tblPositions.Position, tblPositionNeeds.NeedsID, tblNeeds.NeedStatus FROM tblPositions INNER JOIN (tblNeeds INNER JOIN tblPositionNeeds ON tblNeeds.NeedID = tblPositionNeeds.NeedsID) ON tblPositions.PositionID = tblPositionNeeds.PositionID;
It has two texts boxes on it [PositionID] and [NeedID]
I have a form design where to enter a new "system" (what we call a new group of members) you have to specify the representative (the member that will represent the system).
If the system is new AND the representative is new, then both need to be entered. Typically this will be done through the "New System" form that has a combo box for you to choose the representative (but the representative won't be there!). If the representative is new as well, then the user clicks "Add New Rep" which is located next to the combo box.
This is where things get tricky, I'd like to use only 1 form to load a new rep. My idea was to use an openarg on the docmd.openform method that specifies what the control should be.
That is the code that is called when the user click "Add new rep" and in the on load event I have this code:
Code: 'Use this version if the ID is text Dim x As Variant Dim strControl As String Dim strID As Long 'If parameters exist, use them
[Code] ....
My goal was to pass the value to the combobox and turn it off, that way they can't change anything about it. This was nice because if the openargs is null (there were none passed) then the combo box would be enabled and the user could select the school that way.
But this doesn't work, for some reason, the combo box has NOTHING done to it (I have the control name correct).
Is this due to the way comboboxes work? Or am I missing something?
I should point out that the on-load event was not my idea, I found that online but makes perfect sense. I was trying something similar but was trying to use global variables because I wasn't aware that OpenArgs was a valid control!
I have a MS Access 2010 application when the User opens form CONTACTS Form
◦User finds single record to be used CONTACTID is identifier to be used for selection ◦User clicks button to open form frm_MAIL_MERGE ◦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has a drop down combo box that reads the folder location where the application resides and displays all .DOTM files (that is all template files) and one more combo box which contains the CONTACTID. ◦User selects single .dotm file for merge ◦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has either drop down to select CONTACTID or UNBOUND data field for user to type in CONTACTID number ◦User enters CONTACTID to be used for the mail merge ◦User selects SUBMIT ◦Application merges selected .dotm file with the information in table CONTACTS for the selected CONTACTID ◦Merged document is saved on the user Desktop as xxx.docx
Is it possible to have a value in an excel 2010 cell be used to update an access 2010 db?
For example, if in a spreadsheet "test" cell A2=3 then in a db "test" a column "value" is 3. However, if the value in the spreadsheet changes so does the db.
I wish to work in Access 2010 with a subset of my Outlook 2010 contacts (all desktop- no network barriers), so I am exploring the Desktop Contacts DB found in Microsoft's templates. It passes contact data back and forth using the standard macros, but I wish to add more fields from Outlook. It seems I need to find the code associated with the macro. I believe I can solve the problem using a Linked table, but am wondering if there is another solution?
Calendar synchronization is another issue. Linking gets me to the Archive Calendars, but not the Current one in Outlook which is what I want.
I'm trying to clean up a form a bit and have it only show certain subforms/graphs if the data exists. I already have columns in a combobox query to show an "X" for if certain data appears:
Now, I know I could build another query and have some system go through and identify these things, but the easiest thing would be to reference the "X" in the columns of the combobox. Is there an easy way to reference values in the other (non-primary) columns? Or can you think of an easy way to make these subforms only be visible when the data exists? Maybe have an on load event for the subform?
I'm working with Access 2007 and am trying to make a form with multiple tabs that will update when a certain business name is selected in the combo box at the top of the form. I have tried looking up different codes to make the combo box update correctly but can't find anything. Right now I have this code in my After Update:
Private Sub cboBusinessName_AfterUpdate() On Error GoTo myError Dim rst As Object Set rst = Me.RecordsetClone rst.FindFirst "[GrowerID] = " & Me.cboBusinessName Me.Bookmark = rst.Bookmark
leave:
If Not rst Is Nothing Then Set rst = Nothing Exit Sub myError: MsgBox "Record Not Found" Resume leave End Sub
I have a problem with the way my forms are opening. The problem is with the document tabs, not the in form tabs.Basically the database will open the login screen (Modal & Popup) on load, after a successful login the user is redirected to a diary events page and the login form closes, then a user can select an ID (hyperlinked) which will open up a popup/modal form for more details and then if they want they can click a button within the popup which will view all client details.
I use VBA to close any popup/modal forms and open the Main Client Screen, at this point there are only 2 forms open in Single Form format, which is the diary events page and main client screen. The problem is once you click "view client" and the form opens, it defaults to the diary events tab, so the client screen is opening behind the diary events form, you then have to click the document tab for "client screen" to be able to view the form, which is a minor issue but annoying still.
I'm creating a tabbed form in Access 2007, and in the first 3 tabs, when I dragged the field controls onto the form, they stretched to the width of the form and all stacked nicely underneath each other.
Now on the next tab they are coming out as much smaller. I don't want to stretch them to fit as I want them a uniform size and I just want to find how to get that setting back! I've been messing with the anchoring buttons to what seems like no avail!
Need to get these into Access from an excel spreadsheet (located on sharepoint). I'm using the spreadsheet fields to create the table fields in Access.
I have navigation form with 2 tabs I'd like to limit access to users with certain type of account.
There are 2 tables in database that contains user names and types of accounts (tblSecurityLevel and tblUser), and they are used to set user name, login and security level.
It works this way: when you open form, it checks if PC name corresponds to name in UserLogin field (tblUser), if it does it gives appropriate access level depending on set user security, if PC name is not on the list user will be logged as guest.
So far, I used this code and it works great for limiting access to 1 tab:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() Dim UserLogin As String Dim userLevel As Integer UserLogin = Environ("Username") Me.TxtLogin = UserLogin
[Code] ....
Is there a way to expand the code and add second tab (or even third) with this table structure (I'd like to be able to keep login which 1st checks for pc name).
I've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. Access 2010 keeps giving me a syntax error when I try to run the query & I don't know why:
My code is:
On Error GoTo Err_Command151_Click
' Declare variables Dim db As DAO.Database Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef Dim varItem As Variant Dim strCriteria As String Dim strSQL As String
[Code] .....
The syntax error I get in Access 2010 is:
Syntax Error in query expression 'SELECT * FROM qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK WHERE qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK.Rep ortableName IN('Adbri Masonry NSW');'
is there a way to have both Access 2010 and 2003 exist peacefully on the same desktop. My company uses Office 2010, but my department has an Access 2003 application. As a result, I have to have A2003 on my desktop and use it quite frequently for this one application.
I have some small databases that I really want to move onto A2010 so we can take advantage of SharePoint functions, etc. Is there anytning I can do to be sure that the .mdb and .mde open in A2003 and the new .accdb opens in A2010, without getting errors and the Windows installer going through the Office installation process for the respective version? I've gone to the file locations and set the "Open with" setting to the respective version.
I have a Reporting Dashboard form that inturn has many buttons to open up different reports and forms.
Now I have been asked to extend the access to a few other users with restricted access. The new users cannot see all the form and report buttons in the Reporting dashboard form.
How can i restrict this? They also need to be given separate logins and passwords. How I can accomplish this?
I am using Access 2010 and Excel 2010. I need to have VB script to export the access table 502 records by 38 fields into Multiple Excel workbooks each having multiple tabs. In the Access table each record has two fields: Div and Tab that will be used to name each workbook and each tab (sheet). There are 6 unique "Div"'s to name the 6 workbooks and there are several "Tab" names for each Div (workbook).
Note: These 6 workbooks with multiple tabs were originally imported into Access from one common folder on my desktop by this routine:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Private Sub Command1_Click() Dim blnHasFieldNames As Boolean, blnEXCEL As Boolean, blnReadOnly As Boolean Dim lngCount As Long

Excel workbooks would take names from the "Div" field and the tab names would come from the "Tab" field in the Access table. First need to find workbook name (Div - Field) then the look for each sheet name (Tab - Field) to create 1st Excel workbook with all the sheets (Tab) and repeat the process. I think you need to approach of read the Access table one record at a time keying on the "Div" and "Tab" fields in creating each Excel workbook with the associated multiple tabs (sheets) that are written to a common folder.
