MS Access Query Popup Entry Box Help
Dec 29, 2005
Hi,
I'm trying to implement a new pop up on one of my queries.
When the user runs the query a pop up will appear and he will enter a currency number (19.95) and it will display all currency (<) less than 19.95.
I use this wild card pop up currently and have tried to modify it, but can't seem to get to do what I need.
Code:Like [Enter Min-Amount] & "*"
Thanks for your help,
Leap!

I am designing a transactions database for some of my clerical staff. I've inserted a data entry subform into the main transactions form (which also has a subform that summarizes all the selected company's past transactions). This data entry subform actually has as it's record source a table that simply stores that one record temporarily.
So when the user is finished entering their current transaction, I have a Save button that actually just opens a popup form which displays the data they entered into the data entry subform, giving them a chance to verify their entry is accurate. This form has a Save button which runs an append query and a delete query, adding the record to the permanent Transacations table and also clearing the temp table.
The problem I have, I think, is that when the popup form opens, the main form data entry subform still has that record locked as exclusive. I believe this is the case because while I am indeed able to make changes to the fields on the popup form, none of these changes appear in the temp table. In other words, the user is not actually able to use the confirmation pop up form to make any necessary edits to their entry. This makes the form sort of useless!

I'm trying to do right click menu on listbox.
currently i'm trying to implement a right click menu which will show a simple messege box.
My problem is that the list box is on a pop up form which opened up maximized. Now when i'm right clicking on the list box i see the right click menu but when i'm clicking on one of the menu options, nothing happenning (it seems that it don't go to the function as it should). i've also putted breakpoints on the function but it never tips.
It's important to mention that if i'm setting the form popup option to no the right click menu works perfectly (when i'm clicking on one of the options i see its matching messege box).
I'm running the following vba code:
This is the mouse up event handler for my list box:
Private Sub Song_List_MouseUp(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)
' Call the SetUpContextMenu function to ensure it is setup with most current context
' Note: This really only needs to be setup once for this example since nothing is
[Code] .....
setting up the "SetUpContextMenu" sub:
Public Sub SetUpContextMenu()
' Note: This requires a reference to Microsoft Office Object Library
Dim combo As CommandBarControl
' Since it may have been defined in the past, it should be deleted,
' or if it has not been defined in the past, the error should be ignored
[code].....

Hi,
I have a popup form called Labor that is working perfectly fine, what i mean is that it is getting populated with data from the query I built using a single table called PrimaryBid_Master. However I have had to add many fields to this table before invoking a query on it, now I'm running close to the 255 field max limitation.
So I have created a new table called Labor_Primary with all the fields that I need and took them out of the PrimaryBid_Master table freeing up about 50 fields.
The query I made combines 2 tables: table1=PrimaryBid_Master table2=Labor_Primary, they are linked by a common field called invoice#.
But now when I’m in the PrimaryBid_Master form and click the command button to go to the popup form Labor non of the values that were populating the popup form from the primaryBid_Master form work, they were working fine the only thing I changed was the popup forms record source to the new query I built.
Here is a print screen of the new query I built using 2 tables, and I also show the old query that works fine using 1 table. http://www.roofmart.net/query1.asp
Maybe you can see some thing I did wrong; do I need some type of filter to fetch the fields? When I open the new query there is no data/values in it.
Thanks--I appreciate any help.

I'm told (via the non-helpful help system packaged with MsAccess) that the way to 'turn off' the helpful confirmation message related to an action query is under tools>Options>Edit/Find tab, and then uncheck the appropriate boxes.
I've done this. In fact, right now I have all three boxes unchecked which relate to confirmation messages (record changes, document changes, and action queries) - and I'm still having that same popup message every time I run the query, or have a report pull the query for me.
this wouldn't be more than just a hassle, except that one of the end users for this system isn't the most computer-savvy person in the whole world. In fact, I desperately need to "steve-proof" this system! I have this nightmare of being woken up at midnight because of this little glitch. any ideas how to disable that popup confirmation message for good??

I have a database that makes use of standing orders. That means that if a client has a standing order to receive products during for example 4 time as year (quartely at the end of the month). to automate the new entry by copying an old entry in the database.
Let's say I have a client where we will have to send a product at the end of June, it will look at a field where the next send date is, and when it reaches 2 weeks for that date, to create a new entry in the database based on that entry. This way, it will pop-up in our open cases and we are aware of it and also will be visible in our report.

I am working on creating an access database for tracking physical assets linked to locations. I need to make a combo box list to show items other than the current location of the asset. Basically I need it to refer to last enery of the user and define the new possible entries. so we have a unique relationship between location and asset. The assets and location will always remain fixed and there is never going to be any addition. I am creating a web form so that it can be uploaded into sharepoint.

I am using MS Access 2007. Can an Access application be designed so that data entry can be handwritten, not typed nor dictated?
Is there third party software to interface with the manuscript recognition and convert and insert this handwritten data into the appropriate forms in a conventional "font" display? Or, is Access able to do this without additional software/hardware?

I have a date field with dates stored as MM/DD/YY, ie.10/13/09 and I want to use an UPDATE statement to change the year from 09 to 2009 but keep the 10/13/. The issue I'm encountering is when I use a wildcard in the SET portion it takes that as literal and updates with the wildcard. ie. Set Date = '*2009' WHERE Date LIKE '*09' updates the column with *2009 as the entry and not 10/13/2009. How can I update my field so I end up with 10/13/2009, not *2009?

I had a combo box (based on a table), storing the choice in a field in the query and underlying table the form is based on. Everything was working fine, until... I altered the form based on a query. Now when you make a choice from the drop down list you get an error bell and nothing happens.

I have created a rather large data entry form for one of our departments which will be used to run a mail merge document. The merge is run off of a query of the form, rather than the tables themselves...I think that is what I've read is the right thing to do?
Anyways, most of it is working great so far but I've run into an issue where a few of the form fields are combo boxes. In access and in the query the data looks correct, but when you look at it in word (in edit recipient list) and after the merge, it will have a file path name instead.
So a combo box that has "Medical Plans and Visual Plans" in that field in the query, comes over saying "c:Users
ameAppData
Ex: New Hires are provided information about Medical Plans and Visual Plans.
Ex: New Hires are provided information about MeC:UsersbrooksAppData
It always shows the first two letters before putting the filepath name in there.
I have tried doing it multiple ways...a lookup to another table, lookup right in the field itself....get the same results.

what I have is a password entry popup, it's very simple and there is only one password, so it's coded into the form. There is an unbound text box for the password, set with the password input mask.An OK button and an Exit button. The OK button has this code on the 'On Click'
Code:
Private Sub cmdOK_Click()
If IsNull(passwordentry) Then
passwordentry = "*"
End If
[code]...
Now what I want it to do is automatically move to the OK button when the correct password is entered, so that you can just hit Enter.Currently you either have to press the OK button with your mouse, or hit Enter to move to the OK button and then press Enter again to activate it.

I have a Form created for Hardware Allocation.
I have following Fields. Allocation ID(PK), HW ID, User ID, HW Status, Assigned Date.
Values of HW Status = Active, Inactive, Decom, In Stock etc.
What I want is explaind below example
HW XXX is allocated to User ABC and the Status is Active.
Now When I want to reallocate the same HW XXX to Another User XYZ then Make the current status as Active. But before doing that the form should force me to change the Status of previous allocated to user ABC to anything other than active. Because One Device can be active to only one user at a time.
i,e Combination of HW ID & HW Status(Active Only) should not be duplicated.

I have a data entry form to add new records to an Access database file called Claims. An auto-incrementing sequence number (SeqNbr) needs to be kept PER YEAR. If the user enters a date the sequence number pertaining to the year of this date needs to be incremented. The first record within a new year of course takes value 1.Records can be added at random for different years.
A simple SQL-statement can be made to determine the new sequence number:SELECT max(Claims.SeqNbr) + 1 from Claims where year(this.value) = year(Claims.EventDate)...this.value meaning the value of the date control in which the user entered the date.I need to return the new sequence number to another field on the form in which also the COMPANY CODE, YYYY and MM from the EventDate, the new sequence number and the USER INITIALS are concatenated.

Hello..
I have a one applicant to many callers database setup. I want to be able to see only the last call to the applicant based on date.
I have tried the following:
SELECT tblApplicant.ApplicantID, tblApplicant.ApplicantLName, tblApplicant.ApplicantFName, tblApplicant.LastFour, tblApplicant.TestDate, tblApplicant.JacketExpireDate, tblApplicant.ContinueProcessDate, [ApplicantLName] & ", " & [ApplicantFName] AS Name, tblYsNo.YesNoType, tblLuTestType.Type, tblCaller.Comment, tblCaller.Date
FROM tblYsNo INNER JOIN ((tblApplicant INNER JOIN tblLuTestType ON tblApplicant.TestType = tblLuTestType.TestType) INNER JOIN tblCaller ON tblApplicant.ApplicantID = tblCaller.ApplicantID) ON tblYsNo.YesNoMain = tblApplicant.Interested
WHERE (((tblYsNo.YesNoType)=[Forms]![frmReport]![cboInterest]) AND ((tblLuTestType.Type)=[Forms]![frmReport]![cmdTestType]))
ORDER BY tblApplicant.ApplicantLName, tblCaller.Comment DESC , tblCaller.Date DESC;
Which had both the caller date and coller comment descending and I have also had the caller date and coller comment ascending. Then I have tried one at a time. But in the report that is based off of this query it still only shows the first comment by date not the last comment.
IE
01/01/2004 comment this is a test
01/02/2004 comment this is a test again
01/03/2004 comment test test
On the report I only want to see the 01/03/2004 comment not the 01/01/2004 or 01/02/2004.
Does this make sense? I have been banging my head...

Is there a way to have an update query update values in a table based on the user's input? For example, I have categories of tests and educational assignments indigenous to a course I manage."How many students failed the Science Exam?" The user would then put the manual calculation in since it varies from semester to semester.
